The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jezebel grinned. Now the man was talking her favorite language. She didn’t know much about the Sanctuary herself, but she did know was that a lot of likeminded mutants seemed to find their way there. Her new brothers, the Abyssi were very much like her, even Princess Syn held very much the same attitude. Though she couldn’t speak for everyone that walked in through the Sanctuary’s golden doors, there was nothing wrong with directly a likeminded individual there, was there?
She smirked a little as she nodded.
“I think you’ll like it there,” she said honestly. “Not EVERYONE will be as powerful as you or I, but a lot of us do have the same mentality. Really it is just a place for wayward, homeless, down trodden mutants to go. It offers them a warm bed, good food, and chance to feel like there is one place where they belong.”
Another grin and she shrugged her shoulders a little dismissively.
“And if one or two of us happen to think alike, well, all the better,” she winked and giggled a bit maniacally. “If you ever get the urge…you should check it out. I’m sure you’d be eager to call that place your new home.”
Jezebel grinned wide as she looked down at the man. He seemed to be judging whether or not that she was trustworthy, or even someone that he wanted to hang out with. In reality, Jezebel just didn’t care. So long as the man didn’t attempt to kill her again, Jezebel was only too happy to leave this situation without having to kill a fellow mutant. That was one thing that she believe in above all else, a mutant’s life was far more valuable than a humans.
Even if they didn’t leave as friends, that was fine. So long as they left as equals to further the mutant cause. And judging by the way he killed those humans, he obviously didn’t care for them; probably almost as much as Jezebel didn’t care for them. It was a thought that made her smile.
A fraction of a second later, interrupted from her musings, the red Amazon looked down to see the man offering his hand to her.
>> "Psych."
A friendship it is then.
Smiling, Jezebel reached out (cautiously of course since she didn’t want to fall victim to his abilities in case this was simply a ruse) and took the man’s hand. She made sure to not squeeze too hard since a crushed hand was no way to start off a friendship.
“Jezebel Tickle,” she grinned. “You should come by the Sanctuary. I’m sure there are a mutant or two that share our beliefs in the eradication of this doomed species known as humans.”
Jezebel leaned back against one of the parked cars, still squeezing the throat of the man that she held fast in her hand. The survivor struggled, flailed, and did everything possible in his attempt to free himself from the iron-like grip, but it was quickly becoming apparent that he was not going to get free unless Jezebel wanted it to be so.
Lips twisted into a malicious smile, she squeezed just enough to break something vital enough to keep the man from moving. Shallow breathes fell from his gapping mouth as the red Amazon casually lifted him up and started to pet his balding head. Though he squeaked and groaned pathetically in protest, unable to move any limb of his body, Jezebel didn’t stop. She just scrunched up her nose cutely and continued to pet the man’s head as if he were nothing more than a sad excuse for a lap dog.
“Sshhhh,” she admonished her plaything. “I wanna see this part of the show.”
She grinned wide as the men advanced on the mental interloper. They were close enough that Jezebel almost felt like wanted to shout out a warning to her new friend, but why should she? This was his test. Even if he didn’t want to prove himself, it was obvious that he was taking care to attempt to impress her. Jezebel had to admit that she was doing the same. She rarely met people that could keep up to her and those who did, well, they were always fun to keep around.
So, in silence she remained as she waited for him to move. And when he did, boy, she could not drop the smile from her face.
He moved with an elegance that she truly enjoyed. The way he manipulated the knives, striking without striking, letting the knives and his enemies do all the work for him. It was such a beautiful sight that Jezebel felt her spirit lighten.
BANG!!
The Amazon blinked and grinned. Now that was some impressive manipulation. Straightening up and pushing herself off the car, Jezebel smirked wide and casually tossed her paralyzed pet aside. Softly she clapped her hands, in applause and nodded her head.
“Not bad. Not. Bad. At. All.” she beamed. “Maybe you do know what you are doing,” she cackled as she looked down to him.
Jezebel was in her element. She lashed out, struck, and batted away humans as if they were nothing. A few tried to get smart and circle around her or attempt to run down the opposite end of the street. But Jezebel was much too smart for that. It was a simple enough matter to pick up a fearful bystander and send them hurtling across the gap of street. There was nothing more satisfying then watching a pair of humans collide and collapse with a sickening crunch. It made the smile on her face widen oh so much more.
