The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a few sad days as am had come to the realization that he and his pack would have to part. Once things in his room started to break when the dogs were ruff housing and playing with Cammie or trying to all sleep on the bed Sam’s room began to feel cramped and overcrowded. He knew the day would come but he still couldn’t believe it was so soon. It had been two day since all of his dogs had been fixed and updated on their vaccinations not to mention dental and groomed. They had to be perfect, hell in Sam’s eyes they were perfect each one of them in their own ways but they had to be ready for what was about to come the final hour where they spent it as one happy pack.
Looking around his small room Sam was reluctant to leave it having all four dogs around his side and his cat curled up on his neck. Sam had spent days deciding if it was worth moving out of the mansion and into a large house with an even larger backyard so he could keep them all but realized that he was being selfish and though he could do it he still wasn’t ready to leave the mansion yet.
Having called three of his friend’s only hours before Sam told them all to come around the same time to pick up their new dogs. He couldn’t tell that if they were too thrilled about taking his dogs from him but Sam wouldn’t have it any other way. If his friends each took a dog Sam would be able to see them on occasion. Three of his dogs for three of his friends each one specifically picked to match their new owners personalities.
The toughest and probably the most difficult to control of the group was Thor his breed is difficult to begin with and needs work seeing as he is a working dog. Knowing someone else who was a relatively a hard worker Sam decided it was best if Shin took Thor. Thor was a great dog he just needed to be worked more than he was as of now.
Sighing as he eyed the smartest of the group other than Cammie, a hand ran up over the German Shepard’s head as Sam sighed patting Roxxie “Such a smart girl…” Sam muttered as her tail flopped up and down knowing exactly whom Sam was talking to. Roxxie was a smart as she was stubborn and as such she would be perfect for Sara who was just as stubborn if not more so than Roxxie.
A small whimper and a paw moved up to his lap as Mackenzie whined for a complement. Grinning Sam said, “And you're a sweetheart,” now scratching the retriever behind the head as he knew exactly who should take her, “Think Katrina could love you more than I could…” Sam felt the tears coming and fought against them, as he looked to his last dog the one that would stay under his care for obvious reasons.
A large snout rubbed his face on Sam’s cheek as the massive dog whimpered knowing that Sam was sad. “Don’t worry big guy you and Cammie are staying right here… don’t think you would last long without me…” a sad smile touched Sam’s face as his Saint Bernard Bruno hopped up from Sam’s side and crawled out onto his bed and put his head level with Cammie. Even if Sam could let all his pups go he was sure that Bruno being the big baby that he was die from being separated from Sam and Cammie.
Hearing a knock at the door Sam’s heart skipped a beat as he called out calmly as possible knowing that his room would feel bigger and emptier than it was as of now, “It’s open!”
OOC: Permission to GMod any and all dogs, remember they are friendly
Sara wasn’t sure what to think of the phone call she had gotten from Sam, on her cell phone. Sam was asking Sara to take one of his dogs, and she couldn’t say no, but at the same time, she couldn’t help but wonder if this was a joke or something. Sara was part predatory cat after all and Sam had seen her work with dogs before. She didn’t get along with them. Not the sled dogs in Canada anyways. They operated on more the rules of respect than the rules around trust or anything else. Other than the simple rules of respect, Sara didn’t even know what you were supposed to do with a dog.
Sure there were working dogs. The dogs in Canada were used for transportation. Dogs helped the blind get around and did cop work. Sara shook away the mental shiver on that thought of guard dogs. They were even eaten in some countries, but she was sure Sam didn’t want Sara eat this one. Er. Ah Roxie. Roxie was a pet name. Sara was familiar with the definition of a pet. She was familiar with the fact that norms liked to take their pet dogs for walks, and sometimes their pet cats, but aside from what she visually witnessed and her instincts, she was lost.
Sara found herself pausing just outside Sam’s door. Her eyes closed and the hand she was about to use to shove the door open, squeezed closed. Hesitating. Despite the fact she was confused and frustrated with animals, Sara liked the potential idea of this one. She just hated her lack of knowledge. What if she chose the wrong dog food? Could you kill a full grown dog by giving them puppy chow? Over the next few days, Google was going to be Sara’s best friend.
Sara’s lips pressed together and she pressed her way into Sam’s room. Not really sure what to expect till she saw it. She never met any of Sam’s dogs before and now. Well… there they were, and one of them was named Roxie and promised to her. “They’re all big, aren’t they.” Sara said as an odd sort of greeting. She awkwardly stepped sideways so she could lean back against the wall. Normally other animals didn’t like her and while she didn’t out right fear them, she staid back to gage the individual dog’s reactions to her.

