The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam turned to give her a little grin and it pricked at her cheeks. Why did all of the cute ones have to be taken? She flexed her cheek bones slightly to stop from smiling too wide, but there was a little playful smirk in the corner of her lips. "Guess I'll have to work on that some. Soon you won't even be able to tell when I'm around, just need some practice," she teased, hoping she could actually get it down pat quickly. It would probably be easier to hide from Sam than from Luke, but she wanted to be able to hide from both. Her own true success story. Sneaking up on the boys.
Luke suggested a good idea, staying in a phased state. She would definitely need to work on that some more, but maybe that would turn off her heat signature as well, or maybe not... Well, she wasn't a doctor, she had no idea how to control her body parts with her power to keep her completely - the battle had begun. The quickness of it nearly jolted her eyes out of their sockets. The three weather mutants approached. Two male, one female. Obvious attack: Fade goes for the female. The woman was in the back, relying on her powers rather than force. She would make a good enough target.
"Already on it," she nodded, cracking her knuckles. She knew what to do. Water on the ground usually meant that she could be tracked with puddle tracks, every where she walked, there would be tiny pitter patters from her feet. Luke took off towards the group and Fade took a running start towards the roof edge. When she leapt off, she was not aiming straight ahead. In fact, she dropped a level. Phasing through the wall, she landed on the level directly underneath the roof. She could hear the sounds of running and the sounds of heavy rain on the roof above, but she kept moving.
Running quickly, she ran to the other side of the dimly lit hall. The lights inside were flickering on and off, most likely results from the lightening mutant. When she reached the other wall, she turned invisible and threw her hand out behind her before phasing through the wall. The claws on her outstretched hand caught the wall and kept her from falling out of the building. Swinging from the redirected motion energy, she caught the wall with her other hand and steadied herself. The rain pelted her hard, but she needed to be solid to climb.
When she reached the top, she found herself nearly thirty feet behind the rain mutant. Jolts of lightening were striking everywhere, but most were focused ahead to the visible attack. Taking a deep breath, Fade pulled herself up to her feet, but got down on her hands and feet, spreading her body like a beetle scuttering across the floor. She began to creap around, using the distribution of her body weight to cover any splashes in the puddles she stepped in. A rogue lightening bolt from the mutant ahead backfired, headed directly for Fade, but she focused her body on phasing and allowed it to only slightly tickle through her body.
When the coast was clear, she moved forward again, ready to attack. When she was only two or so feet away from the rain mutant, she jumped to her feet. The sound from the splash caused the woman at the back to turn around quickly, but Fade had anticipated her to turn around, in fact, she was hoping the rain girl would fall for it. Balling up her fist, Fade threw the punch into the girl's stomach. Since she was never too great with force or strength, she phased her hand through the woman and pulled back, just trying to slow her down instead of cause too much harm. The girl let out a loud yet girlish scream and the rain turned into hail.
Sam followed her, a bit more like an actual human crowd diving instead of smoke simply slipping around and passing through mutants, still, she tried to keep the pace low enough for him. When they had made it out alive, he kept his hand in her's, which she sort of forgot about. The feeling of someone's hand in her's calmed her down enough to forget what kind of signals it sent out. So kids talked, that was normal, but what was a little gossip amongst the students? It certainly couldn't do that much harm. If anything, it would have to be someone older who knew the in's and out's of Sam and enough about Fade. Someone like...Shin.
She watched the well dressed triangle mutant approach with someone she had never met, not even really heard anything about. He smiled and said hello. The girl with him just smiled. "Hey there, Shin," she nodded. Sam beat her to the initial name introduction by addressing the other woman as 'Kealey'. Cute name. A quick little reminder that she was holding hands with Sam came in the form of a small hand squeeze. Sam released and yelled at some kids who were borderlining innappropriate.
