The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A thrill of fear ran down Gina’s spine when she realized how lost she was. She’d enjoyed her day out, though it hadn’t begun so well. At three in the morning, she and her chaperone arrived at JFK International Airport, steadily made their way through baggage claim and acquired a rental car. At half-past four, they arrived at Xavier's, only to learn that Regina wasn't expected for another couple of days. So, they could either wait until then, or make arrangements to meet with the headmaster at nearly five in the morning. They chose the former. After what seemed like endless travelling, Regina and her chaperone made their way to a nearby hostel. At five in the morning, they collapsed into their own separate beds. Neither of them had slept on the plane-- somehow, Gina had landed herself with a mutant-hating chaperone. Every time she'd begun to fall asleep, and even nod in the direction of her chaperone's shoulder, her chaperone would nudge her awake.
Regina woke up when her chaperone left that morning. She stayed awake long enough to be instructed not to leave the room under any circumstances, and for her chaperone to inform her that they were leaving. Regina got out of bed when she realized that the absence of her chaperone meant that she would be unsupervised. She practically dove out of her pajamas and into some warmer clothes. Gina had spent the day wandering about, taking herself to the zoo, to lunch, and to the mall. It wasn't until her chaperone called that she realized how lost she'd become. She was walking down a well-occupied street, looking for a place to eat some dinner. Her cell phone began to vibrate, which made Gina practically jump out of her skin. Regina fished into her pocket for her cell phone, and regarded the screen. She answered hesitantly, not recognizing the number.
"Hello?" she inquired, placing a hand over her unused ear to block out external noise. She was particularly grateful that the caller on the other end of the line was yelling. It was her chaperone.
"Where the Hell are you?!" the chaperone yelled from the other end of the line, her voice shrill, "I told you not to leave the room."
"I was, uh, seeing the sights," Regina murmured huskily, "It's no big deal." She shifted her weight, tucking a recently-purchased stuffed animal tiger under her arm.
"Get back to the hostel, now!" her chaperone snapped, "I'm so dead if my employer finds out you took yourself on a tour of the city."
Regina paused pregnantly, pursing her lips, before curtly replying, "I'll return when I've had my fun-- with all due respect, ma'am, you should have considered the repercussions of ditching me before ditching me." With that, she hung up, and pocketed her phone once more. She regarded the stuffed animal tiger smuggly, eyebrows arched. In a dry tone, she murmured, "Guess we'd better start walking back, huh?"
She looked around trying to recall from where she'd walked and what direction she'd have to go to get back to the hostel. Realization struck her, fear oozing down her spine when she noticed that she couldn't recall where she'd gone, or where she'd have to go to get home.
Regina broke into a jog, approaching a small trio of human-looking teenagers. She nervously tapped one of them on the arm and said, "Excuse me, I'm lost. Could you tell me how to get t-"
She was cut off when they turned, looks of disgust on their faces, and walked away quickly. Regina recoiled in astonishment at their rude reactions. An anger fizzled in her, and she pursued them once more. Her voice climbing, she yelled, "Hey, I was talking to you! Could you at least tell me how to get to the-!?"
"Listen," one of the guys cut her off, a sneer on his face, "We don't like your type, and we don't interact with your type, so I suggest you make yourself scarce, little monster."
"My type?!" Regina growled, her voice climbing, "I just want some goddamn directions. Is that too much to ask?" The guy turned and the group quickly retreated. Regina's anger fizzled into panic and frustration once more. She bit her lip anxiously, realizing that she wouldn't get anywhere if she just stood there and fussed, or tried to find a half-decent human to help her. Regina hazarded a guess in what direction to go, and began walking sullenly, holding her stuffed tiger to her chest anxiously. She didn't think anyone would cause her trouble, with her looking like a gargoyle and all, but she would rather not sleep on the streets that night. It was cold out, and she'd rather not sleep on the streets.
