The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jude stretched his glutes at the back of the predominantly female classroom pretending to be deaf, dumb and blind. The blind part was extra believable with the sunglasses he wore indoors.
He wanted to get better at his control so someone suggested he meditate. Since plain old Gregorian chanting put him to sleep, physical meditation in the form of yoga was the next best thing.
Dressed in loose athletic shorts and a sleeveless tee, Jude felt appropriately stretchy. Manly? Noooot really. But he'd had better luck with keeping his demanding mutation in check lately. (And downward dog was a very common yoga position. Not that he was looking or anything. But that not looking was a strong motivator to return every Thursday.)
"Namaste." The teacher, a short woman in a skin tight top greeted the class without drama or mysticism. The Slinky Factory was a yoga studio that treated their clients most like a gym. That was why Jude could at least pretend to be comfortable here. "Let's start our first vinyasa: sun salutation. Reach up with your arms..."

Emerald's training was paying clear dividends for Rebecca: she was more tone and fit than ever, and she was stronger than she could ever recall being. There were some things that pure-fighting training were not optimal for, however, and for that reason Rebecca had decided to branch out. She was told that yoga could do wonders for her flexibility, and as an added bonus, it could help her mental and spiritual states. Not one to shy away from new experiences since coming to America, Rebecca signed herself up for a class.
Not one to keep a careful eye on clocks since coming to America, Rebecca was running late. The class had already started as Rebecca burst through the door shouting, "Sorry, sorry Ah'm late!" The teacher shook her head, but did not chastise the tardy student. She simply told Rebecca to find a spot.
Rebecca found a free spot next to what seemed to be the only man in the class, but she did not find that fact bothering her. Instead, she simply unfolded her mat and placed a water bottle on the ground.
Considering there was a piece of clothing called "yoga shorts," Rebecca purchased them before the class, not realizing how... little they left to the imagination. This would have bothered her much more if her X-Man costume was not a spandex suit. Speaking of that friendly material, Rebecca removed her old t-shirt to reveal a form-fitting tanktop made of a material that reminded her of her costume.
Rebecca looked over to the man in shades reaching up high. The girl did her best to imitate him. Feeling embarrassed for missing the introduction to the move, Rebecca whispered to the man, "Ah'm sorry, bit what's the name of this position?"
Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out. Breathe in. Hold. Have chi completely annihilated by heavily accented ginger.
Jude tried not to follow her movement through the classroom, but since she was crashlanding on the open mat next to him... well. A little peek seemed unavoidable especially when she stripped down to her class clothes. The Frenchman took back every snarky mental jab he'd ever thought about red heads. Woooo! Yoga clothes were the best!
The teacher tried to continue on with the moves. Jude remained at square one.
"Ah'm sorry, bit what's the name of this position?"
That earned the girl a couple dirty looks from the row ahead of them. She was an absolute disruption.
"Uh. Standing up." That wasn't sarcasm. That was pure, unfiltered word vomit. It just came out. He didn't know all the fancy-schmancy Indian names like the instructor. If he did, he wouldn't need to be here, would he?
Of course, his answer made him sound entirely rude. Smooth. Real smooth. Especially when he turned back toward the front and the teacher was already bent in half at the waist. Jude tried to touch the floor and came pitifully short. He cleared his throat and continued in a softer, less disruptive voice this time.
"Zis one is called bending over." He chanced a grin in her direction. Make a joke of it. Yeah. Then maybe the goddess on the neighboring mat wouldn't beat him up after class.
"Inhale and come up to flat back." The teacher droned on.
"My name iz Jude." Flat back was not too much different from trying to touch his toes.