Fade brought her now free hand to grab a plastic glass. While her claws were visible, they did not hinder her from pouring the glass of punch, they simply phased through everything they would usually block her from grabbing. They were like ghost claws. Smiling, she set the glass down momentarily and grabbed the next one to fill it up. When she had filled up four glasses, she took one in her left hand and offered it to Sam. With her right hand, she grabbed both glasses, holding them steadily out to Shin and Kealey.
"It's funny to realize we're not that much older than them, but quite different," she smiled, looking at the kids who just got in trouble. Maybe two years ago, she would have been trying to cause some sort of trouble on the dance floor, maybe invisibly stealing dates when they let go of their girlfriends for a spin. Time with the X-Men had definitely taught her to be more mature, even if she was not at the level where she could be called 'completely mature' just yet.
When Luke had finished explaining everything, Fade heard something approaching. At first, it was slow and she turned to face whatever was coming, but she recognized it rather quickly. What woman could forget the face of that ice manipulator? She had forgotten that she was invisible, but she thought he could sense her due to her body terminature. Still, she stayed invisible as he came closer, but it was apparrent where his focus was, directly on Luke. From what she could remember before Luke left, he was usually with Raina or Sam, so it seemed that this friendship was pretty strong.
So strong that it took a good tackle to convey how much Sam missed Luke. She watched the two fly out of eye level and onto the ground and listened passively to their catch up talks. It was best not to interrupt two best friends sharing their frustrations on how they haven't seen each other in a while. Sam faced her, yup, he could see her somehow. She really needed to have training sessions with each of them so she could work on being invisible to all of the senses. She was so close to it, even practiced with Chris in the river, water was never her forte but she was getting better at it. She just needed more practice.
Smiling, she turned visible. "What's the point of being invisible when most mutants have other senses to detect me?" she sort of frowned and shrugged. With more training, she could be completely invisible, to every single sense, on a human, mutant, or machine. Luke mentioned that she was asked to join and it sounded even more fun now that Sam was involved. Two macho men and one skittery little stealthy woman against some crazy weather mutants in a dreary city. It seemed like she either needed to work on her stealth some in this rain or she needed to work on her offense, it was a tough decision.
"Game plan wise, uh, weather is a little tricky with my power. I can stay invisible but the rain can outline me. Then I can stay in a phased state, but that's a little tricky too. Not to mention lightening and wind. I can try to sneak up on them or at least find their location without being detected but I don't think I can keep it up for too long, in the actual battle, I'll probably need to just use phasing and my talons, never mind the invisibility," she sighed. It seemed like she would be working on both.
Dinosaurs?! Fade attempted to keep the admiring sparkle in her eyes to a minimum, but that was on her top list of cool powers. Fade's power had always been defensive, but a dinosaur morpher could be offensive and defensive. From watching Land Before Time and Jurassic Park, she knew there were quite a lot of dinosaurs. There were those tiny little ones that were about the size of a squirrel, then there were those giant T-Rexes. There were offensive and defensive dinosaurs, big and small, swimmers and flyers, the land ones, ones with long necks and some with spike tails. The list was limitless.
"Wow, that's one hell of a power," she smiled. If only her power could be so offensive and defensive bound. Still, she enjoyed her power. "Though I do share these with ya," she said, putting down her fork and showing Amber her talons. Since they needed to be strong enough for her to climb with, they were a little big and dark and their curled. Everyone said they bore the closest significance to raptor talons, which was her biggest offense. Typically, since she used to only use them to climb walls, they would remain in a phased state until she needed them. It helped her out a lot, actually. If you can imagine balling a fist with those sharp talons on your fingertips? Without her phasing power, she could hurt herself everytime she put her hair up in a pony tail.
She clicked them on the table to produce that little rattling noise and then phased them through. "Since I evolved, I've had these raptor talons and they've always been able to phase, it helps me climb walls and ceilings. It wasn't until maybe two years ago when I learned how to expand that phasing to the rest of my body," she said, pulling them out of the table and grabbing her spoon. While she lived on the streets, she kept them invisible to hide them from everyone who suspected she would do something bad if she were a mutant. Well, she would still steal from them ,but it made her more approachable if she did not have giant talons on her hands.