Spinning the bloodied parking meter around in her hands like a baton, the woman cackled as she stepped up to a trio of men who brandished pool cues and broken bottles. They were so cute when they tried to defend themselves.
“What the hell is that?!”
“A mutie! What do you think!”
“Gawd, here she comes!!”
“NO! NOOO!!!”
Jezebel silenced when quickly enough with a well placed swipe of her weapon. The trio collapsed with a disgusting sound that reminded the red Amazon of an empty pail being struck with a wrench. She was sure that whatever was vital within was probably nothing more than mush now. The thought made her giggle.
ARGHH!!
She turned fast and saw that her newfound “friend” had managed to take one of the escapees down with his knife. He was definitely good to have in a fight. As a matter of fact, she was eager to see what else he could do. That was why, after the last of the surviving bar goers began to flee, that she said nothing with a pair of particularly mean looking bikers began to advance on the man from behind.
Instead, Jezebel kept quiet as she grabbed one last survivor by the neck and squeezed, watching the man with anticipation.
>> "I don't have to prove anything to you. I do it for fun."
She grinned. This was definitely a man after her own heart. Though he had a bit of arrogance about him, and his abilities, Jezebel had to admit he was just a tad bit impressive. The way he floated those knives, as well as stopped that car door she hurled at him was enough to catch her attention. Now she was only wondering what he could do next.
He moved over to a car, the same one that she had demolished. She watched in fascination as he held his palms out and slowly the vehicle began to twitch and hover into the air. It was slow going and obviously strained the mutant. Any other time Jezebel probably would have mocked him for his lack of control or mental strength, but she secretly found herself rooting the man on. Not because she really gave a damn about him, but more because she wanted to see what mayhem he could create.
Having a playmate who could create mayhem was always a plus.
The car moved, lifting into the air, and was suddenly hurled with an invisible force at the busy Sports Bar. The revelries within were ceased as the screams of people drowned out any and all happy music that had initially been going on. Parts of the building crumbled and people began to run out in droves, panic stricken and looking for salvation out in the dark world.
They wouldn’t get any from her.
>> "Your turn, missy."
She grinned.
“Not bad. Though, I do remember you saying that we don’t teach lessons with property damage,” she smirked as she reached out and grabbed one of the parking meters that lined the sidewalk. Humans and their need to collect money for the simplest task. Holding it tight, the woman growled and she ripped it free from the ground. Carefully she patted it, like a baseball bat, as she sauntered up to the panic droves. Without a second though, she began to swing.
CRACK!!
CRUSH!!!!
FWHAP!!!
Her laughter filled the air as the demented woman swung with all her might and second people crumpling to the ground or flying through the air. Jezebel really was having way too much fun. Even those that had begun to gather to advance on her didn’t bother the red Amazon. She was looking forward to a good fight.
Jezebel stalked up to the man but paused the second that she was in front of him. Though she didn’t know too much about his abilities, she knew better than to get into a fight that she couldn’t very well win. She narrowed her fierce eyes upon him, accused him of standing up for humans, and held her ground in case he took a personal offense to that and attempted to continue their little exchange.
The look on his face was an obvious window into his real feelings on the subject.
>> "You think I'm doing this for them? I couldn't care less. You don't teach humans a lesson by destroying their cars. You teach them a lesson by destroying them."
She waited for a moment when she saw those knives lift up off the ground again. She was not sure if he wanted to attempt to go on the attack again but she was prepared for it. While his powers and the knives could be deadly, she was much closer and the man was within reach of one of her massive hands. There was not telling what his power could do to human flesh so she would spare no moment in crushing his little head.
Thankfully, the smirk on his face was disarming enough to stay her hand. The malicious intent in his eyes made her grin a little in response. Maybe he wasn’t so much of plaything…as a playmate. She grinned wide at the thought.
