Character

Personality: Lily is the only child of a very wealthy and loving family. She got excellent education, all the school and career opportunities she could wish for... and she got pretty much spoiled. Not the bully kind of spoiled - rather like the can't-deal-with-the-real-world spoiled. She was always loved and cherished; if someone doesn't like her, she doesn't know how to react. To those who are nice to her, she is nice too, but she easily gets hurt or jealous. She finds people with backgrounds different from hers intriguing and totally mysterious in a way that is just short of poking them with needles. Her powers manifested in high school; she decided it was time she did something alone, but that didn't turn out all that well...

Good: she is the follow-the-rules-to-the-letter kind of girl. Most of the time.

Mutations

Mutation description: Lily's powers control precious metals (gold, silver, platinum) and gemstones (with the exception of diamonds - those are the most difficult to control, and she is not there yet, nit by a long shot). The metals she can bend and shape; the stones she can only move, and adjust.

Strengths: she can control any precious metal (or their alloys) and gemstone within the radius of her powers, which right now is 15 to 20 feet.

Weaknesses: she can't create metals or gemstones, she can only use what is within her reach. She can't do much with the gemstones yet, and her powers don't work on all of them (besides diamonds, she can't move organic gems e.g. amber or coral). She can change their shades, and shift their size by millimeters, but that's pretty much it. Enough for making jewelry, not enough for anything else. The radius of her powers is short; she'll have to work on that too.

Secondary mutation description: she can sense any precious metal and gemstone (even those she can't control) in a one-mile radius.

Strengths: she can sense the above mentioned things, and can tell what material they are, and how close they are in what direction.

Weaknesses: she can't tell what is it she is sensing (e.g. she can tell it's gold, but can't tell if it's someone's necklace or an ancient relic)

Fighting Style: never learned to fight.

History Of Your Character:
Jewel grew up in a wealthy and caring family. When she turned 17, her powers manifested; first she didn't use them at all, and didn't tell her parents about them. Later she discovered she could use her powers to create jewelry (she always loved that), so she told her parents about her mutation and decided she'd like to go and find herself a teacher. She was set on doing it on her own, and they let her. The jeweler started teaching her like a normal apprentice, but soon found out about her gift, and tricked her into stealing and smuggling for him. Because she could always tell if something was a fake, she was very valuable. She worked for him for two years (partly enjoying her abilities and partly enjoying doing something on her own - if she suspected what was going on, she chose not to confront it) when the police busted the whole network and she got caught. Her parents got the best lawyers they could find, and they worked out a deal: Lily (now known to many as "Jewel") has to go to school to learn to control her powers instead of going to prison. She is not allowed to leave the institute without supervision. So she came to the school, half ashamed of what she'd done and half curious about other mutants, and more than a bit scared what they'll think about her.

The piece of gold and silver slowly formed a circle, hanging in the air above the work desk; Jewel slightly moved her fingers around them, not touching, but still shaping. As the gold and silver threads intertwined in an elegant pattern, she used one hand to hold them, and the other to lift a sting of tiny sapphires from a box; they hung in the air like drops of rain, before they took their places in the ring. Jewel smiled to herself. Perfect.
The man in the jacked came in through the main door of the shop. Jewel looked up, now holding the ring in her hand, an innocent look on her face.
"Can I help you, sir?"
"Lily Lafayette?"
"Yes."
"You are under arrest."
