The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Appearance
Hair color and style: Dirty blond but sometimes dyed bright colors. Eyes: Blue Height: 5'4" Build: Average but somewhat on the thin side though. Visible mutation: None Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Pierced ears, and a tattoo of angel wings on her back. Other features: N/A Everyday clothing style: Anything flamboyant, gaudy, or attention getting. Tight jeans, high priced shirts and the occasional little black dress at night make up the majority of her wardrobe, most of it bought at work when she had a job. Uniform: Sleepwear: She sleeps in a teal silk night dress when she has a bed, otherwise she sleeps in her cloths. Miscellaneous clothing: Her diamond stud earrings are a graduation present from her grandmother and aside from her violin the most important thing she owns.
Character
Personality:Seyta is very rude. Mostly due to the difficulties of her mutation. In conversation she tends to be funny, slightly crazy and outgoing. Seyta comes across as cold at best. Downright hostile at her worst. While she can be pleasant enough with friends Seyta is distant, paranoid, and finds it difficult to trust. She is also a strong advocate of Mutant supremacy. Hobbies/ Interests: She plays the violin and loves adapting the classical instrument for alternative/rock music. Occasionally she writes her own songs but hasn't gotten any of them recorded other than on her own computer. Job or part time job and description: Playing violin on the street corner, random burglary, and loitering. Previously employed at Lord&Taylor. Fears/ phobias/ concerns:Seyta isn't particularly afraid of anything but the potential growth of her own powers. She doesn't like her ability and worries often that, since she can’t control it, it may grow until she is overwhelmed and truly disappears. She also has mild depression since her powers keep her from getting noticed in anyway as friends or in jobs, this hits her hardest with her grandmother who has Alzheimer’s and with Seyta’s powers makes any contact with her nonexistent. Seyta’s true fear is of the apocalypse. She saw it, lived through it, murdered dozens because of it, and died from it. The events she experienced have developed into a mild case of PTSD. But it was just a dream right? Special talents: Seyta has some classical training in Violin and is a decent song writer using alternative/rock style. Seyta also has a decent understanding of home recording equipment and the editing software to use it. Lock picking, and disarming basic alarms have both recently joined her small list of skills.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Evil through and through. Seyta is something of an anarchist and has literally lost faith in humanity.
Mutation
Mutation description:Seyta is naturally unnoticed. She projects a ten foot psychic field around her (10 ft. wide in each direction) that keeps persons, or animal, from realizing that she is there. Her powers take effect in about 5 seconds and end just as quickly for anyone as the enter or leave her range. Since her power is psychic not physical anyone withing her range can still see, hear, smell, feel, or sense (if they are also psychic) Seyta, but unless effort is specifically focused on Seyta most anything she says or does will be unnoticed, or ignored. This effect goes to the point where if someone was in a room alone with Seyta they would not notice her unless something brought their attention specifically to her. Such as Seyta poking them or dropping a glass; it the room was silent they might notice her speaking. Seyta’s original understanding of her mutation was an unconsciously self imposed limit due to her fear of it. While the basics of her mutation have not changed she has come to a level of understanding and control.
Seyta can consciously control her mental/psychic presence on the world around her, directly influencing their ability to notice her. Her mind can exist in two states: Relaxed and Withdrawn. Switching between these states take only a second though she can only use one at a time.
Relaxed state: People would see/hear/smell/feel/sense(psychically) her just like any other random stranger on the street, though she will stick out less in their mind. She would be more a part of the crowd as a whole than an individual. -Anyone looking for her would have no real trouble finding her, though it may take a second or third glance. -For all intents and purposes Seyta is exactly like every other person in the world. -Her mutation is still active as she must consciously keep herself relaxed enough to stay in this state. As such anything that can track mutation use can follow her in this state.
Withdrawn state: Seyta is functionally not there in the minds of anyone around her. All their sensory information of Seyta is there, it just doesn't click. -That part of the brain that says “you're being watched” or that triggers when you make eye contact with a person does nothing. The innate awareness that all humans(and mutants) have of another nearby person simply doesn’t register. -Seyta can get away with vandalism, burglary, and even a small manner of violence without anyone realizing it. People in general simply look right through her as if there was nothing to see. -Anyone who had been paying attention or are trying to find/follow her before she did this will still be able to though it will be difficult. Seyta would be that one thing always out of focus and just at the edge of their vision. -The less distractions there are the easier it will be to notice Seyta or find her. However the effect is still quite strong and if she acts fast enough Seyta could react to someone in an empty room before being noticed. Though this would depend on how hard they were looking for her and how fast she moved. -Seyta is not actually invisible to any of a persons senses. Any sensory information a person receives about her becomes so mundane that you would never think about what you are seeing/hearing/etc. To the people around her she is more ordinary than their heartbeat, or that the pavement is black.
