The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Once again Sara was momentarily distracted by Pluto. Though not fully that she took her focus off of Donovan. Personally she would have preferred to leave her opponent conscious. Healing was no fun, especially from injuries that were so serious. Pluto let him off easy in Sara's eyes... Then again maybe there was truth to the saying that 'Hell hath no ferry like a woman scorned.' And Sara was feline on top of that.
Sara had Donovan by the throat but her other hand rested on his that held a gun. It took her only a twist to relieve him of the weapon and toss it behind her at Pluto's feet. It wasn't that she expected him to pick it up, but she doubted anyone else would if it was that close to him.
"I want to know where you take them." Sara told Donovan as she demanded information. She then shifted her grip on his neck so that he could talk.
His breath heaved in. his upper lip pulled back from the pressure that Sara had administered. Almost like a dog trying to look tough.... almost if he didn't have to cough to catch his breath and his pulse wasn't racing under Sara's finger tips. "Even if I told you, there is nothing that you could do." Donovan laughed with his voice dry and harsh that quickly turned dryer and harsher when Sara squeezed his neck again, pulled him forward then rammed him against the side of the ban behind him again hard enough this time to make the van rock back and forth on it's shocks. "They're gone!" Donovan choked out. His hands trying to dig under Sara's fingers to loosen her grip. "I sold them."
"Where!" This time Sara's voice had lost it's composure. It echoed off of the building and though she tried to hide it, had a small shake at the end. All Sara needed was a location. She could get a lot of information from just a location, but she was also loosing what composure she had.
Kyle's motion drew Sara's attention through her 6th sense, and she had to admit that while she was half way expecting the elbows, she had not gotten herself as ready for them as she could have. At first the attacks to her ribs made her tighten her grip. Her side began to ache and before the healing factor could take care of the pain, Kyle did manage to twist his elbow back at the right angle at one point to knock the wind out of her. Making her cry out with a sound that had a mix of a human cry with a growl.
It didn't take a genius to tell that Kyle was tiring. Even with Sara's sense of sight taken temporarily she could smell the blood loss and hear his heave breathing. She had a couple of different options. She could fight to hold on, take the beating to her ribs until he went down, or she could let go and try to make him keep up with her with more strenuous activities. the second thought sounded a lot more fun, and a lot less like she might have to heal a broken rib or two. Besides. Kyle had just managed to turn too much within Sara's grip.
Sara swiftly stepped back and planted a foot behind herself. Tail whipping behind her heals. Kyle was turning and as he was raising his hands in Sara's direction, she was going into the air having pushed herself up and forward with added prapeltion from the foot that had only remained planted for a second. With her arms out to the sides for balance, the rest of her body curled up on it's self, feet aiming to come down on Kyle's chest as he shot bolts at her. Some landing and making her flinch and cry out again with a hiss of air that had been forced out of her lungs.
Movement off to Sara's right drew her attention and for a second, she was distracted as Pluto jogged up next to her. But it was Pluto. Not the other one and Sara's full attention returned to the male doppelganger of her own. He'd started to try to twist out of her grip, though trying wasn't nearly successful and Sara ended up bending him further backwards. with her claws of her foot firmly pressed into the back of her opponent's knee, he was forced to stretch further than his back wanted to allow and his face showed the strain with his lips pulled back. He was still breathing but it was harsh till Sara eased up a bit.
Pluto threw a rock that flipped Donovan's car leaving him with no place to go but that still didn't answer Sara's question. Where would they have gone. Were their more people that they had captive? Sam hadn't mentioned any but she had also only been here at Sara's storage units.
For a moment, sara thought about breaking the male feline mutant's back. He had Sara's mutation so he'd heal. Sara didn't know how long he would heal but for now he would. So she did. With a twist her fingers broke the feline mutant's back between his shoulder blades. The feline hadn't told Sara where they would have gone yet so she still owed him a skinning. At least the broken spine would keep him in place for some time. Sara could skin him when she was done with Donovan.
"No body is to help Donovan Moor." Sara said to any of her clients who were sill watching. "Donovan Moor traffic's people and that is one crime that I will not tolerate in my business." As Sara gave that information, a couple of her clients turned their attention more on Donovan. There were things that you just didn't say you did, if you did them in different organizations. A rapist never said that they were a rapist in prison. It was practically a death sentence. Human trafficking had too much to do with the same subject. Donoban Moor was going down in more than one way. Through his business, through those he kept as employees, through his colleagues, and if Sara could help it, through her. A couple of younger males pulled guns on Donovan, others looked shocked still. "If Human trafficking continues though my warehouses, I will have that person's throat."
