The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The dragon would smile if he could, of course his home Japan was wondrous. The compound was funded by his various servants and underlings, and was a magnificent Japanese mansion, expanded and upgraded with the latest in modern comforts. "Perhaps someday you will, I intend to return in the future." The girl explained she had visiting Brazil, a large forested country in South America he believed. Ryoga didn't know much of South America, nor it's jungles, having spent his entire life concerned with Japan and recently North America.
Ryoga had never met another God either, his world always centered upon himself. He couldn't be the only God, but his status as a foreign God brought upon by a more recent event in history might be why. "I am the only one I know of, but I would be interested to meet another." Ryoga wondered what another God would be, what sort of magnificent form it would take, to be able to compare to his own. Perhaps all Gods were dragons, and he was simply the first of this modern era. That thought brought great joy to his inner thoughts as he conversed with the dead girl.
The girl seemed proud of her presence here in the park, explaining she came to hunt. Such a mundane activity, but hunting for your own food was an honorable action, and one he would not look down upon. "An honorable past time." He responded about hunting, before the girl went on about disliking the human form. Ryoga too disliked humans, such fragile creatures. No power and no grace in this modern era, concerned only with greed and wealth made of cloth. "You understand well, perhaps even more so than myself. I was never cursed with the human form and it's frailties. My home in Japan was filled with those who admired how mighty and powerful I was. You are lucky to be able to enjoy a form...so similar to a deity." His last words were strained, comparing Amber's form to his own was hard for him to do, his pride loathe to admit anyone might have similarity to himself.
Ryoga listened as the girl told him of a form as large and mighty as himself. He was certain she was exaggerating as nothing could stand equal to him, but the dinosaur of old were truly mighty beasts, perhaps not as majestic but just as fierce. However her offer to go hunting was mildly surprising, as suggesting things to a God was a bold statement. He took no offense though, and laughed a bit, before speaking. "I am certain that hunting with a dragon would bring you great joy, however I need not hunt. I do not eat like mortal creatures." He was proud of that fact, his lack of requiring physical nutrition was another sign of divinity. The wise men of old made due with mist and dew, and Ryoga, a modern deity could get by with just the strength of the morning Sun. "But perhaps one day you should visit a land with bigger game, I sense your enjoyment of the hunt can't be sated by this city of men."
The universe had an odd habit of throwing something amazing at you when you always least expected it. A humorous habit as well, considering the nomenclature of the restaurant and what the creature about to happen upon it was. The city lights and the hustle and bustle of it's inhabitants created a unique image outside the windows of the Dragon Inn, one that most everyone was so used to that they never really paid attention to it at length. But tonight was different, and the first sign was people outside suddenly getting excited and pointing to something in the distance. Cars stopped, and that was followed by the not so subtle sound of his roar, a booming sound you could feel in your bones. Tonight the Dragon Inn would come face to face with the creature it took it's name from, because following that roar came Orochi.
The creature stomped forward, slowly emerging into the city scape before the Dragon Inn, Ryoga stopping a moment to survey his surroundings. Needless to say, every one and thing parted before him, his majestic form and thousand pounds of weight both making sure he went where he wanted when he wanted. However he made no violent act, instead speaking with some of the people. "Konbanwa humans, I am Orochi!" He shouted with power, his voice powerful and ancient, a tone unlike any other. "I visit this city as a guest, and there is no need to fear me. I am a merciful and peaceful God." He declared, various people mumbling as the mythical creature before them spouted off about godhood.
Considering the vast number of mutants in the city, many could make the guess that Orochi was infact a mutant, not a true divine creature. But it was still hard to argue with a fifteen foot winged reptile that could speak. The Dragon turned his head and noticed the restaurant to his left, his eyes stared at the sign and decor above it's doors. The Dragon Inn? This must be quite the restaurant to use the name of the world's greatest creature and deity. He inched forward, peering inside the building. His eyesight was fine, he was sure of it. But it seemed as if a large cat was inside this building? Ryoga inched forward more, but his size and lack of hands made it hard to attempt opening the door, instead he spoke inside. "Proprietor of the Dragon Inn, be gracious for a true dragon has come to your fine business!" The dragon's voice was laced with pride, and his attitude clearly showed an ego, however he wasn't rude or overbearing in a negative way. "I ask that you come meet me, so I might inquire about this place." To be honest, Ryoga had little interest in the restaurant, he rarely if ever ate.
