The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Pain shot through the trapped mutant's legs as the claws dug into his calf. However, Shade's pride did not allow him to utter more than a hiss of annoyance at the pain. He was then slammed into the pavement rather unceremoniously. The Orderling only managed barely to avoid landing on his head by rolling onto his shoulder. However, that left his shoulder sore and raw.
Shade did not allow the lizard mutant any pleasure in his pain as he was quickly back on his feet. He may be bleeding from several cuts and scraps along with a hurt shoulder, but he was still able to maintain his composure. Shade eyed the extended hand with distaste and only gave a grunt of acknowledgement as a reply. He was not about to get close enough to have the big brute get close enough to entrap him again. Shade could only hope the reptile man understood the gesture as a sign that he would comply with the terms for now. However, his eyeless gaze traveled back to the dark queen as she laid out her plan.
"Well, you do know how to compliment people." Shade replied with an evil smile. Of course, his skills in the dark were largely do to his mutation, but he had developed his own stealth through the continued use of that mutation.
"Any ideas on how large this effect of hers is? I would hate to be caught being a peeping Tom." The shadow mutant said, before addressing the other mutant as well.
"I find killing mutants to be a necessary part of my work. You just can't persuade some people to see the errors of their ways. Well...at least, I can't." Shade added, glancing at Syn when he uttered the last part. He always wondered what made her so good at what she did.
I leave for the ship today and have no idea how the Internet will be there. Luckily, it is only for a five day cruise to start out with. I will try to post, but we will see.
When Xavia watched out of her dressing room, the shadow mutant had to repress the effort to exclaim at her new appearance. It was remarkable the changes that could occur within a dressing room, and her new assistant was definitely showing why she was worth hiring.
- “I told you my name.”
Shade only smirked at the comment. Yes, he knew her name. He just preferred to be professional. Maybe too professional. He followed her as she made her way towards the stage, but he stayed outside of the performance area. Shade carefully surveyed the crowd gathered before the stage and beyond for any potential threats. While Xavia was killing it on stage, the body guard couldn't help but watch her perform. She was on fire tonight- at least, for the first song. Then something happened. Shade wasn't sure, but Xavia sort of closed up. Something was wrong. Had it been someone in the crowd?
However, he did not say anything as the singer came off the stage and headed straight to her dressing room to change. Shade was confident she would work through it, which was why he was surprised when she called him into the dressing room. He wasn't used to being in the place. It was way too girly for one thing with all the clothes laid about and the huge collection of makeups that were all placed strategically in front of the large mirror, not to mention the strong smell of roses that seemed saturated in the air.
-“Something isn’t right tonight...Just… Please be on the look out for me, okay?”
"Xavia, I promise nothing will happen to you." Shade replied, hoping it would calm the singer down. The whole thing seemed a little far-fetched, but the shadow mutant would definitely keep a closer eye on things tonight, even if it was just to ensure Xavia felt safer.
-“I guess I should get back out there, eh?”
"Someone has to sing the songs, and it sure is not going to be me." The night stalker joked, trying to lighten the mood and shake Xavia out of whatever was bothering her. The second set went a little better, but Shade could still see something was bothering her in the back of her mind. It was a good performance, but not her best.
After the show, the finished singer was approached by a kind fan. Shade almost made a move to subdue the man, but Xavia seemed to enjoy the man's company so he let it slide. Although he kept a close eye on the couple.
"You ever see him before?" Shade asked the stage manager as he walked past. The manager gave a halfway shrug before disappearing to clean up the mess from the show. It was not the answer Shade was exactly looking for. All he knew was the guy gave him the creeps. The shadow mutant watched their little exchange with care, and when Xavia was returning to her dressing room, Shade quickly fell in behind her to ensure the man did not try and sneak off to her dressing room. He took his post outside his door, allowing only Xavia's new assistant to enter the dressing room, as he waited for her to change.
She returned dressed in her leathers and ready to ride. Shade was just about to follow her out to her motorcycle when the stage director called the shadow mutant over. He then began to tell Shade about how some of the audience had thought that the body guard had been a little rude to them, not letting them get too near Xavia. Well that was Shade's job after all, wasn't it? To ensure that his boss was kept safe and out of harm's way from obsessed little fans.
