The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Talking. An important gesture. A verb, usually done between two people.
There was another verb involving two people. Probably several verbs. But only one of those really mattered that day in the planned conversation Amelia was plotting to engineer.
Sly like a fox, she'd found out about something happening in Central Park. Some sort of social event. There would be all sorts of things. Like a fair, really. And one of those things was a rock-climbing wall.
Now, Amelia was a fan of crime dramas. One of her favorites had a scene, a great classic scene, in which someone used a rock-climbing wall for her own benefit. To set her boyfriend up and get him to do something on the spot. Amelia was not certain Gawain would have the same reaction. But fun was fun.
She'd called, asked him out, and set things up. It hadn't taken long to get across New York to the park, and to drag him to the rock climbing wall.
"So," she turned to face him, letting go of his hand. There was a grin plastered to her face. "Can I propose a bet involving this here rock-climbing wall? Once we're all in gear, of course."
The people with the gear were waiting in the wings to help people out.
What was this all for again? College Spirit Days? The Presidential Race? Who knew? The point was, it was there for her usage. And she had a plan.
One could never be sure about Ami. She always had her own agenda. At some point in this relationship, Gawain just gave up and accepted that he was never going to figure out what Ami was up to until the point when her plan was actually set in motion. It was like riding a rollecoaster. He kind of liked it.
So, today, Ami had a Plan once again, and it involved going out. Gawain did not even bother to ask. As long as they were spending time together, he was fine with whatever she ha...
... rock climbing?...
>>"So, Can I propose a bet involving this here rock-climbing wall? Once we're all in gear, of course."
"That looks like fun" he grinned, looking at the wall. He liked climbing things almost as much as walkign through mirrors. He turned back to his girlfriend with a smirk. "So, what's the bet?"
"Oh, just that whoever gets to the top first gets to make a request to the loser. And the loser has to seriously consider it." Amelia said casually, turning towards the gear guys and locking her hands behind her back. "Hey, can we get set up for two, please?" She asked.
"Sure thing." The gear guy said. Turning, he moved to get them set up.
>>"Oh, just that whoever gets to the top first gets to make a request to the loser. And the loser has to seriously consider it."
Gawain grinned. He looked at the wall, and then back to Ami. The challenge was on.
"Are you really sure that's what you wanna bet on?" he chuckled, kissing her on the cheek. "Oh well. Sounds like fun to me."
He was teasing her. Sure, it was a guy day, and guys' beains work a certain way, but even if (when?) he won the bet, he was not about to make any request that would make Ami uncomfortable. It was just fun, right?
Once they were geared up and ready to climb, Gawain glanced at Ami one more time. "See you at the top. Ready?"
Ami must have lied about her mutation. She was a friggin' squirrel.
>>"You alright?"
"Yeah." Gawain nodded, reaching for another handhold, his head at Ami's feet somewhere. Was it because she was smaller? Or maybe she had just done this before. Gawain didn't. He climbed stuff all the time, but a wall like this. Bummer. This was going to be humiliating...
He tried to climb faster. It was cold on the Wall (Gawain deares ya have been readin' too much again) and once he almost slipped, movie style. Still, he was not that far behind yet. He could still win.
"Damn" he grinned, climbing up after her "You win."
He sat on top of the wall, catching his breath. Wall climbing was harder than he expected. Looking down, he blinked, realizing how high they have climbed. He chuckled and looked at her girlfriend.
It was moment of truth time! Hopefully, Gawain would react like the cop from the show (but better). And ASAP, rather than nearly breaking up with her, then coming to her apartment when they were both emotional, and telling her in a torrent of emotion that was too epic for words.
Oh. She'd forgotten they'd nearly broken up over that episode. Well, damn.
Here she went.
"I want you," Amelia said. "to tell me you love me." And she smiled expectantly at him, and hoped.
Gawain blinked. And almost slipped off the wall. Wait, what? He expected all kinds of requests from Ami (including the Halloween costume she did not leave Maya alone about), but... not this.
Smiling, he found his balance before he reached over to touch her cheek.
"Ya did not have to make me climb all the way up here for that, you know."
Had he never said that before? Probably not. It felt weird. Ami was different. He had told Twyla he loved her; that was wild and unexpected and burning. Ami was softer, even with all the sass and the wall climbing. Ami kind of sneaked into his heart without making a fuss about it.
That had almost sent him off-balance. He was kind of cute when he was flustered.
He smiled, though, and thank God, recovered.
She smiled as he put a hand on her cheek. Kept that smile glued on. And desperately tried not to blush or look away as she waited for those three little words. She wanted to see the look on his face when he said it. She wanted to hear it head-on.
He said it. Yes. **** yes~ Hell ****ing yes~ <3
She beamed.
"I love you, too."
A hand snaked up to grab the harness over his chest. She pulled him in for a kiss.
That smile was without a price. Ami's eyes were shining, and she did not hesitate to answer at all.
>>"I love you, too."
Gawain smiled into the kiss, as someone from below yelled at them about getting a room. He used the hand on her cheek to pull her closer and deepen the kiss, party just to piss the yelling person off. Finally, he pulled back.
Wall climbing had been fun. Gawain decided they would have to do it again sometime. Maybe with another bet...
He smiled as Ami leaneg against him.
>>"You know, I still need to give you your birthday gift~"
"Oh" he chuckled, kissing her on the forehead "So that's where this came from?..."
It was the day after his birthday. He had had interesting birthdays sonce Mom left; some were really crappy, and some were quite nice. He knew Ami would not forget; he knew she had something on her mind. An another Plan. He couldn't wait to see.