“I…have no problem destroying those disgusting cockroaches,” she responded with a satisfied smirk. The sounds of cheering and laughing nearby was enough to grab her attention. She looked past the man and to a Sport’s Club that was loud with human revelers enjoying their drunken party. “But there is no sense in just killing humans when all their stuff is left around, undamaged, for more of them to take claim. They’re little more than parasites.” Wickedly she nodded across the street to the bar. “You want to prove your sentimentalities against them? If you’re good…maybe I won’t snap your neck. Hehehahaahah!”
Jezebel paused. She had hurled that car door with all her might but it just seemed like it wasn’t enough. Before she knew it the item she had tossed had paused in mid-air. For a moment the red Amazon was completely confused. That was not how that was supposed to work!! In frustration she could feel her anger rise which caused her muscles to tense and her eyes to flicker an even brighter molten yellow. Fists clenched, she began to advance on him.
It only took a second or two for her realize what was really going on. The man had that knife float in the air and now he had paused a flying car door in mid-throw. Whatever ability this mutant possessed, it was obvious that he was strong with it.
That did not mean she didn’t notice the look of concentration on his face. He was focused, but he was strong.
She quickened her step as she sauntered towards him, fingers curling up her fists as she made ready to strike. But it didn’t help that she was noticing the car door now spinning, faster and faster. She saw it only a split second as the door was sent flying back at her!
The red Amazon only grinned.
She twisted her upper body and waited until the very last moment, when the door was close enough for her to practically feel it whipping the air in front of her face. Once it was close enough, the woman screamed and lashed out, striking the underside of the door and sent it hurdling off to the side, down one of the dark and dank alleys.
With a soft shake her head, her black hair waved briefly about her shoulders.
“You’re just a bag full of tricks, aren’t ya?” she grinned and cracked her knuckles. “What’re you fighting me for? I’m just teaching these pathetic humans a lesson,” she shrugged dismissively. “No need to run around and pretend to be a hero. Especially a hero for humans; it’s pretty sad.”
Jezebel was strong, far stronger than she looked. That isn’t to say that she didn’t look strong! The woman cleared the seven-foot height mark, her muscles were toned and strong, and there was just enough of a dangerous glint in her eye that proved she was not someone to be reckoned with. But she was indeed far stronger than someone could have anticipated.
She paused, though, watching in amazement as a knife floated in the air in front of her! So this guy was a mutant. She guessed that that was enough to keep her from putting him in a body bag right away but as she was about to be generous and just walk away from the encounter, the knife flew the air and charged directly at her.
STAAAABBB!
Jezeble winced as she felt the blade enter. It cut through her tough skin, but so dense was her musculature that it didn’t go in as deep as a blade of that speed should have. The force was still enough to send the growling woman stagger back a single step.
She wasn’t used to staggering.
She regained her footing and straightened up, glaring across the expanse of empty space that separated her from the new playmate. A glance out of the corner of her showed her that she still had the knife embedded about part of the way into her shoulder. A sneer on her lips as he reached over, pulling the blade out with hardly a wince on her part, and she cracked her neck to the side before addressing the man.
“I don’t like killing mutants,” she muttered. Her arm shooting off to the side, she broke another window in a car door but proceeded to rip it off the vehicle with two hard tugs. Once it was ripped off she smirked at the man. “But I don’t see anything wrong with maiming!!” her voice screamed and was followed by maniacal laughter as she hurled the car door with all her might directly at the man. With her full strength behind it, she was fairly certain it could easily take his head off. But she hoped it wouldn’t; she was having fun.
Jezebel cackled as she shook the glass free from her arm. She really was having fun today and she was thankful for it. Penelope had managed to remain calm for far too longer; longer than Jezebel could have anticipated. It was obvious that the city, that these disgusting humans, have forgotten what it was like to have Jezebel Tickle breathing down their necks. She needed to do everything she could to make up for that.
A smile stretching her face, the red Amazon turned on her heel and made ready to cross the street. There was another line of cars that had yet to be demolished! She definitely couldn’t let that happen.
>> "You make too much noise."
Her head tilted. Her long hair partially masking her face, the twisted woman turned and let her fiery, yellow gaze sweep over the scene in front of her. At first she saw nothing of consequence: trash, more cars, a man, brick walls, the glint of light on glass…
A man?