"Look, you do your job and I'll do mine. You don't see me telling you how to run your light show, which sucks by the way, so don't tell me how to protect my client!" Shade finished as he stormed off. Tonight had not been a fun night, but at least, it was almost over. Shade ducked into a dark spot and a second later he was outside, just in time to see Xavia fall into the hands of the adoring fan from before.
However, something was off. It was too played out, this little simulation as if it had been planned out with the fat man waddling over and everything. Then the truth began to come out. Oh, the things people did when they thought no one was listening. Little did they know how dead they would soon be. It sounded like they were splitting up, one taking the girl and one taking the motorcycle. Shade would wait on them to act upon this. Once separated, a blade would meet both of their necks for what they had done, or at least tried to accomplish.
The bird man sure was cheeky. And annoying. From the way he was acting, Shade did not believe the boy took him seriously about killing him. Well, he had been underestimated before. That person had ended up dead too. Although the shadow mutant was not too hasty as to notice the fact that the flier did have the advantage up here (and in the daytime). Shade secretly cursed the blasted ball of burning gas above him for probably the millionth time in his lifetime. But now, the youngster wanted to talk about the game, the game that both of them obviously played quite frequently.
"You see, that your problem right there. You only think that the money inside the wallet as the valuable part of the pick. What more will someone give for their life back?" Shade replied as he withdrew the business man's cell phone from his pocket along with two others he had stolen earlier in the day.
"Even if I didn't wait for the owners to call back, looking for them, the local pawn store would probably give double of what cash they had in their pockets." He flashed that evil grin before returning the stolen items back into the pockets of his jeans and hoodie.
Shade was angry, very angry. It was not so much about the value of the property that had been stolen from him as much as it was about the humiliating feeling he had from having a young kid put one over on him. It made him so frustrated that he had to find this kid. But how? It was bright day light outside and Shade's powers were virtually useless. That made the shadow mutant even more angry.
The Orderling breathed a massive sigh as his red hot brain tried to decipher a way to find the thieving little pickpocket. But due to the amount of smoke in his brain, Shade was having a hard time coming up with any ideas. Shading his eyes with his hand, he looked up to the heaven in hopes of catching a glimpse of the theft, but all he saw were the reflecting windows of the multitude of skyscrapers. It was bright outside, sunshine. No way he could 'port around like he would want to at night. No way to track him through the darkness as an unteleportable location.
"But..." Shade whispered to himself as his brain slowly worked out a situation. Maybe, he could track the shadow cast by the winged mutant as a 'portable location in the light. It was worth a shot at least. Shade threw out his dark sense searching near his limits, both vertical and horizontal, any dark enough spaces that were moving across the sky line. He hit many small, tiny spots. They must have been bids. Then suddenly, he felt like a giant cloak was swooping through the air. That must be the kid. Or at least, another flyer. It was worth a shot. Shade immediately began sprinting down the street in that direction.
The shadow mutant now had a general direction of where the pickpocket was heading. Every so often, Shade would throw out dark sense and try to catch that dark swooping shape again. Sometimes, he would hit it; sometimes not. It had been several times in a row of him not feeling the swooping shadow past through his vision when Shade thought he might have lost him again. He kept scanning the skies with both of his senses. searching for the winged teen. However, it was beginning to be hopeless. Either the theft was farther away than Shade's visions could detect or he had landed and disappeared into another shadow.
But just as he was coming to the conclusion that he would have to find this mutant another day, Shade caught a glimpse of two curled up wings on top of a nearby skyscraper. The shadow mutant couldn't believe his luck. It had to be the teenage pickpocket from before. Quickly, Shade disappeared into the front doors of the lobby and began to ascend up the tall building in a fast moving elevator. Reaching the top floor, it was only a matter of finding the nearest staircase until he was up a half flight of stairs and burst through the door on to the roof. And there sitting on the edge of the building was the theft.
"You know what," Shade said, slightly winded from the trip. He placed his hands on his knees for a second as he caught his breath. "You aren't half bad. It's been a while since someone was able to pull a fast one on me like that."
Not feeling so lightheaded anymore, Shade straighten back up as his face became like stone.
It was way to sunny for Shade. He preferred the darkness that twilight brought with it. However, humans were not as nocturnal as The shadow mutant. They needed the light to work and play and see. Things that Shade could do perfectly well in the dead of night. However, his version of play was probably much different than most humans.
