The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It took all sorts of people to make the world go round. Most people fell on some sort of continuum of tendencies and preferences, but sometimes you were met by different polarities of beliefs and values. For example, there were mutant-haters as well as mutant-lovers. Gina was mid-sip when someone who apparently belonged to the latter category addressed her... at least, using context clues, that's what Gina thought. It was hard to say, given how unintelligible the sentence was.
>> “I’m horny, your name is wings are cool? “
Whatever the desired effect had been... whether it was to compliment the features the gargoyle had been born with, or to announce that said features aroused the woman who had addressed her, was beyond Gina. Maybe it was their first time talking to a visible mutant? Regardless, the result was Gina choking on her smoothie. She clapped a hand to her mouth to hide the fact that peanut butter-chocolate smoothie was now dribbling down her chin.
>> “Not what I meant to say. At. All.“
Gina mopped at her chin, unable to stop the chuckle from escaping her.
"That's quite the introduction," she commented, no judgement in her tone. Her eyes passed over the girl who'd spoken. She had a small face, like Gina's, but was a little taller. Gina was no stranger to people getting tongue-tied around her... and she wouldn't condemn someone for trying to be personable.
"Gina," she said simply, touching a hand to her own sternum as a means of signifying an introduction, "Do you go to NYU?" It was a big enough school, clsoeby to where they were, and thus a distinct possibility.

The gargoyle had a hankering for a smoothie. Thankfully, the city had no shortage of smoothie shops to choose from. Rather than flying to one of her favorites, Gina wandered just off campus. She'd followed a pack of classmates, but dismissed herself I the interest of getting a drink.
“I'll catch you guys later,” she called, disappearing into the shop. The process of acquiring a drink was punctuated by occasional peeks at her phone, a quick text to Nessa… but then the gargoyle was on her way again.
She took comfort in the frosty chocolate-peanut butter beverage, her tail curling with delight. This wasn't the kind of thing you could fly with. So, Gina found a bench and stepped up onto it. She settled into a seating position, crossing her legs beneath her. This was the good life. She took another sip. Maybe she could work on her sketches for fashion design?
She also didn't want to put her drink down, though. The struggle was so real.
Truth be told, Khalil hated Halloween-- absolutely hated it. It was the one night a year where humans and human-passing mutants got to pretend to be something they weren't, and full-time physical mutants, for the most part, stayed in. Just as with black cats, physical mutants had statistically higher incidences of violence committed against them on Halloween night.
Khalil's narcissism occasionally outweighed his sensibility, however, and he would don something with spikes, straps, and very little else, and trek to the nearest 21+ Halloween party at a nightclub. (One year, he opted for a sexy pharaoh outfit with thick gold armbands.) He'd have his fun, maybe hook up with someone, commit a small act of arson… but beyond wearing far too little clothing, it was nothing more than a standard night on the town.
This year… maybe this year would be different. It started when Stephanie came to request a night off, with her daughter. For trick-or-treating. It came as no surprise to anyone that Poseidon made her take a chaperone. What did come as a surprise was that he chose Khalil to be her escort. He could barely contain his excitement. Khalil never got to work with Stephanie, and here he was now, accompanying them.
He'd be a fool to just think of it as an outing together, though. And any inkling that it was, was quickly dispelled by the iron clasp of Poseidon’s hand upon his shoulder and a terse, “If anything happens… anything at all… it's on your head.”
He tried to put that conversation in the furthest recesses of his mind. Tonight, he wanted to live vicariously through Malia and Stephanie’s night out. He'd never trick-or-treated as a kid, after all, and he'd far surpassed the window of “ages appropriate to trick-or-treating”.
Khalil kept a polite distance, as a father might do while his wife and child were going door-to-door for candy, partaking in various carnival activities, et cetera. In the spirit of the season, he'd donned a (publicly presentable) skeleton costume, complete with face paint. He'd even painted his tail to look bony and jointed.
In terms of Khalil's usual disposition, he was noticeably withdrawn… but there was something sanctimonious about mother-daughter time that even the demon didn't want to disrupt. He did, however, catch up to his mark when the two women came to an abrupt halt.
