The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He of course had been eaves dropping it was hard not to. He was nosy by nature and was happy when things went smoothly. he pretended to be occupied by the game section, comic book stores had some weird stuff in them, munchkin, call of Cthulu, something called eat your neighbors. A shudder ran down his spine as he thought about real zombies.
He looked over as the petite faye creature pulled on his shirt sleeve, Aedus smiled at the tug. " No problem, I volunteered. It sounded like it went well?"
He could see she got the job from the way her cheeks rose into a smile that was too cute. " So, where too now?"
“Colei.” Aedus agreed on principle of how the man had said it. He watched his blade tumble across the floor in a state of shock.
“Better than Lava.” Aedus shrugged as the wound seemed to seal it’s self up. The little scars where he had stitches on his side went away and would go unnoticed for some time. His knees would last that much longer with the short session, and might go unappreciated as he was hard on his joints with years of soccer and biking in his life, but wouldn’t realize that he should be feeling the aches and pains of it later.
Aedus shrugged his shirt off and wiped at the mess on the ground, not his best cleaning work. His shirt had a nice little window in it now and he didn’t think he would be wearing it any time soon.. The dizziness and shock was wearing off.
He stood up and tossed the shirt in the trash and picked his sword up off the ground. As he did he couldn’t help but notice that his abs happened to look extra nice, he had done a lot of sit-ups that morning and it seemed like the muscles just went and knitted themselves back up and were ready for more. He waited with his blade sheathed for his sword master wondering what exactly it meant that he claimed no he didn’t but he got so distracted afterward…for a moment he thought Sebastian intended to kill the man asking questions…but he wouldn’t heal him if he had.
He wouldn't have to worry about another round at all. O'leary wiped up the last of it on his turn leaving the youngsters to scamper away.
"Ha! Take that ya punks." smitty called. O'Leary laughed and added. " Maybe next time you'll teach us old folks to play billards.
Aedus shook his head, I can play pool. you want to dance that jig sometime old man, I'll beat you one round from the break. He wasn't talking smack he was just being honest in this case.
He grinned and patted David on the back. " We lost, but for whatever reason I think it's what Maggie wanted. I' think I just might go cover the rest of her shift, so she can take the night off." He winked at David. " It was good meeting you, I hope I see ya around here more often."
Aedus walked over to Maggie, Reached around her boldly undid the ribbon at the back of her apron and in one motion was tying around his waist. she laughed at him and swatted him lightly on the shoulder. and made her way toward David, what happened from there he probably didn't want to know about.
Of course he was. He was preparing to fight for his life…but he didn’t expect that for an answer, just dismissal, the nonchalance of which he did so, was ridiculous. Though centuries of practice with sword. Meant that he could also have practiced lying for just as long.
“none?” Aedus managed to get out as he blocked once, twice, thrice, four, five, six, the slices were coming faster and faster and faster still. He was doing amazingly well, except that he knew he couldn’t keep it up.
The thought seemed to cross his mind at the same to time the blade slashed through his chest. About an inch deep would be his guess. His orange eyes went wide. “ He took a deep breath. “ if you can fix, this I suggest you do it, before I do.” His breathe came out a breeze of smoke, his orange eyes began to glow just slightly. He was doing his best to hold back. He slumped to his knees. Looking up at the man who would either save him or have caused him to anger an already angry Gym owner.
The pain was enough to make him want to pass out or vomit, he unfortunately had felt worse and lived to tell the tale. Though being consumed by lava from the inside was hardly something one liked to dwell upon.
“There is really something called ginger beer?” He looked to his date who shrugged and then to Akshay, he had only ever heard of Ginger Ale. He’d have to try, cause if you couldn’t take the word of a drunken teen on the floor of a club on new years, who could you believe?
“ well I guess it would still work if you ever wanted to work a scam and be gone before they got back.” Aedus shrugged with a laugh to Akshay’s claim of short lived words.
“They glow. Just like the energy beams I can shoot from them.” veronica replied lightly to the kid on the ground that looked like he might attempt to thwart gravity once more.