Due to the fact that Shade was not hanging around the Sanctuary due to a certain someone, the shadow mutant was short on cash. Although he did have a job with a local singer, acting as her bodyguard, Shade had lost his earnings for the week due to damages he had caused in a bar last week that had resulted from a crazed mutant fan of his employer.
So here he was: pick pocketing unsuspecting patrons as they made their way home from work where they had just earned a large paycheck. Shade was certain the expensive suit wearing bureaucrat in front Of him had a large bank account plus insurance and would not have to worth about the small contents of his wallet.
Just as Shade had masterfully made the steal, an abnormally large pigeon just smashed to the ground from the sky. Correction: it was a boy...with wings. Shade was certain because he was given a good look at these wings as they were rapidly flailing all over him as the young boy tried to regain altitude. It was rather sudden and the shadow mutant had little time to react as he was wing-molested. Really, all Shade could do was try and make himself as protected as possible. After a second or two, the boy wet about his business and Shade was able to claim his prize. The victim of his pull had miraculously not noticed that his wallet was missing as Shade quickly withdrew in to the crowd to cover his tracks.
As soon as he was behind of wall people enough to separate himself from the suited man, Shade withdrew the wallet and quickly thumbed through it to get to his reward. However, all Shade could find was old credit cards and two dollar bills. The shadow mutant sighed to himself as he reached back to add the tiny amount of money to the stack already in his wallet. However...Wait a second... Shade slapped both butt cheeks then his thighs as he searched for his suddenly missing wallet. He had just had it two minutes aging. Where could it have gone?
Then it hit him. It hit Shade like a high speed bullet train- the angel! That was why he had wing-beat him so rough. The little rascal was covered his pull! Shade immediately began to search the skies for the winged man. He knew the kid was probably long gone, but Shade was determined to find him.
Another night, another show. It was business as usual for the night crawler as he stood outside the door leading to Xavia's dressing room. Their present business agreement was going surprising well since the budding singer had asked Shade to protect her from any potential 'fan' problems. Most of the work was rather dull with only a couple of people that caused any real problems. Heck, Shade hadn't even had to kill anyone yet.
Although the work was not the most exciting, the pay was great, and it was what kept the shadow mutant at this post (or near it). He was excellent at using the shadows to hide himself until a potential problem arose. The surprise of seeing a man appear out of no where usually scared all but the worst problem fans away.
Shade heaved a sigh as he stood his guard duty. It was probably just going to be another boring night with the worst thing happening was only some pervert trying to sneak into the singer's dressing room to spy on her while she undressed. Xavia had mentioned something about her being in danger during their first meeting, but Shade thought she must have been overreacting. Her 'dangers' were nothing more than men who did not understand the word 'No!'.
The stage director appeared from the direction of the entertainment stage, holding a hand up signaling a 'five'. Shade had quickly learned the unspoken jargon of the stage world on his first night. He gave two heavy knocks on the door to ensure Xavia would hear him over her warm ups.
"Five minutes 'til you're on, boss!" Shade halfway yelled through the door.
Shade thought the mission was off to a rather successful start. He had managed to infiltrate the house and rpovide an interest for this bug partner before- Clank! The lights returned and Shade's figure was now visible. Luckily, it did not last long as the back up generator was cut, plunging the house into darkness again. The shadow mutant had to admit that the roach had been well informed about the workings of the house before they had started their mission tonight.
The invisible Shade allowed his insect partner to take the lead as they began to move towards the second floor of the house. The shadow mutant felt something move in the darkness before the intruder frozen the massive cockroach in its tracks. It was a good thing Shade was behind the glossy exoskeleton of the bug as it protected him from the dreadful light. The moment after the flashlight was ignited Shade had already 'ported behind the guard. It was pathetic watching as the roach tried to save the man's life, pathetic and futile.
Shade jammed his blade into the spinal cord of the gunman as he wrenched him downwards. The beam of the flashlight followed the barrel of the gun towards the roof as the surprised guard fired a shot from the revolver into the plastered ceiling causing it to snow tiny white pieces of drywall. Shade knelt as he laid the dying man down on the landing of the second floor, before rising to ensure the man-sized bug was alright.