Strengths: -This potentially makes her the best hide-n-seek player in the world. -Seyta can literally get lost in the crowd. Trying to find someone in a crowd of people when they are naturally unnoticeable is a lot harder than “Where’s Waldo?”. -Seyta can stay in her relaxed state indefinitely without any negative effects, though she must stay concentrated on her mental state at all times or she will naturally fade into a withdrawn state.
Weaknesses: -Seyta can’t turn off her ability. -Relaxed is not too different than a normal person however she does get run into more often that anyone else in the world. This also means the META shock collars will ALWAYS activate instantly. -Her mutation is purely psychic, so she has no effect of recordings or broadcasts of her, or anyone watching them. -Her withdrawn state does not increase her stealthiness or ability to sneak. Rather it affects her need to do so. -Due to her PTSD her mind will shift between these states often while she is sleeping. This is more active during dreams and nightmares.
Explanation: Seyta is not a trained fighter. However, she does have a USMC Ka-bar and due to her dreams of the ruined future she knows where to strike vital arteries and sever tendons in the arms and legs. As she learned to understand her powers she tends to avoid fights when she can and end fights before they start otherwise. This has lead her to develop a “strike first, strike hard” approach using her withdrawn state to remove threats before they become a problem.
Pros for fighting style: -If her target is unaware Seyta has an almost guaranteed win in one-on-one fights. -Avoiding a fight altogether is rather easy if she catches her opponents off guard. -against a group it can be demoralizing to see a comrade randomly fall to the ground seemingly without cause.
Cons for fighting style: -She is fully self taught and against anyone with actual skill she is easy to overpower. -Even in Withdrawn state she attracts quite a lot of attention slashing and stabbing with a knife. Faction Allegiance Former member of The Order.
History Of Your Character Seyta grew up in Salem MA. For the most part life in the Salem area was permeated by the general weirdness that came with the town’s history of the colonial witch trials, and mutants who didn't fit well with the social norm elsewhere tended to have an easier time in Salem because of that. Growing up through all of that her parents, Karen and Malcolm Alic, taught her to be courteous to everyone and did their best to keep the American standard of a normal family.
Seyta lived up to her parents expectations for the most part and managed to keep her grades in the B range all through school. She fell in love with the violin at a concert in fifth grade and became almost obsessed with it. Her grandmother, Pamela Alic, was excited by her love for music and supported her in almost all her decisions with it, constantly telling her how great she was as long as she kept trying. Pushed on my her grandmothers encouragement she started writing songs in high school and would send them along with her college applications during junior and senior year. One of these got Seyta a full tuition scholarship for musical studies.
Seyta took the acceptance as a sign, as proof that her dreams would be coming true. For most of her life she had dreamed of being a mutant, getting some cool ability, and being a famous musician because of it; she got the opposite. The day her powers activated she was heading out for college. Getting settled was fine but it was odd that her roommate never said a word to her or even looked at her. As the days rolled by it was getting frustrating to constantly poke, hit, and yell at people to tell them something. By midterms she had dropped out.
Even her family noticed the change and would sometimes have trouble holding a conversation when they weren't looking directly at her. They understood the frustration with her ability but since she was the only mutant in the family they never could relate well. As life went on Seyta tried to live normally despite the stress from her powers but issues would always come up. She reached her breaking point when her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As she realized the affect her powers had combined with her grandmother’s condition Seyta packed up what she could and left home for New York. If she was doomed to be ignored by the world, she would go to the most populated place she could afford and be a face in the crowd like everyone else.
Moving to New York was surprisingly easy given her situation. Although having her father there the whole time was probably why, people would know he was there at least. She eventually managed to land a moderate apartment and a job in the stock room of Lord & Taylor with his help. Not the best situation ever but her ability didn't interfere with it and the pay was more than decent. Several times she went into record companies to play demos for them, she would wait for hours and constantly remind the clerk why she was there until she finally got fed up and left each time.
