The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

There were fewer and fewer places that Sara felt that she could go in the city, and still feel safe. So with a quick stop at her apartment, she’d picked up her dog, Roxy, and together, they had traveled to the mansion. The two of them had only been on mansion grounds for a short amount of time now and Sara couldn’t help but notice how things had changed since she had last visited.
For instance someone had put up a new green house. Then there were also new students, new powers, new smells. Sara and Roxy had circled the perimeter once and were working on circling the perimeter a second time, when Roxy found some of her favorite mansion residents to visit. A group of children had come up and greeted Sara but Roxy had received the warmer welcome. Before the German Shepard was Sara’s she belonged to Sam. She still had friends here and her presence seemed to take away some of the stress of the riots out of the younger teens. So Sara let them take Roxy for a walk and she continued her own exploration.
She wondered off sill she found a particularly inviting tree, and a person sitting in it. He was definitely yet another new person, because Sara didn’t recognize his smell. Normally she would have continued on, but her curiosity was getting the better of her. So carefully she hopped up on the thick branches of the tree, just on the other side of the mane trunk. Her weight rocked the tree only slightly but one could mistake it for a sudden gust of wind. She then raised herself just behind this other mutant and slightly higher, leaning over the side of a branch to see what they were drawing better. “Cool.”
I'm also always up for a thread, locke. I've got werecat, who has a habit of getting into trouble, or can be scene on the street eating chinese take out from time to time. I also bhave Pix who likes to make trouble and would most likely be trying to kill people in the riot plots right now.
His hand… The one with the bangles on it moved oh so close to Sara’s hand when the panther pushed his glasses higher on his nose. It might have been a foot away but what was a foot to a cat with astounding reflexes. She thought about grasping one side of the bangles but then that would… Do what exactly! Then they would still be two thieves competing for a set of bangles and a statue and her fingers, though she was sure she could grasp the rings easy enough, she was also sure that hooking her fingers around the rings, would also trap his hand inside. Making them both stuck…. No wonder a thief’s hands were cut off in the old days.
“Yes.” Sara said and her smirk slipped into a grin. The answer was simple enough. Children of the Blood wasn’t really a name, but a term that was used for mutants hundreds of years ago. Few still remembered it, and Sara was only lucky enough to learn of it when she went to Egypt. History should not be forgotten, but mutants had been hidden in the past, wolven in to legend. So why not leak a little bit of the truth of the old legends here and there and maybe keep them alive. Even if it was with a lowly cat thief like herself. “Children of the Blood is the translation of an old term meant for us.” And as Sara spoke, leaking just a little bit of history for this other feline mutant, she let the tips of her claws press ever so gently, through the fabric and fur on his shoulder just enough to irritate the skin of the other feline… for now.
For some reason, the more in appropriate hand gestures the bird boy gave Sara, the more she couldn't help but be amused. Pain was one thing, and Sara's body was at least healing so her own pain was ebbing away lighter and lighter. The hole above her gut was closing and she removed her inner arm now that it would no longer bleed freely.
"Safe flight." She mocked as they took off, and Sara was left alone in the street. Only the flying cow keeping her company with it's judgmental eyes. Her eyes looked between Evelyn and Talon's disappearing figures, and the cow, floating in the air, chewing it's cud. "What?"
”Sides if you want to keep score pretty sure I can call in a few from all the times you and I got into a scuffle. You remember the one with Luke?”
“Yeah. But I had all of those guys, with guns, worked up back then.” Sara said imitating Sam. “Plus I had Luke to keep alive.” Sara said more quietly to herself as she remembered the way her friend, Luke, had wanted to run straight for the men with the guns.
Sam addressed Evelyn for a moment, asking her to stay. Sara liked that idea better than just leaving her to fend for herself and even though she didn’t want to see Doc Prof, Sara felt her shoulders slide to be a little more at east. “It’s your choice.” Even if it only slightly urcked Sara.
Mean while Sara couldn’t help but listen to Sam as he informed the speedster about what was going to happen. Sara couldn’t help but pick up on the seriousness of his tone. When she’d expected him to joke back with her a little, she could tell that… something was different … Kind of like how he’d been so serious with Sara when he’d tracked her to one of her warehouses.