Rebecca noticed the girls in front of her shooting glares her way, which made her immediately feel like taking the class was a mistake. The feeling was not improved when the man next to her replied to her question in a way that made her feel like she was being talked down to like a dense child. "Thanks," she whispered flatly, clearly annoyed. This was going to be fantastic for her spiritual state.
The man redeemed himself a bit more when he continued, doing his best to clearly make his comments silly and over-the-top. He helped himself out a bit, she had to admit. She grinned, watching him struggle to reach the floor. Almost as a response, she bent her body forward at the waist, getting herself low enough that both her palms could rest flat on the ground, leaving her sadly flat bottom slightly elevated. She did not want to show off her butt or anything like that, but she was always self-conscious about how not-plump her bottom was.
Rebecca assumed the next position, (apparently called flat back,) with similar ease. "Rebecca. Pleasure." He had an obvious non-American accent, which Rebecca always found comforting in others, like she was not alone. "French?" she guessed, since the accent was rather thick.
The beauty of a vinyasa was that they got to repeat the same moves a few times. That left more brain power for flirting making friends. Jude lunged in time with the class.
Was he French? "Absolument."
Sadly his knowledge of accents was not as refined. "British Isles?" His guess was Irish or Scottish, but not really knowing which, he tried to go the diplomatic and therefore more vague route. Didn't Irish people hate getting confused with Scottish or something like that?
It was time for downward facing dog (Okay. So he did know a few of the names.) which used to be his favorite part until the lovely snowflake had landed next to him. Now he was just aware that there were very few safe places for him to direct his eyes. In trying not to gawk, he kept his eyes down which made Jude's sunglasses plonk onto the mat in front of him. He ended up squinching his eyes closed just to be extra safe.
"Inhale and ease down into Plank. Do a push up if you like."

Jude took a ballpark guess of what her accent was, and he was ironically more right than most people who made a guess, since she was a four-quarter product of the British Isles. "Well, Ah'm a UK mutt, bit th' accent's Scot," she assured him quietly. She did not want to upset the people in front of her.
The class moved on to downward facing dog, which involved every girl sticking their butts high into the air. Rebecca looked forward, impressed and jealous at some of the bottoms being touted before her; was there an exercise that added to butt-size or something?
She glanced to the right to see Jude's glasses falling off. She was a little surprised she was the only one taking in the scenery; perhaps he was a gentleman who just loved yoga. "Serves y'right fer bringing shades," she teased.
The class moved on to "plank" which was basically what it sounded like. The instructor suggested that it could be a good time to do a push-up and who would not want to improve their workout? Rebecca lowered and lifted herself off the ground three times in quick succession; push-ups were a breeze after the Emerald experience.
Was that a push up he heard? Jude chanced a glimpse. Make that push ups. Plural up pushing.
"Show off." His tone was teasing rather than accusatory as Jude fumbled for his sunglasses. This girl could totally beat him up. Assuming he could keep his foot out of his mouth, it would be his mission now to make sure that she wouldn't beat him up.
The rest of the routine was what they'd already done, just in reverse so up to lunge they went.
"Ze shades are for your protection, not mine."
A sharp SHHHHH! cut Jude's explanation short. Gees-Louise these girls were wound tight. How was he supposed to get any meditation done with all this shushing?

Rebecca scoffed at the idea that she was showing off by doing push-ups. Was it her fault that the redhead enjoyed working out and getting in proper fighting shape? No, he was just being a silly man and joking with her, so she replied, "Intimidated?"
After a cryptic comment defending his eyewear choices, Rebecca wanted to comment, but the girls in front of them shushed their conversation, which was reasonable since they were trying to focus, but the act felt rude to Rebecca nonetheless.
The girl followed the transformation from the plank up to the reaching position, her hands high over her head, her chest slightly forward as a result. A few moments had passed by since the shushing, so Rebecca took another chance, whispering as quietly as she could muster. "Why, dae you have eye beams or something?" The thought of the superhero Red Eye came to mind, which was very unlikely, but at the same time, it was possible he was some kind of mutant.
Was he intimidated? "Terrified." There were entirely too many people in this world who could beat him black and blue. It was something he had to come to terms with on his own time.
Like now between lunge and flat back. If he wanted to be a badass, he could be one, right? If he wanted to get muscles he would do things that built muscles. The fact that he didn't meant he was either too lazy or had chosen another path.
One long bit of mental introspection later, he came to the conclusion that he relied on his mutation instead. And judging by his power's lazy reaction to Rebecca, she must have muscles to compensate for her power.
Hopefully she wasn't a telepath. He had gotten lazy about guarding his thoughts since he wasn't one now.
As for eye beams... "One look into my eyes and people fall hopelessly in love."
Streeeeetch. Yep. Let her chew on that one for a while.

