The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He nodded in agreement, the conservation of energy a familiar concept for him when it came to powers. "You can’t make something from nothing, so when I make plants grow, or seeds spout, the energy they use to do that has to come from somewhere.” Was a pretty fair point. Though one had to ask how all that energy got from point A to point B. If this was being studied at all he was sure that for both him and Janelle it'd end up like a particle or electrical current. Or some sort of energy conversion wave. There had to be something going on.
And it seemed like he was right on the nose about her not being nocturnal. She was in fact lonely. Perhaps an extrovert or maybe she was just too new to have any friends to bother in the mansion at this time of night. He was willing to guess the second because she was new-ish, in her own words. "Indeed you did. Personally I'm just here to avoid my roommate and indulge in food I shouldn't be having at this hour." He might end up waking up sick but it was worth it.

He smirked at Jiri's questions, glancing at him over the computer screen. "Well, InvasionoftheBS, I know it because I did research, lots and lots of research. Kind of for the hell of it really. Also I never specified which part of humanity was which kind of dog. For all you know maybe chihuahuas are the mutants." Well more like he came across the information as he was studying animal anatomy. Wikipedia was probably his favorite website whenever he had his hands on a computer.
"Sometimes I have, usually you can get a good sense when someone doesn't want you around. So I just leave. And you know there's a video of me taking a beating because some assholes don't like my genetic set, so..."he shrugged, tried to play it off like it was no big deal but more often than not it hurt when someone was actively disgusted by his very existence.
He grabbed one of the extra pillows, hugging it to his chest to rest his chin on.
The next question made him pause, glancing over at Jiri, wondering if it was even appropriate to answer it truthfully. "I...actually ran away before anybody found out...I found out when I was ten-ish, thought I was possessed by a demon for a little while before actually paying attention to the news and what my body was telling me, and by the time I was thirteen, I decided it would be best to just leave. Probably caused myself more pain than I would have if I just fessed up and hoped for the best."
He smiled a little at the idea of a factory reset and shook his head. "Yeah, if only it were that easy. One factory reset please and could I get an instruction manual, cause this system is dumb."
The mutant registration act...the idea made him shudder.
"It terrifies me, while also making a horrible sense. For population data, I get it, people need to know how many of which kind of people so they can appropriately address issues and protect minorities. I understand having it on a drivers license or id's because again important data to factor into your needs as a citizen." Those were the appropriate ways to use population data anyway. But who said the government always did the appropriate thing.
"However, the way that it was used, to round up innocent people. Children even. To deny any rights or freedoms, beat and abuse them. It was terrifying to hear some of the stories older mutants had of the place. The camps were my nightmare fuel as a kid. I was lucky that my mutation showed up just after those places were closed down. If I had been born a few years earlier...I shudder to think what would have happened."
Yeah, ten year old him might have become a killer much quicker if exposed to the camps. Or he might have died himself. There was really no telling what would have happened.