Steam coated the surface of the bathroom mirror like ice. The curtain shifted as Shin stepped out of the shower, onto the bathroom mat, turned his feet twice to shake them dry, and grabbed a towel from the rack. As he dried himself off, he thought back to the conversation he'd had with Sam earlier that morning. From the tone of his voice and the message, the ice manipulator hadn't come off cheery as he usually did. The time had come, he'd announced, to find a new home for some of his dogs. Shin was surprised to hear he was the top candidate for one dog on Sam's list.
A tinge of worry pulsed in the bottom of Shin's gut as he thought about it. The blue towel pressed against his tussled mop of hair. He'd never had a dog before. Sure, he'd played with friends' pets, and his mom had a cat. He'd learned how to care for animals after dealing with that furball fatale, but... the thought of dealing with a dog in his room brought apprehension. He'd have to shift the breakables and the chewables to higher shelves again...
"Ah, well. Sam said his name was Thor. A thunderdog can't be all bad." Shin muttered to himself as he reached for a red t-shirt with black stripes across the chest on a chair by the white of the sink. He pulled the shirt over his torso and his head popped out the other side. He shook a few excess beads of water from the ends of his hair with an inward 'hmph'. Maybe Kasumi'd be able to help him with the pooch?
Finishing his dressing, Shin walked out the door and slipped through the hallways to Sam's room. As he neared it, his eyes narrowed; the door was opened a slight crack. Straightening the blue of his jeans, Shin popped his head in. His hand swung out in a two-finger salute.
"Yo." The black nose of a Siberian Husky prodded his knee. Shin looked down at Thor's panting blue eyes, and scratched between the dog's ears. "You must be Thor. Excuse me a sec. Gotta go talk to your daddy." He slipped past the gray and white dog. It swung its head, and followed him across the room to the bed, then lay down and yawned.
"Hey, Sam. How are you?" Shin sat down on the edge of the bed. He glanced up at the wall and nodded to the Werecat. "Miss Sara."
Katrina kept her shiny red cell phone on her dresser when she was in her bedroom. When she went out and about, she clipped it to her belt loop or to her purse or backpack if she had one with her. The phone had once belonged to Mars, but Abyss had said she could keep it so she could contact her seven big red brothers any time she wanted. He even promised to let her stay on their family plan, since they got such a good discount for having such a big family.
It had taken her about a week to remember that people wouldn't call her if she didn't give them her phone number. It had taken another fifteen minutes to find the menu and folder in which the phone number was stored. Then she had spent a very enjoyable weekend running around the mansion giving the number to everyone she knew and getting their numbers in exchange if they had a phone too. Then she had assigned everyone their own ring tone. She had also taken pictures so everyone had a picture appear when their phone called hers.
She still hadn't received any phone calls. Until today.
On this fine morning she had been laying on the ground outside underneath a flowering crabapple tree and enjoying the outdoors despite the math textbook that weighed heavily in her lap. She still had one last math test before summer vacation officially started. In 47.75 hours she would be free. She converted the minutes to a percentage of an hour in her head. She was feeling pretty ready for that particular part of the test.
She had been staring at the clouds, drawing triangles on them with her mind, when her thoughts were interrupted by a tinny music. “I'm a Believer” from the Shrek soundtrack started playing from somewhere. It took her a couple of seconds of looking around for the source before she realized it was her phone clipped to her backpack. She pounced on it and barely glanced at the picture of a glass of ice it displayed before she snapped it open and brought it to her ear.
This was the first call on her new phone! Clearly this was the best day ever.
It was about to get even better.
The call was from Sam. He said it was finally time for his pack of dogs to go on to new homes. That saddened Katrina at first, for while they could be noisy and occasionally got into trouble, she liked all of Sam's dogs. He went on to tell her that if she liked, MacKenzie could be hers. Her jaw had hit the grass when he said that. Oh course she would love to take care of her! She just... she'd better ask her mother first.
She scampered toward the kitchen, got about half way before she realized she had left all her things on the lawn and scampered back to get them. Twenty minutes later she had thoroughly convinced her mother that she was responsible enough to care for a dog, since she was already helping with many of the mansion pets. It was almost too good to be true. She scampered a little more (since that seemed to be her default mode of transportation today) right up the stairs and into Sam's room where there was already quite the crowd of animals, people, and animal-people.
