The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Whoa. It wasn't only her house that was a crime scene. It was Ghost's. Her entire family's. That included Jude and Sebastian. She'd met them. They were nice people. What the heck had happened?
Svetlana's next question didn't get her full attention. Amelia's mind was still focused on her own questions.
"Yeah," she said. "He does. What happened at the apartment...? Do you know?" She was worried now, for all of them. She wanted to get all the facts.
>>"Yeah. He does. What happened at the apartment...? Do you know?"
"Not really" Sveta frowned, shaking her head "Dey did not let me into the building. The police, I mean. Dey said it is a crime scene. I don't know what happened."
It could have been anything. That building had been the eye of the storm once before, and that was Sveta's fault. Anything mutant-related... maybe Jude-related.... oh hell.
"Maybe your brother knows? Maybe Maya called him?"
Bosses were supposed to call in, right?

"Maybe..." Amelia frowned. "We should go check. This is really worrying me."
Maybe Ghost was hurt? Or worse? There were too many possibilities. It wasn't a good idea to dwell on them. That only invited excess worries. She didn't like worrying, either. It was so uncool.
"It isn't too far to the book store. We could find a bus." Or walk. But walking just didn't feel right, right now. It wasn't like she was a cheapskate. And that would take longer. "Or maybe a cab."
>>"Maybe... We should go check. This is really worrying me. It isn't too far to the book store. We could find a bus... Or maybe a cab."
She really looked worried. Did she know Ghost that well? So why didn't Sveta know who this girl was? Did she know less about her adoptive family than she thought she did? And why did she have to find out like this?...
"All right, let's take a cab" she nodded, standing up. Suddenly now that she had something to do she felt less sad. And more determined. She was going to figure out what was going on. Help or no help.

It didn't take long to find a cab. They got lucky. Once they were out of the park and where cabs usually passed by, it wasn't hard to flag one down. The driver was a Russian man with a gray messenger cap, wearing a vest. He had blue eyes and a square jaw.
"Where to?" He asked, accent thick.
Amelia told him the address. Then, they were on their way.
As the cab sped along, Amelia turned to Sveta.
"Things will be fine. I'm sure." She insisted. Mainly for herself. She hated being unsure.
Amelia glanced back and forth between the exchange in Russian. She did not speak Russian, but she had a good guess at what was being said. The cab had gotten faster, hadn't it? Yeah. That was probably Sveta's doing. Good work. Amelia thought.
The Full Circle Book store was on W 57th St, not far at all from the pond in Central Park. The sun was still setting by the time they got there. It hadn't even gotten dark.
Amelia was the first one out of the cab. "Thank you," she said to the driver, passing him their fare. It had been good she'd had her lunch money on her, she supposed. For the week. She'd probably get to bum some off of Aurum later.
"It's this way," she said, gesturing for Sveta to follow her through the store's revolving doors.
"Thank you!" Sveta flashed a smile at the driver before she hurried after the girl called Ami. She really looked upset about the whole thing, more upset that Sveta was.
Or maybe she just did not feel freaked out anymore because someone else was doing it for her?
They barged into the bookstore. It was a nice place. Under different circumstances, Sveta would have stopped and looked around, and spent some time browsing.
But right now, all she could do was to keep up with Ami.
"Bro!" She saw him there, by the coffee bar, with some bimbo. He glanced her way. Saw her. Some other people turned, too. She stomped up to the snack counter, and pressed her hands down on it, leaning across. "Have you seen Ghost today?"
The man stared at her like she was crazy. Well, she had just barged right in there and caused a disturbance, hadn't she? But this was serious!
"No." He said. Aurum's eyes flicked to the blond she'd come in with, then back to her. "Is something wrong?"
"Heck yeah!" Ami replied. "Her apartment is a crime scene." Pause. Amelia turned and gestured towards the blond. "By the way. Aurum. This is Svetlana. Sveta. This is my brother, Aurum. He's charmed, I'm sure."
"Ami... er..." Aurum shifted his eyes Svetlana's way and added politely. "It's nice to meet you." Then back to Ami. "Crime scene? Where'd you hear that?"
her brother was kinda cute. But Sveta did not really have time for stuff like that. Or mood. Also, Aurum? Interesting name. Sveta did not offer her hand. She was wearing gloves as usual... but still. that question about him being human had not been answered yet.
>>"Ami... er... It's nice to meet you... Crime scene? Where'd you hear that?"
"From me" she said, a bit more quietly than Ami "I live in de same apartment. And de police did not let me in when I went home. Dat is all I know."
For now.