"You good?" Shade asked hoarsely, his ears were still ringing slightly from the gun blast
So I am currently on leave for ten days then I will be sent to the ship in the Pacific Ocean and do not know how my Internet will be. I will try to stay constant, but we will have to see how everything goes.
This affects all Shade threads. Hopefully everything will be fine.
This thread was actually an RP request for anyone who wished to discuss it in character inside the Sanctuary. It was talking about in the other thread that the underlings of the Order would kind of have a little debate, kind of voice their opinions between each other.
I was looking for anyone who wanted to RP it out. I guess I could have posted that in the other thread...
Shade's anger flared again as he was unceremoniously flipped upside down by the giant lizard. He was finding it easier and easier to want to kill this genetic defect, if he ever managed to get out of its bondage. The reptile tried to reach for his leg, but Shade flailed violently, trying to kick away the sharp claws. However, Syn broke up the little struggle by bringing up a potential mission. His struggling stopped as he locked back onto the dark and red haired beauty.
"Really?" Shade replied, the familiar grin returning to the parts of his face that were visible. Even though this may not be the real Syn (and he was beginning to believe so) and if the prize was to destroy the Adapted, then he was all for it.
"Well, do tell! And I promise I will not try to kill you ever again...even if you are not who you say you are. An enemy of an Adapted is a friend of mine."
So Shade had become rather displeased with the current leadership of the Order (and I know it is going through changes as I speak), but he also does not want an Adapted walking through the walls of the Sanctuary. He would like to discuss this with other non-leaders of the Order/ residents of the Sanctuary and what might be done about it.
If you are interested to be a member of the unrest present in the Order, please post below or PM about any ideas you have.
Gathering of the Order- The newly inducted Order member attends a meeting to discuss the future plans of the Order
A Road to Pain- Shade, Horus, and the Abyssi destroy a cult of mutant haters, and in the process, Horus is killed.
A Snake in the Garden- (Personal Favorite) In order to the test the efficiency of the Haywire Virus, Shade is given the mission of infiltrating the X-mansion and infecting a mutant with the virus. He also tries to steal information on the X-men but is interrupted by Silver Streak.
A giant cockroach was not what Shade had expecting when he was informed that he was going to be working with another Order member on a mission. He might have expected someone giant, furry, and red, but never a cockroach. And the fact that is talked just creeped the shadow mutant out even more. It made his crawl just being around it, like tiny bugs were skittering all over him. Shade was unconscious of the fact that he was itching himself more than usual, not that it was helping. It was a good thing that it was dark out. That way Shade only appeared walking next to the huge insect only when the passed underneath a lamppost. It was good just to get this mission over with and remove himself from the unsightly mutant.
CRAKAKOW! The surrounding landscape was illuminated for a brief moment by the flash of lightning. The cockroach was going over the details of the mission, but Shade was only listened to about half of it. Mostly, it was the same thing as before: sneak inside, slit someone's throat, sneak out, leave no evidence. Only difference was a little more security. Security was for the scared. To make them feel safe. And this guy thought he was impenetrable. Oh, how he was wrong.
"Impossible? This is almost too easy." Shade replied with a grin. The feelings of creepy crawlers died away as Shade's mind began to focus on the mission. It seemed pretty simple so far. 'Port in, open a window, kill a greedy bastard, 'port out.
He followed his partner forward until they were placed against the glass of the front door. Light was everywhere. Shade hated light. Luckily, his partner knew this and had planned ahead. Maybe, the giant cockroach was not so creepy after all. Disgusting still, yes. But not as creepy. Shade watched as the huge insect disappeared into the night as it started as the rain began to pelt the house. Well, that would cover up any noise.
The electricity was cut, and the house descended into darkness. It took Shade half a second to 'jump' inside the house. His landing was a little louder than he had hoped as his boots smacked! against the expensive tile used to cover the first floor. However, Shade did not let that phase him as he quickly made his way, invisibly across the room. He thought he heard something rustling upstairs. Was that a gun being loaded?
Shade shook off the feeling. His head was just playing games with him. Making it to the window, he pulled the latch back on the heavy window and slid it open, causing a gust of wind to blow the curtains around wildly as the rain followed, pelting the floor in front of the window.
