The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He looked at her a bit puzzled by the statement of might have signed up for a seafood service, one that she apparently didn’t know how to follow through on, she had seafood delivered to her locker, and she wasn’t sure why. She was interesting he would have to give her that. “That’s good, because seafood sounds delicious. Looks like we both need a lesson on what to do after we boil these bad boys. Add butter and lemon I think. I’m not quite a chef, but I think I qualify for cook status.” He hadn’t cooked Lobster on his own, He was pretty sure most crustacean-ish seafood was strait forward, throw it in a pot of hot water, wait till it changes color and dipping stuff. If not, well that’s what the internet was for
Aedus nodded to the admission that a cab was fine, if she was worried about fair, well he wasn’t he’d take care of it, if she wasn’t stubborn. He had an ace up his sleeve if she was. He didn’t make a argument out of the door opening though it crossed his mind, She wouldn’t have opened the door for him if she didn’t want to. “Thanks. He said getting into the car. “ 72nd’ and 3rd, please Jerome. I wasn’t going to leave the episode to chance, Noel. I checked out some dvd’s at the library.”
The cabbie knew his streets Aedus noted, they were probably the next most competent profession at navigating the streets of New York aside from Currier’s, curriers of course had the advantage of knowing off roads paths and shortcuts as well, they sped along toward his apartment. He looked to the woman next to him, He would have discussed what he had planned, but didn’t want to needlessly spread the fact that she couldn’t read.
“Noel Gage, I like it.” His eyebrows rose as he took the bag of Lobsters. “ I will have to look up a recipe but I can certainly figure out how to cook them up, unless they’re pets…?" He said as he was a bit flabbergasted by the greeting. But hey he had stuff that would go along with the Lobsters, he had plenty of veggish sides.
“I’m up for my apartment, so long as you are.” And then his eyebrows were jumping into the air again at her answer. “ that’s cool, maybe you could teach me how to shoot?” He had recently acquired a revolver in a scuffle and wasn’t by any means a marksmen, he knew his way around a handgun, but had little actual practice, so if she had tips, he could use them. Not that he had much use for handguns, then again, he was supposed to help stop a unicorn apocalypse. So, it couldn’t hurt.
Joke or not Aedus decided to address it as she seemed a bit more on edge. “I assure you I’m a gentleman Noel, I wouldn’t try anything.” He paused thinking about that for a moment."Unless, it was a mutual, thing.” He watched her out of his peripherals to see how she took that.
“I figured we’d take a cab unless you’re more comfortable with the subway.” He awaited her preference of travel this time of night a cab would be a bit quicker, but if she wanted to postpone being alone with him, he’d understand.
Aedus leaned up against a column as he waited for Noel, he showed up a little bit early in case she decided a night with him and education wasn’t that great of an idea after all. He had been a busy man, He had a stocked fridge with a few meal contingencies, in case she was a vegetarian or vegan, or if she just wanted a snack. Regardless he had food covered. He studied some about how to teach a person to read and where to start.
He picked up a couple of kids dvd’s along with a few movies that he double checked to make sure they had subtitles. He also picked up a stack of books and a couple of those activity books he wanted to find, which was a bit tricky and finally he made himself presentable. He had all of the study material in a back pack in case she opted to not visit his place in which case he stocked up on non bachelor food for nothing and further more he cleaned for nothing.
He was still a bit casual as he had planned for a night in, he wore a light brown form fitting tee shirt and dark blue jeans, his hair was just the right amount of messy. He stopped leaning on the column as Ms.Gage exited the building. “Evening Ms.Gage, It occurs to me I still don’t know your first name.“It wasn’t quite a request for her first, more a simple observation. He could happily go on calling her just that it had a certain ring to it.
“So, are we heading to my apartment or?” He paused to wait for other options.
Apparently this operation had more than one physic which made an odd sort of sense that one would be able to find the other or find each other as the future pushed them toward one another.
Aedus allowed a hopeful expression to take his face as she blushed and attempted to protest.“More probable now that we’ve seen it, I would think.”
