The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The kick was good and flew hard and fast. The swirl of the black and white checkered sphere spun hard through the air, bounced off of one girl’s chest, and on to the bouncing knee of another. Across the field of green, waving grass, girls charged one another, dressed in the uniforms of opposing teams. The girls looked fierce, on both sides. They looked like they played for keeps, like they took absolutely no prisoners. Both groups sought for dominance on the field but in the end, there could be only one winner. Survival of the fittest, only the strong survive, pain is for the weak, all those sayings belong on this field, in this day.
A cheering crowd elated in celebration as that tricky ball was stolen from the feet of one girl and kicked down the field by the opposing team. One crowd jeered while the other cheered.
The thief was a fiery young woman by the name of Jasmine Honey Blossom. Member of the Kingsbridge Academy Tigers, she grinned as she ran for her life, a smile of joy plastered on her face. Her legs pumped in the blue and gold uniform as she dashed for the opposing teams goal…
From the sidelines, amongst all the cheering was another girl, sitting off by herself. She laughed heartily and screamed and clapped with joy. The young woman there was Agnes Nicholas, dressed in jeans, a long sleeve black shirt and a denim jacket. She watched Jasmine run with all her might and did her best to out cheer the rest of the supporters. The opposing time, the Beacon High, did their best to urge their own players on. Judging by the way these two groups screamed, Agnes feared this match would end in a blood bath.
Her knees up to her chest, Agnes followed Jasmine’s every move. She still could not believe that they were dating. And all because her little sister set her up on a blind date with her. Agnes had no idea it was going to turn out so well. Jasmine was sweet…funny…and apparently a hell of a soccer player.
A wide grin and she suddenly yelled out to her significant other.
Jasmine almost had it! Agnes could see that determination on her face from where she sat. She nearly had that ball to the opposing teams goal but it seemed like as she was seconds away, her run was interrupted by a small, squirrely girl that seemingly came out of nowhere. She brazenly charged at Jasmine and in that instant, Agnes held her breath in surprise. She feared that Jasmine was going to get hurt, that maybe this other girl was going to barrel into her. But as she ran, the runaway was surprised to see the squirrel slide down and kick the ball out of Jasmine’s feet.
“Oh god,” she breathed.
Jasmine barely had time to dodge and leapt over the other girl’s legs, those rude ones that dared to steal the ball from her. The young Asian teen had to slow down her momentum before she collided with the grass and barely had time to turn around.
She narrowed her eyes at the other girl.
It. Was. On.
Agnes saw the look on Jasmine’s face as she suddenly hightailed it after the ball again which was in the enemy’s possession. It was as she were engulfed in flames and the only way to put it out was to reclaim that ball.
Agnes giggled as she watched Jasmine run. Shrugged and cheered her on as he eyes fell to the other girl from the Blue Devils. Why…did she look familiar?
Luckily, said shin guards had not needed using. Jump, Jasmine, Jump! Jasmine jumped over the girl's legs.
Amelia touched down on grass with a light skid. A hand rose. Waved at the other girl (who was glaring, by the way. Awesome). And glanced at the ball's current path up the field.
As glare girl rushed after it again, Amelia picked herself up, daintily smacking the grass off of her.
Her team had this under control. She could take a moment to clean up while they dodged midfielders, skirted defense, and pounded for the goal.
It wasn't like Amelia was helpless at offense. She could have been right there with them, fighting the good fight and winning the scoring war. But, for the good of the team she'd decided to play middle back defense, and stonewall any offense that came her way. Fun times, that.
Hands clasped behind her back like a drill sergeant, Amelia hummed to herself as she waited for a tough opponent to return to her side of the field. She kept a close watch on the game as vicious combat for the ball went down. The Blue Devils were devilish. She left it at that.
Agnes winced as the Blue Devils scored yet again. She smiled a little sadly at Jasmine who, with her team of fellow Tigers, did their best to face up to this team but it was just proving to be far more superior as the game went on. Ever since that small squirrely girl had practically kicked the ball out from Jasmine’s feet, it seemed as if the team morale had been shaken. Maybe they expected this game to be a cake walk, maybe they had hoped that things would more easily fall into place, but whatever the case, Agnes could only shake her head as time and time again Jasmine’s team was denied any points.
She clapped and cheered whenever Agnes watched Jasmine’s team make a good move (even if she was not 100 percent sure how the game was played) but always winced whenever those little Blue Devils managed to sneak in and either block or steal away the ball.
But despite the lowering of morale whenever the Devil’s scored, Agnes still cheered Jasmine and her team on along with the rest of the family, parents, and friends who rooted for a Tiger Pride! They would do their best to make sure that their team, even if they were losing, were not going to be forgotten by the their fans.
Especially not Jasmine Honey Blossom; at least not be Agnes. She still cheered her heart out for her…
Jasmine smiled in a good sportsmanship sort of way and returned the highfive as she continued to walk on with her team.