“Whaaaat the-” he trailed, following their line of vision. There was something churning in the darkness, like tentacles but not-quite-solid, and it reached towards them. Khalil jumped as the cold washed over him, setting his teeth on-edge.
Stephanie reassured her daughter, but there was edge in her voice that was undeniable.
“Stephanie,” Khalil said gently, his tail twitching in agitation, “Let's… let's get outta here. Something isn't right.”
Khalil-- Mr. Everything's Fun, Mr. Can't Take Anything Seriously-- was feeling uneasy. His heart was hammering uselessly against his ribs, but he wouldn't deign to admit that, particularly not to Stephanie.
The gargoyle smiled, resting her head against Nessa as the older woman artfully deflected Gina's dismissive remark. Maybe they were both just cool people, completely independent of one another, and it had nothing to do with the other's positive influence. Sure, Gina could accept that. Or rather, she was just too cozy to debate. Gina squirmed a bit when Nessa grabbed her butt, but the gesture earned a conciliatory chuckle.
The gargoyle wasn't necessarily as cerebral as her girlfriend, but she listened as Nessa vented about her concerns... about how the whole thing made her so happy, and how it scared her to think of it ending. Gina traced one of Nessa's collarbones, tilting her head to look up at her.
"I try to just enjoy it for what it is," the gargoyle purred, "In this very moment."
There was no judgment in her tone. She wasn't chastising Vanessaa in the least. It was just who Gina was. She wasn't up in her own head too much, becasue she was too busy looking outwardly. Gina kissed Nessa's cheek, because it felt like the right thing to do-- and, as mentioned before, Nessa had very kissable cheeks.
"That makes sense, though," Gina affirmed her girlfriend's concerns, "No one wants a good thing to end."
For example... Gina didn't want these cozy cuddles to end, either. But her bladder had other plans. And try as she might to fight it...
"Ugh," the gargoyle groaned, interrupting the comfortable, warm snuggles, "Be right back. Gotta go potty."
Thanks, nature. You're a pal. Carefully, the gargoyle disentangled herself, but not with momentarily flopping on the brunette for another moment of complaining. The momentary sulking led to hastily wriggling into panties and her shirt (They were alone but, when one lived with three roommates, old habits died hard.) and an even hastier retreat from the bedroom into the bathroom. Both doors were gently shut behind the gargoyle as she went.
Nessa made a good pillow-- like, a really good pillow. While Gina was predisposed to be the temperature of the room around her, Nessa was warm. In this sense, the gargoyle was almost reptilian, for she glommed onto the warmest body in the room. She might have, maaaaaaaaybe dozed off, her face nestled into the crook of her girlfriend's neck. Gina was quite wrapped-around Nessa, her avian feet hitting the Nessa's calves, her tail wrapped casually around one of Nessa's ankles. One hand was draped loosely to the side, while the other had wrapped itself around Nessa's waist (and was starting to go very, very numb).
The brush against Gina's leg made the gargoyle stir, and Nessa's voice reverberated against the gargoyle's ear. Brown eyes remained closed, but Gina smiled in acknowledgement.
>> ”You’re so smoooooth. And soft, and perfect. That was… really perfect, Gina.”
A groggy chuckle escaped the gargoyle. What'd you say to that? She kissed Nessa's cheek.
"Oh stooooop," the gargoyle teased, in a voice that said she really didn't want Nessa to stop. Another kiss. Nessa had pretty kissable cheeks. Then again, Nessa was just a very kissable person overall, "It was pretty perfect, though..."
They'd apparently had quite a bit to get out of their system. Nessa kissed the gargoyle's forehead, and Gina looked up at her quietly.
>> ”You’re way too easy to fall for, you know.”
"So I've heard," the gargoyle murmured, amused. It was true-- Gina was popular with boys and girls like, for any number of reasons. People took a shine to her personality, to her physique, to her mutation-- or any combination of the three. She wasn't an easy person to hate (unless, of course, you were anti-mutant). The gargoyle tried to redirect the attention-- though she loved the shear adoration that Nessa was lavishing upon her, she could dwell for too long as the center of attention. It felt weird not to reciprocate.