Agnes was not one to stay in enclosed spaces for too long. Unfortunately her need to maintain whatever freedom she still had was prevalent over even a hot bath and fresh food. That was not to say that she was ready to leave the Xavier mansion, but it did mean that she would go out on excursions. That was what the young, insect infested runaway was doing now. She traveled her old alleys, draped in her patchwork cloak, made from various sewn together patches of material, and lurked about, the grime and dirt until she felt comfortable again. The one thing she was not prone to do again was eat from the dumpsters…those days were over…for now.
Until then, she could still escape out in the foul smelling, forgotten alleys and simply wander like she used to. It was like she could flow with the hidden veins of the city, wandering about aimlessly can lead to some interesting places.
This particular day…in this particular alley…it was one that lead to an interesting place.
Agnes was crouched down deep in the alley and looked behind a loose brick on the wall. She had been here before and marked the brick with a bright, red X. It was important for her because she hid something here. She had little spots like this all over New York, hidden away spots in alleys where she kept supplies. Sometimes when she returned to them, she found them already raided. It was saddening, but she found a way to live with that disappointment. Now though, as she moved he loose brick from the wall and reached in, she found her fingers wrapped around what she was looking for.
Gently she pulled out a oil cloth that seemed to wrapped around a small object. Gently she undid it and sighed contentedly when she saw that gleam of metal…it was a small, gold necklace. It was not worth much, but when she found it on a street corner one day, she thought it was very pretty so she had decided to hide it away. It was an investment, should she ever find the need to pawn it and take the money and run.
But just as Agnes stuffed the gold trinket into her pocket, she heard arguing. As she crept to the opening of the alley that led to the sidewalk, she heard more raised voices and then finally what sounded like the upset voice of a teen.
>> "My type?!...I just want some goddamn directions. Is that too much to ask?"
Agnes peeked out into the street and saw…well…someone that looked like they escaped from a perched off an old cathedral. For a moment she really thought she was looking at a statue, but no…it was a mutant. That was the only way to explain the argument and the appearance. Still draped in her cloak and hood, she peered out to see that the thugs had already left. Some people really were just plain rude to one another. It was a concept she knew too much about.
But the only thing she knew was not to get involved. In the streets you had to look out for yourself. Survival of the fittest. That sentiment melted the second she saw the girl turn around and spied the stuffed tiger in arms. She was a young teen, she could not have been older than thirteen or fourteen. Agnes sighed as she shook her head. She needed to get somewhere…Agnes could relate to that.
Finally, backed away into the alley a bit more…Agnes whispered out to her.
“Psst! Hey you the tiger!” she called as she crouched herself behind a trashcan to remain hidden. She waited until the curious girl would appear. “You look lost. Need any help?”
Agnes had to admit that she would probably look quite a fright to the girl dressed in her stained, torn cloak of various materials ranging from silk to denim. That was why she would try to at least attempt to flash the young girl a smile to keep her from being frightened.

Regina's head jerked in the direction of the alleyway, and she jumped, as if startled. She hadn't heard the shrouded figure speak, as the streets were too loud and their voice had been hushed, but the sight of them was enough to unnerve the young girl momentarily. It took her a moment to register that they were speaking, which Regina had noticed that their lips were moving. In the shadows, it was difficult to read their lips. Regina's brow was drawn in confusion, lips pinched as she focused on what the cloaked person was saying. She managed to catch, "Need any help?" and nothing more.
Regina surveyed them for a moment, rooted on the well-lit sidewalk. The hooded figure flashed a smile, which didn't do much to quell Regina's unease-- they were probably some sort of mugger, or a thief. But, if they were really just interested in helping her, it'd be foolish to turn down their kindness. Was this cloaked figure no more than a good Samaritan, or were they an opportunistic theif?
"You aren't going to try and mug me, are you?" Regina inquired bluntly, her wings fluttering, "I mean, I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover, but it's kind of dodgy to hangout in a dark alleyway, and in a cloak no less. Though, I must admit, it's a very nice cloak." She smiled anxiously, a small tilt at the corners of her mouth. There were a few purposes to Regina's inquiry. Primarily, she wanted to know if the person was trustworthy. Secondly, she wanted them to drop their hood-- she couldn't read their lips too well when their hood was drawn up around their face, and it was very hard to hear them.
