The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Margo nodded as she chewed on the new information, satisfied, at least for the moment, with his answers. Her thoughts were strangely fuzzy, at least by her standards- perhaps it was all the laughing, or she was just tired. It was rather late, actually.
She smiled as she listened to his explanation, raising an eyebrow at his question. "And I wholeheartedly agree. Thanks." A moment passed. But with the way Richard had put it, how could she resist telling him? "I am a mutant, though, just FYI. Sorry if I was holding out on you."
"I couldn't ask for anything more in anybody," the girl replied, insides feeling like those of a fruit gusher for the hundredth time that night. "And this probably sounds really weird, but I feel like it's more than that, you know?" Because if she was honest with herself, he was all of the brother she'd never had.

She dived for it, and just in time too.
> "Urp. Horlberluuuuglerksjhdfgjhsdalwedklwae."
It was halfway between a disgusted sound and a groan that issued from Margo's lips as she untangled herself from Jude, who she'd somehow fallen partly on top of in their mad scramble out of the bunk. The snacks were strewn all over the floor, from where she'd scattered them with a hasty stroke of her arm, and there was no way the people in the next rooms hadn't heard her graceless collision with the carpet. Ow, her elbow. Oops, a gangly Frenchman who she'd awkwardly dived on.
Getting quickly to her feet, she surveyed the situation with a sigh. Glue was a slightly healthier shade of green. He needed the washroom, really badly. And Margo had no idea what they were going to do about the bunk.
The bright side? At least she hadn't fallen on top of Spike.

She listened curiously to Richard's explanation, wide eyed at the sheer wow-factor of the thing. You would think the girl would get used to these things after a while, but the truth was, they never ceased to intrigue her. "How useful." Awesome, but then she'd always been one to understate things. Usually. "So what's it like when you figure stuff out? Do you see it, feel it, or just know? Does it help if you have previous knowledge about whatever? Also, anyway, what does this apply to? You are talking about the mechanics of said devices versus the electronic circuiting and such, right?"
His answers only led to more questions. Literally, she wanted to know everything.
But the last part gave her pause. "Um, what?" Her superpowers? He couldn't possibly know. If not for Lucy, even Margo herself wouldn't have figured it out- and even then, she'd hardly dared to believe such a thing. Not that she would have minded if Richard found out, but she didn't think she'd been THAT obvious.
"Not everyone is as gifted as yourself," said Margo, laughing. It all came so easy tonight: the laughter, the tears, the embraces, this feeling of hysteric peace. But she wanted to see something before she spilled the beans, and this was her chance. "You don't think that because I think being a mutant is cool, I am one, right? One of you?"

As Nolan Bushnell once said, "All the best games are easy to learn and difficult to master." Texas Hold 'Em, as Margo soon discovered, was no exception.
She watched carefully and played boldly, guessing and second-guessing. It took the girl a few rounds to fully get the hang of the game, and she had the worst hands, like, ever... but she was learning, after all. Also, Jude was such a bully; he totally knew nobody could afford to match his bets.
She laughed with the rest of them at Glue's antics. "You know none of us wanted expired chocolates anyway." Kitten might be impatient, and Spike overly cautious when it came to betting; Glue, on the other hand, seemed more interested in gobbling up the foodstuff. Not that Margo was one to talk.
She tossed a peanut butter pretzel bite into her mouth and grinned at herself. This was fun.

A nod at his suggestion. "That's a good idea."
She frowned as she swept her gaze over the room again. Shelves and other furniture stalled dangerously in midair, among a virtual minefield of floating books, magazines, pencils, and paper. From where she clung to the railing, Margo spotted more students stranded in midair. These people had really picked the wrong time to visit the library, hadn't they? The opportunity of a lifetime. All fun and games until gravity returned and somebody got killed.
"While you do that, I might as well try and get some of those guys to a slightly safer place," said Margo with a sigh. "Okay? I'll be right back."
Not really waiting for a response, she pushed off.