As Sam continued about the girl’s wasted talents maybe Sara was thinking of her own talents. What she could do to make a difference. She really could do a lot more in her life than provide other criminals with a way of stashing their things… people… The problem was that for Sara to fully admit this out loud… well… She wasn’t ready to admit this out loud.
She eased a few inches of the arrow that was in her out. Flinching as her body had started to close up around in already. “So you can shoot at me again?” Sara smirked through the flinching. “I don’t think so.” The bird boy went on about still having talons and Sara grinned, making a face that looked sinister. Really? She could take that as a challenge. “You’d have to get through mine first pigeon.” One final squishy plop and Sara pulled the arrow free. Her hand clutched the bloody shaft and her inner arm pressed against the open wound. “And I have healed from that.” Sara pushed herself up into a crouch so that she was at least on her feet, though she was still low. Ready to move to attack, or get out of the way of an attack. Though the middle taloned digit made Sara chuckle.
"Truce. I say what we do now is a truce. “
Sara raised an eye brow at Evelyn. A truce was closer to an apology but wasn’t one yet and Sara was taking a breath, steadier yet, about to say something when Evelyn continued.
” I'm sorry I ran my mouth off and I'm sorry I was ungrateful. It's been...It's been a long day..."
“I can accept that and… Me too.” Sara said. She straightened into a standing position. The quiver of arrows tangling by it’s broken leather strap. Her amber eyes studied the bird mutant for a moment trying to judge if he was still angry enough to try to shoot her again. She ended up tossing the quiver of arrows lightly to bird boy. “If you ever shoot me again, it is on pigeon boy.”
Sara hung there from the window very much like those famous posters with the kitten clinging to a branch. Hang in there. She braced her feet against the brick of the wall and with her clawed hands digging into the brick of the window ledge, Sara looked back over her shoulder at the ground. Sara pushed off and landed in a kneeling position next to Evelyn and Sam.
”Nice Sara!”
“My pleasure.” Sara said checking her arms and hands for odd injuries that she hadn’t caught before. The deep bite on her arm from one of the snake heads was closed and the electric burns were smoothed over at this point.
”Just one of those days?”
“Right.” Sara straightened herself so that she was in a standing position. Somewhere in the back ground Sparky and Bob had stopped sparking and moving. Sam checked Evelyn for any other injuries to her skin. Specifically her neck where the knife had been. Sara crossed her arms and leaned back against the wall. Her tail twitching as she surveyed the downed opponents. “So Slick. That’s three for me and two for you. Right. I mean it’s not like we’re keeping count or anything.”
”I should probably stop her from bleeding out…”
“Only if you want to make sure she lives.” Sara said smugly. “And yeah it worked, but I might smack you around for that stunt later.” Sara said. Her attention shifted from Sam and the downed mutants in the street, to Evelyn. “Doc Prof is probably busy as heck, but he could have you fixed up and healed quickly.”
Arrow number one? Well that wasn’t a trouble at all. Sara was ready for it and she was fast in her own right. Fast enough that when she saw the first arrow being drawn, then launched, she caught it in the mid air, inches from her stomach… The second arrow on the other hand…. OK. Sara probably celebrated a little too much about the first arrow.
The Second arrow found it’s mark and Sara’s breath hissed in through her throat. The shaft berried the point deep into her sternum and Sara found one leg, of the bird like mutant to clutch, and her claws slashed across Evelyn’s arm and shoulder.
Now normally, Sara had an advantage when falling through the air, grappling with another being. She had a tail that could act as a rutter when falling through the air. However one tail did not beet two very large wings no matter how much it spun and was used to throw it’s weight side to side… So…. Landing on top of bird boy was…. Not an option.
The dropped, and Sara made a split second decision. She did this. She wasn’t aiming to kill Evelyn and falling… Sara had no clue how resilient Evelyn was, however she did know how resilient her own body was. Her arm that had done the slashing grabbed Evelyn’s arm again, this time trying not to use her claws, and shoved her up, just as Talon’s wings opened again, so that she landed on the bottom.
The wind was knocked out of her, and between hitting the ground, and the arrow plowing deeper into her body, possibly through it. Her first instinct was to shove Evelyn off of her and bird boy decided that was a good time to attack her again. His claws came down across Sara’s face, and sank easily into her shoulder. For a moment, they were a tangle of fur and feathers, and Sara did her best to attack back. One fist flying up, aimed for bird boys jaw. The other clawed hand slashed across the leather strap of his quiver so it dropped on the ground next to her. Arrows and all.