“I’ve got don’t have reason not to believe it, and it lines up ridiculously well with a dream I once had. You got my past down well enough anyhow. Wait, I need a blonde to be a mutant? I never came across that before.” He studied biochemistry He was taught that it was typically moments of intense pressure that brought out reluctant x-genes. Though, he supposed blondes might be able to do just that, His emerald orbs went back to Katrina.
“She’s a blonde.” Stating the obvious, but he found that sometimes the obvious got you a better clarification on particulars, For instance, if Katrina qualified as a mutant making blond or not.
“So, I am on the side that stops unicorns from starting apocalypses.” His tone sounded as if he was taking a moment to soak it all in, he looked back and forth between the two to make sure they weren’t just jacking with him at this point. Once he saw no hint of mischief between the two of them he took a deep breath and released it. “ Ok, well, while in general I do my best not to fight Unicorns, I have a standing stop the apocalypse if possible rule, so yeah. I’m in.”
“Good Call.” He nodded to Agnes’s suggestion and listened Idly as Agnes told her tale, Was that how it went for mutants? He wondered how many of the homeless were mutants and why? Surely, there were those that could use their talents for employment. Not the he could blame them for being cautious about their abilities and if this was still a valid reaction on the street, then perhaps he could understand it more. It made him want to start an agency for out of work mutants or something… He got a cab to stop for him and he loaded his bike into the trunk.
“ Chinese is good. “ He glanced around orienting himself to where he was and where the closest place was, hmmm, a buffet would be ideal, that way the kid could eat as much as he like without being shy about ordering, and so could Agnes for that matter. Adrenaline worked up an appetite and that little episode had definitely been exciting. the wild things you could get mixed up in the city.
He opened the door for the pair allowing them to get in, in the order they preferred, he heard that Agnes indeed had a place to stay, but he was curious…A school for mutants? A place that just took in teens and kids in off the street no questions asked. He was skeptical and then he had to smile at himself hadn’t he just offered the same. “ I’d like to see the school too, if that’d be alright.”
Aedus leaned forward glancing at the cab driver Id on the dash. “Will you take us to the best Chinese buffet around here James?” The cabbie nodded, his eyes flicked over them to make sure that they were settled and then dived into traffic.
He nodded to her skepticism of PBS and smiled. “An offer you can’t refuse, I’ll take it. I’ll meet you just outside.” He noticed that she was all business and decided to go with it; if she wanted to keep the meet up from Sue’s attention he wouldn’t blame her. He waited for Ms. Gage to exit the elevator and then slung the bike up to its perch.
“Have a good day Sue, Ms.Gage.” He waved a casual good bye and began to make his escape of another office and to the freedom of the streets. He got off around five so that would give him plenty of time to prepare his apartment, stop by the library, pick up the necessary transcripts and dvd’s, stop by the bookshop and see if they had those little practice to write booklet things or anything else he could think of. He would also have time to prepare something to eat sense she was getting off late and probably won't have had dinner yet.
Whipping his body in a circle at the sharp pinpoint of pain Aedus’s Fist was raised and he nearly took a shot at a man that was behind him just because he was closest to him and he was expecting the heartless bow headed wench to be behind him and while he wasn’t willing to provoke her in the restaurant, he certainly wasn’t going to just let her stab him in the street. He pulled his punch even after the male he almost mistook for his target started cursing at him.
He reached back toward his left shoulder blade and plucked the bone dart from his shoulder. Still glaring in the woman’s direction, he wouldn’t have noticed the number if it wasn’t for the fact that a small smear of blood trailed across the area code to what he presumed was her number. She would regret it, was this a reply to his comment about being fearless? He turned again to walk away wondering if her mutation stopped at bone dart projectiles, or if he would be dying of some poison, or even a disease that her bones may have carried over. He couldn’t and wouldn’t do something about it just now, but if she was so careless with others lives, perhaps he would make her fear for her own.
When he got home he would have to see if the area around the jab was infected, it didn’t feel like it went in too deep, and the phone number indicated she thought he’d be around to give her a call. Briefly he wondered if he would have gotten the number any other way. He sighed as he walked away, oddly glad that the pickup attempt hadn’t gone well, what if she fell for him and then he had a serial killer girlfriend. That couldn’t end well. It still probably wouldn’t for one of them.