"Correction, telepathic radio waves that are good for nothing." Jude didn't quite seem to believe her on the mind-reading part, and she couldn't blame him; nobody quite ever expected such a pathetic telepath as herself. Margo tapped a finger on the side of her head to illustrate the point, "Broadcast. One way channel."
A thought came to her, and she turned toward Jude again. Copy Cat, Carbon Copy. Not that she had any idea how that worked, but come to think of it, it was possible... "You can take it for a spin, if you'd like."
A Twizzler dangled from Cat-ears' mouth. He was practically begging for a recreation of that scene from the Lady and the Tramp, but however amusing Margo found that thought to be, she kept it to herself. After all, he'd been nice enough to explain the game for her. Texas Hold 'Em, thank goodness. She actually sort of understood this one. It was in just about every old movie she'd ever seen. She was so qualified to play. "Cool, cool. Thanks."
Crunch. Munch. The snack mix was actually pretty good, and the girl sorta found herself wishing that she'd thought to bring more stuff. That was just too bad.

Margo barely had time to register what was happening before being engulfed by a bear hug and rocked back and forth, as Richard let out a yip for joy. "Yay!" Her face pressed into his shoulder, she couldn't help but think it was the first time anyone had held her like that since she was a kid.
Then he seemed to remember himself (much to her relief and disappointment), apologizing sheepishly. She coughed and tried to maintain her dignity with a glare, but couldn't keep the ear-splitting grin off her face. Eventually the girl just gave up, and for several minutes they melted into a giant pile of hugs and laughter.
"Hey, I'd have said it sooner if I knew you cared so much," said Margo, finally managing to compose herself. A pause. Questions ran through her mind, but she had no idea where to begin. "So how'd you figure it out? What do you do? How does it work?"

Margo shook her head but smiled at his remark. At least it seemed Clyde liked her joke, which, to be honest, was pretty lame. "I... wouldn't know," she replied, and would have gone on to ask further about his family, except that they were nearing the alleged gravity girl. So she wisely shut her mouth and paused to take stock of the situation.
Pulling Clyde to the side, she spoke quietly in his ear. "Say she," with a nod toward the panicked girl, who didn't seem to have noticed them yet, "is the one canceling the gravity. I could try to calm her down. I probably could. But do we want to just yet? It doesn't exactly look like she has a lot of control over what she's doing." Margo just didn't want anyone to get hurt, was all.

And just like that, she was in.
Margo cast an eye over the contents of the curtained bunk, noting the cards and automatic shuffler buried halfway beneath the piles of candies and chips. Aha. So it was to be poker, then? Her own box of cherries and wad of ice cream coupons joined the lot. The note to Lizard Lips she handed to Spike for closer examination; he'd been asking for it, after all.
"Think of it as telepathic radio waves." The girl shrugged to Jude, as if to say she could care less what they called her. She didn't miss the way the boys stiffened up at the word. Cue eye-roll. "Relax. I don't cheat. Or read minds, for that matter."
Though it did make for a nice party trick, with the way they were all huddled together. A hint of eager anticipation lingered just long enough to be noticeable.
She knew how to play, right? "Vaguely," Margo frowned. Jude was a charming gentleman and all, and the others were putting up with her with varying levels of reluctance, but she doubted any of them would hesitate to take advantage of her ignorance, the cat-eared one in particular.
Well, it couldn't hurt to let them have their fun. She'd just have to learn.

Clyde paused in his efforts to scale the railing, hesitating a moment before launching into a joke. "So, a guy walks into a bah. I mean, a pirate guy. And he has a steering wheel in his pants. The bahtendah asks why and he says, 'It's driving my nuts.' Crap. I meant me nuts."
"Oh," said Margo with a laugh, a little puzzled as to why he had decided to tell this joke now. Maybe he thought it would make the situation less awkward, an icebreaker of sorts? Well, then, two could play at this game.
"So, a kid asks his dad 'How were people born?' The dad tells him that Adam and Eve had babies, who grew up and had babies of their own, and so on," she began, hesitating slightly. "But when the kid goes to ask his mom, she says people were monkeys that evolved to become like they are now. The kid accuses his dad of lying, so the dad says, 'No, your mom was talking about her side of the family.'"
In Margo's defense, it had been funnier inside her head.
Margo nodded to Jude, in answer to the self-elected spokesperson's question. "Yeah," she said, glancing over with a raised eyebrow towards the bunk. "For the record, guys, I didn't know this was an invite only event."
See, the problem wasn't that she didn't know what they were playing. Or even that Jude couldn't remember her name- not that she minded, because he was cute when he frowned like that, not that she was interested either. It was the fact that they were guys, and she...was a girl. Nobody seemed to know what to do with her.
It was so hard not to feel like she didn't belong. But she would- she did- belong. Despite whatever Jude and the rest of them thought; they'd see soon enough.
"So. You all have code names in here?" Her tone was curious as she addressed the boys, but she couldn't resist a little poke at Jude. Surveying first the young Frenchman who'd apparently expected someone else- well, fine, they all had, but him in particular- then the room, she took a stab. "CC stand for your cubic centimeter's worth of coordination? sounds about right."
"They call me Margo," she added, almost as an afterthought, with an apologetic smile in Jude's direction.