No, he was more interested in what he could swear looked like a big cat through the window. Especially since it was sitting on a chair like a person.
His mind clouded with anger, Ryoga could only vent his rage through unfocused violence. He was fighting two, but his mind only ever saw the target he had currently picked, which at the moment was the skeletal mockery wrestling with him on the street. His mind became more and more flooded with thoughts of destroying the Sanctuary and this woman who had dared to copy his form. This woman had no hope of defeating a God, so she donned a suit of armor to mimick his majesty? The audacity of it. This forms mashed against one another, claws scraping against flesh and bone, teeth looking for something to tear, but not being able to really win the brawl. His leathery hide held tough against the woman, but whatever her bones were made of was unnaturally durable.
If he wanted to end this, he'd need to not damage but break her. He needed to snap her bones, and crush them to dust so they couldn't recover. The only blood shed so far was that from his gums, poking them selves upon the girl's spines whenever he tried to bite through her armor. Finally a break in the fight as he managed grasp the mockery and force her back, giving him some breathing room to redefine the fight. At least that was the plan he'd thought up before he felt a heavy pressure on his tail. He roared in surprise more than pain as his head turned back to spy a damaged car dropped on his tail. The other mutant was still here, Ryoga howled. "Insolent ver!?" His words were cut short though as Kyle redoubled his efforts and popped off some energy bolts into his wings as Ryoga was attempting to turn and free himself.
The thing about leathery wings like Ryoga's is that they were designed to catch on the air and hold him up. However they also acted like a really easy target for something like Kyle's energy bolts, catching them and spreading the force about easily. The bolts caught in the membrane, they snagged and carried them downward, staggering the dragon and preventing him from flipping the car off his tail immediately. His momentum was constantly being halted by this man, and it was infuriating. "You little annoyance!" He barked at Kyle, unaware that just as before. The two mutants were working in tandem, and Kyle like the first punch grapped the attention and opened a vulnerability else where as Isabel crashed into Ryoga like a battering ram, her armor laden with spikes. And this time, there was that satisfying noise as flesh was pierced, bony spikes punched though various parts of Ryoga's body, actual first blood being drawn.
The dragon's eyes widened and he howled out in pain. Actual pain? They had dared to harm his body and spill his blood on this foreign land? That little voice in his head took the moment to spin that into a command so powerful Ryoga's mind nearly blanked. The insults, the constant secondary attacks, all of it was driving him insane. Ryoga tried to dig his claws into the asphault, every muscle in his body straining to regain his footing and fight back. "Obnoxious infuriating little vermin! Can you do nothing but mock me!?" Ryoga growled deep in his throat as his claws and jaws attempted to find holds on Isabel's dragon armor and battering ram. He was already in pain, already bleeding, he wasn't going to lose after that. He was going to lift this pathetic mockery of his form into the air and smash it back down into the Earth, and then he was going to find that little man and bite his head off!
"Not only do you need his help, but you dare use my form to stand against me? I will break you!" He roared thunderously, ignoring the bleeding, the spines digging into his muscles, the dull throb every time Kyle pelted him with an energy attack. All he could see was red, he was a rampaging animal and he needed to be stopped. But what would break first Ryoga's fury, Isabel's bones, or the city around them? Another factor that still went unnoticed was the dragon's lack of fatigue, his cells feeding upon a portion of each of Kyle's attack and fueling Orochi's power.
Amber's apology showed that Ryoga's ego was easy to work with once you saw his pattern, arrogant men, especially those with a god complex loved to be sated, and her immediately apology was just that. The dragon responded, his tone powerful but respectful. "I accept your apology. If we had met in my home in Japan you'd have seen my servants, I was never without them in my home." He explained, giving more information about where his inflated ego sprang from. Ryoga hadn't quite realized it, but his ability to interact with the world here in America would be vastly different, both because of the different culture and his lack of worshippers to do things for him.