Agnes frowned slightly but still clapped for Jasmine and the Tigers. Even though that was a pretty decisive the end result of that match. Nine to zero, wow, Agnes never would have thought that Jasmine’s team would have lost that much. She had seen Jasmine with a soccer ball and the girl was practically a one-woman soccer team herself. But unfortunately, despite however good her and her team were, it was simply was not enough to hold up against the Blue Devils.
But still, at least there was nothing wrong with losing to a good team. The two groups high-fived before they began to return to their own sides of the field.
With hands stuffed into her jean pockets, she strolled over to the sideline and waited for the team to break-up and run off to speak to their loved ones. As Agnes watched the young ladies reunite with their family and friends, she looked up and smirked as Jasmine was making her way towards her.
“You made it!”
Agnes smiked. “Of course I did.”
“Sorry you came on such a lame day. I can’t believe we lost by that much,” Jasmine said with a sigh as she hung her towel around her shoulders. She did look disappointed but it was not the type of disappointment that would last all day, at least.
“Hey, you played great! Even if you did lose, you were definitely impressive,” Agnes said with a nod and then looked over Jasmine’s shoulder to see the squirrely girl on her own side of the field. Why did she look so familiar? She could have sworn she met her before…
The Devils were doing their usual after-game ceremony of being excited, and doing fun stuff, but Amelia's eyes couldn't help but stray. She'd done this thing before. It never got old. But there had been a familiar face, just now, and that had gotten her attention.
Her eyes strayed. And strayed. And searched. And found Agnes, with a member of the other team.
The name didn't click with the face automatically. It took a few moments. But when it did, Amelia smiled. She had not seen Agnes since the comic book shop. It was not small enough a world for them to constantly bump into each other, she supposed.
"I'll be back in a bit..." Amelia said over her shoulder to the girls on her team. Then, breaking away from the group, she walked across the field to where Agnes stood with her friend.
At least, she thought this was Agnes's friend. She had no reason to expect otherwise.
“Aw you’re just being nice,” Jasmine said with a grin. “You just like seeing me in uniform.” There was that mischievous wink and Agnes of course blushed.
Though she did smile. Jasmine really did look good in uniform. But she would not say that outloud. At least not that with meaning. So she smiled, but she did grin slightly as if that was the thought she was having. A simple smirk and a shy look and it was as if the two girl’s had shared a secret joke that only the two of them understood.
But, for appearances sake, Agnes did gently shake her head.
“Seriously, you did a good job.” She then shrugged her shoulders. “This team, well, they were just slightly better. Just means you got something to challenge you for next time. Besides…maybe they just got lucky…”
Jasmine smirked and nodded her head. Standing in her uniform, she peeked left and right before she reached out and gently took Agnes’ hand in hers. The two girls smiled at each other as they continued to converse in silent conversation, exchanging small giggles and grins, talking about possible outings for their next date when Agnes, the taller of the two, glanced up and caught the familiar sight of another young girl coming right at them.
It was the girl from the match, the one who had stolen the ball from Jasmine. She waved at them and again Agnes was struck by her familiarity. Where she did she know her from?
Meekly she waved back but it was in that second as her mind raced that she began to connect that face with familiar surroundings: a book store, a comic book shop, walking through New York…Ami?
It seemed like forever since she had seen the girl. She waved again when she finally connected a name to the face.
Jasmine arched a brow and turned.
“Agnes? You know her?” she asked curiously.
“Barely,” Agnes responded. “She…ahem…tried to set me up with her brother…” she looked down as if trying to find a hole in the dirt to descend into.
Amelia could jump to conclusions. That was cool. They were together, after all. And the other girl was holding Agnes's hand. And they off in their own little world. She was familiar with this sort of behavior. Shared smirks and grins. Proximity. This was the kind of conclusion only a teenage girl could jump to, with no real evidence other than the aforementioned clues. Oh. And also, Agnes hadn't been head over heels for Aurum when she'd tried setting them up.
Yeah. That last one was probably damning. Pretty much nobody could resist Aurum's charms. When he freaking decided he wanted to use them.
Sometimes, he even used them without meaning to. Had to be a dangerous skill. Maybe he was a mutant? Nah. Charm is not a mutation.
She took it into her understanding that her appearance had, indeed, broken up their little intimacy bubble. And hoped her guessing they were a couple with pretty much no evidence other than the damning stuff and the stuff teenage girls notice was not some sort of unfair godmoding assumption on her part. Because that would have been lame.
The meek wave and awkwardness elicited from the two really didn't help their case, though. Loud laughing. And an embarrassed glance down? Oh yeah. So obvious.
Amelia smiled at the two of them.
"Great game," she said to soccer girl. She looked to Agnes. "You should introduce me to your girlfriend."
Agnes was not sure what she wanted to do. She couldn’t very well vanish. After all the last thing that she wanted to do was to make Jasmine feel like she was embarrassed about being in a relationship with her. But really…how was she supposed to handle this. It was not like she had extensive knowledge in dealing with public dating another girl. They had gone on dates but those were all around people that she didn’t know. How was she supposed to act around someone she did?
