The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was another cloudy New York day in Central Park. It wasn't raining, but the air was cold. December was a chilly month in New York city. As such, Lenna had made certain both her and Sveta were bundled up. Lenna wore a heavy brown jacket and a red and blue scarf. She'd given Sveta a scarf, too, of her own choosing. An early Christmas gift.
It wasn't the first time the two women had spent time together. Since the 4th of July, they'd spent a day together, here or there. They got along.
There was not an outstanding crowd out around the park. A few dogwalkers walked the sidewalks. There were a few vendors, selling hot dogs, beverages, and... ice cream. There was even an artist, painting for cash.
Lenna pointed him out to Sveta. "There," she said. "Shall we get a picture made?"
Sveta liked walks in the park. She especially liked walks in the par in wintertime, when everyone was bundled up with a very low risk of accidentally touching her skin and making a deadly display of mutant powers. Sveta was cheerful, bundled up like that, enjoying the eather that reminded her of her home, and wearing her new baby vlue scarf that Lenna got her.
She kind of liked Lenna. They never talked about anything deep or important; but they spent time together every once in a while, and it was always nice and relaxed. Days off from all the weirdess. The soothing effect of the adapted girl's abilities lulled Sveta into a comfortable state of calm as they walked along.
>>"There. Shall we get a picture made?"
"Sure." she nodded cheerfully, walking over to the artist. "It is cold out here to be painting though..."

"That's $25 please. Unless you don't like it of course." Ben said to the young couple he'd just painted a portrait of. They smiled and happily paid the artist the money, carefully taking the simple, quickly done oil painting.
Ben was a rather skilled artist. His work wasn't masterful or awe-striking. He was a realistic by design, painting or drawing life-like images swiftly. Less museum worthy and more, well, street trade. Therefore Ben was often found here, in Central Park, painting or drawing for money. He was very skillful at portraits. Faces were his specialty. For a simple $25 Ben would create a professionally crafted work of art. He'd much rather have his work in a gallery of course, but this paid the bills.
Washing off his brush, Ben prepared for whoever was next. Looking across his shoulder, his silvery eyes glimmered through the cold winter air as two women, bundled up in seasonal clothing, approached him. Customers?
"Hello ladies. Care to have your portrait done?" Ben unrolled another clean (and very cheap) piece of canvas and tacked it to a piece of cardboard to sturdy it on his easel.
"You're right," Lenna agreed. It was very cold. He should have been wearing warmer clothing. Ah well. He was here now. He'd paint them. She'd let him worry about catching a cold.
The man noticed them, and Lenna smiled politely. "Yes, please. How much are they?"
>>"Hello ladies. Care to have your portrait done?"
>>"Yes, please. How much are they? You can go first."
"Hi" Sveta smiled at the artist. He was kind of cute. Also, half-frozen, but that was, as Lenna seemed to decide, his own personal problem. He was not complaining about it.
"If it looks good, I will send it to Bo" she said with a smile "She likes paintings."
She sat down, looking at the guy curiously. Sveta had always been fascinated by art and people who were talented in it; she'd never learned anything similar, not after she ran away from home. The Matchmaker did all she could to refine her taste in arts. That was about that. So, she just watched curiously, and smiled.

Ben smiled as Sveta sat down. When Lenna asked him for a price, he did what he usually did: judge the subject. This might sound very impassionate and even a bit rude, but Ben didn't mean it like that. He had no set price. Instead, he'd give them a range, and depending on how much he enjoyed making the painting Ben would fit a price within that range.
His silver eyes looking at the stunning blonde before him, Ben knew he'd enjoy this one. Not that Ben was a creep mind you, but one couldn't deny the fact that Sveta had a gorgeous face, a hint of a smile and a glow in her eyes that told stories all about themselves. The other woman was equally good looking, but in a more straight lined yet a bit hidden sort of way. It was his lucky day.
"For you two? Let's not worry about that just yet. But if you really want to know, it'll be no more then $10 each. A pleasure of painting such pretty portraits such as yourselves have is almost payment itself." Ben winked ever so slightly at Sveta as he motioned to the bench on which he had people sit on while he worked.
Lenna smiled at Sveta. It was nice the girl had someone to send a painting to. She did not. Maybe she could give it to Lori as some sort of gift?
Nah. That might be weird. Things were already weird enough.
Speaking of weird things. The guy told her not to worry about the price just yet. An innocent eyebrow rose. Now, how would she be able to expect a specific price if he didn't give her one? He answered that eyebrow raise with an estimate that seemed fair enough, and the eyebrow backed down, the losing dog in that fight of wills. The guy raised her a compliment. Flatterer.
Lenna glanced skeptically at Sveta"He's a charmer," She joked, still smiling, with him right there to hear it all.
>>"For you two? Let's not worry about that just yet. But if you really want to know, it'll be no more then $10 each. A pleasure of painting such pretty portraits such as yourselves have is almost payment itself."
Sveta smiled as she sat down. He new how to talk to women. That was rare, even among street artists, who, in her experience, were always very nice and chatty with their customers. Obviously. This guy had the advantage of not looking half bad, which made flirting with him all the more enjoyable.
>>"He's a charmer,"
"Is dat a bad thing?" she asked with a smirk, glancing up at Lenna. It was nice. She could live with that. She turned back to the guy to watch him work curiously "So is dis all you do? Or do you have another job too?"