The song was drawing to an end and what better way for Sam to mess with Fade lack of dancing skills but to spin her again? This time though, she was dangerously close to nailing it. When the song ended and those moments of silence followed to give the mutants time to thank their dancing partners or share in a cute little kiss, Sam raised her hand and kissed the back of it. Her cheeks began to rage a bright red and unknowingly, she turned invisible. At times, her body acted on its own based off her subconsious uncertainties, like when she feels like she's being watched, or going to get attacked, or when blushing is just not enough to convey the emotions her body just twisted into. Looking at his now empty hand, she realized what she had done and turned visible again, this time with her hand on her chest in a sort of 'thanks for taking my breath away' motion.
He thanked her for the dance and complimented her dancing. Sure, everyone could dance, but could they dance well? She doubted she was that good. It was, in fact, her first dance, well, her first slow dance. He asked if she wanted any punch, yes, that seemed like a good idea at the moment since her face probably matched the color of the liquid. When the pause between songs ended, however, the next song brought back so many memories. I like big butts... She paused to laugh at the music choice and remembered how she used to dance to it using a little radio in the abandoned warehouse near the New Jersey state line. The laughter brought her a bit back to her senses and eased her cheeks out of blushing, but ever so slowly.
On the walk to the punch bowl, she saw a few kids get out to dance to it and a few of the older mutants weave their way through the crowd to sit this one out. Amongst them was Shin, who was with some girl Fade did not recognize, but since it seemed like they were going for the punch bowl, they would meet, even if it were just a few passing words. The kids around started to contract and the holes to escape the dance floor were thinning. "Yeah, I'd love to, we just have to get out of this mob first," she smiled, taking the lead.
Grabbing Sam's hand, she darted her way through the crowd. Some of the kids recognized the two as one professor and one of the rule regulators and removed themselves from their path. Others were a little tougher to get around and warranted a simple "excuse me," for them to move. When they had finally made it back, she looked back to make sure it was Sam she was grabbing the hand of. After all that wiggling through the crowd, she would not have been surprised if during the escape, the hand she was pulling was switched to that of a random students. Yet she could tell by the cool feeling the entire walk through that it was Sam and she smiled.
What was the difference? Brown Maple Syrup was darker? She set down the pancakes and Fade pulled out a plate and took two from the first batch. Setting them on top of each other, she found herself at the decision of brown maple or just maple? Finally, she grabbed the maple syrup and put it next to her plate. Scooping a little butter on her knife, she layered it on top of her pancake and then poured on the syrup. It was all looking so delicious and she took a bite before scouring the rest of what she could top it with.
Amber spoke up, still with the studder, but Fade was getting used to it by now. Orphanages were always depressing and so were foster parents, especially for a mutant. The mutant population seemed to be the highest amount of foster and orphaned children. Though Fade's parents did not give her up like some other children who went into foster care like herself. The thought had always been on Fade's mind: what would her parents have said if they lived to see her turn into a mutant? The little that she could remember about her parents never allowed her to even come up with a scenario. She hoped they would have accepted her.
"It's good you were adopted," she smiled, focusing on the positive. Her days of being a pessimist were soon to end. Amber asked about her mutation, a bit timidly, but Fade did not mind much. "Stealth, really. I mean, invisibility and phasing. My power is really aimed towards defense than anything else," she shrugged. Sure, she wished she could be a bit more offensive and sometimes, her powers could do that, but only with her claws. Her power was well directed towards the perfect opportunity to run away if need be. "What about you?" she asked in turn. It had to be something with heat since she was wearing that full ensemble, but there could be different reasons.
Luke happened to be one of the few that Fade could not sneak up on. That reminded her, she was looking to develop her invisibility to extend even to sonar, maybe he could help her work on that. She still needed to work on mechanics and such, but with this phasing, she was getting much better at staying undetected. To everyone except Luke. "It has been a long time, it's good to see you back though," she smiled. After her disappearance from the Mansion, she learned not to ask people why they left, there were just some things people needed to deal with away from the Mansion and it was none of her business. She was just happy he returned home safe.