That said, Regina inquired, "Are you from around here? I mean, you know your way around here, right? I'd be really grateful if you were to, hm, help me. Please. I'm kind of lost." Regina articulated each word carefully, making sure not to mispronounce anything or speak too slowly or too quickly.
>> "Are you from around here? I mean, you know your way around here, right? I'd be really grateful if you were to, hm, help me. Please. I'm kind of lost."
Agnes was not quite sure why the girl had rambled before, but she knew that she definitely needed the help. Seeing the fourteen year old alone on the streets made her heart hurt just a little. She hated seeing any one on the streets younger than herself, especially alone. But the girl looked as if she had just finished some shopping so maybe she was not in that much trouble. Still though, she was alone and she was a mutant. That is never a good combination for New York. Too many close minded people run around with self-righteous missions to convert or kill mutants.
Anyways Agnes must have been frightening the girl. She had asked if she were there to mug her, but that could not have been farther from her intentions. Still though, what would you asked a stranger who is dressed in a ragged, patchwork cloak, calling to get your attention from a dark alley.
That’s right, it was getting dark now. No wonder the young mutant was in wanted help to get back home. Agnes flashed her as warm a smile as she could muster as she stood into full view of her and pulled back the hood of her cloak. Her face looked warm, albeit a little pale, but her piercing blue eyes, which must have looked cold to some, now only emitted warmth.
She smiled as he nodded her to join her in the alley, but not in a suspicious way.
“I don’t want your money. I don’t like seeing people lost.” she smiled a bit as she showed her hands to prove that she was not armed. “Don’t listen to jerks like that. Sometimes humans…they can be unreliable. But I can show you where you need to go. I know this city inside and out.”

Regina watched as the girl dropped her hood, her face coming into view. It was just another, human-looking girl, whose face seemed to illume because of its paleness. Gina could tell that she was thin because of the skininess of the girl's face. She wasn't tall, but she wasn't short either. Her eyes were also very striking. They reminded Gina of the Pacific on a cool, crisp day. She was a pretty girl, and she wore a nice smile. Gina flashed a toothless smile back, her form going slightly more relaxed.
She stepped into Regina's range of vision, exposing her hands palm-upwards as she began to speak to her, explaining, "I don’t want your money. I don’t like seeing people lost--” at that, she smiled a little more, "--Don’t listen to jerks like that. Sometimes humans…they can be unreliable. But I can show you where you need to go. I know this city inside and out.”
Regina quirked her head at the girl as she listened and watched her speak, obviously attentive and her expression set in mild contentment, now that she'd found help. The girl spoke like a New Yorker, but that wasn't what had caused Regina to incline her head. When the girl spoke, she spoke of "humans" as if the category was one to which she didn't belong. Regina's gaze drifted to the cloak inquiringly, searching for some sort of wings or physical anomalies. Contrary to the cloak, the girl seemed human, so Regina assumed that her mutation wasn't of the visible sort. Regina shifted the tiger from her two arms to below her left arm, so that it hung limply in her hands.
"Another mutant?" Regina guessed, gesturing at the other girl inquiringly, "Nice. My names Regina, Regina Schuyler. I go by Gina, though. I'm staying at this hostel called the Highbridge House. It's by the, uh, George Washington Bridge. I don't remember how to get back, though. I mean, after I took myself to the zoo, I just sort of wandered about and wound up here."
Regina had always been a rather talkative sort, tending to drivel on if encouraged, or even if discouraged. Part of her tendency to ramble was no more than a habit of hers, which developed when her hearing began to go. Since she was so conscientious of being misunderstood when she spoke, Regina compensated for her occasional stumble of the tongue by being far more elaborate than neccesary.
>> "Nice.