Twisting, Sara lifted a clawed foot, and aimed to smash it into his chest, and shove him away. The fast movement ripping her open wound further open. Adrenalin, kept her pushing, but in reality, lets face it, IF she wasn’t a healing mutant, she’d be dead now. Once they were both off of her, Sara rolled to her side and curled her knees pulled close and she propped herself up on an elbow. The quiver held in one hand as she did not wish for bird boy to get a hold of it again very easily. Breathing wasn’t easy, especially when she pulled on the end of the arrow, wishing to remove it before her body healed it into her. Still, she couldn’t resist a smirk as bird boy reached for another arrow to fire at her, and she tapped her pinky claw against the side of the quiver she now held.
Sara tilted her head at the flying mutant for a moment as he attempted to define and use the exact terminology that Sara was about to do. “Glomp, I thing Is more of a hug.” Sara said with a shrug. “I think….” She could have sworn that she had seen Johnny type the turm into his phone when he was texting someone he liked.
As the flying mutant tried to get distance and height away from Sara, Sara tracked his progress. She stood with a flick of her tail and strolled across the top bar of the fire escape looking almost as if she was just strolling on the side walk. Her balance only wavering slightly here and there, and easily corrected with a flick of her tail.
Everything was starting to look much happier. Even if Talon was tracking Sara with that darn bow and arrow. Then Evelyn had to go and tell her not only that she was a cat again, but also that she was having a tantrum. A tantrum. Oh this wasn’t a tantrum. A tantrum was doing something very stupid and yelling and well… now she was going to do just that.
With a sharp snarl, Sara took a few running steps to catch up to Talon and his so called dangling little platinum haired fish. At the closest edge, Sara’s knees bent low, Her feet slid across the metal bars till her hand grabbed a hold of it, and she kicked off. Launching herself straight for Talon’s legs. Arrow or no arrow, she’d be determined to teach Blondie a lesson.
Sam poked his head out only enough for Sara to see and her eyes narrowed on his, then back on the speedster. Good. Sam was alive. Sara was going to have a chance to kill him later over this. “That’s right. You and me.” Sara taunted as she stalled some more. Her tail twitching.
The speedster just shook her head. Sara might have had her claws near the electric mutant’s neck to hold them, but her mind was starting to change and Sara could sense it. It seemed that she wasn’t the only one to sense the change in the speedster mutant’s mind either because the electric mutant tightened his grip on Sara’s arm, trying to pull her claws away from his throat. “Bob. Just waist the both of them. If Jerome survives, cool.”
Bob strolled closer to Sara, as it seemed that was the big red ape like mutant’s name. Bob raised a hand intending to smash Sara and her hostage the way he had smashed Sam, And that’s when Sam struck. The speedster screamed out in pain, and Sara was somewhat satisfied to see her behind Bob, fall clutching at her leg. “Being normal sucks. Huh.” Sara muttered and she turned her attention on Bob.
She pulled back on the electric mutant. “Odds are low for you. You know that right Red?” Sara said. But he didn’t really seem to get the warning though. He swung one more time at Sara and her hostage, and this time, instead of dodging back, she charged back at the mutant. Ducking under the arm and shoving sparky against him. He howled in pain as it seemed that the snakes had started to over load with withheld electricity. Releasing it all when they came in contact with Bob.
Bob went dowwwwn!...
Ok. Now to get out of here before any moisture found it’s way to Sara’s feet and carried any electricity with it. She jumped straight up, grabbing a hold of a window sill and dangling there unceremoniously.
Note to self. Sara thought to herself as she watched the bird like mutant snatch the arrow that she had thrown at him, out of the air, and reloaded it back at her. She glared out from her window as she turned her shoulder sideways and narrowly avoided being hit again with the arrow. Next time she got one, she’d hold onto it and be sure to deliver it herself.
The first arrow was followed by others and when Sara hopped out of the window, she had to be careful to watch for when he was pulling the next on, then drop down so that she was crouching below the window where she’d been hiding. Mean while Evelyn had finally found the part of her voice that wasn’t meant for screaming.
"Ok, I get it! You're touchy about the whole physical mutant thing but you really don't have to kill me over it!”
Kill her? Sara wasn’t meaning to kill her. Maim maybe. She still felt angry until the next part of what Evelyn had to say came out. She had just hopped up to perch and balance on the fire escape’s railing, ready to pounce on the both of them when….