He mentioned that Sam would be joining. Well, then there is going to be some sort of fighting, she mentally bubbled with excitement. Hopefully, not against each other, she was not sure how she'd fair against the two male X-Men, but against some programs in the Danger Room, this would be quite fun. "Oh he is? I would love to stay," she said, at an undereducated loss for the definition of 'festivities'. If it meant kicking some a**, then it was alright in her book. The wind was blowing hard and for a young woman, it was a little too hard. Her hair whipped around and she could feel her feet wanting to take a step back to steady herself. In order to keep herself standing upright, she phased her body, allowing the wind to simply pass through it, it would be hard to keep this up though if they started moving, she had to be solid for some things.
Luke announced Sam's arrival and Fade turned her attention to the Danger Room doors. Of course Luke would have noticed a change like that so quickly, she could not even imagine how more advanced his other senses were. After filling her in on the mutants they would be facing, Fade groaned. Great! Just great! Wind was complicated since she could not see it. Of course, she could phase her body through big gusts, but it would require a hit first since she cannot see the wind coming at her. Then there was rain, a real damper ((hehehehe)) to her invisibility. Again, she would have to work some on phasing through the rain, but puddles always gave her away. And then there was lightening, another complicated power. She could phase through a giant bolt of lightening, but little tiny ones attacking from all sides were harder to keep up with. A smirk quickly took the place of her slightly disappointed lips. At least she could work on developing her powers instead of just using them, it was the perfect simulation. "I think it will be fun, nice choice in the program," she said, concluding that she would be exhausted after this.
He told her to relax and keep up, it was sort of a contradiction. If she relaxed, she would end up going even slower which would make it the opposit of keeping up. Still, she relaxed a little, which made her arm droop a slight bit. While it was still draped around his shoulder, she figured it best if she were to relax even more and move her arm down to his back. It was a little far of a reach and she took a step closer to close up the space. It was closer than she usually was to anyone, she enjoyed her own personal bubble, however, this did not bother her too terribly much.
He talked a little about himself, saying he grew up at an orphanage. Well well well, for some odd reason, Fade thought Sam came from a wealthy, proper familly, but she should not be so quick to judge others. Where ever Sam came from, he turned out to be quite the gentleman now. Not to mention how good of a dancer he was. She saw his eye shift to two other dancers, she looked over in curiousity and saw two other X-Men, Jewel and Silver Streak. They made such a cute couple and she just smiled and turned back to Sam, whose eye met back at her again.
As she was getting used to the steps, he let go with one hand and twirled her around. Thank goodness she was wearing flats, if she were wearing heels, she would have definitely fallen. It took her a second to regain the steps and she focused a bit on her feet. When she finally caught up, she looked back at Sam, who was significantly closer now. Every part of her blushed cheeks urged her to phase through so he was not so close, she could hear his breathing and feel the heat of his breath through her hair. Still, she did not phase through, she remained in a solid state. "Only because you are such a great teacher," she smiled, gently rubbing her fingers together instead of biting her lip, just something to make her blush go away, it was not working too well. She placed her entire trust in the hands of the Danger Room and the dimmed lights.
Amber put in the blueberries and the smell from the batter hitting the hot surface. As it gently sizzled and cooked, Fade pushed her cereal even further from her face, her mind was directed to the pancakes along with her appetite. Her companion then asked how long Fade had been at the Mansion, that was always quite the complicated question. It was like asking a nomad where they were from. While Fade found her home at the Mansion, in her younger years, she could not settle down and it took her a while to realize that the Mansion was her home and there was no place like it.
"I came here maybe four and a half years ago, looking for a home. I stayed for quite a while, even fellow mutant to start a relationship with. After a while, he disappeared and I left the Mansion searching for him. I returned a while later for a bit and left again, this time simply because I wanted to continue my search. I returned a few months back and have been here ever since. This time, I will not leave, the Mansion is my home," she smiled. Her mind wandered back to Raph, to those good old days, but those days were over and her days were only getting better.