(OOC: Sorry for the short post)
Richard seemed to hesitate, struggling with his thoughts, before he spoke. "Margo... If one day I woke up and discovered that I was a mutant...And answer me honestly... would you treat me any different? How would you respond?"
"No. And I would totally think it was really cool," she replied with a smile, trying to make light of his question. But as he continued to stare out into the night, she realized maybe he took it more seriously than she had first thought. The girl scooted closer, this time choosing her words with more care. "Do you remember when we talked about this, well, sort of talked about this at our last meeting? I said X-genes don't make anyone any less human, people that treat them like crap are the real problem, and that's what I mean. And don't think I'm just saying it because I haven't had experience with this sort of thing."
She sighed. Might as well save him the trouble now. "Richard. I know you're a mutant, okay? It's not that big of a deal. I still like you, if that's what you're worried about."

It is a truth universally acknowledged among the teenage population, that the best fun can only be had after "lights out." That was how Margo knew that whatever the kids down the hall were doing, it was worth it.
The Mansion was silent as she made her way down the familiar hallway on bare feet, the purple and lime colored glow sticks circling her wrist the only illumination. It was all part of the fun, part of the excitement that came from breaking the rules.
The invitation was tucked in her back pocket- well, technically it wasn't her invitation, just a note addressed to "Lizard Lips" that she'd happened upon in the library, not that it mattered- along with a dozen ice cream coupons she'd been hoarding. Also a box of chocolate-covered cherries tucked under her arm, because while the note had specified to bring everything, she had figured if it was a get-together or something, she might as well just bring foodstuff.
She was nearing the end of the boys' wing now, where she'd seen a rather spiky young man headed earlier that evening, and the girl could definitely hear them. Quiet whispers. An occasional muffled burst of laughter. She raised her glow stick adorned arm and peered at the room numbers, a rather useless endeavor seeing as she had absolutely no idea which room belong to CC. Whoever he was.
She tried the door handles of the rooms closest to where the sound seemed to be coming from; locked, locked, unlocked. She went for the unlocked one, hesitating for the briefest of moments before pushing the door open.

Having escaped the disoriented Bloody Knife for the moment, Margo paused breathlessly to examine the situation. Hamburger Dude wobbled on top of his lamppost, offering up his help in the form of...marbles? Huh, she thought, as he launched the swirly, minuscule orbs in the thugs' direction to good effect- it looked as if Bloody's leg was broken. "Much appreciated" she called, winking down at the thug.
The lady, on the other hand, simply twirled her umbrella and sprayed Margo in the face with a fine mist of water. She blinked.
The dumpster lurched without warning again, this time too quickly. Margo jumped hastily out of the way, skidded backwards upon landing, and nearly fell on her butt. Well, at least she hadn't been flattened, which was more than you could say for the unfortunate thug. Still...
"That your life philosophy or something?"
In any case, the girl had learned her lesson. Giving the dumpster a wide berth, she hopped over the railing of the fire escape and started making her way up. "Don't get any ideas," she warned. "Please?"

From her vantage point behind a nearby dumpster, Margo watched the proceedings with an increasing sense of dread. The scruffy-looking guy, who she assumed was the intended victim, shared a few words with the lady; the leader of the gang spoke to his thugs. She couldn't hear the exact words, but none of it sounded too good. Then the actual fight broke out, and she pressed herself further back, out of sight. She should really just leave now, before any one got killed.
Too late.
Without any warning, the dumpster she had been hiding behind jerked forward, accompanied by a shriek of metal from the fire escape ladder above. Margo, skittering clear of both, was just in time to see the woman sidestep a knife thrust, which plunged instead into the gut of a nearby thug.
"Oh. No." The woman's voice cut through the air, mocking. "Help. Someone call the police."
There was blood everywhere.
What was worse, Bloody Knife turned. He saw her. He stepped forward, and Margo swore he grinned. She backed up, and he grinned some more. Easy meat, he must have thought.
He was close enough. Now! A tidal wave of fear literally flooded out from her, and she scrambled around him while he was distracted.
