The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

This... had been a great idea. From the way she was hopping, from the way he was hopping, from the way emotions were bouncing and chirping like a bird on a telephone wire, the whole world could tell... this idea had been excellent. The motorcycle ride back to the mansion had almost been a bad idea, with all that bouncing. It had definitely taken too long.
The path from the garage to the dorm room had been a haze of motion blurs and unapproving faces. Maybe a teacher had noticed them spending an awful lot of time shuffling to and from each other's rooms or something? Said something about setting a 'bad example'? Told them to think about it? Shin hadn't really noticed or taken it to heart. His girl (his girl) was going to wear a kimono. That was all he could think about. It was kind of weird, actually, how that was all he wanted to think about, but there it was. A beautiful girl in a beautiful kimono. He didn't even know what sort of design the kimono had, but he sure as hell knew it'd be beautiful! Kealey was going to be wearing it, after all...
Kealey's grin as she fumbled for her key at her door, all the fumbling, made the wait seem even longer. Ages. Hours. Minutes. Minor increments of time. How long it had taken mattered. Or didn't, probably, because the end result made any angsting over waits a nonissue. The door opened with a click. They vanished into the room, all grins and good intentions. The door clicked shut behind them. Shin turned and locked the lock as Kealey danced her way to her closet.
"Be right back." Kealey grinned in Shin’s general direction.
"You might need help~" He sang after her. "I can totally do that."

Man Shin was excited. Kealey was pretty much bouncing from foot to foot with reciprocal glee. It was one of the advantageous disadvantages to her power, Kealey decided. If she was excited about something, and Shin was excited about something, she was double excited about it. The anticipation was killing her though…the ride home had seemed like it had taken ages…ages even though she knew it hadn’t been any longer than the original trip. This was such an amazing idea…why had she thought they’d needed to go all the way to the city museum…or the pier. This was going to be way better…
Walking through the school had felt….a little conspicuous though, and if she wasn’t mistaken there had been some legitimate disapproval floating through emotions at one point in their trek to the grown-up wing of the house. Oh well, she thought, surely they hadn’t been that obvious. And besides…she was so excited that the memory of that person faded before they even made it to the door.
The door…the silly stupid door that proved to be far more difficult to open than it should have been. Kealey fumbled the keys, grinned and Shin and finally got the thing open.
Into the room they went.
Kealey grabbed the box that held the kimono out of her closet, then headed for the bathroom so she could change, while Shin took care of the door. She said she’d be right back, and he offered to help her.
Kealey couldn’t help it, in spite of all that excitement, she started laughing. Into the bathroom she went, only bothering to close the door halfway before getting to work on the kimono in the box. If Shin peeked, he’d just ruin his own surprise. Besides, this way she could still talk to him, ”I’m sure you can…but wouldn’t that kind of eliminate the point?” she called, in response to the offer of help. Kealey wondered if that made sense as she looked at the pile of fabric in the box, though, if she remembered correctly…these things were rather complicated. And were her hands shaking just a little? Advantageous disadvantages…maybe she would need help.

>>”I’m sure you can…but wouldn’t that kind of eliminate the point?”
"Like wrapping my own birthday present? Maybe... but I see you every day." Shin said through a childish grin. He slid his back down against the wall to the right of her bathroom door and rested his head against it, staring at the ceiling. He chuckled to himself. "The kimono will still be a surprise, once I see it. And once we get it on you. Although, maybe..." He trailed slyly. "Wrapping my present would be counter-intuitive."

Yeah….this was going to be too complicated for her to do on her own, Kealey admitted to herself as she stood in the bathroom and studied the kimono. There were a lot of pieces…and ties…and things. She laughed as he explained how it would be like wrapping his own present. Something about that…didn’t make sense, but Kealey let it go for a moment while she slipped out of the clothes she’d worn and grabbed the main kimono. The pretty part with all the designs. Yes, she knew there were other, important parts if one was going for accuracy…but, if she were being honest, Kealey wasn’t all that worried about accuracy at the moment.
The main background of the kimono was blue, and large white sprays of flowers spread and curled all over the fabric. It was a beautiful contrast, and why Kealey had settled on this one above any of the others. It only took her a moment to slip her arms into the arm holes and as she did this, Shin continued to speak.
Ah..that’s what had been strange about his earlier comment. Pulling the kimono closed and grabbing the large sash, the obi, that mirrored the colors of the robe itself, she peeked around the door to where Shin sat, ” Exactly….” she said with a smile that was equal parts sly and teasing, ” You must ask yourself Shin, is it silly to wrap a present…when you’re simply going to turn around and unwrap it?”

Really pretty. Really pretty. Really ridiculously pretty. That was all Shin could think. If he were a machine, he'd be a vital signs life monitor device. And it. Would. Be flatlining. Kealey in her kimono was just a bit beyond defining with words. ... Other than pretty, of course.
He shook off the mental flatlining and found words, along with his old sly smirk, at her comment.
"We can always save everything and play with the wrapping paper and the bow later."
The gift that keeps on giving. That's what this was.

Shin was pleased. Shin was very pleased, already. Kealey had to grin at him as she moved a little more fully from behind the door, holding the outer robe shut, the obi dangling from her right hand. Her cheeks colored and she leaned back against the door frame, looking down at Shin where he sat.
He spoke, and she laughed, cheeks burning even brighter. She wasn’t embarrassed, not at all, but the heat in her cheeks could only indicate a deep blush, Kealey chalked it up to excitement.
”Sometimes that’s as much fun as finding out what’s under the paper.” she said quietly, but with no small amount of meaning. Kealey smiled some more.
”I’m glad you like it…” she added, as if he had voiced his pleasure with the way the kimono looked, instead of just feeling, ” But I don’t even have it all the way on yet…and I think you may have offered some help a few minutes ago.”

So many emotions. So many good emotions, and so much blushing. Kealey stood in her doorway and watched as Shin grabbed the obi and tossed it over his shoulder. Apparently they were done with euphemisms, and she wasn’t going to be getting any help finishing with the kimono. In fact, the blond decided as her boyfriend pulled her away from the door frame, it was beginning to seem like any work she’d done towards getting her kimono on had been counter-intuitive.
>> ”Wrapping paper be damned.”
Kealey agreed…doubly agreed, in fact, thanks to her powers. Quickly, and almost of their own volition, her hands loosed the grip they had on the front of the kimono so her arms could wrap around Shin’s neck, moving her even closer. There would be plenty of time later to see what the whole kimono ensemble looked like. It was, after all, Shin’s birthday...what he did with his presents was up to him, and Kealey was more than happy to help.