She plopped right on the floor with a goofy grin and a wave to everyone. She scratched all ears that came within her range and let any of the dogs that wanted to sniff her do so. “Hi Shin, hi Sam! Hello...” Katrina remembered seeing the golden puma faced woman at Christmas time, but she couldn't remember her name. So, she just left a blank to be filled in. “Hi Cammie and Thor and Kenzie and Bruno and Roxie.”

The sudden commotion of activity in his room meant that the first person had arrived. As Sara entered his room all the dogs except for Bruno who was still sprawled out on the bed decided to check the giant feline out. Cammie perked her head up from Sam’s shoulder and stared at the giant cat lady and hopped up on the bed to watch her like a hawk. Watching how the dogs reacted to Sara tickled Sam’s funny bone a bit as they slowly approached her then sniffed the air. “Be nice.” Sam said to them in an order, which triggered their attention back to Sam.
Once they got the scent of Sara they started to warm up a bit more as Mackenzie was the first one to approach the cat lady to give her a few knees full of a wet dog nose. After Mackenzie started to dance around Sara to get her to play Roxxie and Thor decided to check her out.
The turn of the doorknob and Sam along with Thor’s attention was drawn to see the next guest. Smiling at Thor’s territorial response to Shin the dog let out a loud bark as Shin walked right past him to approach Sam, “He is all talk.” Sam said with a smile as the minute or so later Katrina entered the room. “Hey Katrina” Sam said with a smile as all the dogs rushed over to see Katrina who often was full of scratching and petting and as luck would have it each and every dog had a soft spot there, especially Bruno.
A wide grin hatched on Sam’s face as Bruno bounded off of the bed and let out a small whine as Katrina started to pet every one. Seeing all the attention that the dogs were getting Cammie turned to the cat lady and let out a small meow as she no longer felt the need to protect the pillow next to Sam’s.
Now that everyone was here he could start, “Now that everyone has arrived let me start by saying this isn’t going to be easy for me and for the first few days it won’t be for any of you either.” Sam said in serious tone looking at everyone one after another, “having a pet is a big responsibility, I don’t know your past history with pets but these guys are going to need a lot more attention.” Looking at the dogs still crowding around Katrina a loud whistle then a stern command of “Sit” could be heard throughout the room as all the dogs and Cammie turned to face Sam and sit. “To start do you guys have any questions about the basic care?” Sam asked in a lighter tone as all the dogs remained still.
Big surprise with the dogs acting the way they did. Sara had never been in Sam’s room before and she couldn’t help but wonder weather his warning to be nice was aimed at her, or the dogs. The dog with the fur closest to Sara’s coloration seemed to warm up first, and as she did a quick little play dance, that even a cat could understand, Sara settled to give her a playful nudge on the shoulder as her other hand moved to scratch, gently, behind her right ear.
By that time, tensions had disintegrated in the room, between the animals and the animal person, and Shin was making his grand entrance witch was emphasized even more by a loud sharp bark. Sara stifled the flinch as her ears flicked back for a second or two. If dogs do that all the time, maybe this really wasn’t the best idea. Still Sara’s stuburn side told her to stay with it. At least for Sam.
"Miss Sara."
Sara nodded back to Shin. “Please. It’s just Sara.” Miss sounded way too formal. More formal than Sara ever really felt.
The second a young girl came into the room with the rest of them, Sara was immediately ignored. Well that always works too to get rid of dogs. Children.
“Hi Shin, hi Sam! Hello...”
“It’s Sara.” She said again, nodding to the young girl whom she had seen around the mansion. “Hello Katrina.” Sara felt rather smug with herself. She knew Katrina’s face from having met her mother almost a year ago. Sara nearly never forgot a face. Especially when it was in an image. There had been other talk revolving around the young girl’s name as well. Specifically some advice Sara had given Koga about not being stupid.
Well it seemed thing were getting in order now, and as Sam started, Sara noticed she was being Meowed at. She rolled her eyes at the littler cat on Sam’s pillow as she walked over and took a seat on the corner of Sam’s bed. The single cat hopped over the pillow and rubbed her head against the side of Sara’s arm before Sara moved to scoop her up and what ever meows would have come out were replaced by a deep purr that wasn’t Sara’s. If only this one were Roxy. Sara thought to herself. The cat even continued the purr when Sam gave the command to Sit, and she settled her tail side down on the end of Sara’s knee.
“To start do you guys have any questions about the basic care?”
Where exactly was Sara supposed to begin there? Didn’t Sam know that she’d never had a dog, let alone handled any sort of pet aside from the Sled dogs in Canada. And Raina was the one giving the commands there. Not Sara. Sara had just been along for the ride. Ok so starting with the basics. “How about food. What do they eat and how much?”

