The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The thought of someone knowing they needed to use the restroom, or of calling them out on the need to was rather embarrassing for the more old fashioned of the Japanese people, but Ryoga was more than just old fashioned, his sense of dignity and pride was borderline insane, and he hadn't really gone to the bathroom since he'd been but a boy, his mutation having created a body that didn't follow the usual rules of life. His metabolism functioned in a way that nitrogen removal wasn't a necessity, and thus the need to urinate was quite foreign to him, especially in a woman's flesh.
He'd run from that ignorant thief in his panic, but the whole process of having to go to the restroom in her body was quite infuriating and left the god steaming at the ears. After that, the urge to rest had came, leaving him to wander till he fell onto a couch and slept, his fury having exhausted Tses's body. Waking the next day he realized have to find a way to control or contain his body till he could find the cause of the switch, and force them to undo their grievous mistake. However as the dragon stood up in Tses's form, another realization struck him. A skirt...was quite unbecoming of him. He didn't like this feeling of clothing to begin with, his body had always been to oddly shaped or large to wear anything, so nudity was sort of the norm for the Japanese mutant, but this...bagginess of her clothing felt even worse. He'd rather be snug in something than wearing something that was so open.
The dragon pilfered some new clothes from the mansion, not comfortable with the idea of taking but luckily he had an excuse. And so as the deity left the building once more to search for that irate creature with his face, he was much more comfortable in a plain t-shirt and a pair of jeans, losing Tses's rebellious and baggy look for a much plainer outfit, nearly mannish even. He didn't care about the appearance of a woman, only that the baggy feeling of female clothing was gone for something more...masculine.
His mind cleared, the dragon walked towards his shrine to search for her once more. What was her name even? Bah, he didn't care, her name was a worthless to him as any other moniker she might prefer. She was a thief and that was all his mind cared about. "Thieving woman!" He yelled as he approached the bed of the dragon. "I have come once more to demand we find a way to return my form to me. And I demand to know who helped you steal it." The little body of Tses's stared upwards at Orochi's original form with enough self confidence to match his original size, perhaps he was in a position of danger so long as she held his power, but if he could keep up with her original powers, he could at least stay alive long enough to locate an answer or some help.
Her appearance was lowborn, but the girls ability to explode things or walk through walls was certainly...interesting. Especially since Ryoga somehow was able to intuitively act on her ability, as if it was somehow vaguely similar to his original power. The fact that her powers were moon based and his sun based escaped him, but the connection was enough to make him think.
Obsession? Ryoga was obsessed with nothing, save perhaps the severe lack of respect this country lacked. The way this man acted towards a customer, even when that person knew their mutant status was mildly infuritating to the God in a girl's body. His lip quivered a bit before pulling back into a sneer. "What's your name servant?" The emphasis on that word oozed venom and disdain as the dragon questioned Yun. He wanted this man's name, to remember and savor it for the day when he returned to his own body. He'd return here, and then the servant would know his place. Right beneath a dragon's heel.
A woman's appearance was of no concern to Ryoga, especially not this girl and her...risque nature. "The girl's appearance is lacking in refinement yes. But when next we meet, and I promise you that we will meet again, you'll see just how misjudging your eyes have been mortal." The emphasis on the word mortal cemented that this girl was possibly crazy, or the dragon currently piloted her body just happened to have a god complex. Ryoga ignored the change provided to him, Tses's money might as well been valueless to the dragon.
He sipped from his tea once more and then bowed just barely to Yun before stepping away from the counter. "We'll see just how belligerent you can be when the dragon returns." He whispered to himself with Tses's voice as he searched for a chair fitting of his borrowed posterior.
Ryoga commanded Tses' face to sneer at Yun, he had originally hoped to find someone with a sense of manners or at least respect like himself, but alas this server was a foreign mutt, meaning any cultural heritage was all but forgotten. "If not for a recent event, my very presence would have made you bow in awe. Rather I find your Japanese looks wasted upon someone so uncouth." Ryoga had lost his interest in this man, no games to play while he waited for information to surface, he'd rather just enjoy his tea and leave this worthless establishment.