Huh. That was good to know, if things got serious with that one, he’d make sure she broke up with him… and didn’t kill him? she was hot but what if she shot beams in her sleep, that would not be good for his deposit. The waitress came back with the drinks and a bottle of asprin. “ you all look like you might need some and based on the orders, you guys have been having fun downstairs. “ she passed out the drinks. And handed Akshay the asprin bottle. “ You need someone to kiss at midnight, you let me know.” Aedus grinned. “ That just means we need to get you up and about before the bell tolls for ya kid.”
Veronica got out her cell, “ my friends would love to be up here, one of them snuck there younger sister in, she’s seventeen, but I am guessing about as close as he is going to get in here otherwise.”
Aedus shrugged and sighed on the inside. “Sure bring them up and tell them to put it on Aedus Teague’s tab.” He looked to the waitress and she nodded.
Aedus put six on the counter and picked up his drink, it did look good. " Not every guy turns down a pretty little crush like that. Good to see there are other decent guys around. I'm Aedus, Nice to met you arm um."
Aedus turned and walked back to his seat and picked up his book once more. Now , he wouldn't be fighting to get the girls attention but to save it from getting bruised. " not sure what it is, but it looks fancy, I think he drew a..." Did he intend on making the coffee look like a poop? " a scoop of whipped topping." he decided not to insult her man behind the counter.
Aedus truly enjoyed the instruction but he’d be a liar if he said this was his only reason for being her. and so he said it. Aedus shadowed his teacher and pointed his blade toward the ground.
Aedus chewed on his thoughts for a moment…his caution built momentum and turned into a smoldering anger. “I wouldn’t be honest if I said sword practice was the only reason I am here…I had to see you for myself. I was told that you have a good heart, that you love your wife, your family. That you wouldn’t hurt them on purpose and that more than likely have been framed. Maya is safe, but I just don’t get how a man could stay here while his pregnant wife is being protected by someone else. And that apartment, it was destroyed.” His hand tightened on his hilt as he realized he might very well need that block that he had just been taught, his other hand grabbed at the sheath that fit his sword, when you are out classed sometimes it helps to abandon the rules and make your only rule, survive.
“Nope, not the boyfriend, just an acquaintance actually.” Aedus let the sting of the initial shock be healed by the compliment, and then the odd qualifier. He was Nice and that was a bad thing? Odd.
She hadn’t turned around to see him at all so Aedus gave Akshay the thumbs up. and then began nodding when she asked about the job, though based on the hello nurse, she was already in, with out his help… She then asked about the job and so he nodded up and down vigorously, it was a bit silly, but to be fair Akshay had been flapping and was within a comic shop, the silly gloves were off. He stood back and watched the pair.
Aedus proceeded to browse while the pair talked shop.
( I think I will let you guys go back and forth until the deal is done, if that’s cool.I don't want to keep slowing you guys down.)
Aedus had promised that he would behave, it and was a hard promise to keep except for the delicate woman riding with him on the motorcycle, He got a second helmet, it was pink and had hello kitty on it, he would feel bad if chase had to put the thing on, but it was a selling point for ladies. You get to wear an adorable helmet....you just have to hug me the whole time we travel anywhere. Motorcycles were genius! He had to explain that he was indeed Aedus when he went to pick her up, he explained about how his mutation worked, it was only fair, she had displayed hers and he figured it wouldn’t hurt to show that other mutants had it hard, maybe not as hard as her, but not easy either.
The road through the new York streets at reasonable speed and they made their way to the mansion. Upon pulling up, events were getting under way. So Aedus parked out of the way on the drive and left the bike there, he glanced around a bit for anyone who might object, but no one did.
" You could hold your head, where it normally goes, might change the effect a little bit, but if you don't want to report or deal with questions, you could pretend to cry over there and let me handle the rest." He looked closely for the first time at some stitches that he was making a point to not notice earlier in the evening. “I am a fair hand at sewing, I'd be glad to do the stitches for you, I bet its hard working on yourself. if I am never not around I could give you a few numbers of some family that would be sympathetic to the situation..most of mine are x gene positive so, there isn't a lot we haven't seen.
Aedus shook his head. " I think it is reasonable that we insist they aren't taking us anywhere, it was cab last time, this time the police. Nah we can work the Angle."