"Hey, Kat." Shin smiled as she came in and was surrounded by attention. Thor got up and lazily wandered over to lick her face, then sat back down next to the bed. Shin turned to face Were when she commented on the 'miss'. "Ah, okay. No problem. Sorry about that."
He turned to face Sam as the man gave his speech. Shin nodded. It did sound tough. Especially since he'd had them since they were pups. Dogs grow up so fast...
"Adding to the 'what', are there any favorite treats they have? Or any toys they like? I figure the husky will need a lot of attention. Are there any games he really likes?" Shin leaned forward to rub Thor's back as he talked. The dog's ears perked and his head raised. One loud bark rang out.
Katrina knew the basics about caring for animals. They had all the same needs as people, pretty much: sleep, exercise, food, potty breaks, grooming. As long as she knew how much to feed Kenzie so she didn't either get too fat or go hungry, she'd be fine, and Sara had already asked that question.
“I can't think of any questions right now. At least, not any that haven't already been asked.” That had to be a first, having a curious nature Katrina usually had no trouble thinking of questions. Though, if she thought of some later, Sam lived in the same place as her and it wouldn't be too difficult to walk over to his room and ask for advice on the particulars of dog care.
Katrina continued scratching ears and chins, trying to give everyone attention. She wasn't the least bit intimidated, even by Bruno who was the biggest of the bunch. All the dogs were friendly, perhaps because some of Sam's personality had rubbed off on them. As she scratched here and there and everywhere, Kenzie even rolled half way over expecting to have her stomach scratched. Katrina obliged. The fur on her belly was very soft and it was a pleasure to run her fingers through the silky fur.
“Actually I thought of a question. What commands and tricks do they already know?” Thor apparently knew the word “treat” already, as Shin had demonstrated. What other things were they trained to understand?

They all had questions which was good in Sam’s opinion, questions were the best way to learn especially when someone had the answers, which Sam had. The first question to answer was Sara’s from what he could tell the dogs didn’t have a problem with her which was good, seeing as she would be taking Roxxie with her who was to smart for her own good. “Good question Sara,” Sam said as he smiled and looked down the cat who was still sitting in front of him, while the four dogs went back to greeting the people hoping to get some attention. “The first thing you guys need to know is the dogs need to be treated as that… dogs”. Leaning forward then crouching to the ground Sam started to pet Cammie and then he continued, “Roxxie, Thor, Bruno and Mackenzie have never had table scraps, if you plan on feeding them, I’d recommend the dog food from the bag I will be giving you, once a day two cups of the dog food should be enough,” he turned to Sara and said, “I’ll be giving you all their bowls so it should be easy enough to feed them.”
“Water, however needs to be constantly filled throughout the day, Thor in particular drinks about as much as Bruno. If the water bowl is empty fill it up!” nodding his head and petting all who came into reach Sam continued, “Treats,” he grinned slightly as all the dogs and Cammie turned his head to him waiting for the treats, “Are simple enough, jerky treats, pig ears, you know the normal dog treats, try not to give them to much other wise they will get fat.” He smiled and patted Bruno who had come into reach, “Onions, grapes, raisins, chocolates and alcoholic beverages,” Sam turned his attention Sara and continued, “There are more but I can’t remember it all, the Internet is a god source to find out most of the information.”
Smiling and looking to Shin and then clearing his throat as he called out to Thor, “Thor, come.” Thor eagerly answered Sam’s call and sat down. “Well Shin Thor, is a bit different than the other dogs.” He smiled as he patted the husky on the head and then looked up to Shin, “Huskies are a working breed of dogs, lots of energy and they need a lot of attention, I have been running a lot with him lately and for now it seems to be working, but if you can somehow find a job for him to do like carrying a trailer or something I think you might burn off some of that energy and he would be less inclined to cause trouble…” grinning slightly Sam and pointing over in the direction of the corner of his room a large box with an open top showed several toys sticking out, “To answer your question Shin, Thor is a sucker for tug of war.”
Nodding his head having answered both Sara’s and shin’s questions he turned his attention to Katrina, “Well Katrina, why don’t you try something with Mackenzie?” he asked as he wanted the young blonde pet the even younger blonde dog. Out of all the dogs Roxxie knew the most tricks but she was far too stubborn to do them willingly. Mackenzie on the other hand knew almost as much but was far more egger to please and perform than the Shepard. “Mackenzie knows quite a bit and she would be more than happy to perform for you.”
(OOC: Again feel free to Gmod the dogs and Cammie, all of the dogs would know a good amount of tricks so feel free to be creative)