Agnes smiled a bit and nodded her head. She knew exactly where that was but she was shocked that the poor thing had managed to wander off that far and have no return plan. Then again, New York was an easy place to get lost in when you new in town. Whoever this Regina was but she must have definitely been new to town. It was always the newbies who stray off the beaten path or end up lost or mugged in some alley. Unfortunately Agnes had seen it too many times prior.
Strange that only now was she finally stepping up to help. This was not her normal behavior. The runaway tended to keep quiet, to stay to the shadows and keep her head down. But ever since Svetlana saved her, in a way, she guessed that it was her duty to help out those who needed the assistance. Otherwise, where would she have been without a stranger’s help? Either in some jail or worst of all, shipped back to her parents!
“Come on, Regina, I can take you back. I know where you need to go.” Her smile didn’t falter as she turned her back to Regina and began to lead her into the alley.
The quickest route would be through the alleys since it would probably be better that neither of them were found out here after dark. She could not risk putting the young mutant into the kind of danger that is attracted to the night. At first she did not check if the girl was going to follow her and instead continued on in silence. She knew that this scene bit be a little tense for the girl. After all, she didn’t know Agnes, she didn’t know if she were lying about not wanting to mug her and could easily be leading her to her demise.
But Agnes was none of these things, she only wanted to get the girl home.
She turned back to the teen and smiled as warmly as she could. “I’m a mutant too. I want to help you. You have my promise that I will get you to your hostel safe and sound. Trust me?”

Regina nodded to show that she understood, jogging to keep up with the other girl, her claws scraping the slick sidewalk as she went. Her chaperone was going to be so livid when she returned-- their professionality would bind them from physically venting their frustrations, but that didn't do anything for the shouting that would probably ensue. The other girl probably kept to the alleyways to detract attention from the two of them, but Regina was uneasy about the alleys. They were dark and narrow, with high walls and mazelike paths. It brought out her claustrophobic side. As they went deeper in to the alleys, the noise from the steets became more and more diluted by the silence. It was eerie, being so deep into the city, yet being in an alley so penetrated by silence. It still wasn't as silent as her hometown, though. The corners of Regina's eyes pinched a little at the thought, recalling the sound of the Pacific Ocean crashing off of the bluffs by her hometown. Living in the city would definitely be a new experience, that was certain.
The girl in the cloak came to a sudden halt, which had caught Regina off-guard and caused her claws to scrape the uneven pavement as she skidded to a halt. Gina almost lost her balance, but the flailing of her arms and tail managed to keep her upright. The other girl began to speak again, which struck Regina as odd-- wasn't following her proof enough of some degree of trust? Regina gave a bit of a smirk, shrugging her shoulders. She trusted her as much as one stranger would trust another stranger that seemed to mean well. The other girl also confirmed that she was a mutant. Regina silently wondered what her power was, since their didn't seem to be any visibly mutated aspects of her appearance. Maybe she was a psychic of some sort? There had been plenty of psychics back in Mendocino. Or an elemental, or a shapeshifter... those were pretty common, too...
"I do," Regina affirmed simply with a nod of her head, a smile in her eyes. Even if this other girl wasn't visibly mutated-- just a nameless stranger with enough kindness to help another-- Regina felt that this girl was her best bet of getting back to the hostel.
"Say, do you have a name?" Regina acquired, as they began to progress down the alley once more, "Or something that I could call you, at the very least?"
>> "Say, do you have a name?...Or something that I could call you, at the very least?"
She smiled a little as she turned to look back at Regina. One of her golden rules was never to get involved, you just simply don’t do it. But since she appeared at the mansion and has made a connection or two, most of her old beliefs were beginning to evaporate. Now here she was, helping a girl she hardly knew simply because she was lost. Well…not only that but she was a mutant too. Sometimes being a mutant means helping out your own kind every once and awhile. Especially if humans are being too much like jerks to do it themselves.
“Agnes. My name is Agnes and it is nice to meet you, Regina.” She gave her another friendly nod before she turned back to leading the girl through the alley. “Stay close to me and don’t wander off, okay? Sometimes the alleys can get a little disorienting.”