He glanced at his roommate, knowing the first question came from him. He knew the concern there. Jiri didn't want to end up being a target like a large majority of the population. But lucky for Jiri, his mutation put him relatively out of the line of fire. Practically an unknown.
"It depends on where you are and how the population feels towards mutants. New York has probably the most clashes between mutants and non-mutants. But I think that has more to do with a generally more crowded population. I've been to a couple small towns in Ohio and they treated me alright."
"How to tell if your a mutant? I honestly don't know. For me it was an instinct, kind of a pull in the right direction. Like someone took my hand and told me what to do, without actually doing any of that. For others, it might happen by sensation or emotion. You just don't know until it happens."
He chuckled when Jiri blurted out his surprise but was equally surprised by the massive amounts of people who seemed to care about this factoid. He frowned, nervousness made apparent even as Jiri teased him. "Ah, um, well first off, yes that was my roommate and secondly, why does it matter if I've dated or not? It hasn't been exactly a priority."
His priority had been survival up to this point and he wasn't sure if he should tell them that. Homelessness wouldn't exactly be sexy. But then again, he didn't want to be sexy to these people. He was more interested in getting the facts straight. Still his former home status was not something he wanted to flaunt.
Apparently his roommate didn't like the bodyguard comment either and he tossed the pillow back with a chuckle.
"Great-great-great grandmother huh? I suppose it'd be a possibility. I mean technically every human being is related because humans came from a relatively small group. So humanity, mutants included, is just one big pile of distant relatives having babies."
"I suppose it's possible but it doesn't look like the mutant gene does anything in halves. So either you are or you aren't. You can't get mutation through blood transfusion, again it's not a virus or bacteria, it's a gene. So just like blood type your body would more than likely reject it as useless and toss it out. By "getting it on" I assume you mean sex and I would assume it's no more difficult for physical mutants than everyday people."
The last couple of questions truly made his eye twitch, "Murderous mutants, as you put it, are calmed just the same as any body. A man with a gun or a knife are talked down and so too would mutants. The damage done by mutants is honestly no greater than those who have killed for centuries. Need I remind you that humans have being on a destructive path for a really long time. The only reason the world isn't a nuclear creator is because of mutually assure destruction."
"And no I don't think mutants are superior or more evolved. From what research I can find on the matter, mutants are a subset of a base human. There's a great potential to branch off. But due to the randomness of the gene, it's more akin to the canine "slippery gene". In which one or few genes are responsible for a large amount of change. Honestly dogs are a great example of massive variation within a species. A chihuahua and a great dane may look vastly different but they're still both dogs. They both still belong to canis familiaris which comes from the same branch of wolves, canis lupus. In the same vein, both mutants and non-mutants belong to homo sapien sapien, who branched off from homo antecessor and-I'm rambling aren't I?"
He gave a nervous chuckle, covering his face with an embarrassed sigh before looking at Jiri first, then screen, "Sorry, genetics is probably one of my favorite topics."

"Well they last as long as I want them to. Or rather as long as I can stay awake and eat the right amount of food." He grabbed one of the bag of baby carrots and opened it, spilling it's contents onto his plate. He munched on them for a little while, watching his moth rest on her flower. It was an idyllic scene with some strange undertones.
"So, what are you doing awake? You don't look like the nocturnal type." There were plenty of students that were, some even fit the bill of vampire. But she didn't seem to be like that and here powers would certainly indicate someone who spent a lot if not all their time in the sun. If his pattern held this would be true or if only partially true.

He grinned at her little show. It was a pretty power, he'd giver her that. Definitely something non-mutants wouldn't mind having around. He was willing to bet that her power showed up in a moment of calm or happiness. Probably was wonderful for her. No, he wasn't jealous, really he wasn't. “That isn’t for eating, just decoration. What do you really do? Convert food into super speed? Use food to fly? Something not at all related to food?”
He chuckled at her comments, "Well it's actually more food related than you think." He poured the chips on top of his partially eaten second sandwich and held his hand over it. It wasn't a necessary motion but it helped a little. The food broke down under his power and reformed into a cluster of blue winged moths. The little creatures scattered for effect.
"Decaying organic matter into organic life."he smirked, knowing the reaction by now would be a positive one.

“You know, I think you were thinking when you grabbed all of this stuff. Do you have psychic powers or something? Because I swear you knew exactly what I wanted before I did. This stuff is awesome, want some?”
He chuckled and shook his head, "Nah, everybody loves sugars though. Sugar and fat, two very common human cravings." He finished off his sandwich and reached for another he had made, along with a bag of chips. Hopefully by the time he was done eating Jiri would be fast asleep and he wouldn't have to be worried about being possessed.
Though honestly he was just getting a bit of cabin fever being stuck with nearly nothing to do. "But, speaking of powers, what's yours? If you don't mind me asking." It was something to catch his attention at least. From what he's seen, most powers were unique to the individual, and he was starting to get a sense of a pattern based on not only attitude but surroundings.
There just weren't enough studies to confirm this pattern. Which was odd given how much the world seemed terrified of mutants existence. One would think that they'd look at every possible reason for this to be happening. Still, as thoughts after midnight usually were, it was a fleeting notion with his focus on her.