Well, that was interesting. Again, Aurum looked Svetlana's way. The woman lived with Ghost's family? And... Ghost's apartment was a crime scene. All she knew was that. Everything else was a mystery. It was enough to make anyone nervous, even scared. He knew he was suddenly very worried about Ghost's safety. Beyond her being his boss, she was his friend. If anything happened to her... he didn't want to think about it. It wouldn't do them any good to worry right now.
"Do you want anything? To drink. I can get you something. You should sit down." Aurum told Sveta, calmly. "We'll get this sorted out."
"Ahem." The blond at the counter cleared her throat into a fist. Aurum's attention was pulled right to her. As if mind-reading, he guessed her thoughts.
"I'll get your order sorted out too, I guess."
"Better." She smiled thinly. He was giving an awful lot of attention to that other woman now. There was no way he was getting her number after this.
Aurum turned back to Svetlana. "Is there anything you want? On me."
Aurum was on it. He was helping. She got what he was doing, too. Before, she'd been worried. Hella worried. Stuff like that was contagious. Speaking calmly in even tones was good. It meant nobody was freaking the eff out. She took a calming breath and nodded to herself. Yeah. He was definitely right. He didn't even have to say it.
The bimbo hadn't had to say what she'd said, either. Amelia shot her a dirty look. Hurrying her brother in a family emergency? Check. A point on the 'no fly list' for her.
When Aurum offered Sveta a drink, Amelia chimed in. "Can you get me something, too? Cocoa." She wanted something warm and sweet to take her mind off their troubles.
>>"Do you want anything? To drink. I can get you something. You should sit down. We'll get this sorted out."
That almost made Sveta smile again. A guy taking control of the situation. They liked feeling imporant and competent and all those fancy buzzwords. Like he could do anything in this situation. (Apart from not having a Russian accent when he talks to the police) They'll find out soon enough.
>> "Is there anything you want? On me."
"Huh? Oh." Sveta sat down, glancing at Ami. her first thought was coffee, but that was probably the last thing she needed. She her caffeine in her veins to begin with, and now she was upset on top of all that. Alcohol would have been nice, but this was America.
"Cocoa sounds good" she nodded with a half smile. Cocoa makes bad things better.

"Two cocoas it is," Aurum replied agreeably, turning to finish the customer's order. He set it down for her a moment later and took the nice lady's money. Then, he started making the two of them cocoa.
Svetlana still seemed worried. While he was working, hopefully Ami could make her feel better.
It was interesting. He hadn't known Ghost had another family member living with her. Ghost wasn't Russian, and she didn't seem blond. He wasn't quite sure how Svetlana fit in with the family. Family or not, though, Aurum had decided he would be nice to her. He had a feeling Amelia wanted him to help her out.
"Two cocoas," Aurum said, putting the lids on the cups. He set two tiny red straws next to the cups on the counter. "If you want anything else, just let me know." He smiled at them both.
Amelia grabbed the cocoas for Sveta. "Here," she passed one to the woman, and handed her a straw. "Have a seat over there." She nodded to the seating area with the little rounded tables. "We can talk while my brother works. Maybe force him to get us some chocolate chip muffins (with our minds)."
Carrying her own cocoa, she led the Russian woman over to the tables, paying close attention to how well she was ignoring Aurum's eyerolling over her muffin comment. He was getting them, sure, but eyerolling. It was all coming out of his paycheck, after all. What had she thought earlier about bothering him for lunch money?
Technically, it was well past lunch.
Amelia set her cocoa down on the table as she sat.
"So..." She trailed, curiously. She smiled at the Russian. "Are you related to Ghost or just a friend? I know Jude is adopted."