Ryoga merely made a hmpf noise in response to an insult to his appearance. This girls body was the most foreign of soils for Ryoga, he had no intention of learning female fashion or maintenance, especially since he had no interest in further exploring this form. Going to the bathroom was enough of a nightmare, and pushed his sense of shame to a limit he never expected to encounter. "I've no interest in learning how to properly prepare a woman's appearance!"
The way Ryoga spoke clearly felt as if he didn't see himself as a girl, and obviously he wouldn't if Yun had any idea who he really was, but that twinge of confusion and embarrassment that came with the attention paid to his current gender would certainly feel confusing for an empath. "So long as I'm this, I'll just have to settle for a delinquent's appearance." Ryoga's patience had run out finally, and he snatched his drink up and pulled a five dollar bill from Tses's pocket, generally Ryoga had no use for currency, but while he was stuck in her flesh, he'd have to make do with what she had.
Japanese people were often assumed to be weak willed, or timid because of their inability to domineer a conversation. But that wasn't the case, the Japanese were merely respectful of others, and foreign cultures tended to lack that aspect, creating a disparity in the conversation as they rudely trampled over the other. Ryoga did not suffer from such timidity or culture shock, he was a God and that meant he was always in control, whether others liked it or not. The way Yun snapped back after he spoke about the color change took him a little by surprise, Ryoga expecting to find a caged rat rather than a man willing to play along.
Either way it was still interesting enough to take up his attention for the moment. Were Yun to make this comment about Ryoga in his true form, the dragon might have cared, but in Tses's body he had little concern for how others saw her, after all, she was merely a thief in over her head currently. Yun could play the game with Ryoga, but the God was already assured he was going to win in the end.
"Do not presume to know me, mutant. There is much more to me than...this girl." Ryoga couldn't explain that he'd been body-jacked by some other mutant or some random nonsense, but he wouldn't let anyone look down on him either. Ryoga was still a God, even while wearing Tses's flesh. "I have no need to watch myself, but perhaps you do." The way Ryoga spoke felt like he could easily destroy this place, or Yun, or both, or at least Ryoga was himself entirely convinced of it.
Were he in his own body, he was certain he'd get his message across more correctly, trying to act like himself whilst a woman was exceptionally frustrating. Just the way Tses had laughed at him with his own form still reeled in the back of his mind, the one feeling Ryoga hating more than anything was when people weren't looking up to him, physically or mentally.
Ryoga waited, crossing Tses's arms over her chest briefly before he dropped them again quickly after realizing where they'd sit. This female form was becoming most frustrating, the various stimuli that came with the body plust he new found needs of taste and sleep were nearly too much for the dragon to bother with. That brief period of embarassment might come off as odd, but Ryoga couldn't quite figure out how to hide his emotions with Tses's face yet, it'd only been a day after all.
Waiting for his tea, Ryoga's eyes had been glued to Yun, judging the man while he worked, and that meant he saw that change when it happened. Like magic, the man's eyes seemed to darken into a deep brown before flushing back into the earlier blue. Changing eye color was certainly worth the thought, the dragon's feelings quickly shifting from mild annoyance to curiousity. People often work contact lens to alter their eyes, but that quick change probably meant this mortal was a little something else.
Ryoga's face became stiff for a moment as he continued to watch, paying attention as Yun tried to further the conversation while not mentioning or motioning at all that there had been anything unusual. He briefly thought of the word mutt when Yun chattered off various asian heritages, the racial tension in Ryoga everybit as strong as your average Japanese brat.
He avoided being offensive though, while many Japanese disdained the other asian cultures, Ryoga was cultured enough to know it wasn't socially acceptable outside of certain circles, especially while outside of Japan. Plus he was more interested in this mortals possible status as a mutant. Any mutant he met might have a power worthy of notice, especially considering his current situation. Ryoga finally smiled again once he'd been handed his tea, but this smile was not a friendly one.
No it was more the smile of someone who was winning at a game and enjoying it because of the mere fact that their opponent was the one losing. The man was trying to shuffle Ryoga away by pointing out a table by a window, far away from the counter. While he might not go into a cafe ever, Ryoga knew some basic aspects of how to manipulate or control others, he was a God after all.