Her eyes locked onto the interloper and a truly sadistic smile stretched across her lips, baring her teeth in a vicious manner. He was tall, but definitely not taller than herself. Casually she flipped her hair behind her shoulder as she took on a more casual posture. Humans weren’t a threat so why should she look like anything other than condescending to him?
She snickered a bit at his comment.
“Oh sweetheart,” she smirked. “I’m nothing. You should hear the sounds that I can make people make. So. Very. Funny.” A barrage of demented laughter flew from Jezebel’s mouth as she hollered out her joy. When she calmed down enough she gazed at the man again. “You mutant? Or…ick…human?”
Jezebel Tickle’s cackled flowed into the air like a warm breeze as she strolled through the dark and quiet street of one of her favorite locations. People here kept to themselves and were extremely quiet about the goings on in their neighborhood, especially this one. Jezebel liked it when people like this were quiet because it made less trouble for her to have to go around silencing everyone. So, traveling down the sidewalk, nudging her well toned hip into the side mirrors, shiny hub caps, and/or windshields, the red Amazon left a trail of destruction in her wake.
But the neighbors, they knew to keep quiet. It was never good to anger someone who could clearly rip a man’s head clean off.
Dressed in tight, form fitting black leather pants, a loose leather jacket and stiletto boots, the woman looked like a force to be reckoned with. Long raven locks of hair hung down to her lower back and swept back and forth behind her as she sauntered onward, while her tight, muscular arms swung back and forth in time with her steps.
Lips stretched into a malicious smile, the woman cackled again as she leaned down and drove her elbow through another car windshield.
SMASSH!!
“Hahaha!! Too. Much. FUN!!” she grinned as she removed her arm from the broken glass and brushed the shards in sparkling cascades onto the asphalt below. She was really enjoying herself tonight. Penelope had kept her cooped up for too long, much longer than she wanted. So she was going to make this night count.
Yesh! Penelope wanted to jump up in triumph. Both she and Chase had managed to avoid boring conversation with adults. That really could be tedious; just standing around, listening to adults as they talked about things that were either above her head or were simply too boring to pay attention to. But, the fates had decided to shine their blessing upon Penelope and Chase by granting them a reprieve! A bright smile and she nodded to Chase.
Chase gestured. It would have been rude for Penelope to not follow. After all, he was the tour guide.
Eagerly the colorfully dressed girl followed Chase into the building. Instantly she was in love. She was at a similar place for mutants, some place called the Sanctuary, but this place just seemed to be so much more grander. The décor was elegant, it was warm, and most of all, there was just an energy of being inviting and understanding to everyone that walked in through the doors. Penelope felt like this place was home.
She smiled at that.
>> “What do you want to see first? There’s a lot to do…We’ve got… um… food, if you’re hungry. The library… I could show you the classrooms… and there’s lots of stuff to do outside.”
‘You pick!” Penelope beamed. “I would like to see all of it. It’s so big though! How long have you been here? Are there more kids? Are the teacherss mutants too? Is your mom a mutant? What can she do? Who is that?” she asked as she pointed to gray girl with wings and horns whistling to herself as she strolled through the halls. “OH! What’s that?!” Penelope giggled as she ran off, following the glint of something shiny.
Penelope barely heard anything around her. Though she knew how important it was to remain conscious of her surroundings, at the same time, she didn’t want anyone to think that she was staring at them. Penny knew that she didn’t like it when it was done to her and she would have hated to make anyone else feel that uncomfortable. And such an idea could definitely happen here with all the physically mutated people wandering around. She liked them, but she doubted that sentiment would have been conveyed.
So, the young girl wandered aimless into the rec room of the Sanctuary, looking for nothing in particular except to satisfy her insatiable need to explore. She liked this place and she had to admit that it was the first place that Jezebel ever took a liking to and Penelope did too. It was rare but appreciated.
Coming to a stop next to one of the tables, she tilted her head as she watched a couple of mutants playing chess. She knew OF the game but her parents never taught her. They were too busy trying to save the world from “evil” humans. In silence she watched, not wanting to disturb the nice people or their friendly game.
>> “Hey, kid,”
She blinked as she turned her gaze up. She was spotted? But…how?! She was sure that she was quiet enough and that her clothes were the perfect camouflage.