Sara's words were final. She was not yelling but stern low projection of her voice carried across the yard. One way or another she would make sure that the word was passed. Once again Sara was stalking up twoards Donovan Moor. It wa symilar movement to a house cats movement as they were cornering a mouse and when she reached the last ten feet he drew a weapon, only making it half way before Sara burst forward with speed and was on him. His throat was in her hand within a heart beet a Sara pressed him backwards against one of her client's vans.
I don't think that this will effect my activity or not but starting next week I am going back to school to because a certified nursing assistant. (CNA) I still have to have an interview before I get into the program, but I'm 90% sure that I will pass the interview because it is with someone who works where I have volunteered in the past, and he has helped me get my foot in the door with other opportunities in the past.
While my degree in graphic design has gotten me work, it has not gotten me stable employment where I live. I would still like to continue my studies in graphic design and fine art, and I am determined to finish my bachelors there, but right now going into the health care field makes more sense. Once I get my certificate, depending on how things I am considering becoming a registered nurse. (RN)
But yeah. Long rambling that really just means, that my posting may be slow for a month.
Sara didn't think that Aurion was dumb at all. As a matter of fact she'd repeatedly learned first hand that a mutant's looks didn't have anything to do with thier IQ.... Most of the time. Why just down the street there was a mutant who looked like a giant snot bubble but he could perform the most amazing math equations.
The crunching sound of the wood, from Sara twisting it free triggered an attack from the giant lizard like mutant. He was fast. Sara was faster but she was also cornered with little space to move or to think. The tail whipped around heading straight for Sara's arm with her make shift weapon. Sara managed to spin the piece of wood in her hand to avoid the tip of the tail, and smack it to the side where it smashed into the wall behind her.
The lizard mutant bellowed at Sara again, witch if she was ticked off before, she was ticked out even more so because he accused her of knowing why he'd killed her client, and for being so darn loud. Her ears pinned against the back of her neck as the sound of his voice assaulted her face. Speaking of assaulting her face the otherr mutant came in for a head butt and Sara couldn't dodge to the left or to the right. She could only try to go up, and when she tried that, he'd caught her with the head butt in the ribs. She was shoved backwards into the wall of the warehouse behind her and the air was pushed violently out of her body. She managed to bring her hands up to his face and push back enough to get her feet up between them With the added force between her hands and her feet she tried to toss him backwards to give herself some space.
Sara stared at him for a moment. He was holstering his gun but there was something that she still didn't trust about the way that the discussion had gone. No she did not plan on fully following through but part of her wanted to see where things really were going to go. Paired with her over confidence in the situation, it would be her down fall within a few moments.
Sara's eyes fell onto the brief case then back to the thief. For a moment, it might have looked like she wasn't going to fall for any of it. then with a tail twitch, she turned on her heal and stepped closer to the brief case. Intending on kicking it over to Thomas with one of her clawed feline feet.
There were few things that Sara liked about a fight. She hated having to heal, she hated the dirt that was kicked up, and most of all, she hated the reasons that she found to fight. She hated herself for getting stuck in the middle of it, and she hated the situation because she almost never felt like she was in full control of it. A blue elf once told her if she couldn't do something well, it was better not to do it.
With that said, this was not your ordinary fight. Sara found purpose in it, and with the purpose, she made every move that she could count. The opponent had her healing factor so she had little reason to hold back and he had her speed, witch have her reason to cripple him more and more. Somewhere in the process, Sara's opponent's arm had healed and he'd started using it again. She didn't realize he'd managed to attack her with his claws across her shoulder.
Pluto throwing his opponent had gone unnoticed be Sara and her opponent until he bellowed. The roar might have been meant as a message to the crowd of Sara's clientel, but it also served as a decent distraction for Sara's opponent. He jumped and Sara couldn't help but notice the hair on his neck stand on end. He looked over his shoulder at the red mutant and Sara took advantage. Her claws sank into his arm, and with a spin and pull, accompanied by a sickening crack, Sara had managed to whip his body back down to the ground. The male cat tried to flip back onto his feet, but Sara knocked his knee sideways, her claws on her foot sank into his leg, and she stood on his leg, pinning it to the ground. One hand reached for the back of the male cat mutant's neck. The scruff. She then bent him backwards to the ground bending the male almost in half like a bow drawn too tight. Her eyes were dilated with the adrenalin pumping through her body from their fight. Some where in the process, Sara had slashed the male's stomach open and he'd left a deep nick around her ribs through her vest.