"A view of the city sounds rather uninteresting, especially when I'd rather see that little trick of yours again. The one where you change your eye color." The smile turned into a wicked grin, the dragon enjoying the rare use of lips for once. "Tell me waiter, can you do it on command?" This grin suited Tses's body, the girls aggressive look suited to Ryoga's sense of control. He lifted the glass with the proper grip after he finished speaking and took a drink, not top quality, but not bad either, at least the girl's tastebuds weren't useless.
"Omoshiroi." He whispered under his breath as he pondered on what move to make next.
Ryoga spent most of his time being pampered and waited upon in Japan, so the process of ordering something himself was rather novel and unknown, though his love of manners made him quite excellent at asking for something if he could stop being so smug for a few moments. The smile returned to his face when Yun told him they had tea, though the term American added after the fact made it diminish ever so slightly. However the staunch wave of disappointment he gave off might be more noticable to the empath he was speaking with.
"A pity, but I can't expect too much while I am away from home. One cup of green tea, please."
It was odd how anyone could speak so politely and yet sound somehow...condescending all at the same time, even in Tses's body, Ryoga sense of self-worth oozed into her words.
While he waited on his order, Ryoga began to mull over the person before him. His apperance was plesant enough, Ryoga preferred other Japanese to all the Americans he'd been around the past year or so, however it didn't see he was speaking with a native of Japan. There were no physical actions common for a Japanese person, and those blue eyes the man had were definately not Japanese.
"Perhaps I was mistaken, you are not entirely Japanese I"m guessing?" Ryoga's stare was almost invasive, as if he truly believed he had every right to see everyone else as a mere piece of meat or an object, possibly worthy of his attention but little of his respect. The feeling Ryoga gave off from Tses's body wasn't one of hate or disgust, just a nearly smothering sense of self-superiority, increased when he began to judge Yun as not being truly Japanese.
Most people who knew Tses didn't like her, or at least Ryoga assumed as much, and the way the girl dressed was odd to him, the sort of fashion only a girl or young man chasing girls would find interested. Why would anyone where netting on their skin to begin with? That was the first thing to go once Ryoga had sat down long enough to realize he had to deal with this form for more than a day even a few. With no clothes of his own and no idea where this girl actually lived, he'd been forced to make do with what she'd had on and some "donations" from the Mansion. The girl who was a God was fairly catching still with large combat boots, but the dragon absolutely refused to wear a skirt, and so Tses's body was now clad in some simple jeans and a tighter shirt than the girl would have worn if she'd still been here.
Ryoga was not a fan of clothing in general, but the bagginess of her previous attire made him feel uncomfortable, so he'd taken some liberties in dressing her. He also removed the little ties from her hair, letting it fall free, what an odd habit girls had, mussing with their hair so much. He preferred to just let it fall, like his own mane when he was in his actual body. Ignoring all this, and the terrible time he was having trying to communicate with this girl who'd taken his body, the foreign God had decided to take advantage of the one benefit of this creature's body. He could now enter buildings, and explore the world of man that he had to watch from afar for so long.
Strolling through downtown he noticed a sign for a Cafe and bookstore, how lovely to put both things together. Reading was something the dragon enjoyed immensely, and a cafe was sure to have tea of some sort, one of the few edible things Ryoga enjoyed with his old form. The stress relief might help him stop this girls body from it's constant morphing between flesh and photon, as well as clear his thoughts on how to return to his own form.
The dragon opened the door, a little bell going off as he did, causing the dragon to bow a bit and apologize for intruding. A common enough Japanese gesture, though most of the Americans would fail to understand his manners or his speech, especially in this girl's body with it's terrible accent. The dragon walked slowly towards a counter, letting his eyes gaze about the room, picking up on each person who was around as well as what he might be interested in. How odd that so many little mortals could fit inside these buildings, it all looked so small to him when he was in his own body, like birds or mice living within a hole in the wall.
