The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Well, you charmed me." She gave a shrug and a grin as she replied to his question as to whether she was mistaken or not. "Anyone who can sit wit' a nervous woman and make them less nervous is doing somet'ing right. Also, you are t'e only Scotsman I know, Artair. I know plenty of English, but only you are from Scotland." She found herself not removing her hand from his grip, the exchange was rather nice and comfortable. "As for t'e rest... Most of it is to keep my mind occupied so I do not t'ink of bad t'ings... T'ough I realize more and more lately t'at maybe I need to let ot'er people do some of the work."
Her eyes met his again and he would be able to see them crinkle at the corners. And then she would give him that smile again... Not the grin, the smile... The one that he seemed so taken with. Not that it was her intention to charm him with said action, it was just that she felt the need to smile. After all, she was where she wanted to be at that moment. Then he asked if she was ready, and she nodded, letting him pay he cabby and then help her out of the car. Actually, she really liked that he was being a gentleman in that aspect. She still ignored the rude driver.
"I am excited to try t'is food you say is good." She said once out on the pavement of the sidewalk. She glanced over to the entry of the place they were going to eat at and a distant memory tugged, but it was only that. Was this place new and had been remodeled from a place she had once performed or had she passed it by? She wasn't sure but it gave way to a slight pucker in her forehead that lasted maybe a few moments.
She said over the bushes, "You are pissing me off. First you get a song stuck in my head and now you are making me want to yell at you." She parted the bushes enough to glare through at him. "Seriously, suck it up. T'e only person you have to worry about is yourself. Look around you, we all felt like you at one point in our lives. I have seen plenty of deat' in my life just for me being who I was. Trust me when I tell you t'ings happen t'at nobody can control, and people get hurt for it... I never directly kill anyone, but I have hurt many people... Do you honestly t'ink it is a choice of mine to use my powers for bad? Hell no. Sometimes it is beyond choices."
And then she shut the window she had made in the plants.
"Yeah, I understand," she said about the animal thing. "You are better at t'is gifted t'ing t'an I was at your age. Trust me." She smiled and nudged him back, only to fight a grimace. And then he asked if she was okay. Damn, but he noticed the one time she didn't think she wanted him to, for she hadn't wanted him to worry about her.
"I am okay... Just cramping a little. It will go away." And it was true, it would go away.
"Yeah, take out is better. I do not know how I feel about cheese... I hear it is tasty, t'ough and wish I could eat some. I just do not wish to feel like turd after... And I do not t'ink you would wish to be around me when the ot'er unpleasant t'ings happen." She was comfortable enough to have went there... Yep... He was her bestie for life if a vague reference to gas happens.
"Sometimes it is only way... To get crowd to die down is to give what they pay for. Diffuse t'e situation before it gets bad." She shrugged a little. She was just speaking from experience. Having dealt with tough crowds on the one tour she made, she saw her fair share of the bull crap people did when they thought they were being ripped off. It was just a fact of life in show business that booze, hot tempers, and crappy music did not mix.
The crowd was seemingly fine by that point, no more cursing, throwing bottles, or otherwise. This did not take away from her irritation at even being in the club. She needed to rearrange her life so she had time to enjoy it, this working all the time was starting to simply tire her out. It's not like she needed the money. She was not filthy rich, but she was definitely not broke. Hell, her grocery bill hardly cost anything, she grew most of her food.
"I teach Biology and Botany at Mansion," she replied to the bug woman. "I have been t'ere for some time." She started guzzling the water again... Ahh, precious water. How was she not needing to go to the restroom yet?
"You are sweet to worry about me, Derek. I do not know what it is you like about me so much, but I appreciate t'at you do and t'at you wish to see me safe." She smiled at him, and then took a few deep breaths because she seemed to cramp every time she exerted herself... Both times it happened had one thing in common... Her powers. Perhaps she had to fins a way to not use them to do much. But he would probably see the expression on her face turn pained and go neutral real fast in hopes he didn't catch it.
"Umm, never had pizza before, it has cheese on it. You can have pizza, I will go for Chinese, how about t'at?" She asked, trying to speak normal.

"Artair... I am in no rush for anyt'ing. T'is dating t'ing is new to me. I won't lie and say I am not deeply attracted to you. I actually tried not to be but sometimes it just happens. But for me, I t'ink a date is a good baby step... If somet'ing happens, great! I just... Want to feel like I am wort' t'e effort. I want to know what it's like to live, you know?" She looked down at her hand that his hand was over, and she turned her palm up so she could give his hand a squeeze.