The dragon chuckled a bit, a unique bellowed noise formed from the mixture of a human action and that of an ancient creature sharing an ancestry with Amber's own deinonychus form. Of course she accepted his compliment, who turned away the praise of a God? "Of course you do Amber, and a God never turns away praise." It seemed Amber had a good instinct for how to manipulate Ryoga's mood to her advantage in a conversation, something she herself was aware of and Ryoga was too arrogant to care about. A friendship between the dragon and anyone was a rarity, even back at his home in Japan. God's didn't make friends, they found servants and tools, but here in New York that might change, and an attitude like Amber's would be very helpful and turning Ryoga into an ally.
The dragon was curious though, so he knew more about the girl, and she was polite and humble enough to respect a God. But why was she here? The park was cold, and mostly empty, what would a woman want to do here? Though Amber was certainly different to the usual woman he'd interacted with. "I am curious Amber, what brings you out into the park, it's a chilly night and totally empty save for us? Do you come here to enjoy the solitude or something else?" Perhaps the girl needed to come here to enjoy her time in her saurian form.
People often spoke of the calm before the storm, that silent moment of peace before all hell broke loose. Perhaps people would look back at the moment as Isabel slapped Ryoga as this moment, her show of disrespect setting off every nerve in the creatures body, a cascading storm of retribution brewing in his soul as the fight began. However, as was the case with most situations in life, chaos reigned and rarely did plans go as conceived. Ryoga had intened to simply slap the woman and be done with it, unaware and unconcerned with what armor her skeleton might be, he'd swung with enough force to obliterate a normal person's body, their skeleton shattered by his anger. But Isabel seemed to not be alone in this brawl, even if she wanted to be.
Kyle had jumped in at just the right time, with a rather clever plan. Ryoga was a ton of draconic fury, clad beneath flesh like an elephant and scale armor atop that. You'd need an elephant rifle, or maybe a bazooka to truly threaten him, but Kyle had gone for the eyes, every beast's weakness. Ryoga had binocular vision just like most predator's, so he only saw the oncoming attack when it was far too late to dodge it, his body reacting as his eyes slammed shut, and his head turned to the left, trying to avoid the blast. Two bolts of energy, like bullets peppered Ryoga's head but the force only served to throw Ryoga off balance, the creature's body turning and causing him to miss Isabel and instead simply tear her clothing. Ryoga howled in rage, shouting an insult at Kyle.
"Insolent dog!" He growled, but all of this only served to let Isabel brainstorm and strike it rich with her imagination.
As Ryoga turned his head back to the right, instead of going all the way to target Kyle, he stopped and caught Isabel's transformation. The angry voice in his head, the fury in his heart, and the rage pumping through his veins could do little to stop Ryoga from staring at her. Her pitiful human form cast in a mockery of Ryoga himself. The girl had donned a suit of armor with the strict purpose of insulting a God, the audacity was beyond all comprehension. Ryoga attempted to spout more words at her as well, but struggled to get through his own growl of hatred and Isabel's sudden attack on him.
"You dare!?" Was all he managed as the skeletal mockery and he tumbled backwards, locked in a grapple.
A writhing mass of interlocked claws and two fang filled maws snapping at one another, luckily a few parked cars had dodged Ryoga's earlier rampage and were here now to break their tumble, the combined weight and activity of the brawl reducing them to rubble as Ryoga attempted get ahold of the woman with his jaws and claws to throw her off. She matched him in size and weaponry now, but she lacked his power and experience with this form, an equal match at the moment. Ryoga needed time overwhelm her, and smash her bones to dust. He needed the space to charge her, to be the aggresser, and beat her down with power. For the moment neither of them had any damage, Isabel's bones were like steel, and Ryoga's flesh was like kevlar, her claws unable to draw any blood yet.
But there was still the unknown factor, the energy slinging third wheel. What would Kyle do? Compared to these two titans he had no hope of physically intervening, but his ranged abilities might be the defining factor in this fight. Distract, redirect, wear down, he might be able to accomplish any of these things if he came to understand Ryoga's unique hidden ability, his hunger for radiant energy.