Alex sat down in front of the older man. No apparently much older mutant, not by just decades, but centuries of time. This man must have seen the world wars, civil rights eras, the registration act. He was there for all of that and more. It was a ridiculous notion but not one that he could dismiss. There were mutants out there who lived just as long as Hades and have seen just as much. But he didn't think they were as powerful. He couldn't help but give Hades more respect that he already had.
But he still could wrap his head around the idea that the only thing Hades wanted out of this was a potential ally. Not even a guaranteed ally. Wouldn't that be a waste of time and resource? A risk that wouldn't really work it. He caught the questions on the tip of his tongue and waited until Hades was done speaking.
"Perhaps I also see it as a chance to pass on some small portion of my knowledge to other people. Perhaps it might do some good. From what I can see, there are turbulent times ahead for mutants."
He frowned and thought about this. "I guess you've seen a lot turbulence before, you probably have seen plenty of it before...Triple digits...God..." He leaned back, smiling a little, "I guess anything I tell you would be old news, something you've probably heard or seen before." No need for back-stories then, not unless Hades really wanted to hear it for some reason. Hades probably has heard enough tragedy in his lifetime. He didn't need his own on top of that.

He shrugged at the first question, not really phased by it for it's like specificity. "Oh well, I've been hurt a bunch of times. Sometimes on accident, sometimes not. I'm not gonna get into it but let's just say I'm pretty familiar with how the body heals." He pulled his shirt back down and rolled his eyes at the next question.
"You can't just activate it, as far as I know, and if any alternative activations do exist, it would probably be more trouble than it's worth. Just don't do it. With how random mutations are you don't know what you'll get, it could be really dangerous." He sounded a bit concerned, a lot of mutations ruined lives or made it extremely difficult to live normally. He glanced over at Jiri, knowing that sleep would never be the same for him.
"I blame nobody but the assholes who attacked me. They made their choice..."he sighed, corking his brow at the next question. "Do I only date other mutants? Honestly, I've never actually been on a date. It's not really something that I think about." He ran a hand through his hair, looking a bit nervous and wondering what kind of reaction that would garner from these romance addicted people.
"I don't know. It's hard to imagine my life without it. I kind of got my powers early on in life, so for as long as I can remember it's been apart of me. I'm sure other mutants feel different, since we're all affected by our mutations differently." It was hard to imagine himself without a connection to his constructs.
He chuckled at the last one, grinning at Jiri but he didn't turn the camera around. Jiri wanted to hide from the love and that was fine by him. "My roommate, slash bodyguard, he's got a cooler power than me to be honest. But he doesn't want people to see his face. Likes his privacy." He winked at Jiri, laughing at his own joke and whatever face Jiri pulled.

He looked from the questions to Jiri and back again. It was clear he was starting to regret this decision but there was no turning back when there were more people than he had ever faced asking him questions. He was going to have to ask Jiri some questions about the internet after this. He had only ever used it for research.
Taking a breath he went about reading and answering the question.
"Okay you guys, really like ColdSteel. Personally I've never met the guy, so I wouldn't know. Plus there are other factors like, is the adapted trained in fighting or not and what kind of sharks are we talking. As for how the cops treated me. Well they did roll up when I had just killed a man so they were understandably freaked out. I'm just grateful they called an ambulance and didn't just stuff me in the back seat of one of their cars. That said I did wake up cuffed to the bed and collared."
He corked a brow at the stitches question, "I dunno if you wanna see the stitches, they're kinda gross..." He glanced up at Jiri, thinking about it. He wasn't exactly shy when it came to his body. He had after all spent the majority of his life outside, so some nudity was bound to happen. "But if you really wanna see..." He hiked up his shirt enough to reveal the bandage pad and slowly peeled that back to show where the knife had pierced him.
"You guys see that? There's some salve there to speed up the healing process but it hurts like a bitch to move around too much." Stripping for the internet, this was probably something Jiri hadn't planned for. "But it's not the first time I've been injured like this, so I know how to deal."