"I like you because you respect me. And you're pretty good looking... and funny... And charming as hell. I will still like you if you look at me and say t'ere can't be anyt'ing." And why was it so blasted easy to tell him this stuff when it felt like pulling teeth with Jupiter? Was it because she was older? She didn't know, but he was just... so personable?
In other words, she let him know that there was not going to be false hope because she was of the same mind set as he was about the whole thing, there was nothing to be worried about. He was doing it the right way! He was being truthful and upfront with her, which was nice after her humiliation with Geo. He wasn't kissing her and then telling her no, it wasn't happening. And he wasn't chasing after her like most guys... She kinda chased him a little. And it wasn't even like she was trying to go for more than friendship to begin with, it was just... Well... There was something about him that had her wanting to know more about him and maybe let him close if he was of the same mind, that was all.
The cab eventually pulled to a stop at the destination, and she would let Artair pay this time, because he would probably want to anyways... He had tried when they were not on a date, when they had first met. It was funny how a burn caused this date to eventually happen... A burn he still took blame for even though it wasn't his fault. A burn he had gingerly cared for and done his best not to let it hurt any more than it did; the very reason there was an attraction on her part. She pondered this over the course of a few minutes, but the silence from her was not an awkward one, just a thoughtful one.
"I wish I didn't have to, but t'ere will be times when I do, Derek. I have to defend myself if t'e need arises, and I was done taking it a long time ago." And she meant it. The last time couldn't be helped because she had been drugged, but she was not one to let someone beat on her or try and experiment anymore. She had gotten tired fast of feeling helpless.
"I hope she likes me." she said, honestly, "I am honestly more awkward t'an t'is around strangers, but I am sure you know why. We can go eat somet'ing after, I have a feeling I will be hungry."
"I suppose I will have to keep from doing t'at a lot," she confessed sheepishly, but that would pose a problem if she ever needed to use the power for her own self preservation. She had not used the power much, if at all, during her pregnancy for Delilah, so her knowledge on what was going to happen during this one was limited.
She moved over to the comfortable looking bench that was meant for sitting down to put shoes on, or stockings. "Anyway, perhaps we do spa day and you invite your friend? Perhaps I can help her too." Yup, it was clear it made her happy to help people.

Xavia continued to expertly not notice, aka, ignore the dude. She was used to stares and even being obsessed over. He didn't bother her. Her eyes were, of course, only on Artair, and she was being attentive to his reply to her question. "I had a very good day... I did some soul searching last night and made peace wit' many t'ings... Today is... lighter." She was speaking softly but candidly.
"It is funny how t'e past has a way of holding on for a long time until you decide to break t'e chain yourself. If you hadn't come up to me in restaurant, Artair, I would never have taken time to t'ink about what held me back. Do you know, it was like taking fresh air in? If for some reason, you don't want to go beyond tonight, I... I at least want you to know t'at you aren't getting rid of me at least as a friend."
She actually gave a little bit of a laugh... It was something light but throaty, and not at all annoying. "I know it is much to say right away, but I wanted to be honest." With that, she hugged his arm some and then let go, assuming he let her hug the arm.
"Pfft, fertilizer... Who needs t'at when I can grow my flowers instantly? Just saying." And since he asked, she demonstrated... A vine of wild roses crept up her left arm. Blooms opened up and filled the air with the same exact scent that she carried all the time. She shook her arm and it was gone, withered away. And then the scent around her changed, he would get a whiff of lilac. She then concentrated and the same arm took on bark and sprouted maple leaves... "I can also manipulate existing plants and grow directly from seed."
She nodded and then was back to normal... But it had cost her. She was fatigued a lot easier, and knew it was because of the baby.
She nodded her understanding when he explained he was eating the food because he actually wanted to. And then she took his hand when he offered his to her. After they were in the cab, she said, "I have been looking forward to today." And it was true. It was something she had not done, for one thing, and for another, it was finally a chance to move on after so long. She waited until he was settled, and reached over to touch his arm in an easy manner, "I look forward to trying t'is food you speak of, too. It sounds like it will be fun."
And then her hand moved to her lap. As they rolled out, she did not put her attention elsewhere for very long. Her eyes shifted from the window back to him, and not in that awkward stare kind of way. If he looked, he would see curiosity... And he would probably also notice that she had an interesting color of brown eyes... Sort of like sandy colored caramel, with a darker brown ring outside and dark brown flecks within. "How was your day today?"
