The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> “On their own, no. Probably not without help from other heroes. After all, working together with other heroes they managed to beat the Anti-Matter, and that guy swallowed entire galaxies and exists so long as anti-matter exists. I think Globe Gobbler would be easy to handle if they could handle the Anti-Matter. But…I…I guess that’s just one nerd’s opinion…”
Chrys took Akshay's opinions into account; he was obviously more versed than her in comic lore, since she knew very little of Anti-Matter. She had no reason to doubt him, and comic books did have the annoying tendency to be very pro-heroes when it came to a fight between good and evil.
"Hmm... true. But that's why it's nice to get a nerd in here sometimes." Big guys knew very little besides sports scores and cars, neither of which was of much interest to Chrys.
Fingers were running through Chrys's hair, which caused her to almost purr with comfort. Akshay truly had some redeeming qualities and the idea of those going to waste at the end of the week was tragic. It was almost enough for her to consider pulling torture off the table so he could enjoy his last days, but if she claimed for it to be off limits, it would only be a more appealing option when she was bored.
Returning her attention to the screen, the voice-over man described the realistic elements of the Automofox. "I wonder if daddy would let me use funding to make someone a real Flying Fox. That would be fun." Sure, she was not typically on the side of conventional "justice," but having her own superhero could be as fun as playtime. She could even set herself up as a seductive nemesis! "Do you think I could make a good Thorned Petal-type villain?" It was a character Chrys always admired from the comics, and appropriately one of Flying Fox's major enemies.
Chrys was paying partial attention to Tess, who was comparably interesting to the ice cream cone she was currently enjoying. It was something about wanting the strawberry ice cream and wanting to leave. Chrys had no idea why Tess was sounding so defensive if she wanted the Strawberry, but she did get the disgruntled request to leave. Chrys was already planning to release Tess from her custody, so that would not be a huge issue either.
And then Tess called Chrys spoiled, which was not the first time Chrys faced the accusation in her life. She understood she was spoiled, and in her eyes it was well-deserved. She was a princess, and princesses were spoiled with whatever they wanted. Tess would understand if she were a princess.
But hey, if anything, Chrys was making Tess a princess in training. It involved lots of polishing, but she was willing to bet Tess could be a success story; she already had selfishness and mischief going for her, so all she needed was some class and a sense of entitlement.
"Oh fine, we're done." Her non-ice cream nomming arm now free of bags, Chrys was able to pull the tiara from her brunette crown and place it loosely on Tess's head. "You were amusing and I truly enjoyed the way you hurt that guy. Thank you."
Tess was an image of beautiful rage, which was high on the list of beautiful embodiments of emotional states. It was an amusing sight, and would be more so if Tess was not clearly considering harming her, which would ruin the leverage Tess assumed Chrys still had.
"That's absurd. There is no inappropriate clothing for ice cream." She still remembered commanding a limo driver to pull through a Wendy's drive thru for a chocolate frosty. Remembering the treat, the craving for chocolate set in. "Too late." Chrys licked the ice cream, savoring the smooth chocolate taste. "Hope you like strawberry."
If Chrys did not comply with Tess's demands, it was likely she would find self-harm as an acceptable sacrifice. Apparently to some, Chrys was "difficult to deal with," whatever that meant. "Fine fine, don't be such a grump." She extended the two bags of clothes with the same arm that was holding the strawberry ice cream. "Everything's in there; old clothes and new," she assured with a smile.
It certainly did not take long for Tess to emerge from the store, and it subsequently took no time after that for Tess to spot Chrys waiting at the ice cream counter. Her presence in the foyer was certainly noticed as pedestrian eyes turned to catch a glimpse of a pretty but very overdressed blonde storming through the mall.
It was apparent in her face that Tess did not find the same degree of humor in Chrys's prank as the Voodoo Girl herself. Additionally, though Tess would not know it, Chrys had walked herself out of range by going to the food court, cutting off the bond between the two. If Tess noticed the change, there could be some rude retributions in Chrys's future, so she would have to begin wrapping up their day at the mall.