Within one year of moving to New York Seyta pulled away from her family becoming the black sheep. Contact with them was reduced to the occasional phone call with her mother and a once yearly trip to see her grandmother that no one was allowed to join. Over the past ten years Seyta also gained a slight acceptance of her powers and grew willing to drop off a few of her parents well taught lessons of integrity for a few handfuls of free merchandise. This quickly became a habit and spread until she gladly helped herself to nearly everything besides money and the majority of her food.
After some time either luck, fate, random chance, or a mix of them caused Seyta to get caught up in a short lived but very important blackmail scenario involving the Mayor. This lead to a quick recruitment into the Order, as well as getting a $40,000 dollar cut of the money in cash (she has yet to spend any of this, or even put it in a bank). Some time afterwords she received a strange shared prophetic dream. Seyta remembered nearly everything from this event. Being a fighter in a death-pit arena, helping a random woman fight an unholy swarm of insects as well as aiding in the death of their queen. Working with then being betrayed by the pit owner to steal a nuke. Watching the nuke get dragged out of the bunker was the last conscious though she had before waking up screaming and knowing without a doubt that she had just died.
In the weeks that followed waking from her dream Seyta did her best to cope with the memories she had. However the images and feelings never left. Struggling to come to grips with what had happened caused her to become withdrawn. She stopped going to work, abandoned her connection with the Order, and ended contact with the few friends she had.
What she didn’t understand was that the experience caused her to develop a mild form of PTSD. She simply felt the fear, paranoia, loneliness, and the certainty of what would happen. The noise and bustle of the big city grew and started to overwhelm her, causing a difficult choice. Move back home.
Home to a family that never saw her, never talked to her, knew nothing about their wayward daughter, and understood her less that the people in New York. But home was home.
For three years she lived with her parents. Barely any different that when she had been in New York. But for some reason it made her feel safe. Probably because of the family ties. Even if she had to force every conversation, and then of course refused to talk. Even if she wouldn’t explain why she woke the whole house screaming in the night. Home was the place to be despite all that. And when her grandmother passed, home was not home. So at three twenty-five in the morning she packed what she needed and hopped on a train to home… New York City.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Randy Peterson Sample RP:
Seyta pulled the bow across the strings slowly tuning the violin before looking around the subway station. No one even looked up at the sound. Typical she thought. Shrugging off the lack of response she finished tuning and started up playing the songs she wrote last week. After a few hours she checked the case before packing up her violin. Four dollars and twenty-five cents, those people would probably wonder what they did with that money later.
Packing up she headed back to her apartment. She didn't care about the money, as long as people heard her it was fine. Reaching her apartment building she hurried down the hall just to see a group of teens blocking her path. She waited until she was about 5 feet away before saying anything.
“Coming through people.” She gave a half shout. One of them looked up but didn't turn her direction, the rest ignored her. Rolling her eyes she shoved through them forcefully. “I said coming though you idiots!”
“Whoa easy lady.” Three of them where watching her now, the first two had already gone back to their conversation. She didn't care, they would forget about it while she took three steps never mind when she went back out.
Setting her violin down inside the door she looked around, there wasn't much to do today until later and she wasn't really in the mood to go out that night. Might be a good idea anyway… Might even meet someone who can tell I’m there. She laughed at the thought; the bouncer wouldn't even stop her on the way in. Why would anyone inside care either? With nothing else planned though Seyta gave into her boredom and got all dressed up for a night at a club.
At about 8:30 she left heading for downtown, heading to her favorite hot spot she waited off to the side of the line. She would never get in normally; it was just a matter of time though before her ticket in came. After a few minutes a black car pulled up and a couple got out waving their driver away. Seyta quickly walked over and stepped in behind them as they were let in, as always the bouncer didn't even blink as she followed them like she owned the place. Once inside she took a table, listening to the music and watching the other people. A few people just far enough to avoid her powers smiles and started towards her but they all stopped a few moments later as they got close.
“SEEEYYY!!!” She turned to see who had called her with a rather surprised look on her face. Jenna, one of the cashiers from work, Seyta smiled watching Jenna shiver as she fought Seyta’s ability. Sitting across from her Jenna chuckled “Only you would wear a dress that small and sit alone…”
Seyta rolled her eyes. “So? It’s not like it makes a difference.” They both laughed and talked for a while making Seyta wonder why she didn't just call Jenna in the first place to go out.