Alex nodded in understanding before taking his leave and heading upstairs. Going to sleep was harder than expected, nervousness still vibrating in his bones. Fears for the future plaguing him into his dreams. So when he awoke he felt just as tired as when he went to bed. But it couldn't be helped.
He got up, showering and dressing quickly. He grabbed his own breakfast, being sure to fuel up but not too much as to get sick later. He wasn't ready to attempt minimizing his intake just yet.
Training continued after that, learning by rote the moves and how to use them quickly and efficiently. He wasn't great at first, perhaps a little more tired this second time around. But he was getting the hang of it, slowly. Hades seemed patient with him at least, so he didn't complain.
For him he was still trying to figure out what was the catch in all this. So far Hades hadn't requested anything, hadn't even hinted what was in it for him. The man simply seemed interested just because. He worried about it if only on and off. He didn't really sense anything bad, no gut feeling warning him of danger. The older man definitely didn't give off a creeper vibe.
During one of the breaks he just had to ask. "So, not that I'm not grateful for everything, but why are you doing all this? So far you've only asked about my mutation and nothing else. So what's in it for you? As far as you know I'm just some kid, a nobody." And honestly that's what he was. He didn't have any connections or family, no money or resources to speak of. All of his belongings fit inside one backpack and his mutation, at least in his opinion, really wasn't combat ready and it definitely wasn't sell-able.

"Have you talked to the Mansion staff? They've got to know some lawyers that are decent with mutant cases. No way this is the first time one of their students has had to defend themselves."
"Not yet but I might in the morning. Actually I probably should, not only because of what happened but I uh...left without really saying goodbye or giving them a reason." He coughed and tried to ignore the guilt in his gut, as well as the sensation of fear. They might be angry that he left and his returned was accented by a court trial for killing someone in self-defense.
At the question of live video, Jiri seemed surprised at first then all at once way too excited. "You want to Skype the internet?...Dear god, why not. As long as we only accept text questions, it should stay manageable. Let me get my webcam turned on."
He watched the other boy set up the technical stuff, things he never really thought about or heard of. If he was going to live a normal life, when he have to get as knowledgeable about computers. Even this small thing felt way out of his range. Before he could even put any larger thought into it, Jiri had everything set up and was hiding behind the computer.
"Just keep that camera the hell away from me, okay? Some of us aren't ready to be celebrities. My underwear is famous enough as it is."
"Right, lets get started then." He hit the start button and watched video chat room come to life. There were already way more people than he felt comfortable with. "Um, hi, all of you people...wow there are a lot of you...So what are your guys questions?" He started reading the questions that were popping up in the chat room, it all felt like it would going by way too fast.

He sat up again and watched the replies roll in, some of them serious, others not so much. "Yeah, no kidding. Looks like I'm become internet popular."he chuckled, stretching before he went about replying.
1. Well, no, most mutants can't tell if someone is a mutant unless it's physically obvious or if they tell one another. I've had plenty of occasion where I've run into people who looked like they weren't but were. I've always been fairly open about my x-gene, so I guess when I share they tend to share. It's, I guess, a mutual respect sort of thing. A need to look out for each other. It's weird, even some loners will help out a fellow mutant in need. 2. I can't say, security reasons. But I'm sitting on my friends bed in the picture, so I'm guessing those are his.
He smirked at Jiri and looked behind him. Indeed there was a pair of underwear under a folder. "Clean up after yourself." He laughed, tossing the boxer-briefs at Jiri.
3. Okay yes, there were. No denying that, but that's not my specific power. 4. I have no freaking clue. I'm under house arrest essentially until the trial. There was plenty of evidence for self-defense, including the bus driver and the camera on the bus. But there still might be a chance I could go to jail if the judge or the jury are against mutants. I don't even know where to get a lawyer. I'm gonna need to do some research. I really don't want to go to jail. They already collared me in the hospital and having my power restricted for so long is disorienting. I can't imagine what it'd be like for years. 5. Heh, thanks. I don't know, maybe some of the astronauts are mutants. 6. I'm sorry, the pills make me sleepy.
He pouted playfully at Jiri, "I'm sorry." He pressed the create post and watched the questions roll in. "I feel like if we could rig a live video that'd be more interesting and faster. Then again, probably also more hectic. What do you think?"