Noticing a napkin dispenser, Chrys pulled a pen from her purse and wrote her phone number down. The cashier seemed hopeful, but Chrys quickly shook her head and bluntly replied, "Nope, it's for the girl in the dress. Nice try, though." Chrys dropped the napkin into the bag containing the jeans, camisole and stolen tops.
The two cones were handed to Chrys, one in each hand with the bags dangling from her arms. She approached Tess and before her new friend could say anything (or throw a punch, which was just as likely,) she asked, "Strawberry or Chocolate?"
Chrys was patiently waiting outside the door, or at the very least what passed for patient with her. There was toe tapping and a few disgruntled sighs, but those could mainly be attributed to how excited she was for her great new idea.
Once Chrys could feel the soft clothy presence of a dress, a shawl and gloves on her skin, she was willing to believe she was once again granted visitation rights. Tess was dawdling, and Chrys was enjoying herself too much for waiting, so she keyed back into the changing room.
The girl looked passable! Sure, she was pale as a ghost, but some people found light skin tones appealing, and even if that was not the case, there were ways around it. "Not bad. Could probably use some make-up, but this would certainly be acceptable if I ever needed to call on you." Everyone kept questions to a minimum when a young lady was accompanied by another young lady at a high-class event.
"Okay that's the last outfit I'll be outside paying good luck!" It was a tragic run-on sentence, that just barely beat out the door closing once more and Chrys pretty much skipping over to the neat clothing piles.
She had to act quickly, before Tess could react and ruin her fun. Chrys ran over to the counter, placing the clothing down. "Hi, I need to check out quickly; we're running late and I have to get out to the care to get into my dress. My friend'll just have to wear hers out. It's one of those--" She pointed to the spot where Chrys pulled the dress from. There was no reason for her to be lying; it was one of the most expensive things in the store. "And there was a shawl and a set of those gloves, too."
The cashier seemed confused, but Chrys pressed the issue one more time. "Please, if we don't get going, one of us might get fired." Chrys clasped her hands together pleadingly, with her elbows pressing inward just enough to create as much cleavage as her modest chest could muster.
The man was hesitant, but he started ringing out the purchases and Chrys hastily placed them in bags. She handed over her card and he swiped it at a similar pace. Listening in for what she was sure would be an opening changing room door, Chrys took the bags and thanked the young man relentlessly as she backpedaled out of the store.
With the bags in hand containing the new purchases and all of Tess's tops, Chrys jogged her way to the food court, approaching the ice cream shoppe counter. Something cold and sweet sounded perfect to her.
Chrys chuckled. "Figures you'd like something hot and spicy." She repeated the order into the phone and added the address and floor.
With the order out of the way, Chrys changed over to the History channel, which responded with a documentary about Flying Fox. It was the modern, gritty Flying Fox, but the hero brought to mind Akshay's heroic underpants, and Chrys could not help but giggle. How rare was it for her to pick up someone so comfortably nerdy from a club?
Chrys stretched out and turned herself around until she was officially lying there with her legs dangling off the armrest and her head resting in Akshay's lap. "Hmm. If they were in the same universe, do you think Spectacular Man and Flying Fox could stop Globe Gobbler on their own? I mean, sure they are popular and strong and smart, but the dude eats planets. Would they even stand a chance there?"
So Tess did not respond very well to Chrys's invasion, which was rather rude considering Chrys was actually taking Tess's personal preferences into account when dressing her! Obviously the girls was a little shy, so Chrys let the aggression slide. It was not that weird for a girl to see her dolls without clothes when playing dress-up, so Chrys thought nothing of it.
"I figured I'd check to see if you needed help with your dress--my, you're actually a pretty little thing under all those clothes, huh?" With even a touch of TLC, Tess could be something pretty impressive. The thought of making the poor girl an ongoing project was gaining some steam with her.
Tess was so busy turtling up, she seemed less aware of her surroundings. A fun idea crossed Chrys's mind, and as was typical of her, she quickly decided to follow through with it. "So I guess you are feeling fine about your ability to get dressed, and my my are you touchy about being seen naked." As Chrys spoke, she picked up the clothing Tess had already tried. Amidst the jeans and dress, she also snuck a few other things into the pile: Tess's shirt and undershirt. She really wanted to swipe the boots, but it would have been too noticeable. "I'll be waiting outside then, grumpy no-pants."