It was still slightly odd to see a human, or at least human shaped woman not care about her modesty. Women in general seemed to be very concerned with who observed their naked body. Ryoga cared not though, the female form of most humans mattered littel to him as his interest was so far above the usual human drivel. Amber went on to explain she could only assume the form of dinosaurs, ancient extinct reptiles from Earth's prehistory. The girl used the term dinosaurs as well, meaning she could shift into multiple creatures, how intringuing.
The last string of words from her mouth though, sounded slightly insulting to the dragon with delusions of godhood. Could he use a computer, or read a book? Of course he could, such things were beneath his greatness. A growl rumbled in the depths of his throat as he glared at her, his eyes pressuring her. "Careful what you say Amber, the presumption anything is beyond a God comes off as insulting." An emphasis was on that last word, showing how serious the dragon took anything he might consider offensive to his honor. "I need not operate these things like a mortal does, I have servants and worshipers for that."
She continued on to explain that she could indeed assume many shapes, confirming his earlier thought. Some might be surprised to hear Amber's claim to the form of an extinct predator being her "true" form, but Orochi understood. Humans were weak, frail, stupid beings. Their lives ruled by their weak emotions and fears, but a creature such as that dinosaur? The power, the ferocity? Ryoga could respect that, just as he enjoyed his own form, wrought with primal vigor and deific power. "Then a God shall compliment your true form. Though I dislike the smell of death, it was certainly beautiful."
Luckily Amber kept her thoughts to herself, perhaps in part to learning how easily Ryoga could be offended, and how easily he rose to anger when offended. Though if she had spoke of being stuck in one form, Ryoga would not have understood the thought. There was nothing one could hope to strive for more than Godhood, and he was born with it.
The girl seemed confused by Ryoga's actions, meaning she cared not for her own modesty and he need not care either. She assumed he was offended or embarassed by her nudity, which made the dragon laugh. A heavy laugh that only faded as he began to speak in response. "You are mistaken woman, modesty is something humans have. I mistakenly assumed you would be bothered for me to see you unclothed." The dragon took a moment to reign in his wings again, the majestic limbs folding up entirely and once more assuming the appearance of legs as he let his weight fall forward onto them. "I was born this majestic, not once have I dared to hide my form beneath the clothing of a man. But even a God has manners." He explained.
Even for a monstrous mutant dragon weighing in over a thousand pounds, the Japanese sense of manners and modesty affected his mannerisms. "Furthermore I find the human form unimpressive, the flesh you wore before would do more to stir me than what you are now." The dragon finished, his words basically saying Amber's human form was entirely dull to be seen, even the nude. "So you are able to assume the form of deceased life?" He asked, curious about her previous form. He could see the girl's body was withered and frail looking, but to be both dead and alive was not as interesting as being able to shape shift into a creature long since gone from this world.
This mutant Amber was almost like the child of a God, Ryoga remembered various legends about people touched by deities of power and death. The scent of it following them in their daily lives. But this girl was a mutant, a mortal creature born with special abilities. Somewhat disappointing that her true form was that of this frail little creature and not that of the beast he met only minutes ago. "How fascinating that your form, looking so frail and weak to me now, can claim to be stronger than a normal person's to the elements. With snow on the ground, and chill in the breath you don't even shiver. Impressive indeed little woman, you are perhaps the most interesting mutant I've met so far." The dragon complimented, though somehow his voice still sounded as if he was looking down on her, especially compared to his tone when she was still a deinonychus.
Though she could not speak, Amber's show of respect kept Orochi friendly and interested, signs of respect feeding the dragon like bread fed mankind. The night went from interesting to very interesting though, as the creautre before him began to mutate and change, her body crunching into itself like a collapsing star as the girl morphed from reptile to human form. Ryoga's eyes widened, captivated as Amber shifted. However as she became an oddly withered and corpse like woman, Orochi made a move of his own. Though Ryoga was a creature of arrogance and self importance he was also Japanese. And the Japanese did happen to take manners and modesty fairly seriously.