It was her final warning before she continued to lead the girl on, following dark and dank passages that no normal person would dare to tread into. Good thing they were anything but normal. At this thought, Agnes began to wonder if the Regina suspected that she was a mutant as well. To be honest it was hard to tell from Agnes’ outer appearance. She looked just like any blue-eyed pale skinned teen who lived in New York. But upon closer inspection, it was not hard to miss.
Bugs. They began to creep after them, following along the walls and chittering whenever they went. It was a constant reminder, a sound that told them that no matter where they would go in the city, there were eyes everywhere. This was especially true in the alleys that Agnes led Regina through. As they walk there were the sounds of tiny legs crawling and the buzzing of flies. To most it would seem like Agnes was little more than an unclean teenager with a nasty smell that attracted bugs. But there was obviously more to it than that. Especially since she did not mind when a roach could be seen crawling on her cloak, or a fly crawling through her hair.
She sighed a little as she looked up and noted that the sky was even darker now. Thankfully, she could tell that they were none too far from the hostel.
“Tell me, Regina,” she asked as she held open a broken down wooden fence for her to step through. “What’re you doing wandering around New York? Especially without any supervision?”

"Nice to meet you," Regina said reflexively, though the pleasantry had been mumbled, and was therefore a bit hard to hear. Agnes. It was a good, old-fashioned name, much like Regina. Regina committed the name to memory, as names were things she often forgot. Agnes. They shared four letters in their names, which was kind of cool. That would help her remember her name. Gina nodded as Agnes warned her to stick close and not to wander. They began to move once more, and Regina tried her hardest not to get distracted by her surroundings. Her eyes did the wandering, drinking in her surroundings in an ever-alert sort of way. The alleyways put her on edge. She returned her attention to Agnes, and realized that she'd lagged behind a little, and jogged closer once again.
Regina looked at the ground, realizing that she wasn't paying much attention to where she placed her footing. Though her skin was quite tough, glass shards still hurt, and were unwelcome. It was then that Regina noticed some of the bugs. A couple of roaches scuttling in front of her, in the same direction that they were heading. Now, though roaches were kind of gross, they didn't bother Regina as much as mosquito hawks. Make no mistake, Regina would spaz out if a cockroach happened to turn up in a cupboard or something, but they didn't strike irrational fear into her. She treaded lightly around the little guy, careful not to step on him. Had her hearing been any better, it wouldn't have been too difficult to hear the throngs of bugs following them. She couldn't hear the rustle of bugs as they ran, or the hum of a fly's wings as it whizzed past their head. She only noticed what she could see, smell, or touch.
As for Agnes's peculiar scent, Regina hadn't gotten nearly close enough to Agnes to pick out her unclean scent for the rest of the foul smells that seemed to rumenate in the alleyways.
The cockroach that initially snagged Regina's intention was quick enough to catch up with Agnes, and after pacing her cloak for some ammount of time, managed to get enough momentum to hop onto her cloak's fringe before skittering up it. Regina couldn't contain the sudden laugh. The idea of a cockroach hitching a ride on the fringe of Agnes's cloak was mildly amusing, though she could only wonder how the other girl would react when she noticed the six-legged freeloader catching a ride on her cowl. The roach in question hastily made way from the fringe of the cloak up towards Agnes's shoulders, where he then sat himself and enjoyed the ride.
"Oh-" Regina began to say, feeling the need to now alert Agnes of the little cockroach upon her shoulder. However, the words halted in her throat, her brow furrowing. Agnes came to a halt by a rather derelict-looking wooden fence, pushing a few of the boards aside for them to walk through. She didn't seem to mind her little companion's presence, or notice it, and so Regina wasn't all too sure on how to approach the matter.