Or is it Sam? Because I swear I don't even like him, he's kind of a jerk, and if you have a crush on him I won't go near. Paws off!"
What? Sara and Sam? Sara laughed so hard that she nearly fell off of the ledge. If bird boy was aiming an arrow at Sara he’d have a high chance at hitting her, because of her laughter. Good thing the wound on her leg was nearly healed. Another moment, and it would be fully closed and the muscle tissue would be fully rebuilt. “Sam and I have more of an big sister little brother relationship. Not…. Not that.”
One arrow after another followed Sara’s progress up the latter. One lodged it’s self into the wooden planter nearly all of the way through. The next in the brick and the brick again and again. He was a terrible aim but Sara suspected it would be better if he didn’t have a screaming Evelyn to hang onto who wasn’t managing to make things ‘balanced’ for him.
Maybe if Evelyn hadn’t of called her a house cat and Maybe if this bird brain would stop shooting arrows at her, she would have given up the chase, thrown her hands in the air, and given up. Did Evelyn really deserve all that for just calling Sara a house cat?... Oh yeah…. She really did call SARA and HOUSECAT! Yup. Backing down wasn’t going to cross Sara’s mind for at least another minute or two. She was still just a little upset.
Then one of the mutant pigeon’s arrows hit Sara in the upper leg and she fell against the metal grates of the fire escape steps. Getting hit by an arrow was different from getting hit with the bullet from a gun. Sara could definitely say that she liked it a lot worst as she stumbled up the metal steps for a flight. One hand pressed down against the open wound. An arrow definitely hurt more, or longer or…. Sara couldn’t really tell. Unlike the bullet of a gun, the shaft was still there, catching on metal bars, and continuing to rip the wound even while Sara’s mutation did it’s best to close. The shaft, and it’s tip would have to go, and for a moment, Sara ducked inside the broken edges of a window. Just inside an abandoned apartment.
She’d started healing the arrow inside her leg already again, when her left hand gripped the arrow’s shaft, and she pulled it straight out. Cursing and ginding her teeth because of the sharp pain. A second later she reappeared in the window. Sara chucked the arrow, that flipped tip over shaft and over again and again, at Talon’s head. “You big flying chicken!”
I would like to, again, nominate two characters. Evelyn is my first choice because she has been a lot of fun these past few weeks. Mati really has a hold on her personality and still manages to manipulate her to do things that can bring us to a story line, or through it. His writing has also greatly improved.
My next nomination is Cold Steal. Cold Steal not only has build up a story line that has involved quite a few other characters and gotten them posting in this story line.
Sara was surprised at herself for her own actions. But she did have to hand it to Blondie. Even though she had a cat with a great deal of strength holding her against the wall, she’d seemed to have enough too.
"I think it's easy because you look like a mutant all the time. I'm getting attacked by BOTH sides! And I didn't ask Sam or you to come save me you overgrown house cat!"
House cat. HOUSE CAT!? Sara’s eyes dilated and her nostrils flared. One of her hands that had been holding onto Evelyn’s shirt found it’s self on Evelyn’s neck faster than a blink of an eye and Sara began go choke her. “If I’m a house cat, then you’re a bird braiii…” Sara was cut off as an arrow suddenly stuck in the wall next to the two of them. Oh this just kept getting better and better.
Her eyes focused on the arrow for a moment. It’s longer body wavering slightly, stuck in the building’s side. Her eyes then traveled up to the mutant that the arrow had come from.
"That will be quite enough of that,"
“Ok. I stand corrected. He’s the bird brain. You’re the mouse.” Sara said pulling Evelyn back towards her by her neck and the collar of her shirt.
"Madam, I suggest you release the woman now or you will find that my next arrow will not miss its mark between your shoulder blades,"
“Yeah. Have fun with that thought.[/I”] She couldn’t say for sure what had gotten into her. She was just reacting to…. Ok maybe she could say so…. She was called a house cat. A HOUSE CAT!!!.
Sara pulled backwards quick enough that she hoped that the flying mutant would have trouble tracking her with the arrow. With a turn to put some power into her own movement, she through Evelyn at the flying mutant above them. Then moved to get closer to him by scaling a broken fire escape, lickity split. Her intentions were to get high enough to snatch him out of the air.