The Dragon rose to stand on his feet, his weight shifted as his wings extended outward, closing around Amber and creating a screen to hide her from the chilled world outside the shadows he cast. The girl, now in the form of a mortal took a moment to bow again, her eyes meeting Orochi's. The dragon did not avert his gaze, but it would be plain to see that he was attempting to avoid looking at her body beneath the neck. Amber introduced herself, with speech this time, and went on to state a title as nearly impressive as Ryoga's own, maybe even more impressive in some circles.
The dragon snorted and spoke, pointing out Amber's lack of clothing. "You are aware you are nude by human standards, yes?" He asked, curious if the girl perhaps had clothes somewhere else, or didn't realize they were gone when she shifted. Ryoga was nude himself as well, he was not a man though, but a God, and clothing himself was well beneath his concern. This girl Amber though, still had the form of a human so his upbringing caused him to expect embarassment from her. Either way, more interesting than her naked form was the statement that she was Death. Death was a serious title to lay claim too, and Ryoga wondered what made her believe so. "I did smell death upon you little woman, but that is an impressive title to claim as a name." What power did this woman possess that would let her believe in such a claim?
The little dinosaur continued to stay in Ryoga's presence, and responded intelligently, perhaps it was just a clever animal, but Ryoga was quite certain the creature before him was more than a beast. After all, some might see his form and assume he was an animal, but his intelligence and personality were that of a creature above man on the totem pole of existance. The final confirmation that Amber was more than a big lizard came as she began to write out a message to Ryoga.
She used her unique foot to write a message into the snow, Orochi tilted his head low, letting his eyes read Amber's words. English, a language he could read. First was the term mutant, which Ryoga had guessed could be an explanation. So this creature was a mutant, a human who had become an animal. Interesting, he wondered if she was born this way. If she was born as a creature, perhaps she was not actually a mutant but had been told as much. Her second word was a name, a woman's name. So that was this creature...girl's name. He spoke the girl's name, letting the word roll from deep in his throat. "Amber...so you are a woman. Konbanwa, I am Orochi." The dragon returned his name in exchange of hers.
Looking up from the snow, his eyes refocused on the girl's saurian body. "So you can still understand speech but are unable to do so. You are the second mute I've met during my time in America." Was being mute a common disability caused by mutation? It would make sense, the word mutant was generally a negative term in science, so it was likley most mutants suffered some disability in return for their powers and differences. Ryoga bellowed, a powerful primal version of what others might call a purr, or Amber's own chirping sound when excited. So he was even more perfect than a mutant who was similar to himself, how interesting these mutants were. "You mutants are very intriguing creatures." He spoke, showing with his speech that he didn't consider the term applied to himself.
It seemed that Forte's arrival did little to jar either Orochi or Isabel from their stare down, a clash of monsters about to boil over. The man who'd just showed up spoke, trying to interject himself into the moment. He claimed this place was home to some, and that he should leave, and then had the gall to threaten Ryoga? How laughable, and insulting. Orochi would have to punish the man as well, as soon as this little woman before him learned her place and ran off to whatever hovel she was from. The woman took her turn to insult Ryoga as well, were all humans this foolish? Insulting a God might as well be a request for punishment, staining your own honor just as much as Ryoga's.
However his anger was stunted for a moment as the woman began to change, the legs of a spider erupting from her back. Ryoga's fiery eyes opened up for just a bit, as he observed Isabel's mutation take over. She certainly looked better this way than as another four limbed peasent like all the other humans. However he was unimpressed, because in the end that just meant this woman was a mutant, the arrogant creature he'd come to subjugate. She would bow to him, just like everyone else. That nagging little voice in his head told him so, this woman was the guard dog of Sanctuary, the place that refused to accept his Godly status. When she fell to her knees, this burning rage would subsist, yes, this would show them all just how glorious he truly was.
Though he could not smile like a man, Ryoga's maw pulled back around his massive fangs, his body preparing to destroy all that stood up against him. However the following evens he would have never expected, a situation that even through him for a loop with the burning rage digging into the base of his skull thanks to the little parasite riding his crown. The woman, now able to stand off the Earth and stare him in the eyes stepped forward, and brought her puny little limb across his face.