"Thank you," Gina said as she stepped through the fence, ducking her head as she went. In a casual, offhand sort of way, Regina answered, "Well, I'm actually here to check out some mutant schools, came all the way over here from California with this chaperone. She ditched me this morning and told me not to leave the room under any circumstances. I suggested we do some shopping together or something, but this woman's totally racist against mutants. So, rather than let my eyes wither while watching daily television, I decided I'd go out and see the sites, get a feel for the city. After all, if I might live here, I'd want to see what it was like."
Regina stopped once more, perhaps a tad apologetically concluding, "I mean, I never intended on getting lost, though it's been quite amusing to make my chaperone squirm at the idea of losing a client. I just wanted to have fun." She smiled a little at that, and continued, "And believe me, it was fun until I realized that I had no idea where I was. What about you, why're you wandering about, all by yourself? You don't look much older than me." Regina's gaze wandered to the roach again, but she said nothing. If Agnes didn't notice it, Regina wasn't going to call any attention to it. Who knew, maybe she didn't mind?
>> "Well, I'm actually here to check out some mutant schools, came all the way over here from California with this chaperone. So, rather than let my eyes wither while watching daily television, I decided I'd go out and see the sites, get a feel for the city. After all, if I might live here, I'd want to see what it was like."
Agnes had remained quite as she let the girl step through the fence and let her go on talking. The runaway really was interested but she had not expected the torrent of explanation that came from the younger girl. Then again, she really could not blame her. She was in a nervous situation with a stranger she hardly knew whom she was trusting to lead her through the streets and back alleys of New York to get her back home. Maybe rambling or over explaining situations was her way a coping.
Then again it was always better to not reveal too much information to a complete stranger. Hopefully that is something the girl would learn before it was too late.
She smiled though, kept on the friendly face she to keep the girl calm. The dark was pressing on them fast and as much as Agnes liked a friendly chat, but it was probably better that they did not delay her return to her hostel and chaperon much longer. Once the girl was through Agnes was quickly followed before once more returning to the lead the girl out.
>> “I mean, I never intended on getting lost, though it's been quite amusing to make my chaperone squirm at the idea of losing a client. I just wanted to have fun…And believe me, it was fun until I realized that I had no idea where I was. What about you, why're you wandering about, all by yourself? You don't look much older than me."[/color]
She had to admit, that it was a good question. It was true that Agnes was not much older than what she assumed Regina to be, but ironically she took on the role of protecting her. It was funny because in all her time on the streets she had always learned to never get involved and yet here she was…involved. There was nothing wrong in it, she had to admit, but taking someone else’s livelihood into your hands can be a little trying.
“I ran away from home. Been on the streets about…five…maybe six months? I can’t remember exactly when I left. My last time there left me…” she paused for a second, trying to collect her thoughts and push back painful ones, “…well…let’s just say a little bit in a haze. But I ran off and I’ve been leaving out here ever since.” she shrugged as she looked over and realized they were getting closer to Regina’s destination. That made things much easier. “But I’m crashing someplace else now. There’s a school for mutants that has taken me in. So I’m staying there until I decide to leave…or they do something stupid.” she said that last part with a bit of a smile as she led Regina down another alley, her hostel coming into view.

"'Ran away'?" Gina echoed. Her brows furrowed, and the corner of her mouth tugged downward. Her initial reaction was some form of pity and sympathy, though those emotions weren't really shown in her tone. Her real reason for having echoed Agnes was that she wasn't sure if she'd heard her correctly. However, internally, she admired the girl's strength to leave her awful situation, whatever it was. Gina didn't feel like prying into that subject too much, she could tell that it was a touchy one. But, whatever it was she'd suffered through, she was in a better situation now, at some mutant school. Taking such action required initiative.
"Wow, dude, that's intense," Gina agreed. They emerged from the alleyway, and suddenly the surroundings seemed much more familiar. She saw as the hostel came into view, the bland stretch of building with spatters of lit windows littered across the front, "But, it's for the better, I'm sure. I'm proud of you." Not as if her condolences mattered, but Gina offered them, a small smile on her face.