Once outside the room, Chrys placed the new purchases in a neat pile, and hid the stolen clothes under the neat pile. She would continue with her plan after examining the dress on her dolly; no sense in rushing and making a poor purchase.
Chrys chuckled at the comment about the heels. "That's a dancing dress, so you could probably get away with flats. Not in this next one though."
The moment the door made its signature click, Chrys grabbed the last piece of clothing: a dress certainly meant for a higher class of event than Tess was accustomed to. It was probably for events Tess would have never planned on getting near, but life was full of surprises. "Just start changing, I'll be right back!"
Inspiration struck, and Chrys was on a mission. Returning to the floor, she found three nice shawls; red, black, and white. The color scheme was working so far, so why mess with a winning strategy? Atop the shoulder-wear, she realized that Tess had a neurotic need to cover up her wrists, and there were prettier ways to do so for a formal event. After a quick scan, Chrys found a pair of long black gloves that would go with the dress perfectly.
Bringing the spoils of her search to the door, she considered throwing them over, but it occurred to her that the dress might be easier to get into with help. Despite feeling the familiar air on her stomach, Chrys (with the social tact only she could claim) turned the key in the lock and barged into the changing room. "I have more things to go with the dress!"
The girl placed the shawl over her shoulders, and it really pulled the outfit together. The colors emboldened each other, and complimented her light skin. She was red, black, and white, and it turned the tough-looking girl into something almost alluring.
The girl performed a little spin, which amused Chrys, but she was still downplaying herself. Chrys flicked her own cheek with her index finger to share the minute scolding with Tess. "Quit it. When you get rid of the grundgy look you have going on, you're actually a pretty doll to play with." Chrys probably would have gotten bored if Tess did not wear the selected outfits so well.
Chrys led the girl back to the dressing room, picking a blue camisole off the rack along the way. "Okay, I don't think I have to keep pushing you in." Instead, Chrys simply opened the door to the dressing room and waited for Tess to take her place once more.
As Tess switched into the dress of her choosing, Chrys could feel the soft material clinging to her skin. "Wow, that one is nice and soft! Hope you like it!" she called through the door, wondering which of her selections she was feeling.
Her new friend finally emerged and Chrys got a good look at her. It was not the former fitting of the dresses, but it flattered Tess's body well. "Hmm." Chrys got close to Tess, looking her over at point-blank range before deciding how she wanted to improve upon the look.
With swift hands, she took Tses's face by the chin and cheek in one hand, and the other placed a finger behind the girl's hair-tie. Running the finger down the length of the ponytail, the band fell to the ground and Tess's hair fell out of it's containment and down to her shoulders. "There. Now you look club ready."
Except her posture and her confidence were all wrong. It was rather silly, since she was actually a fairly attractive young woman. Because of Chrys's unique affinities, it did not hit her right away that Tess could be self-conscious about her lovely scars. "Do the scars bug you that much? Fine."
A lovely outfit was not going to be ruined by bad body image. Chrys grabbed Tess by the banded wrist and pulled her out into the store. There was a shelf of shawls right near the entry to the dressing rooms, so Chrys started digging through options as Tess remained waiting.
Eventually, Chrys pulled out a sheer black shawl and thrust it toward Tess. "Here, try this." Some people could be so difficult.
My nomination will actually be for the pretty, prolific, moon-powered mutant above me! Since she's joined MRO barely half a month ago, Tses has torn through threads like a madwoman, which makes the high quality of her posts so darn impressive! Her attention to detail, her style, and her mutli-faceted talents have shown through quickly.
Of course, much of her amazing work has been through the wonderful relationship arc her and Ty are crafting, but there has been plenty to be impressed by when Tses interacts with others!
Moonlit Shadows- Shade realizes that the Full Moon is not an ideal time to get on Tses's bad side.
A "Bloody" Bad Evening/Bleeding Emotions- Tses leads Serena through a tough time to a new place and a new friend while dealing with the most foreign of concepts: "feelings."
Holidays and Hooligans- Christmas Time at the zoo between a pair of troublemakers in love.
