The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aedus seemed to be thinking the same thing. though in the back of his mind he was wondering what the catch was…why was she willing to make them into tanks when she wasn’t willing to risk the guy with the groceries.
Aedus threw his elbow into one man’s face and then a second time as he was falling, he was moving so fast, too fast everything was becoming a blur of destruction these men, but then these men had it coming. The cracking sound of the man’s nose was enough to announce that it was being broken. The man he collided with next had brandished a huge knife, but on the first swing Aedus was tearing the blade from his hand. Several of the man’s fingers didn’t seem to line up the right way anymore.
A glance at drew showed a wicked look, it might have been happiness but in the situation it didn’t seem right, Aedus wondered momentarily if looked the same. His eyes fell on a man in the back that was starting to run. The Irishman took off after him and collided with him and then a brick wall, the collision sounded as if a rhino decided to run into the building full charge. Aedus stumbled back the man slid down the wall as if he were in a cartoon. Aedus turned to see only a couple men left. Drew would more than likely handle those. Aedus walked back with only eyes for the woman feeding them extraordinary power…and then he realized that was what the men were after…not a bag of groceries, but the service of the mutants…the woman in particular. He tried to peel his mind away from the lust of power that she was providing. The power she could give him…he fought thinking of honeyed words to give her. He walked up to the woman.
“Thank you for the help.” Yes, he was thanking her. his battle strategy would have likely gotten the pair saved but paid for it with his and Jules’s lives…possibly.
The score whittled away in his partners grasp, he wasn't bad certainly did better than he had. But it left Smitty and o'leary chuckling and clucking insults at them. good natured or not they were hurting for points and these geezers were giving what for.
The old men's round brought their score from.204 to 19. Aedus shook his head in dis belief these old men were ringing them. He should pay attention more to who could play what, but it helped that the owner didn't let people bet on games against each other in the pub, it left hard feelings at the door.
He had thought that the triple would get their score down but realized he should have been aiming for the doubles.
When his turn rolled around again he hit a double 15 and a triple 10 and....a single 8. Did he know how to play this game, he was pretty sure he helped this time... at least more than he had the first round.
Ok, well…he didn’t call the police immediately after he told his tale. That was a good thing. Aedus always made an effort to make physical contact with a woman when he introduced himself, there was something about breaking down a physical barrier that made it easier to interact with a woman after you made that contact and seemed to increase your odds of more contact later….That however was not the goal of this handshake however it still might serve the same purpose of improving a relationship between two people. “ I have the same problem…but I go with it.”
“I appreciate it! I sincerely hope that it is…if not I am going to have fun tracking that guy down again. Not like we live in a highly populated area…no, where to hide, am I right?” Aedus smirked at his desperation…it was much more convincing.
He really wanted to keep the bike, sorry whoever got scammed. But he did pay for it… and he probably would pay for it in Karma down the road. But for now…it was time to look at shiny upgrades…”I’m really not sure what all I should do to it. I like the paint job fine. Good colors. But as far as performance, I wouldn’t mind making it that much better. What is the weakest point of the bike.”
(let’s call it legal, gives us more to do in the thread. Also feel free to b.s or glaze over about whatever needs to be upgraded . unless of course you want to go into detail, I won’t stop you, but I don’t want to give you homework either.)
Hey...The music stopped. a bleary eyed vision of a word popped up previously and it wasn't doing anyone any harm until it smashed the dance floor. Bouncers started heading for the two men that seemed as confused as he did.
"sweetheart, I'ma, gonna help them." He planted a kiss on the Girl he'd been dancing with for the night. " If this goes how I think it is save it for midnight and think of me."
The girl started to protest and popped a pen out of a little purse that had been bouncing off her hip... He was suprised the thing had room for anything much less the mini pen it concealed. she scrawled on his arm in almost legible digits her number. he then proceeded to make way across the room to the armor guy and the drunk teen...he made it just in time for the huge bouncers to start grabbing at the trio, intending on removing them...they were either super strength mutants...or they were mr.universe league body builders. either way, Aedus thought resistance was futile. besides he could barely stand on his own as it was.
“I disagree, I bet a hundred to one if the girl’s hair is close to that shade its from a bottle, I mean imitation is flattery and all, but when its natural it’s so much better.”Aedus nodded to himself.
“Ah, I see. Either way, I am sure the trip will have been worth it.” Reel it in Aedus, no shopping in the high school section. Well that was ok, that would probably make this tour a bit more productive with out him trying to sidetrack her onto a date.
Nah, it would probably seem backward to you but I honestly don’t like to be out of the city much, it feels wrong when its quiet and peaceful.”
“mmmm,” Aedus spotted a hiring sign in blacked out window that he wouldn’t admit that he liked to a girl who’s cheeks still blushed at a compliment. No gentlemen’s clubs job for our high school senior. He pointed out a store that she might like, the clothes seemed to match her style well enough, and it was a bit on the higher end side so the y would pay better than most. “That shop isn’t bad.” He started walking in that direction. “Have you had any jobs before?” He thought about the places he might be able to call in a favor from friends and family.