She had slapped a God.
Though her flesh was now covered with armor, and equipped with weapons, more than anything the girl bring her hand across his flesh was what froze time around them. Though his head was too large to react at all to the girl's strength, it was the audacity of the act that hurt the most. A woman, of all creatures, had brought her hand against divinity. To slap a god, such a low brow way of contempt, was more infuriating than even the little worm nestled into his brain and filling his head with lies. Ryoga felt a furious growl building in his throat, rumbling from between his teeth so hot that you'd imagine steam would pour off his body.
"I will end you woman, and all that you hold dear."
As the dragon finished speaking his venomous speech he made his own move. Though they were wings, his arms still had claws, a fist, and could be folded up to be used as arms, and in a return favor his right wing rose up to back hand the woman and remove her form his sight. Ryoga weighed more than a ton, and had all the subtley of a rampaging elephant when he was angered, and that anger was now aimed at Isabel. A normal human would never hold up to a God, their mind and body would crumble from one blow, time to see how long this skeletal spider woman would last.
Ryoga felt some primal sense of satisfaction in this situation, the larger predator reigning over the smaller, though he had no interest in trying to eat or even attack this creature. He didn't need to eat, and rarely did even for the enjoyment of flavor, and this lizard smelled of rot, he doubted it possessed any taste he wanted to know. The smaller creature, clearly some sort of dinosaur showed off her own teeth, and fluffed her mockery of feathers. If Ryoga could smile he would have, as his eyes watched Amber's attempt to respond to him.
His head lowered, closer to the ground and the height of Amber's own form, his voice rumbling deep in his throat. "How intriguing, if I did not know better I'd think you some kind of little American dragon. But that is not the case, you're some type of living relic." The dragon sniffed, his nostrils filling with the foul smell of death. What was this little dinosaur? Some type of mad science project? Another mutant? This land was certainly proving more out of the ordinary than his everyday life at the compound. "So little dinosaur, the question remains, why are you here." The dragon began to move, his large form circling around Amber, his heavy steps breaking the silence as he stopped speaking.
Ryoga would have been more surprised had he seen such a creature in the city, at least here in the park there was some semblance of nature. In fact this park was sort of like an island in an ocean of cityscape, so maybe this was the only ground such a creature could survive? Though such a creature couldn't live here without being quite famous could it? Or maybe Ryoga, being a God was the only one lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it, such a thing would be fitting for him alone to enjoy. The animal was clearly incapable of speech like Ryoga who was a God, not a beast, but she was at least more appeasing to look at than all the humans in this city. "Well no matter, I have no reason to interfere with you little dinosaur. Do as you like little lizard, and be thankful you got to witness an Earthbound God." Ryoga said with oppressive pride.
Masque claimed to make do with what he had, a human statement if there ever was one. Ryoga was no defeatist, he didn't make do, he thrived and if that wasn't enough he'd take until he was satisified, which was well within his right. However Masque was polite and respectful, so he did indeed make do well enough. The dragon however still didn't appreciate being confused for some other individual, his burning stare drawing James' attention to him.
Ah, Smaug, Ryoga knew this character. A red dragon from the work of Tolkien, a famous fantasy author. Ryoga remembered those works from some time ago at the compound. Smaug was a petty creature, paranoid and self obsessed, though this was the idea of a dragon crafted by a human, easy to see how he'd cast a majestic creature as the villain for his diminuative furry heroes. The dragon remained silent for a moment, his facial expression difficult to read for lack of human features as he stared at James. Masque seemed to want to help James, writing a message to help appease Orochi for his fellow mutant. Masque's proper respect for a God again impressed the dragon considering it was from a non Japanese.
"Smaug was a red dragon, a glorious creature who claimed an entire kingdom for a throne. I remember this character indeed." The dragon's voice was loud and oppressive, as if when he spoke the world around him went quiet to listen. "I enjoyed the works of Tolkien, save for his portrayal of Smaug. The audacity to have a mere man fell a God." Ryoga snorted, as he remembered how easily the dragon Smaug was felled, a thought that both irked, and sort of intimidated him. But that feeling was miniscule and locked away.