"Wow, you really do know the city quite well! Thank you so much," Gina gasped, skipping into the empty street before turning around once more. "I'm really grateful, really, I am-- I should pay you back." She passed the tiger from her clawed hand to her tail, grasping it with her tail as she used her hands to rummage through her messenger bag for something to give Agnes for her assistance, "Don't leave quite yet, okay? I owe you, I totally mean it."
She opened her wallet, realized that there were only about two dollars left, and tsked. She closed the wallet, continuing to rummage through her bag. Finally, her fingers found it, and her look of mild distaste for the lack of money in her wallet became a hesitant smile.
"Here," Gina said, proffering what her fingers had found. It was a friendship bracelet of tightly-woven embroidery thread, nearly an inch thick. The colors ranged from a black and white to various shades of soring green, and formed a geometric pattern all the way down. At both ends, loose string by which to tie it. The bracelet had been her project on the flights the night prior, a means by which to keep awake. She hadn't the intention of keeping it, but hadn't though of who to give it to either. After surveying the bracelet a moment, she held it out towards Agnes, still smiling, "As corny as it sounds, please accept this as a token of my gratitude, okay? I made it."
>> "Wow, dude, that's intense…But, it's for the better, I'm sure. I'm proud of you."
Agnes smirked a little inwardly at the comment. It was kind of ironic to hear those words from the younger mutant. To be honest she really was not all that proud of herself. She ran away from home, she lived on the streets and ate garbage, but then again…it was a decision that she made entirely on her own. She escaped a rather horrific home life in order to find some semblance of freedom. At least if she died out here…she died on her own terms. Not in the name of exorcizing a nonexistent demon.
Her smiled became apparent as she nodded to Regina, but before she could continue, the gargoyle chatterbox had continued on…
>> "Wow, you really do know the city quite well! Thank you so much…I'm really grateful, really, I am-- I should pay you back…Don't leave quite yet, okay? I owe you, I totally mean it."
“Well, when you’re always on the move, you do get to know the city pretty well,” she said warmly. But the second she saw the girl reaching for her wallet, Agnes immediately began to protest. “No, no, you don’t need to pay me anything. I’m just glad to have helped you get home before it got too late.”
It was Agnes. Before, in her old life, she loved being of help to her parents and school friends. Most would have called her a doormat and maybe in some cases she was, but she genuinely really did loving trying to help people when true opportunity came along. Helping Regina today brought back some of that satisfaction she used to have when she sincerely helped someone for the first time. It was a good feeling and one that she did not want spoiled with someone giving her money out of pity.
But once the lack of money was shown, she was greeted with something that actually caused her to pause.
>> "Here…As corny as it sounds, please accept this as a token of my gratitude, okay? I made it."
The smile that spread across Agnes face was the type of genuinely pleased smile that she had not done in she could not remember how long. She stared at the that little home-crafted, green bracelet and she actually felt a tear well up in her eyes. It was such a small, sweet gesture, the type that she had not experienced for months, probably years. Ever since she ended up on the streets people have only been mean or ill-natured. This young girl was anything but.
“T-Thank you.” she said with genuine pleasure at the sight of the gift.
Gently she reached out and took the bracelet from her, her eyes roaming over the nicely made bracelet. She sniffled just a little, not enough to be considered an emotional sniffle, more like she may or may not feel good. But she slipped the bracelet onto her wrist the second she received it. She was about to say something when a thought suddenly struck her. Reaching into her pocket, she prayed it was still there and tada…it was. From her jeans she pulled out the very small and almost cheap looking gold necklace she had found ages ago. It was not worth much and dangling from it was a little gold angel.
She smiled as she handed it out Regina to take. “You don’t get to be the only one to hand out pretty gifts.”

Gina practically danced with delight as the girl accepted the gift, bouncing up and down and clapping her hands faintly. Not only did she take the bracelet, but she actually seemed to like it! Not just the sort of 'Oh, that's nice' sort of like, but genuinely liked it.
"You're quite welcome," Regina sang, as the girl sniffled a little and murmured a thank you, "I'm very glad that you like it."