"Hispanic sounds really good, something hot and spicy would hit the spot." He replied to Emily, she had a way of saying it like it would be a great experience. He of course didn't realize that it was a hunger for Hispanic food that would never be met.
Aedus pursed his lips for a moment as he looked at a imaginary map of New york in his head, a defiant perk of being a bike Currier in this sprawling city was knowing the lay of the land extremely well. "Actually, there is a fantastic little, Cuban place a couple blocks down." Aedus waved a cab down, Lydia look beat and Emily had just been hit by a car, He was not making them walk.
It pulled over and he held open the door for the ladies. "Don't worry about it Lydia, I understand you had a lot going on. I'm glad you got away from that guy, are you doing, Ok?" he had a place she could stay at if she needed it. He would have to work at behaving, He wouldn't want to put her in a situation she felt like she was just getting out of.
Aedus took a smack to the back of the head. How had they gotten behind him? He was watching them wasn't he, His eye met his dance partners bring them up from her chest and she merely laughed at him. "I think that guy just hit me!" She looked around.
"It's just some Teenager, he is just dancing don't worry about it." The women replied with a less than sober lilt to her voice. She was leaning on him more than she was when they first started dancing. He wondered if the blonde had poisoned them or if she could turn it off.
It was a good thing he didn't drive tonight. Aedus turned to look at Wiggly and the Armor guy as he thought about this disturbing video. He wondered if those guys knew LMFAO, wern't they in the video, there was always guys with Crazy hair and crazy clothes...Nah it most have been the booze thinking.
Aedus cackled at the old geezers as the accepted that they were indeed Age. He shrugged at David, if he didn’t want tips on how to hold a dart maybe he shouldn’t look at it like he’d never seen one before. What was up with that? He watched the old men hit their marks with a decent bit of accuracy, two 20’d and a ten for o’leary and a triple 9 and two tens for Smitty. That put their score at ninety seven the first round out. That left them 204 to go. It however had to be perfect, so even if they got a good lead on them on knocking down the score it didn’t mean the game was over by any means. Though the old men certainly seemed to think so. “Oh, we are just sewing you into a body bag my boy. Let see the walk not the talk youngin.”
Aedus looked at Drew in wonder if he was going to throw or not. Aedus tossed the first dart and hit a 7, the second hit a 9 and the third hit a lucky triple 10. Dropping their 301 down to 260. It wasn’t bad, but it was all luck. Aedus was trying to get used to his augmented body. He was not the most graceful like this.
Aedus pat David on the back, he needed 56 to keep up.
Aedus grabbed the thug’s leg as it came in for another kick to the gut. He was going to be feeling that the rest of the week. He Wrenched on the man’s leg pulling him off balance and let a ferocity bubble up in him from where he didn’t know but an anger first bubbled up and then erupted forth. Grabbing a loose brick from the wall the pair was up against, he smashed it across the gang bangers jaw. The man rolled over with a groan and then went still. He probably passed out from the pain.
The Irishman spit out some blood and then half ran and half hobbled into the fray. Stepping in for the lady who was scratching and pulling at the man in front of her, If he was doing anyone a favor it was the guy she was fighting. With Drew and Aedus in between her and them, she started to chanting and then her voice changed to something that sounded like she spoke with the voice of a crowd.
Aedus’s wounds began to heal and he felt a rush of adrenaline pump through him that made him feel more alive than he had ever felt. He swung harder and faster, their blows felt feeble. Drew would be feeling much the same. The thugs were beginning to look afraid. But if Aedus and Drew could see the woman glowing behind them pumping them full of what appeared to be black and red flames they might have been afraid too.
“Thanks, Sorry; I’ve already had my caffeine, your just getting yours started.” Aedus calmed himself down and took a breath. “I’m Aedus.” He shook the man’s hand in turn and appreciated the fact the greeting didn’t become a pissing contest.
Aedus leaned over the counter and started filling out the clipboard. After filling out the top portion with his address and cell and all the other info someone might need to track down a thief… He realized he should have opened with this in the first place.
“Yeah, Here’s the thing about that. I’m actually kind of nervous to get insurance on it. I bought it from this guy that needed to sale it for college tuition and I got a really, really good deal. After he had the money and I had the keys, the guy can’t find the pink slip and says he’ll call me back. I call him back and the line is dead. So while I am hoping that I didn’t just throw away a ton of cash on something I am going to have to return. I was kind of wondering if you could make sure it isn’t stolen. If it is, I intend on doing the right thing. But I am really hoping it’s legit and the guy couldn’t afford to keep his phone on due to school. “ he sighed and looked a bit out of sorts.
Aedus Wrote out the vin and the license plate that Sal’s Auto had put on the bike. They said it would show as clean and recently sold. But they also dealt in stolen vehicles.
“That must be where you get that fantastic shade of Stawberry from.” Complimented freely, He liked to flatter, particularly when it was easy. So many girls tried for that shade and could only find it in a bottle.