Turning to the left, then to the right, the young girl spied for the source of the sound. Maybe it wasn’t her being addressed? But she quickly caught sight of the advancing girl who was around her age. Penelope was a little shocked by this! She hadn’t seen many kids around her age in the Sanctuary so far (granted she had only been here twice) but the idea of it was still a little startling. She wondered if that meant this girl was a mutant too.
She beamed her brightest and whitest smile in response to the girl’s smile.
>> “You new around here?”
“Hi!” she announced with as much energy and enthusiasm that she always seemed to possess. “Yes! I’m visiting. I’ve, ugh, only been here once before. I didn’t get to explore much, though.” Instantly she stuck out her hand to other girl. “I’m Penelope.”
Penelope Pepper was really growing to like the Sanctuary. Though she was scared when she first visited this place, she had also met the nice Princess Syn and was really growing to appreciate seeing all the different types of mutants that were everywhere. They were so variety, so different, so unique, scary, beautiful, odd, normal, wonderful, that Penelope didn’t feel like an outsider anymore. When one was surrounded by outsiders, it was much easier to feel a sense of normalcy.
It was only after a careful talk with her alter ego, Jezebel, did Penelope finally feel comfortable enough coming to the Sanctuary on her one. Though she of coursed wanted to see Princess Syn again, she was more than happy to just wander the halls and meet the various people. So far no one really seemed to bother her and Penelope was glad; she liked the place too much now for her vision of it to be tarnished.
Walking down the halls of the Sanctuary, Penelope hummed to herself as she listened to the music that poured out of the headphone tucked into her small ears. Occasionally her voice would ring out as she sung along, but it was not too obnoxiously loud. Instead it was low enough to not bother people (so she hoped).
Dressed in her normal attire of jean overalls, a tie-dyed t-shirt and bandana, Penelope was a colorful mess that was hard to miss. Thankfully, though, no one seemed to bother her.
“Oooooh! Shooting at the walls of heartache / Bang Bang! / I am the warrior!!”
She giggled to herself as she continued to stroll. While in most cause people would probably seeing a 10 year old wandering around by herself, Penelope didn’t see a problem in it. People were nice when they usually stopped her and asked if she was okay or lost, but young girl always smiled, shook her head, and continued on her merry way. She truly was a free spirit.
Peeking around a corner, Penelope’s eyes went wide. She found TVs, games, even vending machines that looked like they had cans of soda available. A quick glance to make sure that she wouldn’t be disturbing anyone, Penelope sung to herself as she strolled into the room, dark eyes turning and roaming over ever feature and facet of the room. It really was pretty. Whoever these people were, they did a lot for mutants!
Just like mom and dad.
Smiling to herself, she stepped into the room and wandered, looking left and right at all the pretty things that she saw. This place was infinitely cool. What else would she find?
>> “Nice to meet you… Thank you for letting Penny come play with me today.”
Lilith smiled and nodded. She commented to the much taller woman that Chase was such a polite and well-behaved boy. Quickly the conversation between the two women began to start up and Penelope was left to turn her attention onto Chase and Chase alone. The rest of the talking seemed to be too grown up, but it was understandable. Lilith rarely spoke to other people, at least not that Penelope had seen, so to see her actually talking to someone with interest was a marvel to the young girl.
She knew that Lilith’s contact with other people was rare because of herself. Penelope feared that Lilith did her best to keep people away because she didn’t want them to get hurt if being around Penelope accidentally brought out Jezebel. She was just trying to look out for other people. But…at what cost.
At times Penelope felt bad. She didn’t know what to do to fix it except do her best to be a good girl and keep Mrs. Tickle away. But, it definitely seemed as if Lilith was having a good time, maybe it was time for her to take her leave so that Lilith could be with people (around) her own age.
She tugged at Lilith’s hand.
“Lilith, can Chase and I go look at the school? Pleeeease?” she asked sweetly.
“That’s up to Ms. Taylor here. Ask nicely.” Lilith smiled.
Penelope nodded and turned to the tall woman again. “Please, Ms. Taylor, can Chase so me around the school? We won’t cause trouble, promise.”
Only when she received an answer from the woman did she smile, turn to Chase and beam. She was eager to explore…