Agnes slid the bracelet on, and seemed about ready to speak, but then was silenced by an idea. She fished into her pocket, and extracted something, surveying it a moment. Gina stopped bouncing, curiosity peaked. Agnes proffered a piece of jewlery, a necklace with a thin gold chain and a small, gold angel dangling from it.
>>"You don't get to be the only one to hand out pretty gifts," Agnes said quitely, holding the necklace out for her to take. Gina cupped her hands beneath it, letting the charm and the chain pool into her open hands as she surveyed it carefully. She hadn't done anything to deserve it, did no good deed that needed to be left unturned.
"She's beautiful, Agnes," Gina sighed, her voice faint and happy, "Gosh, thank you so much." She unhinged the chain and brought the necklace around her neck, clasping it shut beneath her mess of curls. She peered at the angel around her neck, smilingly proclaiming, "It's my own little guardian angel. I love it!"
She looked up at the window to her room and then back at Agnes, for once short of words. In a low tone, almost a whisper, she groaned, "Guess I'd better go make my presence known to the chaperone, yeah? Thank you so much, Agnes! I totally owe you."
Gina gave the girl a quick hug before skipping across the street, waving at her newfound friend as she went.
>> "She's beautiful, Agnes…Gosh, thank you so much…It's my own little guardian angel. I love it!"
Agnes beamed a little as she watched the younger mutant slip the necklace on immediately. She was happy to give it away to someone who deserved it. Besides it looked like Regina was someone who would really know how to appreciate it. That made her smile all the more. After all the young girl was in the city all by herself, with a chaperone that obviously had no real care for her. She hoped that the girl would have sense enough to hide the necklace from her, at least until she got to whatever school she was going to.
She nodded gently as she looked down to the bracelet on her wrist. It really was the sweetest thing that has ever been given to her.
“I’m glad you like it. You take care of it, and I’m sure you’ll be taken care of in return.” Agnes was a little surprised at herself with that statement. Normally saying such things only reminded her of home and her horrible parents. But right now, it seemed like the right thing to say. After all, Regina was going to need some faith in order to survive now that she was by herself in New York.
>> "Guess I'd better go make my presence known to the chaperone, yeah? Thank you so much, Agnes! I totally owe you…See you around, okay?"
“I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m always around.” she smiled as she waved bye to the young gargoyle.
She sighed a little contentedly as she watched her go. She was happy to meet such a nice person, but still part of her was fearful for her. Life had a way of snatching the light from anyone’s eyes and unfortunately no one was immune to it. Agnes hoped and prayed that would not happen to Regina. She sincerely did wish her the best.

((Final post?))
Gina smiled and trotted across the street, waving faintly at Agnes. When she neared the other sidewalk, she peered upwards, towards the window to her room. Normal people would go inside and use the elevators, but Gina figured that she'd return to her bedroom the same fashion in which she had left. She jumped and spread her wings, reaching her floor in two, solid wing beats.
In a practiced fashion, she landed on the fire escape, peering into her window carefully. Her chaperone was slouched on the sofa, arms laced tightly across her chest as she glowered at the t.v. Gina stepped off of the railing and onto the platform, tapping on the window with one claw. The chaperone looked up sharply, practically jumping out of their skin, and Regina waved coyly, giving them a toothy grin. With an angry sigh, they stood and crossed the room, throwing open the window.
"Where have you been?" they barked, not in a concerned sort of way, but more out of annoyance. Gina laughed anxiously, bringing the tiger forward form her tail and into her arms.
"I told you, I went out to see the sights," Gina laughed, holding the tiger casually, "It's no big deal, I'm back now, okay?"
"I told you not to leave the room," the chaperone argued, their face contorted in anger, "Get inside, now." With that, they stepped back from the window, to allow for the gargoyle to squeeze in.
"Bite me," Gina murmured. She looked over her shoulder, to see if Agnes was there. Even if she wasn't, she waved anyways, and then disappeared inside.