"Ooo boy, that was fast..." He watched the replies pop in rapidly and it was kind of overwhelming to see this many people wanted to talk to him. He took a breath and decided to answer as many as he could in one go. That seemed like the most efficient way to go about it.
Alright so I'm gonna answer a bunch at a time, there are so many of you.
1. To put it simply my power is the ability to manipulate decaying organic matter and transform it into living constructs that I can control. It has nothing to do with just intestines and snakes. 2. You don't just become a mutant, it's a gene you inherent. A likely recessive gene at that. So you can't get it like an infection or from a kiss. It's a part of you, inherited from your parents and there parents and so on and so forth. 3. Yeah, I just got out of the hospital. They didn't want to but the hospital wasn't secure and the cops didn't want to risk someone coming into my room looking to finish the job while I was vulnerable. So they gave me an assortment of pills to keep the pain and possible infection away. 4. No, I will not be marrying anybody. No thank you. 5. An x-men tattoo? I guess? I wouldn't really know. I guess it's a matter of opinion. I'm sure someone would appreciate the support. 6. I was in a desperate situation man. The guy in the vid had caught me sleeping on the bus and stabbed me before I could do anything. There were two other guys with him and they had me pinned. I was bleeding pretty badly, I could feel myself dying. At that point I didn't know if my stomach or any arteries or other organs had been punctured. There were three of them verses one of me when the bus driver kicked us off the bus. Nobody was going to get out of their cars to help. I had no material to work with and I warned them to stop several times. I even used my own blood to create some wasps to distract them. But it wasn't enough. He was on top of me, he was going to gut me like a fish, I just had to act first. It was seconds but the cops were going to arrive with one of us dead. On a side note, I actually did die for about 2 seconds by the time I arrived at the hospital. I hate that, that happened. To be honest I'm probably never going to be able to get sick feeling off of me. His face is probably going to haunt me for the rest of my life and this will make living normally even harder than before. Taking a life was the last thing that I wanted to happen.
He hit send and laid back with a sigh. "Ugh, that last one was hard. Now we wait for more replies." He scrubbed his face and yawned, "This ought to be fun."

He got on the bed next to Jiri and registered to the site, preferring the screen-name NotYourBoyfriend. As for the picture, he ended up looking like a cross between bewildered and amused. So this was it, photo proof that he was indeed the real deal and all registered to the site. All he needed to do was reply to this mess and perhaps untangle it a bit. But Jiri had a very good question. "What are you going to say to them?"
"I...have no idea. Where do I start? I guess I should introduce myself first." He began typing, hesitant at first but gaining confidence as he went. A quick introduction post to get the ball rolling should do it. Nothing negative or aggressive just keeping it simple for not.
[Photo] Hi, I'm Alex, the mutant in the video. My friend showed me this site after getting out of the hospital and apparently I have "fangirls" This is too weird, can I ask you guys why? Not to step on any toes or anything, but this isn't exactly the most flattering of videos. I honestly kind of wish nobody saw it, it's one of the most terrifying moments of my life.
He glanced at Jiri, mouse hovering over the create post button. "That's a good start right?" He waited for a bit of confirmation before pressing the button. Now to sit back and see what happens. These people supposedly love mutants, so it shouldn't be too bad, right?

"Did you know...that you have fan girls?"
He blinked at the ridiculous notion, the sadness slowly evaporating with confusion. He could feel his constructs perk up too. They were all very curious about this. He leaned forward to see Jiri's computer screen, unable to believe the length of the message board thread dedicated to him.
"GurlsJustWannaHaveMuties77 writes, and I quote: 'O-M-G, look @ that sweaty brow hair, does anyone have his number.' Of course, BikinisR4Skinnies retorts wittily: 'Nuuuuuuuuuuuuu i saw him 1st hends uff.' To which ArtemisSingle articulately replies: 'L-O-L, he can snake my intestines.' ...Please do not breed with any of these women, Darwin would cry. Oh, speaking of! DarwinsFavGirl writes..."