She mentally sighed. She didn’t even know how Jasmine felt about public affection. Then again she was holding her hand in public so that had to mean that she did not mind. Agnes still blushed though.
Ami walked up to them and greeted Jasmine first…
>> "Great game,"
“Thanks! You were great out there,” Jasmine said with a beaming smile. Apparently she was never one to be a sore loser.
But before Agnes could say anything, Ami had turned her gaze upon her and lowered the boom…
>> “You should introduce me to your girlfriend."
Totally. Suck!
“Meerp…”
Wait a second! Did…did she really just..merp? Mentally she palmed her own face.
Agnes blushed. There was obviously no way that she could deny her connection the Jasmine. The two were standing out here, by themselves, holding hands in a private little world of their own. Ami just happened to stumble upon them. Whether she knew it all along or just guessed, Agnes didn’t know. But she was obviously right on the money.
Agnes smiled as she looked back at Ami and motioned to Tiger. “Ami, this is Jasmine Blossom,” she said as she turned and then motioned to Blue Devil. “Jasmine, this is Ami.” Agnes turned back to Ami with a slightly embarrassed smile. “Umm….I…I guess it’s a small world, huh?”
Agnes was embarrassed. Whoops. She must've been new at the whole 'dating a girl in broad daylight' thing. Amelia had gotten lucky, and hadn't been on receiving end of any big staring problems there. In fact, shockingly enough, she hadn't noticed anybody looking at Maya and her when they were on dates, or shopping, or kissing at all. Um. Maybe that had had something to do with her focus all being on her girlfriend, though? Shrug.
And really? Jasmine Blossom. Cute name.
Amelia smiled at Jasmine and Agnes through the introductions.
"Yeah." She agreed. "It is a small world. Heh. I wonder if you know my girlfriend, too."
There. That would probably assuage some of Agnes's concerns. She had it on good authority that being embarrassed and blushing in front of a romantic interest was not cool at all. If she could do anything to help Agnes with her problem, she would.
Agnes didn’t mean to blush so much. She was not embarrassed of being with Jasmine it was simply that she did not know what the rules were, or if there were even any! Hell, maybe she should just throw all caution to the wind and damn what the rest of the world thought! But she was not the only one in this relationship and she had never really spoken with Jasmine about how she felt about public displays of affection. For the most part, Jasmine didn’t seem to mind at all. They’ve kissed in public before, held hands, strolled in close proximity, so there was little doubt from passer-bys that they two girls were together.
She sighed. She would definitely talk about this with Jasmine later.
But for now she had to deal with the here and now. Ami, a girl she had met months ago, had suddenly interjected into their conversations and she stumbled over her own words in order to figure out what to say and do in the girl’s presence. It was not like she was a grand inquisitor in the Spanish Inquisition or something…right?
But she smiled politely to Ami. It really was good to see her again. That time they met she thought that they had hit it off as friends but she had not been able to hear from her again until today. Suddenly, by chance, the teenager was thrown into her life again.
>> "Yeah…It is a small world. Heh. I wonder if you know my girlfriend, too."
Agnes tilted her head. Girlfriend? She had no idea that Ami was interested in girls as well. From the way she talking back when they first met, Ami was pretty hard set on the more masculine sex. She wondered if it was all just a front.
She shrugged as she smiled back. “I don’t know,” she said honestly. “I don’t know that many people in the city so the chances might be slim. Unless you happen to be dating someone from my school,” she laughed jokingly.
"Hm," Amelia pursed her lips thoughtfully. "Maya and Gawain go to that Xavier's Mansion place. Where do you go?"
It was probably easiest to list Gawain as two people. That way, if Agnes knew one and not the other, she wouldn't get confused. There was also the off chance Agnes did not know EITHER of Mirror's forms... in which case, it sounded like she was dating two people. She was okay with this thought.
>> "Hm…Maya and Gawain go to that Xavier's Mansion place. Where do you go?"
Agnes paused…and blinked.
“Xavier’s” was all she said at first.
Again! Why such a small world. Ami was such a sweet girl but why she was dating someone like Gawain? Urgh! The very idea of it made her skin crawl. The last time she had seen him he was sharing his room with Andrea the Spider Queen and things seemed pretty intimate up there, even though they both vehemently denied it. But Agnes was never so sure about that subject. But with a sigh blinked and returned to reality to both Jasmine and Ami who were looking at her curiously.
She nodded.
“Oh yeah…” she said with small voice. “I certainly know Gawain…”
She should. After all she did try to beat him to death with a bag of marshmallows. It was obvious that Agnes was not a fan of Gawain but with Ami dating him/her, she held her tongue. That was only good matters after all. Besides, what happened to his last girlfriend anyways? Ah well, it was not as if she kept tabs on the boy’s lovelife. Ew…
But, forcing the creepiness down, she turned back to Ami and gave her a soft smile.
“So that means you must have gone by the mansion. Sorry we never ran into each other there,” she said with a smile.