That smell of roses couldn't be helped, obviously, she could only control what the smell was, not how potent. She did not notice that that cab driver was checking her out through the rear view mirror. The old man looked like he was interested in scoring her number, but at least he was polite enough to keep silent about that, even if he kept casting kind of creepy looks her way, and kind of envious looks his way.
"Never met her," she said, pulling out a really pretty number that would look fabulous on a blonde, but not a redhead with her coloring. She wrinkled her nose, the color was harsh against the color of her skin.
"Who is she and what is she like?" she asked curiously as she looked to Derek, who she was now grinning at because he was wide eyed at her huge wardrobe. She had told him. And now he was talking about not doing something for Christmas. "Obviously, I do not need clot'es."
Sighing at the way the lion person seemed to keep downing himself, she laid into him. "Stop. Seriously. You are not some scary monster. You aren't..." and then she blurted the next part out without meaning to... "If a man like you, meaning t'e one I held close to my heart for a long time and had a baby wit', who looks pretty close to what YOU look like, can find acceptance... Knowing he is dangerous, and t'at his lover can be dangerous too... Literally, I can kill someone if I was inclined to do so... T'en you can do t'e same." She dropped the watch in her pocket and produced deadly nightshade within a moment, "Just two of t'ese berries can kill someone... I almost kill before wit' t'is. But it is all about learning to control what you can do wit' your body." She shook her hand and the plant withered away.
"I see much worse in last decade, I hardly doubt you will ever frighten me t'e way t'at a scientist does, injecting crap into my veins." And she jerked her hand to part the bushes, stepping through, but pausing to say, "Believe it or not, we are all scared of what we can do and we all do stupid t'ings... But one t'ing we all learn to do, and you will, is to learn how to accept what we are. Stop wit' t'e 'I am a monster' mentality. You aren't." With that, she was on the other side of the bushes and they both would hear her start to sing in that pretty voice, the song that he had been singing... Because he got it stuck in her head.
"I did it because I wanted to. You do enough for me already, you do not need to watch my kid. I will not, however, stop you from coming over to spend time wit' her if you wish to. Momma too." And then she grinned. "And no, my daughter already got some coach purses just to play wit'... But to be fair, t'ey were already broken." She had already set aside a bunch of clothes... APPROPRIATE clothes for teenage girls, not the almost need pasty type stuff. "Trust me, I have a very big closet."
And she would finish off her sandwich, and wait for him to finish his sandwich, before eagerly leading him toward the top floor of the house... There was one room set up just as a closet... And five or six large racks of clothing... Most with tags still on them... And shoes... Shoes galore. She liked shoes. There were purses, belts, designer sunglasses, hair stuff, stockings, etc. There were even some costumes meant for the tour. She pulled out a particularly steamy piece with a lifted brow, "I would not wear t'is... ever."
When a bottle came crashing just half a foot from her arm, she got up and cursed, "T'e hell?" She gestured with one finger and then went up to the stubborn singer on stage, taking the microphone from his hand, and the band stopped playing. She then spoke into the microphone, "Whoever t'rew t'e bottle at t'e bar came close to hitting me... Over some music. I will sing one more song if you all stop being nasty." Someone in the crowd cheered for her, others looked sheepish.
The crowd stopped throwing stuff, settled down, just as the manager was about to call the police. He mouthed a thank you to her, she nodded, and then sat down at the band's keyboard after they left the stage. "I know t'ey weren't what you t'ought of as conventional band, but t'ey had balls coming on stage in front of you lot. Be a sport and give t'em a hand for trying." She seemed to get the crowd to calm down and even applaud the awful band. Professionalism at it's best, yo.
Once the crowd was silenced and the band was completely gone, she started playing the tune for a new song she had never even performed yet. The tune was kind of heavy hitting, kind of haunting... And so were the words. "It's been a long time since I saw your face... And when I think of it, it is blurred in my mind... Like some kind of image fading away with the sun. I never thought that I would miss you so hard... I miss your touch, the way your breath was on my skin... If this is some game we played between us, then I think you have won... And this game of hearts is never really something to be fun... I wish you had stayed. Why did you go away? I don't sleep, and I can't breathe, without you laying next to me, but your gone... And I am left the broken hearted one."
She really got into the song, as if she meant every single word... Making the crowd forget they were pissed off about how horrible the last band was. The song lasted a good eight or ten minutes and then she announced the third band, then headed off stage to return to her seat. She raised her hand for more water, and looked at the insect lady with a tired expression, "You work at mansiom, you say?"