"The offer for you to help us is still open." Sara offered. The emotions had been pushed out of her voice and what was left sounded dry, low, and filled with mallasc. "Two thoughsand dollars and that is my final offer." Sara let the offer hang between them for a moment, and he replied to her with a fraise that would make a sailor blush. As it was said the tip of Sara's nose darkened. The fraise had been regarding Sara's feline features, but not in the most socially acceptable way.
"OK How about this." Sara let the tip of her claw on her free hand rest on her opponent's adam's apple. "If you don't tell us where your boss has run off to, I will find out how many different ways that I can skin you. you'll heal over and over again, but that will keep you alive."
(If people would like me to move Sara to a different location or edit this post, please PM me.)
At first it was easy for Sara to follow the pair. Kidnapper, and victim. Every moment she was getting angrier and angrier. Between her keen sense of smell and her strong eye sight, there were few moments that she lost track of the two.
Head lights lit up the street, and Sara found herself ducking around the corner of a building. She pressed herself against the wall peered around the corner. Sara's eyes were reflecting the light and giving off the cheep effect that they were glowing but the people in the car didn't seem to notice. wide and wild, Sara shifted to try and find the kidnapper that she had been following, but he had disappeared off of the street as quickly as she had.
Growling quietly at herself for loosing track of them even for a moment, Sara immediately kicked herself for not taking care ofthe kidnapper right away. Ok. So she would have to catch up. snoop around the building, and check for the smells that she had been following. Mean while she couldn't help but over here some of what was being said by the CEOs.
Carefully Sara crept around the corner of the building. Ears twitching here and there, and her nostrils flared. Sara dashed on silent feet. The businessmen never looked in Sara's direction and she quickly found the shadow of a building to creep closer while hiding. The CEO and the men that he had been meeting with him disapeered into the building, and Sara made her way around the building to the front. She'd have to cross under the light of the street lamps there, but so be it then.
It wasn't that easy to just toss Sara. she had claws and used them. What ever wounds she received were too minor to pay much attention to as well. Her body healed and she knew with a quick glance that she'd be healed long before she would have time to properly examine the damage. Sara had a lot of things going for herself. Most people immediately recognized her feline features and healing abilities. Few recognized her true speed, and fewer yet knew about her 6th sense. If she could take out his eyes, the 6ths sense would be severely disorienting.
Sara was on her feet before her own male doppelganger. Donovan was making a hasty retreat and all Sara could do was stare at his back side for a moment. "There's ten thoughsand dollars it in for you if you turn on your boss and catch him." Sara tempted her opponent but he only shook his head. "Then it's your funeral."
He swung fast and wild at Sara and she ducked back then to the right dodging the tips of his curved claws that he hadn't quite learned how to use most effectively yet.
He made the mistake of fully extending his arm and Sara took advantage. Faster than the blink of an eye Sara had grabbed his wrist with one hand, The other struck his arm just below the elbow with an open palm and there was an audible snap. Little to no motion was wasted and the same hand that broke his arm, then moved fast as a whip across her opponent's face. The male feline managed to catch Sara across the stomach with a front kick, but his claws slid across her leather vest. aside from the wind getting knocked out of her, he had more damage. The problem was that he seemed to be adjusting to her mutation fast.
Pluto wasn't happy with the replies that Sara was getting and she couldn't blame him. She wasn't too thrilled either. Still the way that the thugs were behaving along side their boss was unnerving for Sara as well. Where the other clientele of hers had slowly made themselves scarce either by entering the underground of Sara's building, getting in their cars and driving away, or just plane spreading out into the tree line so as to give Sara and Pluto (Mostly Pluto) space. Lets face it. It's just not natural to want to stay that close to a mutant with that much obvious power and that much of an obvious chip on his shoulder. The feeling for Sara not only ticked her off more, but also had her instincts more on edge and the fur on the back of her neck and shoulders had started to bristle.
Sara had started moving to follow Donovan, thugs or no thugs, but she didn't stalk faster than Pluto. Pluto did the hole running at them thing, witch Sara had to give them credit. She might have crapped herself had she been in their shoes but alas. No pants were filled further. Not until Donovan looked over his shoulder and snapped his fingers.