An almost feral look crawled upon his face as she started using the curves that he had moments ago enjoyed, she sashayed her way closer to him. "ah, you seemed confident like something as lowly as me couldn't bother something as important as you. I guess you weren't as fearless as you seemed. So be it, I'll work for it and find you all the same." He held and opened the door for the...woman. "if you did, it would save me the trouble." a parting quip as he followed her out the door and began to walk away.
In the back of his mind his sanity was screaming at him. Shut the hell up and quit mocking a murderer, a news worthy murderer. Why was he taking it so personal...He would find her and he would teach her the error of her ways. HE felt like a burning need.. She was the wrong in this world, she was what made those pathetic bastards attack Chase, she was going to pay. just as soon as he could find a way to make her.
She leaned forward like a cat with a mouse and he knew immediately that there was nothing salvageable here. A good man was only worth his actions. Or so his grandfather had told him.
A frustrated huff puffed from Aedus’s nostrils as he listened patiently to her rant. Aedus stood up deliberately slow, opened his wallet and tossed forty dollars on the table. “I don’t hate you, I don’t fear you, I pity you and your friends that accept it. If you think killing people makes you matter, you’re wrong and you are sick. Unfortunately, I’m not going to do a damn thing about it though. At least not today.” He looked into the cool chocolate eyes once more and shook his head. They used to be so sexy, her pouty lips, delicious. Now all he saw was something he desperately wanted to smash. He turned on his heal and began to walk away.
He had to find away to get Faust pharmaceuticals to give him what he needed. Isabel needed a firm hand, he was pretty sure an obsidian one would do the trick. Sorry, Grandpa I am only words today, but he would be damned if he didn’t figure out how to take action. He stopped and turned toward her once more. “ Hey Isabel, where can I find you? For when I do want to play.”
His eyes popped open in surprise at her tone, it was like she had come to life, her bored and unamused demeanor evaporated, like the soda the sprayed out in a sticky mist.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to spell it out for you after all,"
His eyes settled but his left eyebrow arched in curiosity over her tone and what he heard next was appalling.
"I'm Isabel. People don't like me. People are afraid of me. I'm one of New York's Most Wanted criminals. I'm on the news all the time because I kill people."
Fight or flight, fight or flight, fight or flight….Fight. if it came to that. His eyebrows came crashing down in what his father would call the look half annoyance half anger. He was throwing that calendar away. When he was a teen His father left him to his angst if it was on his face.
God, anger made him stupid. “Really? Are you proud of that? People don’t like you. Does that feel good? People are afraid of you. And you like it? is that why you were annoyed with me I wasn’t running the other direction?” His hands gripped the edge of the table so that his knuckles were turning white. “You’re a wanted criminal and a killer and proud of it?” The last was said in a mixture of disbelief and foolish outrage.
His eyes bore into her, it was something that he wanted to hear from the wicked, he always wanted the bad guys to feel remorse. “Really?”
Why wasn’t he a mutant yet? Why hadn’t he brought that handgun, why hadn’t Jude warned him about today..a bead of sweat was growing on his forehead and his hands grew slick with anticipation of how this might escalate. Was this what the world was trying to make Chase into?
Aedus looked to the Boy and listened to his she attempt at accepting. He then thought about everything a kid should learn, not to talk to strangers, don’t take candy, don’t trust, don’t trust, don’t trust. He was smart enough not to just jump on it that was a good thing. He saw the doubt in his eyes.
He looked to the young woman and felt sympathy for her as well, she felt genuine sympathy because she’d been there, why was the world like this? He then looked to the kid and his request; he had a feeling that the young woman had a place to stay as she used a past tense in that she was in his predicament.
His eyes met hers and a spark of mischief shown. “You know what after today and what I have seen of both of you, My door is open to both of you. Always.” He nodded simply deciding it. His apartment was lonely.
“I have a couple of extra keys. If you do need a place to stay I won’t say no.” He told Agnes boldly, he then looked at the boy again.
“And if you are being cautious, well I won’t make you stay, I can’t make you stay. But I will give you a key and make sure you know where I live, if you are ever hungry or you decide you would like to stay, then just unlock the door and make yourself at home. Now then what do you guys feel like having for lunch?” He waved down a cab as he awaited their answers.