Rebecca did not anticipate Jude's answer regarding his mysterious eye powers, as was evident by her uncontrolled giggle. Even the instructor shot a glare her way after that interruption. Rebecca muttered an apology, her cheeks glowing like a red sun at all the attention she was receiving. One more interruption and she was just better off leaving the class and cutting her losses.
Still... Jude's response could not go un-replied to... "We better be careful then... my girlfriend'd be cross if Ah left her fer some handsome Frenchman."
Jude was probably too old for her whether she was taken or not, but there was no harm in being playful.
She had a good giggle and it was a matter of pride that he could surprise and amuse a near stranger. Humor was an effective defense against potential face smashing. Of course, Rebecca had bombs of her own to drop.
Girlfriend.
The word hung out there between them like something tangible. It was a good defense if it turned out to be true.
"I would never ask you to leave your girlfriend." On this matter he was entirely serious. "Only bring her along."

Jude was bold, that was certain. Rebecca could have chosen to be offended, but it was much easier to be amused instead. Jude gave her no reason not to give him the benefit of the doubt, at least not that she would have noticed.
Rebecca gave him a wink, respecting his clever retort. "She's not a fan of menfolk, sae she'd be less interested than me." She could feel her ears steaming the moment the words left her lips. "Nae tae say that Ah'm 'interested' in that! Ah jist--"
"Ahem!"
The instructor was now annoyed enough to abandon her yoga pose. "I'm sorry, but at least one of you has to leave."
Feeling plenty of shame for being evicted from her first day of class, Rebecca bent down and folded her mat. "Ah'll go," she muttered, not wanting to be the reason Jude was kicked out of a class he might have been in longer than her. She draped her t-shirt over her arm and headed toward the door.
This was a case of the lady doth protest too much. Jude chuckled in that dark, knowing way that men with experience have. And even more when the instructor demanded justice. This yoga session was moot the moment little red had decided to bustle in all late and cute.
"Don't get your Lycra in a bunch. We will boths go."
Rebecca was gathering her mat, but Jude's was one of the generic blues that belonged to the classroom. Instead he swept up to the instructor and apologized for their behavior. "It won't 'appen again." He chanced a quick peck on the instructor's hand and stepped out the door just before her attempted slap would have reached him. Jude held the door for his new friend.
"Well, zat was a bust." Jude waved to those on the interior of the yoga place as they made it out. "I suppose inner peace will 'ave to be found elsewhere."

Despite her best efforts to play the martyr, before Rebecca could even reach the door, Jude was there propping it open for her. She wanted to scold him for leaving with her, but it was his choice, and even with her proud X-Man strong woman status and her girlfriend at home, there was something about a man holding the door open for her the way Jude did. It was proper and chivalrous and pinkened Rebecca's pale cheeks ever so slightly.
There was no point in fighting him, so instead she replied. "Maybe some inner peace gelato?" Rebecca found no reason not to do something fun with her day now that her original plans were up in smoke.
Inner peace gelato. He didn't have the cash for gelato. All his measly pay check went to food, rent and renovations. Still... it sounded better than that yoga class had been. And a gelato place was bound to be kept cold, a great place to beat the heat.
"Lead ze way." He stuffed his hands into the pockets of his athletic shorts and jangled his keys. "But only if zere is inner peace to be had."