Instead of hitting the little thug like a hacky sack that Pluto probably could have kept kicking, Pluto ran into a force as big, as red, and as strong as he was. The transformation was fast. The thug on Pluto's side hadn't had time to remove his button up shirt all the way. Instead he'd made it down his upper arms before they expanded and ripped through the seams. The thug's pants were the same story. Somewhere in the fast process the belt had snapped. It's buckle flew inanely through the wall of the warehouse and fell unnoticed against the ground on the other side, to who cares where. Pluto had the inursia on the thug and for a moment, they were still in motion ripping up cement and dirt at their feet like two raging bulls.
So Much for worrying about Elephant guns.
For a Second Sara was distracted. Open mouthed at what was going on. Her next thought was on Donovan, who was admiring his handiwork for the moment as well. It was her turn to charge. To try to knock him down and out before he could do more with his power. The problem is that she needed to get close. So she was in motion, low and faster than most ground animals could travel. She just had to reach him before he'd snapped his fingers again, witch if he'd kept paying attention to Pluto and the big red doppelganger for one more second, she would have had him.
Donovan's fingers snapped, and thug number 2 now stood in Sara's way. He was more muscular, he had a tail, and he was now feline like Sara. Grinning with a smile that looked wild, crazy, excited, and of course sharp.
Sara took to the air, covering the last fifteen feet between them. Her body twisted so that her feet aimed to land on his chest. Claws out. Sara knew that her own move was risky but she gave him limited obvious choices by doing it this close and this fast. He'd either have to take it, or let her past where she could get to Donovan. Sara was unfamiliar with his mutation, but maybe with him down, the two thugs would go back to normal. at least in theory...
Sara's opponent chose to take the hit. he'd fallen backwards with Sara's weight and claws. As they fell, Sara moved to rake the claws of her hand across his face. somewhere in the process her opponent's claws hand caught her wrist, and hooked into her right leg just above the knee. Rolling, he'd moved to toss her aside.
Sara was no stranger to death. She'd grown up with it's possibilities always close to her because of the way that she was. What she was. She'd seen labs, registration camps, and everyday violence based on race at it's best. That didn't mean that when Death happened that Sara was immune to shock.
One moment she was about to get a decent amount of pay for this coming month. The next she was watching one of her favorite clients die and staring down a fellow mutant who.... Sara hated thinking this.... but he looked odder than herself. It was a he.... Right? And what was it that he'd yelled just before he'd killed Jack? Sara wasn't paying attention to the words. She'd just flinched with her ears pressed against the back of her head when the words came. The shout had stopped her from actually doing anything useful as her head still swam in it. What was it that he'd actually said anyways? The warehouse was still echoing with it but it was also accompanied by a deep growl and Sara couldn't help but stare this mutant back in the eye. Otherwise the next set of sillyness might have been able to be talked out.
Sara chanced a glance down for a moment at Jack. The odd mutant stood between them. When the odd mutant had gone through his collar bone he'd ripped vocal cords and Jack could do nothing but grasp at the gaping hole, and gasp as he collapsed first to his knees. Then his side. Even if Sara could get to him, her body only healed herself. There was nothing that she could do for him.
With her jaw set tight, she turned her attention back to those clouded over looking eyes and bared teeth. Sara had already been pressed against the wall of the warehouse, and with the recent events, she was still in the same position. She didn't want to fight and she didn't know what was really going on, but the wall at her back didn't give her a lot of options.
"Why?" Sara reached behind herself to the wall. The tips of her fingers trying to find something to grasp onto, break it off, and use as a weapon. Her fingers found a loose bored and she twisted it free with a crunch.
Typing on my phone since the computer stopped working again. So I apologize for typos.
Good points calley. Though not to complicate things more but its too bad that a telekinetic moose couldn't be the reason or part of the reason for an apokoliptic fp. I've always loved the idea of us misunderstanding the first message.
When I first read the title, Grim Future, I was thinking grim Fairy tales and something done with that but this is just as good and I loved Future plot.
I will definitly throw Sara in the mix.... Pix might be the one to join those amazons though....
It would probably be too much for me to bring the time traveler Jack into the picture, if anyone is familiar with him. But I saw it mentioned that characters could be coming back to the present.... either by force, or by what ever, Jack could do that. I just worry that it would complicate things too much.