Finding a person ready to serve behind the counter brought a smile to Tses's body's face for two reasons, both because Ryoga was feeling that odd pang the girl's body got when it was hungry or thirsty, but more so because the person he saw was clearly Japanese, or mostly so.
"Konnichiwa! What a surprise to meet another Japanese person here!" (Said in Japanese)
Ryoga bowed Tses's body as he introduced himself to the server. His accent was off but Ryoga could still certainly speak his native language well enough with Tses's body.
"I do not go to Cafe's often, tell me please can I order Green Tea here?" Ryoga asked, switching back into English as he spoke. His manners were impeccable, and the smile he wore on Tses's face made the girl appear far nicer than she ever did on her own, but that look in his eyes was just off somehow.
Not to mention the immense feeling of self confidence and arrogance Ryoga gave off naturally, unaware that this server could read beyond just the words the dragon used.
She would dare besmirch his body with paint or graffiti? This woman's audacity was enough to make Ryoga happy he'd never want or seek a woman of his own, their gender was clearly terrible save for his Mother. Or perhaps this creature was merely the worst example of their gender. "My form is majestic, the body of a God! The earthen color of my boy is more than perfect you...you rodent!" He retorted angrily, this girl managing to get under his skin once more. The anger didn't last though, as she explained what that feeling was.
Ryoga's unique metabolism somehow managed to make his water needs nearly non-existent. And even what he drank rarely needed to be emptied, his odd fusion of reptilian and mutant physiology creating quite the efficient system. The idea of urination was all but unknown to him, but the thought of having to go as a woman? His cheeks exploded in crimson at the though. "How shameful!" He blurted out in embarrassment, touching this body already bothered him, but now he'd have to look...at a woman's body! Mortal nudity was of no interest to a dragon! And Ryoga had never looked...at a girl's body before, after all even as a boy he was still covered in scales and walking on all fours.
He turned away from his own body and began to pace, trying to clear his thoughts. His legs had begun to buckle and bump against one another in an effort to hold back his body's new instinct. "I...I...really have to go!" He quickly dropped Tses's body down in a bow, his urge to cover his shame super-ceding his dislike of Tses currently. "I'll try not to look!" He turned and bolted off for the Mansion, his thoughts a bubbling mess of embarrassment and anger.
Ryoga sighed deeply as he continued to talk at the brick wall unknown to him as Tses. Give a mortal a shiny new toy or a little bit of authority and they ran with it, their ignorance was outstanding. He pressed her hands against his face and tried to restrain he frustration he currently couldn't expect. Pulling back from his hands he saw his form lash out lazily, like a hippo swatting a fly, he fell backwards with a thud as his rear hit the earth. The insolence! Just how arrogant was this woman who'd stolen his form? Oh right, she stole a God's body, her ego was surely enough to smother a small nation.
"You know nothing woman, your ignorance is large enough to nearly crush me. You'd threaten you own flesh? If you aren't behind this, and I am beginning to assume that you aren't, killing this body might do nothing but kill us both." If he died in her form, would he simply die? Would he swap back into his body by default? He needed to find the culprit and understand this curse, Gods were beings of passion and whimsy, but he was not merely a God, but an honorable son of Japan, he had honor and integrity to live up to. Enough of being mad at this insolent dog, she was nothing to him, even when wearing his flesh.
He stood up off the ground and dusted himself off, adjusting his clothes to fit better to his own sense of comfort. "Yes...I need to find someone of intelligence or wisdom to speak with, arguing with a mortal is pointless. Besides you assume my form is safe, but there is one who knows everything about that body that you do not, Me. And I can think of plenty to do with a woman's body in return." He said smirking up at the lazy beast who'd dare imitate his majesty.
If Tses wanted to threaten Ryoga with harm he'd simply escape from the clumsy girl and put her form into all sorts of trouble to deal with when he found a way to swap back, and he would find a way. A God would not be denied...but speaking of denial, that weird pressure in his gut had grown more during this time, especially after jumping backwards to evade her just now. "You, woman. I'm tired of debating your pointless thoughts but I most know. Your form has become quite...pressed in the midsection, like pressure or an unscratchable itch. What is this?" He demanded pointing up at her.
