The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Her face heated up at little with the light teasing, but it was fine. She rather enjoyed it. She had to physically restrain herself from trying anything in the damned elevator though, what with April pulling her in like that.
She also kept her lips tightly sealed about her secret, just praying that it wouldn't startly the woman too much and kill the mood. She thought it was personally very romantic. She'd have to do things like this more often in the future, if it went over well.
"Ah, man... if you make me blush anymore i'm gonna pass out from the pressure in my head alone." The artist chuckled, watching the numbers change. Eventually they made up to her floor, and Shelby allowed herself to be pulled along as she glanced around. "It's funny how style wise this city isn't all that different from Seattle."[/color] The fluttering grew more intense the closer they got.
"It also helps that I am not remotely as drunk as the last time I did this with a girl." Wait, was that taboo to bring up? "I'm looking forward to being able to remember everything this time." Foot, welcome to mouth. She clammed up a little.
Shelby shot a smile at April and giggled. "Not terribly nervous, really... excited and... butterflies."
She shifted a little closer to bump shoulders with the girl. "I've been in one real relationship, and it's only been a few years since I found out I was into girls." Thinking back on the experience had it was minimal, but god. Olivia hadn't had any complaints and neither had she.
"I'm looking forward to learning a bunch of new things." She glanced at her drawing pad. "And maybe showing you a few things too."
Her cheeks were hot again as they climbed out of the cab. Having a beautiful woman insinuate wonderful things to her was heaven, really. Just the distraction she had needed from the bout of existential dread she had come down with.
"Lead the way, babe." She chuckled, and it only sounded a tiny bit nervous. There were butterflies trapped behind her ribs, fluttering wings incessantly tickling her.
She clutched her book to her chest as they walked, keeping a firm grasp of April's hand with the other.
She fished a few colored markers from her bag just to give the work a little more depth and make it extra cozy for when she needed it. "Thanks, landscaped and still lifes aren't my strongest area, but I get by."
With a little color she added into her picture, she tucked her pen and markers away again. She kept her drawing out.
"When we get to your place I have something else to show you, too. I think you'll like it." Most people would, she assumed. She wriggled in closer and reached out to snag the hand that was tracing circles on her knee. She brought it up to her lips to kiss April's knuckles affectionately.
She started blocking out a few shapes that would turn into a cozy looking log cabin, with a stone built fireplace and a comfy looking fluffy rug in front. After the initial scene was blocked out she added in a few quick details here and there. A roaring fire settled behind a vintage screen, pillows to lounge on, the whole works. She peppered in what looked like snow falling past a window on one side, and called it quits.
"Well, what do you think?"
Her eyes twinkled mischievously in the dim light, suggesting that she possibly had something up her sleeve.
The artist took the offered handup, wincing at the ache in her leg as she put weight on it. She certainly didn't want to be around when the cops burst in either, considering the very real possibility that the police were still looking for those involved in the protest.
She waited until her savior was ready to hobble on out of the place, bypassing a register that somehow had caught on fire and waaaay too many unaccompanied children scrambling about to be normal. Where were their parents? What the hell was going on? Deciding she didn't wanna know enough to investigate at the moment, she got to the glass front doors- which rolled apart easily- and stepped foot outside.
...straight into a goddamned unknown city.
The parking lot ahead of them was crowded, and buildings that were taller and more squished together than Seattle loomed over head. She froze on the spot, eyes roving around. There wasn't a hint of tear gas in the air. No protesters running from the fight that had broken out, nor cops swarming in to shut it all down.
Where in the world was she?
Oh@#$%, the cops!
Her hand bumped her purse and she heard the distinct jangle of keys. Experimentally pressing a button caused a Beep-BEEP to sound out from the parking lot. She spotted a maroon suburban soccer mom van towards the front of the lot.
"I have a car?" Sirens pierced the air again, growing closer. "I have a car!" She turned to look at Rayne and nodded her head in the cars direction. "Let's get out of here!"
When she piled herself into the drivers seat, she was reminded of how long it had been since she had actually driven anywhere. A year maybe? Jeez. The van was clean, but there was an empty car seat in the back. Ok, maybe it wasn't her car after all. Maybe she was borrowing it?
Shelby waited to see if Rayne was going to come along, while plotting an escape route down the stretch of road that went past the grocery store they had come out of.
She was getting a little heated, especially with those wandering hands. By the time April pulled back she was flushed and panting just a bit, and all shy smiles.
"Suppose you're right. Don't wanna run out of the fun stuff in a stuffy old cab."
Their driver grunted. Shelby had the decency to squeak an apology and he went right back to ignoring them.
Since the artist wasn't sure how long of a drive it would be, so she shuffled her bag into her lap and wiggled her drawing pad out and her pen.
"At the very least we can pass the time in style." She chuckled, snuggling into April's embrace as she uncapped her pen. "Give me a subject. Anything at all."
Given what she had learned about her power in the last few days, she felt that an innocent little trick like this would certainly spice things up and maybe earn some brownie points. She started edging out a rough frame around the page.
April leaned on in. There was an arm snugly around her and then the blond was gazing down at her in just the perfect way, street light flashing across her pretty features as they drove.
April leaned in for a kiss; Shelby met her half way.
It was deeper, hungrier. The Artist leaned in more and snaked her own arms up to touch the woman, curling the fingers of one hand gently behind the nap of her neck.
The kisses kept coming and Shelby ramped up the intensity a little bit more, nibbling at the other girls lips gently between kisses. She paused for a quick breath and pulled slightly back with a giggle. "Let me know if I do anything awful..., i'm still a little new to... this."