"So I've basically been here for about three years, I'd say, total. But I've called this place my home for the past nearly five years," she said, standing up to rinse out her bowl of cereal. It was time to make room for the pancakes but the wait was getting to her. She dumped the bowl out in the sink and ran the water to turn on the disposal drain. When everything was down the drain, she turned it off and put the bowl in the dishwasher, it needed a lot more dishes to be full enough to wash, but maybe that could happen after they were finished with the plates for the pancakes, cups, and the pancake grill.
I agree with the broadened areas. Residential could include anywhere that people sleep, including homes and hotels and apartments and motels, the such. Everywhere else would fall under those categories and I feel like with such a broadened area, it keeps up the creativity to make up these original areas.
I would even suggest an even more broad area, a board for just the Streets. There are plenty of dark things that happen in the streets, in dark alleys, and plenty who just want to walk around. I'm excited for this though.
While Liz seemed like she was taking notes of everything, Fade could tell her time with the tour was over. Usually, parents wanted to help their children settle down, say their goodbyes, give them a final talk on how clean their rooms should be and blah blah blah. Again, this was everything Fade had seen parents do, nothing her actual parents had done. Unfortunately, Fade did not live with them long enough to even graduate Kindergarden and when she was returned from her captor, they had died in a car crash. Not even her foster parents had enough time to go to her elementary school graduation since her powers developed even before that. No, Fade had never been kissed goodbye.
While the facial expression on Mrs. Sundance's face was that of neutrality, the words informed Fade well enough that it was time to make her exit. Glancing around the room to make sure she did not forget anything, she clapped her hands together and inhaled with a smile. "Well then, I'll leave the rest up to you, ma'am. If you have any further questions, you can stop by the foyer, I will probably be hanging around their. Or if in the future, you have any further questions, here is our direct number to the Mansion," she said as she pulled her wallet from her back pocket, she hated purses.
While the wallet was a little tattered and old, it held sentimental value, the business card inside was undoubtably professional. It was a little off-white color with the words Xavier's Sister School Institute for Gifted Youngsters and underneath had her name along with the number directly to the school, the fax number, and her e-mail adress. However, she was not too tech savvy nor was she that good at reading, so she only checked her e-mail maybe once a week. "I hope you enjoy your stay here and I'll be seeing you around," she waved to Liz as she exited the room. Leaving the door open, Fade walked down the hall, letting out a little sigh of relief as she walked away. Well, that went well...
The girl still stuttered, maybe she just needed to relax some more. However, it was not fair to act like Fade understood anything about this woman, maybe she had a stuttering problem, some people had those sorts of speech impediments, or maybe it was part of her mutation? She introduced herself as Amber, a fairly human name. Some mutants preferred to be called by a code name, like Fade, who connected their human name to a bad past or to what they have come to make an alter ego, someone who is held responsible for all the things that go wrong instead of blaming herself. Jenny, she's the one who makes big mistakes, or at least thats how it used to be. Lately, she's been realizing that Fade makes just as many mistakes, but she'd rather go by that name than to devise another one, the name sort of grew on her.
Amber asked if she minded blueberries, that was something new. Fade had only used chocolate before, but never any sort of fruit, though she was sure they served it at IHOP, or maybe they just served the chocolate chip pancakes... "Not at all, that sounds a lot more healthy," she smiled. Now that she was getting older, she was becoming a bit more healthy, not by choice. She loved the thought of drowning herself in candy, but after two bars, her body usually told her to knock it off. The chocolate pancakes would do the same, so the blueberries might be a little better of an idea, and she may actually be able to eat the whole thing.