Tses's body was far more human than Ryoga's own, which meant it had needs and urges that the dragon was unaccustomed to, namely he was really needing to hit the restroom.
To be scorned by your own face, speaking words you would never stay but none the less seeing them said with your mouth was truly infuriating. Whoever this thief was, Ryoga was certain that he already hated her. Could't make her? Were it not for her trickery Ryoga would have already splattered the girl into a fine mist for her insolence. "Perhaps you cannot make anyone do anything, but I am a God, and I will see my flesh returned to me." Ryoga said with disdain, following the sluggish Tses as she returned to his shrine to rest upon his bed.
He felt his lip quiver a bit in frustration when she mentioned flight, so she'd tried to fly and found out his one real secret. "You've no idea how that form works or what it's capable of, you ignorance is truly outstanding." He retorted. "I'm guessing you feel quite sluggish right now don't you? You barely understand how to walk my body even."
Ryoga laughed, his own affinity with Tses increasing as he began to tap into her own snarky and confrontational nature with his speech. "Even if you sleep on my bed, it won't change who you are. Your form is far too frail and fleshy for anyone's taste." He said, remembering how he'd touched himself when he first realized what had happened, and how unusual a human body was, especially a girls considering Ryoga had been born partly mutated and lost any semblance of human form years ago.
She had to be a thief, only some mutant trickery could pull this mental swap on a God. The fact that mutant abilities mattered at all to him was infuriating, mortal things were barely within his realm of notice and he was not enjoying the experience his Mother had sat upon him so far. "Whatever power you've used to switch our minds is clearly thievery, and I have no patience or respect for criminals!" Even staring up at his massive form Ryoga could feel the security of his power. Look at how large and powerful his body looked, even when this girl had no idea how to posture it, he was certain a single swat of his wing or the clamp of his jaws could end a life...even his own.
If he died in a mortal form he'd surely be dead truly? He absolutely had to cure this swap and return to his own body. She dared to question his divinity? What insolence this woman had, were all women outside of Japan so miserable? Was Shelby but the only exception? He snorted at her and responded. "Sitting upon a king's throne doesn't make you a king woman, and dwelling in my body makes you no more than a thief playing pretend." That smug look on her face...it felt somehow irritating but comforting at the same time, was that the look he gave others?
"For whatever reason your power and I seem to have an affinity, and it's let you steal something beyond your understand, I at least command that you cease wrecking my adoptive home and explain how you did this." Even stored within Tses's little form Ryoga's confidence was enough to smother a small country, the look in his eyes enough to burn a hole through anyone.
Ryoga's borrowed eyes pulled as open as they could in frustration as he watched his form of all things, his majestic visage rudely snort a single word and spit nasty food at someone, HIMSELF of all things. The steam vented from his ears as he wiped the slick piece of cooking from his face and flung it to the ground. Never had he been so insulted in his life, even that bone witch had more manners then this, and she was a psychotic demon wearing the flesh of a woman.
"How...how DARE you spit on me! I am a GOD you fool! And you dare steal my form? Is this body yours? Are you this sickening female creature?" He spit heinous venom back at the girl in response to her lack of manners. Ryoga might be the most self centered smug creature on the Earth, but he'd die before he'd let anyone disrespect him in turn! Gods had the right to look down on others, and this woman was no God, even if she wore one this night.
The thief continued to press her way inside the building, racking up more damage in a fruitless search he was sure. "Stop, stop it I said! There's no point in wrecking the building!" What the heck was this person even doing? Just destroying things with his body for the fun of it? No...there had to be some reason, just like he had urges he'd not been used to, perhaps the swap had left his natural instincts with a mind that didn't understand them.
He took a breath and stepped forward, showing no fear against his own imposing form as Tses continued to root around in the kitchen like a pig sniffing for truffles. "You will find nothing in that room to wake your body thief. I do not eat mortal food." He stand forcefully, assuming whoever it was felt hungry. "And cramming anymore junk down MY throat is disgusting! Now I demand that you explain yourself!"
