The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Attention MROers! The Mod Team has just gained two new members.
The first should come as no surprise: Juil, the player of Tarin, Kealey and Riley. She joined us some years ago, and quickly became one of our most active members, both IC and in the Cbox. Her dedication, helpfulness and professionalism are among the reasons she was chosen.
Juli's Mod name will be Sarasvati, after the Hindu Goddess of Education and Creativity. Both of those things are super important to her because IRL she's a teacher and she hopes everyone finds a muse somewhere! She found hers at MRO and can't wait to help the site in any way possible.
The second has only been with us since this Summer, but is quickly proving himself to be as addicted to this site as the best of us. Please welcome John, the player of Jorge and Agnes, to the mod team! His creativity in directing plots, talent for mediation that leave both sides better off and his welcoming presence in the Cbox speak for themselves.
Jorge's Mod name will be The Redcrosse Knight, because of Spenser's The Faerie Queene is his favorite piece of literature, having read it three times being a Literature major and a Librarian. The Redcrosse Knight stands for Virtue...something every MOD should possess and a virtue he hopes to attain one day.
Please give your warmest congratulations and support to Sarasvati and The Redcrosse Knight.
In other news, The Drug Plot has now reached the third stage.
What does this mean for you? For starters, there are several humans with temporary mutant powers running amok in New York. Mutants of the non-natural persuasion are unable to control their powers unless they are experienced drug users.
And most importantly, you may now reference the drug and run into humans who are temporarily mutants. Feel free to use this plot device as you please in your threads, but remember to keep your NPC's powers reasonable and that if you have any reoccurring NPCs in mind for plots, please run them past the mod team in advance.
If you would like more information please see the Drug Plot Plot post. To refresh your memories, here are the down and dirty details of the Street Drug.
[/b][/center] The drug works by attaching a snippet of mutant code to the human's genetic code. It bonds there and has a limited amount of time before it dissolves away. In the attaching stage the drug will alter the human's genetic code in the following ways:
Because the code is only attaching a weaker mutant factor onto what is already existing it will NOT work for mutants with an already active x-gene.[/ul]

"Smooth runs the water where the brook is deep." - Shakespeare
HISTORY Jorge Cervantes was born and raised in Southern California. He lived a happy and normal life with his sister Jayda and his two parents in the city of Long Beach. He grew up a normal kid, got into small, meaningless trouble, did well in school and had best friends. When he was fifteen, though, his life changed on one hot summer day at the beach. Jorge, at the time, had a girlfriend who started out as his best friend. He and Nichole were inseparable, though they tended to have their arguments, as is the way with young love. But on this particular day, with this particular fight, Jorge watched as she disappeared out into the water to swim and never came back up. That day his ability to manipulate water developed. Through panic and sheer force of will Jorge parted the waters and found his girlfriend on the wet sand. He retrieved her body but she had already passed by that time. Once on shore, Jorge passed out due to the sheer pressure of moving so much water and remained in a coma for a month.
Upon awakening, his parents informed him that it was time for them to move. While he was unconscious, he and his family received praises as well as threats. Many people viewed him as a religious miracle, others as a sacrilegious delinquent. So once he was well enough, Jorge and his family fled to Miami, Florida where he spent the next leg of his life. He never practiced his abilities in front of them, though secretly he did develop them. There was no need for them to worry that he began to tap into those powers again. For years this remained a secret and they lived their lives as normally as they could. Jorge went to college, got his degrees in Criminal Justice and Literature from there joined the police academy. It was then that his job became his life. He found his want to help people, especially because he could never help Nichole.
After years of working for the Miami police department and having to deal with his secrets, tough decisions, and a solitary life, Jorge finally made the decision that he wanted something new. He wanted to be among more mutant kind, in a place that could really use his help. That was when he requested the transfer to New York City. It was hard to leave his family behind, but it was necessary. Transferred into the new Mutant Related Crimes division, Jorge now starts his life in a new city with a new life. So far he has met many strange characters, made some enemies, but also some close relationships. He now works to the best of his ability for New York and puts his powers to as much use as possible.
POWERS Jorge Cervantes the mutant ability of seizing and manipulating water. He cannot create water from his body, but instead he must find a nearby source to manipulate it from and bend it to his will. It does not matter what type of water it is, whether it be salt, fresh, or bottled, but the more diluted the water is with other chemicals, the harder it is for control. He finds these abilities useful to him when he is on the job. Through practice he has learned how to fire extremely fast moving jets of water from water sources, create fast moving shields, as well as globes of water which he can use to quasi-drown his targets into submission.