The officer drew a pistol and looked at the ground, Aedus rose his hands only to be crashed into by a hug From Lydia. He pat her on the back we are ok.
“Thanks for showing up Fellas. But unfortunately we couldn’t wait, they had rifles, and were going to use them to cage us and then butcher us. That guy right there is your best and only lead. Maybe another in the back “he added thinking about the shock on Emily’s face momentarily at the bodies. He nodded to Pig. He was giving up their sniffer to track down the doctor but it was the only chance they had not taking a ride to answer questions. “That guy was how they were finding their victims and they apparently were working out of this place.
A female officer with MRC badge walked over and kicked at pig to get up, apparently Lydia had done some of the ground work for them. Another officer walked up and shook his hand.
“Look I realize you guys will have questions, but I just want to get these two home right now. Is there any chance we could go ahead and get home?” He would be handing those questions over to his brother and the family lawyer. He could sense what people believed, he could change tactics on the fly when a jury wasn’t taking the bait, and he had a very good record. They wouldn’t be seeing any charges for these bastards.
Aedus nodded and tried not to stare. “ I don’t know to be honest, we could wait, and that bastard could come back with more thugs. “ He glanced at the ground toward the men that he had ended. “ I was trying to get to you. “ he started to make an excuse but changed his mind. ”I’ve got a feeling mutants might be better off with them dead though.”
Aedus nodded and then looked to pig. “its not your fault, we both did what we had to, but I bet we know someone who could find him.” his glowing eyes closed almost nearly to slits, he was going to a restaurant with two lovely mutant ladies and this is how it turned out.
He turned his head and looked to Emily’s eyes, ”is there anything I can do to help?”
Aedus wanted nothing more than to Help Emily, no one was going into that chair if he could help it, no one was getting cut cut cut. Aedus however didn’t count on what happened next. He doubted he was bullet proof, so far he had only tested thing like slamming his arm in a door, and charging a wall as hard as he could, both times he hadn’t been any worse for wear. He went free running and would trip and fall on purpose. Allowing his environment to do its worst and yet he was fine each and every time.
The men shot a taser at him, but in this form he was always grounded and the sharp points merely bounced off. When they fell to his feet and lit up pig, the men didn’t seem to care, he wondered if they treated this mutant finding man any better than those he tracked. He doubted it. since one of the gun wielding men went with Emily he only had to deal with one with an automatic weapon.
As he thought they might they sent the man without the gun to deal with him and the other to cover. It was foolish because it offered Aedus a shield, Aedus put all of his increased weight into a hard right cross, his stone hand slammed into the man’s head, but to his credit he only seemed dizzied. He was blinking away the stars but he was still up.
The obsidian man grabbed the human’s arm and twisted him in a circle to face the man with the gun and rushed him forward. He was happy to find that they valued each other more than they valued pig. The man didn’t unleash a volley of bullets on them, thankfully. He tossed the dizzy man forward into the other and lunged for the man with the rifle. He raised the barrel of the gun to the sky with his right hand and slashed at the man’s throat with his left, with his fingers out stretched.
It wasn’t something he liked to do, he would happily leave everyone alive but, they certainly were not playing by the same rules.
When Aedus realized that he was completely made of obsidian he read about the properties. One thing he always came across was the leaps and bounds medical treatments were able to make in surgery due to obsidian scalpels, you see when obsidian is sharpened it cuts cleaner than any other blade in the world. So while he left his right hand alone, he sharpened the nails on his left hand into dangerous razors. The man slumped to the ground and the other man looked up.
“Mercy?” the man said groggily as if that first punch still had him dizzy. It only took a moment to realize how much mercy they gave others. His left arm raised and slashed down at the man’s neck and opened his throat to.
He pushed the dying man out of his way and sprinted toward the door. He stopped in his tracks as the door burst open and the woman from earlier was standing there…with her head under one arm and a gun under the other.
His Jaw dropped in shock until his eyes met hers. “Are you ok?” he was dumbfounded and only had a stupid question for her…though this did make the earlier situation on Broadway a bit clearer.