Tses's small form acting so smug might not be entirely out of character for her, but the odd way of speaking and little bits of polite speech intermixed with demands might strike anyone else as entirely impossible.
Walking along alone at night might scare most women, but Tses was a tougher girl than most, especially when her body was being run by the mind of a God. Ryoga found his hands often trying to hold himself as he walked, the chill of the night bothering him more than it ever had. Each time his hands met his body though, he sort of jumped and put them back to his sides, this frail woman's form coupled with loose clothing was bothering him in a way he'd never experienced before.
"Mattaku bakage." (How ridiculous)
Ryoga mumbled to him/herself as he headed towards the one real location he knew here in New York, the Mansion. Were humans literally always this miserable? His usual form easily dominated everything, including the elements themselves, but as a human he couldn't stop noticing the ambient temperature, or worse, that odd sensation in his gut. Was he hungry? No...no this might be something worse.
He shook the redness from his cheeks as he neared the Mansion, looking at the large compound from a distance. It looked so...big now. He shook his head once more, and came up to the gate. Tses's voice lacked all of the authority or power that Ryoga's did, but he made sure to put some force into the girl's vocal chords. "Open this gate, right now please!" He shouted, the addition of please both an odd thing for a demand, as well as Tses of all people. Oh right, it was like two in the morning or something wasn't it? Why did he feel so...awake? Ryoga was always sluggish beneath the moon, it's light tasted so odd and had no warmth to it like that of the sun. Wait...he couldn't feel the light like he could, but he still felt...something. He paused from his shouting at the gate to look down at his hand once more...no her hand, whoever this girl was. He clenched the slender fingers, there was none of the power his old body had, but these were human fingers, something he'd lacked basically his entire life. His wings did not have the same digits, but more than that, he felt a power within her body as well. Somehow...similar to his own? Maybe that was why he woke up in this body? Some sort of mutant trickery or a curse?
No time to discern the nature of her ability at the moment, he needed to find HIS body. He felt the irritation rising, then he heard a smashing sound. His eyes darted open in surprise before he knew he had to get in here before someone ruined his standing with the mansion, or worse, ruined his magnificent form! He fumbled with the intercom for a moment, buzzing frantically for anyone to respond. Finally someone buzzed back, one of the local mutants or staff members asking who it was at such an hour. "Quickly! Open the gates and let me inside! I am Orochi, a God demands you let him in!" He said frantically, the high pitch of Tses's voice clearly giving away that he was in no way the massive lizard the mansion had been hosting for months now. "Yeah right, I can hear a girl's voice ya know, who is this? Oh hell someone just smashed the windows!..." The person ran off, and left Ryoga fuming at the gate.
He sighed audibly, before he remembered this body's power. He'd made some sort of explosion earlier, perhaps he could blow open the gate? Ugh but damaging his host's property was not the proper behavior of an honorable guest, especially a foreign God. But what about that other thing? He'd like phased into some sort of light earlier, could he do that now? He grasped the cold iron of the bars and stared beyond, looking at the Mansion as various lights flared on in response to whomever had broken the windows and wall earlier. He took a breath and spoke. "Alright, come on girl, just do as I wish." He tried thinking about various things, turning into light, turning invisible, but it seemed to not be working. "Come on! Do it!" He stamped her foot down, and then suddenly fell forward as his grip on the bars phased, his form shifted to moonlight as he passed through the gate and was standing on the cold pavement of the Mansion's driveway.
"Yatta!!" He said, laughing to himself at the successful use of a foreign power.
Within the grounds of the Mansion now, Ryoga sprinted off towards his Shrine, a large portion of the grounds conceded to him because of his size and perosnality, only to see exactly what he didn't want to see, himself standing there, looking undignified and eating something. God's didn't need to eat! He caught his breath and then spoke, as loud as Tses's frail little voice box could for his liking.
"BakayarÅ! Stop your foolishness and return my form to me, Right now!" (Moron!)
The oddity of Tses's small form shouting up at herself now, and speaking poorly pronounced Japanese mixed with English might just be enough to stir the dragon-jacked girl from her cookie binge.