She waited but a moment before diving headlong back in to lose herself some more in those wonderful lips.
Shelby liked kissing. Like... a lot. Her very first experiences were peppered with heated kisses that had left an impression her.
"Glad I chose well!" She laughed, letting herself be led by the hand by the beauty ahead of her. It struck her again just how lucky she was.
She focused on the tingle still on her lips, and the warmth wrapped around her hand, contrasting it with the little puffs of breath escaping her into the night air.
"If you're offering food after, i'm offering the cooking! I make a pretty mean Mac n' cheese if you are up for it."
Cabs in the city were like cockroaches, so it wasn't long before one rolled to a stop for them. Shelby allowed April to take the leave both because they were going to her place, and because she seemed more familiar with the city.
Once they had both climbed inside, she found her thoughts drifting to movies where lusty couples got frisky in the back of city cabs.
Was that really a thing?
She blushed and cast a look at her sultry companion.
She still resembled a cooked lobster as they stepped out into the chilly air. She gripped April's hand tight, stepping in until her shoulder bumped hers. "I'm in a hotel at the moment and it's... uh... as you would expect for this city in this part of town."
She really didn't wanna get down to business on a lumpy mattress. "So your place is probably preferable." She winked, cheeks now rosy only from the cold as she settled back into things.
"Before that though..." Now that they were outside and away from most prying eyes, she stepped a little closer and reached up to brush some of those lovely curls back from April's left ear. The distance between then was easy to close, and she pressed her lips gently to Aprils in an exploratory kiss.
She was glad she had invested in flavored chapstick after-all, cherries were her thing.
It was a gentle, smooth kiss, and then she stepped back slightly.
Shelby was hooked, but OK seeing as those feelings seemingly were being reciprocated. So, unless April ended up being a crazy sex murderer, she was feeling pretty alright with things. "I wouldn't mind being distrac--"
"Oh my god," The bartender, who had been eavesdropping on almost everything, slammed a her cleaning rag down on the counter, "Just go get a @#$ing room already, we don't all need to see you two @#$%ing each other with your eyes!"
Shelby jumped, and a startled laugh burst out of her. "Sorry, sorry!" She hurried to either finish her few leftover shots or slip them off to the side. Her whole face had gone red from embarrassment, but she was grinning.
After settling a generous tip on the counter, she turned back to April and laughed.
Her pretty blush darkened slightly at the hand on her knee. She took a chance and dropped her own hand down to rest softly over April's.
"Suppose it's a good thing you ended up here, then right? What brought you in this place anyway?"
The Artists was focused on how mesmerizing April's eyes were; A beautiful splash of brown and green melting together. Her gaze dropped to her lips for just a second, but it was enough. She glanced away while licking her own and reached for another pink shot.
"What are your plans for the rest of the night...?" She was fishing, just to be sure. She was still new to the game and a little uncertain after all.
She turned her back to April, trailing them around a little bit along the way as ideas bloomed in her head. "I've got a few ideas if you don't."
Her cheeks pinked the tiniest bit, but she maintained eye contact back and waggled her brows a little. The pink darkened a bit more with the compliment, especially when it came from a knock out like April. How had she been blessed with the apparent ability to attract the attention of bombshells? This was nuts. Was it the big nerd energy?
Pulling her pink hair over a shoulder, she tossed back another shot to cover her blush and licked her lips clean of the sugar stuck to the glass. What did she like to do?
"Other than beautiful women?" She flashed a smile and a wink.
"The wooing is definitely a bonus no one told me about when I chose my degree." She chuckled, "Other than art, I dunno... I like hiking and stuff, and arcade games."
She thought of the Arcade downtown in Seattle, but shook it off before it could settle and ruin the mood.
"What are sexy blondes such as yourself into, might I ask?" Her heart fluttered a little as sh angled at smile at April. She was sill new at this and all!
She probably had dropped it somewhere. Sounded like something she would do.
While April spoke she got lost in her own thoughts a little. What if her dad or mom had picked up? What if she had dared to go to that address on the card? So many questions. When April referenced her again, she snapped back out of it.
"God yes. I want to drink enough that none of this bothers me anymore." Back was a little smile at last.
Her life may have been absolute trash at the moment, but that didn't mean she couldn't have some fun with it. Trash panda time it was! "Do you do shots? I'll admit... i'm not really a big boozer, but one thing I discovered is that I like shots a lot."
She downed the rest of her spicy tomato juice, grimaced a little, and set the empty cup aside. When the bartender swung by she would place her own order for a new round of something, anything really.
"My first time in a bar and the girl I liked introduced me to this drink called a Panty Dropper." She giggled immaturely behind her fingers. "I don't have enough shame to not admit it became my go to drink."
Eventually six small pink shots were plopped down in front of her, each with a little slice of lemon on top.
"Cheers!" She twisted the lemon, lifted the little glass and pounded it back like a champ.
She held the next out toward April with a twinkle in her eyes. "Want one?"
April knew more than her, and that was less comforting. She tried not to let some sort of weird jealousy ruin the night through.
"I didn't have a phone on me for whatever reason. Maybe I dropped it? I don't know. Woke up in a strange place and had a syringe jammed in my leg." She paused, "I probably should have taken that thing with me, but in the moment I was more worried about being arrested and where Olivia had gone. Didn't realize I had been dropped in a whole new time period."
She chuckled awkwardly and played with the condensation on the outside of her glass.
"Haven't figured much out on my end yet. My ID has an address and all but I'm kinda too afraid to go there and see all this stuff i'm not ready to deal with, I guess." Like who the guy was, or the baby for that matter.