Ryoga flapped his wings gently, stretching his muscles and getting the blood flowing. "So tell me little mutants, what is life like here. I was born of Japan, but I am curious how you live here, at this Mansion and in America." The dragon asked, his mood improved and returned to a state of friendly but abraisive curiosity.
The grounds of the Mansion had proved to be quite beautiful and enjoyable as Orochi's life in America began, but a God never settled for just one indulgence. He had seen pictures of New York's various parks in some of the literature he'd read, and decided to enjoy the taste of the sun admist the famous greenery he'd seen. Calling in a favor to be driven to the park on a truck, Orochi had spent hours sitting still, his wings outstretched to act as solar panels as his cells fed upon the light. The grass, the bushes and trees, all of it created an enjoyable ambiance, a comforting scent for his nose as opposed to the stink of the city full of it's humans.
As the Sun set, Orochi's eyes opened, his body beginning to stir once more. He had no intention of returning to the Mansion just yet, instead opting to enjoy some time in the chilled park as the light began to dim. Curling up behind some bushes and a tree, Orochi found sleep overtaking him as his cells focused on metabolizing the radiation he'd soaked in. Time passed once more as the dragon rested, before an odd scent and the chill of the sun vanishing behind the horizon woke him. His dark form rose up, his size impressive and majestic as he poked from his little nap spot. Emerging from the brush to step into the open could only be described as a scene of something that could have happened millennia ago when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, massive predators dominating the world in a struggle of predator vs predator.
No predator from this modern world could compare with Ryoga, for he was not just a beast or a dragon, but a God. However, what Ryoga found himself standing above was not of this time but another. The slender creature before him shared some similarities in form, almost enough that perhaps the two creatures were related in some distance sense, but he felt no companionship with the dinosaur. Though it reminded him of a dragon, the scent around it did now. The dragon's throat rumbled and his voice broke the silence of his emergence. "What are you little lizard, and why do you smell of death." The dragon questioned, not caring if he received an answer or not, his curiosity peaked by the dinosaur before him. Unaware that this creature was in fact a mutant, Ryoga presented himself as a larger beast, his jaws pulled back to reveal the wicked fangs he sported as he observed the deinonychus before him in the coming night.
Though Orochi had planned for his stroll to be peaceful, it seems his Father's predicted destiny of destruction would follow him still. Unaware of the plot to use him, an action that would enrage the dragon like no other, Ryoga found himself taken advantage of unknowingly as the parasitic power took hold of his head, digging it's hate into his skull. Ryoga stopped for a moment, his mind stopped as foreign thoughts invaded and began to take reign of his conciousness. He was a God, everyone should bow to him, worship the ground he walked upon, fear his might. This much was obvious, but this was different, his ego, his arrogance suddenly began to burn, like venom escaping from his heart to permeate his being. He'd been friendly with the mutants so far, those who shared his home knew to respect him, but this Sanctuary...What was Sanctuary? He'd never been to such a place...No! This Sanctuary was an affront to him, they refused to bow to a God? Such foolish arrogance!
The dragon's blood began to boil, it was time to cowl this Sanctuary and show them the wrath of an angry God. His blood so hot steam probably should have escaped his flesh, Orochi rose his head to the sky and roared, somehow knowing where he needed to be, knowing what he had to destroy, what he had to subjugate. This Sanctuary would curse the day they disrespected the Japanese God of Destruction.
Orochi began to pick up speed, his wings and legs matching a rhythm as the dragon began to run. His weight stomped into the ground, sending a shuddering vibration to those around him, and where before he avoided them, now the dragon began to barrel right through the people and traffic before him. The humans scattered, terrified of the beast before them, as Orochi stormed forward his path was blocked by a car, whose drive had freaked out and abandoned as he neared. His right wing came forward, it's claw gripping the car enough to fling the vehicle out of his way like it was branch before a bear. The car flipped into the air and smashed into another vehicle, the panicked voices of people filling the air.