Aedus put the context clues together so that he was pretty sure that she was just working for the money, most part time jobs were for that cause exactly. He nodded his understanding to the young woman. “Ah, Scotland.” That put the accent into place for him. He wanted to say she was from shawn connery land, but couldn’t seem to remember where he was from. “ Oh are you here for one of our fantastic colleges?” He went to a local school, growing up around NYU and all the others made him shrug off the appeal, so he found a small school that had a solid degree in what he wanted and went after it. He was surprised when he got a soccer scholarship to the school he wanted.
Aedus shook his head. “It’s perfectly natural to me, I grew up here, sometimes I wonder how I would feel without being able to spot the nearest sky scraper. For now though, try not to look up so much. Then you can just pretend they are two or three stories.”
“I guess we can just window shop to see if anyone has now hiring’s in the window. This strip is actually pretty good for shops.” He would keep her away from food. It was his preference to never work in food, so he would let her have his prejudice as well.
Yeah all he wanted were the basics from the man himself…and a conversation about what was going on. He would pursue more from Noel, if she wanted him to learn. He wasn’t sure what the problem was, but he respected her enough that he would back down if she wanted him to.
Aedus looked to the pair with interest. He could heal? Well that added a whole another level to confusion to what happened in the apartment, but explained how things might have gotten that messy without any bodies to be found. Beyond that he wondered at why it was different to Noel if he got hurt and healed, it sounded like a relief to him.
His eyes bounced between the two. “I’m ready whenever you are.” He pulled the tape open on the box and then undid the bubble wrap from the newly polished sheath and deposited the rest in a trash can near the front. he drew the blade to inspect it and was pleased at the apparent quality. He sheathed the blade once more and waited for the Unicorn and Noel.
"Sorry Teagues, but I am stealing this woman away to find a pile of sugar with her."
Hers was a smile he could bask in. A giddy nod answered her question. He rose to head to the dessert table. He looked at Noel with a sideways glance. " I have better news than that. Those women in the kitchen are all sugarmancers, not by mutation per say but you'll see."
Aedus took Noels plate and placed both of theirs in a bin. A pair of twins waited patiently as the bin filled, once it did, they began a dance of sorts that looked absolutely eccentric. The end result of their dance boiled down to recycling the objects so they were remade clean. The paper plates danced like origami the plastic rolled into balls, it all danced around the floor in front of them and began to glow, it then turned back into a stack of freshly package paper plates and plastic utensils.
They made their way toward a table that shined with sweetness, pies, cakes, cookies, various desserts that looked fantastic but couldn't quite be classified. everything made his mouth water. As they entered the line he put a finger up to his lips, signaling Noel that something was up. He then pointed to the pair in front of him. Ma and Da.
He grinned at Noel and spoke in a monotone. "Yeah, I really want you to meet my parents so we can assure them that we are coworkers and good friends. I know they are both curious to meet you."
The pair in front of them whirled around and were on them in seconds. Hugs and babbling that went over Aedus head. The pair switched and Aedus mother and was hugging Noel and his father was hugging him at the end. " You two should have found us quicker!. It is great to meet you Noel. My son has told me good things!" it was true. His mother sprung right into what the rest of the family had been up to and his father slowly guide them along the line with a tight lipped but pleased look on his face, as if he were escorting the world record holder for most words per minute spoken and he couldn't be happier.
Aedus laughed. he gave a sideways glance to Noel. " Don't worry she'll run out of breathe sometime." that earned him a playful pinch from his mother. "Oh you! So Noel, is he being good to you?"
Aedus traveled down the stairs and witnessed true happiness, he wanted this for Chase so bad. Watching them all together was touching. He was happy to be here and involved. He trusted Agnes and by extension trusted Ms.Gemma as well. He recognized the detective from the most terrifying day of his life. Turkey day of doom, He wasn't sure if he would recognize him as well but that was unimportant, he knew the man was willing to stand between a giant crazed turkey golem and the city. He was good wood.
Then the strangest thing seemed to happen as they got closer. the lava in his eyes cooled and returned his eyes to his typically mutant orange Irises his sight receded but his other senses increased back to normal, he wasn't sure what was going on here but, then his powers were relatively new to him. maybe the operated on a different time then the rest of his body. odd.
He stayed quiet and out of the way for now. He nodded and offered a calm smile to the officer who was obviously as touched by all this as he was, probably more, based on the closeness of the couple.
Aedus planted his feet under himself and lifted his dance partner and himself back to a standing position, the effect was fairly short lived for him and his date, perhaps they had halved the effect between them? Who knows? Aedus glanced around for the pretty little blonde that seemed to have an inebriating effect. The guy that was on the floor a moment ago, was up and moving again, upon closer inspection the dred head was pretty young, and by Aedus guess way too young to be here. And way too young to be that wasted…except that he was dancing with that girl not too long ago. The young man was heading toward a man in …Armor? 2012 was going to be a weird year wasn’t it?...yeah.
Aedus maneuvered so he could see what happened next without neglecting his new favorite mutant with black ringlet hair.