“No, not really, If I hadn’t realized that Leaner was right in front of your face and we did a lap around the cubicles, I wouldn’t have guess, Maybe if you came off as ditzy, or you were squinting I would have thought you had vision problems or just been bored or something. But you seem sharp. Look, its not something to be embarrassed about, you can learn and I could help. It could be fun.” Aedus then shook his head It might take some pressure off her so he confessed..
“and no I don’t watch sesame street to often, particular where jollies are involved. Believe it or not Someone showed me the future, we watch sesame street together, I think its fate. Seeing that also helped me piece together why we were watching it.”
He looked down at his feet and the bell dinged announcing that they were back on the first floor.
“Hmmm, well I can’t say I watch much tv. I don’t really read magazines or newspapers often, I read books pretty often.in general I seize the day. I know I have seen you somewhere and I now I realize where.” And it wasn’t the realization she was trying to lead him to. His hand went nervously to the back of his head and pet the fuzziness of his haircut almost as if he were shy. Of course the fact that he picked her out of a crowd and was dancing around the subject had nothing to do with it. He listened as she said she was unpopular and he was perplexed by that, he hadn’t ever heard of a swimsuit model becoming unpopular due to her profession. But then the proof was all around him.
“No, it hasn’t escaped my notice, but after you said you could take care of yourself I am trying not to make an issue out of it.” He stated that in a way that said he very much wanted to put them in their place. “ I don’t see why a bathing suit calendar would make you unpopular though, I mean the pictures are flattering and not any more revealing than Maxiumus magazine. I get it if you don’t want random guys coming up to you drooling, I’m sure it gets old. But you seem interesting, and I for one would like to get to know you.”
“That was the future,” “At least, possible scenes from the future.”
Aedus sat on the floor dumbfounded. He shivered for a moment even with all of the other fantastic events that he saw, the woods still got to him. He took a deep breath, counted to 15, another deep breath and counted to 13, another deep breath and counted to 6 another deep breath and counted down from 3. If it looked odd to the two, well they could deal with it, as he counted down over and over in the odd pattern that Dr.Namore had instructed him, he also eavesdropped. It had to do with Hypno therapy and things she had helped him work threw subconsciously. Whatever helped him act rationally? “Did you know that would happen, when he touched me?” "Huh." "Guess he iz on our side." "You saw?" "But you were in his future. Did you see zat one or was zat because he touched you?" "Sorry for not asking first." “nah, you’re a psychic, so you probably saw I would have refused ,right? Cause I would have.” he said rising to his feet. “ I mean no offense, but the fakes are giving you a bad reputation.” He thought briefly about his first girlfriend Monique, hIs first love? Daniela. He thought about Chase and Agnes. A dark haired hottie and sesame street. hmmm. Some beardy guy and a foosball table, it seemed almost friendly. Mostly friendly? His eyes flashed to Katrina’s Face and he wondered how he got from here, to there, that spot in the shared daydream? Where they were pleasantly close and a flower almost between them, He swallowed hard. “Um, heres the thing. I want to belive what you showed me. I do.” A quick glance at Katrina. ‘ but I’m not a mutant, I mean it looks fun and all but I’ve done the test to see if it was possible, I mean there is still plenty we don’t know about the X-gene so I won’t say it’s impossible, but Improbable that it would happen this late in life. Also, if I am on your side, what side would that be exactly and of what?”
He looked between the two and briefly wondered if these two were an item, cause if so that would explain Jude’s odd looks that he was giving.
The Irishman led the way to the elevator, he let her follow along without any ploys or tricks, and he would be strait forward and if he insulted her, well, his intentions were good. Once in the elevator he took a deep breath. He pushed the door close button without pushing the level.
“First, my request. Would you watch Sesame Street with me?” He asked this first because he knew that she would, or at least according to a Frenchmen she would, or might, possibly. Prophecies were cumbersome.
“And my question, well I don’t quite know how to put it, but well, do you know how to read?” he held up his hand first to ward off outrage or offense .”If not I’d like to help you learn.” He said the last as he winced and looked like he was getting ready to be slapped or something. He didn't understand how someone got by without learning to read. Sitting down with a good fat book was the best.
His finger slid down to the floor level button and poked it.