Unaware of another mutant in pursuit of him, Orochi's eyes only saw one thing, the Sanctuary. As he closed in, he could see a woman standing outside it's front doors, his eyes narrowed and the anger suddenly found a new target. This woman, somewhat taller than average but no less flimsy and frail as all of mankind dared to stand before Orochi? She dared to interrupt his desire to demolish the Sanctuary into it's barest parts? What nauseating hubris she must have. Orochi's wings extended outward, and the dragon began to soar. His running leap gave the illusion of flight as the dragon blotted out the sun, casting his sovereign shadow over Isabel and the castle she defended. Orochi landed before the golden gates of Sanctuary with a ground shuddering thud.
The serpentine neck craned upward, staring down at Isabel with contempt and pride. A rumbling bellow escaped the dragon's throat as he spoke to Isabel. "I have come to claim my throne little human. The Sanctuary will fall till naught but ashes remain. Now flee and pray for mercy." The dragon finished, his intention to wreck the Sanctuary and show the world his dominance, his divinity. Why did this Sanctuary matter though? What made him hate this place? Reasons didn't matter, only wrath. But even with the parasite pulling the strings of his heart, Ryoga's own pride recognized a certain look in Isabel's eyes, two iron wills were about to clash. There was a brief moment, where Ryoga silently stared at Isabel before speaking once more.
"Or if you think yourself a dragon slayer, Come here and die woman." Though he no longer had the lips to smile with, anyone who saw could swear that Ryoga was sporting a devilish grin fueled by his delusion of Godhood.
Ryoga had only been in New York for a short amount of time, staying entirely within the Mansion's grounds, meeting it's mutants and waiting for his personal room to be built. Though it was somewhat dull to remain there, it's large natural garden was enjoyable. But now was the time to show this city it's new God, so the dragon decided to head into the city and show off his majesty. Heading through the Mansion's gates, and despite some trying to convince him this would cause undo trouble, Ryoga would do as he pleased.
Waltzing through the streets in front of the Mansion, Ryoga was already drawing tons of attention, all of it feeding his reptilian ego. He'd grin if he still could, as the large creature scaled a near by building, his claws digging easily into the brick and letting him gain some height so he could truly show himself off. Holding onto the roof and side of the building, he turned his head to stare at the people below, their breath about to be stolen from their very lungs as he ascended to the skies.
The apartment complex was large, easily tall enough to allow him to soar some distance. With a mighty push of his legs, the dragon extended his wings and did his best effort to fly. His wings, underdeveloped and encumbered by his weight couldn't lift Ryoga very much, but he was able to cover a good distance directly towards down town. His shadow and form easily blotting out the ground beneath him, dozens possibly hundreds of human and mutants alike looked on in awe, their lives suddenly halted by the presence of a legend above them. Ryoga flapped his wings, holding onto the sky for as long as he could, the wind he created blasting the ground beneath him and furthering his image as a god.
Finally his glide could no longer hold out, and the dragon was forced to land, choosing to drop himself directly into an intersection some distance from the Mansion. His weight dropped with a thud, halting what little traffic would have tried to happen as a dragon suddenly invaded the driver's world. "Behold American's, behold a divine beast, a God a midst your normal lives!" Ryoga said with power and presence, his voice booming above the world and shattering the silence his descent had made. And plenty of people took in the moment, their gasps audible and their words jumbled with various statements about him. However a good chunk of the people in their cars also took a moment to shout some rather obscene words at him and demanding he remove himself from the streets.
Ryoga snarled a bit but realized he was in fact stopping traffic, and though it was well within his right to stop their minuscule lives as he pleased, the police of this state probably wouldn't enjoy him disrupting the traffic. Ryoga began to move, his claws and wings carrying him to the sidewalk, which his mass barely fit upon and dominated. He strolled further through New York, his pride and visage scattering people before him, while drawing tons of admiration and curiosity as well. As the dragon made his way deeper into the city, he enjoyed every bit of attention he was drawing, the intimidation and admiration feeding his delusions of grandeur. "Fear not little humans, though I am a fearsome God, I come to embrace and enjoy your city, not destroy it." He bellowed with arrogant but polite tone.
However, with his mind preoccupied with the attention of the humdrum humans and mutants around him, he was unaware that more dangerous, scheming eyes might be falling upon him.