The sun had taken a heavy toll on Fade's energy and she yawned, sprawled out on the Mansion grass. The days were getting so hot and the energy seemed to drip from her skin in the liquid form of sweat. It was time to get up and do something, she was getting out of shape with all of this heat. In fact, she hadn't made a visit to the Danger Room since Romania, or at least she hadn't gone to the Danger Room for a Danger Simulation. Stretching, she pulled herself to her feet and looked up at the Mansion. After climbing up the Mansion for so long, she knew exactly what room she lived in. Phasing her claws through the wall, she began to climb up until she reached her room, after much more time than usual. Peeking through the window to make sure, she phased through the wall and walked into her room. The air conditioning blasted her face with an amazing breezy feeling and she stretched again.
After a quick cold splash of water in her face, she changed into some work out clothes. Blue sweatpants and a white cami complimented her blue eyes for a moment, but only until they changed green and started up their gradual journey through the color wheel. On her way out, she pulled on her pumas and walked down the hall way. Her lack of working out required her to warm up before this Danger Room routine and she started to climb up the wall, still moving in the same direction when she climbed to the ceiling and hung upside-down. Lazily, she let her hands dangle down and continued to walk on the ceiling until she reached the stairs.
Pulling herself up, she grabbed onto the ceiling with her hands and let go with her feet, flipping down. The rest of the walk included more climbing, stretching, and rolling around. When she reached the Danger Room, it was already set up. There was a city, a very rainy city. While Fade was pretty darn good at making herself invisible, water always had a nasty way of making it nearly inpossible to stay that way, still she needed to train on that one. If she was in the city, why not wear her outfit? Plus, if there was a boy in there, she would most certainly not wish to go in while wearing a white cami in the rain...
When she had changed into her tight leather outfit with red stitching, she entered herself into the program and entered the simulation. While she was still under shelter, she turned invisible and looked around, squinting her eyes to see if she could see anyone. There. She could see the outline of someonen and she jumped off the ledge and onto the next building. While her jump was a little short, which she wanted, she clawed onto the building and climbed up the rest, more warming up. The next roof, she just jumped on, catching herself with her claws on top of the roof, warm ups were over.
Approaching the figure in the rain, she recognized who it was. One of the few people invisibility could never work on, Luke was blind. Still, she remained invisible for whatever else was out there, she would have the upper hand on the enemies. "You out here alone?" she asked, knowing perfectly well Luke could take care of himself. She was just curious if she was right by staying invisible. Some people enjoyed fighting each other in the Danger Room while others enjoyed Team Work. Maybe she had just walked in on a battle with another Resident and she was about to get attacked, though she hoped not.
When they had reached the room, Fade moved the suitcase to her other hand and used her free one to open the door. It wasn't anything too special inside. The bed was plain, it needed some sheets and personality, but it was a nice mattress, not the horrible flat topped spring bed, it had a little pillow top cushion to help the students' backs. Though it was optional in case the students preffered harder beds, like the Earth mutants. The furniture was a light colored wood. It made up the bed, which could be switched to a bunk bed if the room mate wanted, or raised or lowered if Elizabeth pleased.
The desk was the same color as the bed frame and the chair was a little wooden one, though the students could cover it with cushions if they wanted. The dresser was a three drawer, the top one the smallest for panties and socks and such. The closet was an average size but there were two doors, one for each room mate so they had separate closets. The carpet was plain white, though that seemed to cause some problems with the students since they loved to bring food to their room. "If you spill anything, there's a janitor's closet on your floor where you can find the spotbot to clean it up. We also have the vaccum cleaner in that closet too. There are two for each floor so please put it back when you're done with it," she said, informing her of the little curtesy rules.
Moving over to a door next to the door, she opened it to reveal a bathroom. The sink, mirrors, and cabinets were outside the door while the toilet and shower was inside the door. "Of course, you share this bathroom with your room mate but also with the room mates in the room next to your's," she said, moving out of the way for Elizabeth to see. There were a couple towels up and some bathroom supplies in the shower along with some toilet paper. The neighbors had already settled down. "The toilet paper is also in the janitors closet, I would suggest having an extra roll in the cabinet so you don't have to just sit there calling your room mate or neighbors to bring you a roll," Fade sort of laughed, it was a little funny to think about.