"I think it's just the people I surround myself with," Gina murmured. Every few words, she peppered Nessa's neck with butterfly kisses, "Maybe you just bring out the best in me, 'cuz you're so awesome..."
It felt gratuitously cheesy to say, but in the spirit of building each other up, it needed to be said.
All of my characters can use a little love, so I'm putting out a request for threads. Below are links to their profiles, and I will also explain where they're at in the plot and the threading capabilities for each.
"Chief" : She's living in the apartment affiliated with Haven, continuing her managerial job at Inferno. Unfortunately she has not been active at Xavier's, because she's worried about how volatile her power might be. (And, since Blue-- her AV!self-- was killed in the conflict that sparked her power growth, most who know her believe her to be dead.) ((Jack thinks Blue was Jude, but don't be fooled, it wasn't!!))
Since I've been inactive with all the characters, too, I'm going to say that Jack has been having a difficult time "reintegrating" or "rejoining" society, as an excuse for not having any recent threads with her. So if you want a thread with a skulking, hulking monster to accidentally scare your character, lemme know!
Gina Schuyler : Gina is pretty much open to anything. Lives at Honeycomb, volunteers at Xavier's, attending school for Fashion as well Social Work at NYU. Also, no stranger to parties, trouble, or making friends... or any combination of the three! This gargoyle gets around! Her AV!self, Khalil, is also up for a similar gamut of threads... although he might be more predisposed to "trouble", given his affiliation with the Syndicate and life of crime. Khalil is a narcissist and likely to flirt with anyone who seems eligible. Operative word "seems".
Chase Taylor : Despite the fact that he's only twelve, this human-shifter can find his fair share of trouble. Even though Chase is oftentimes antisocial or ... you know, a tween, there are plenty of factors that can motivate him to approach someone. This kid is OBSESSED with physical mutants. He's also no stranger to wandering off, climbing trees, and all around just... being twelve? His AV!Self, Delta Seven, is a nameless tool of SUPER who was recently snagged by the AV!X-Men.
@humanwill : Doesn't really need threads because he's a "free human" but I didn't want to exclude him. > 3 > A good cop with a good heart, and just a little bit of anti-mutant prejudice. Despite the bro-iest of bro auras he's also bi. Please give Matt Damon some love. lol
If you're interested, comment below or PM the account you're interested in! I'd love to thread with you! And honestly, if you're new, don't hesitate! I can thread with basically anyone. (Fear not!)
The gargoyle's face felt like a heat lamp from how flushed it was. Sure, she'd been with quite a few people, casually, but this... this felt different. Nessa responded with her own retaliation, and Gina helpfully inclined her head. Nessa tugged at her shirt, and a shiver ran through Gina-- probably more from hormones than from any sort of chill.
Gina fumbled with her shirt in an attempt to help Nessa remove it, but the kisses addled her coordination and led her to practically tear at the fabric, the snaps clicking free consecutively, until her wings (and chest) were free of the cotton confines of the halter tee.
>> ”Okay then… we’re going… to do… so much… studying… tonight.”
Gina's breath caught, half-lidded eyes following Nessa's wandering kisses. A gently insistent tail had gathered a ball of fabric near the hem of Nessa's shirt, and was also trying to pull the article free. One hand was propped against the mattress, her other hand knotted in Nessa's hair. While standing-by powerless to the brunette's kisses was all well and good, the gargoyle also wanted to do some of the (okay, no, a lot of the) kissing. A gentle but insistent hand unknotted itself and caught the venturing brunette's chin.
Gina kissed Nessa hungrily, a smile tinging her lips. She was damn right, they'd do so much studying.

Khalil listened as the man explained how he'd acquired his pets-- or, at the very least, alluded to them. He had a gift and was not, as Khalil had momentarily entertained, a zookeeper. That made him infinitely more worth Khalil's while, and not just some human to be played.
"Of all the animals to go for," Khalil mused, leaning closer, "You chose wild ones... that's very audacious of you... what compelled you to do that, I wonder? A love of danger?"
Primal was boasting about his power, and Khalil was playing the part of an interested companion. He was also, however, sizing the man up. When you belonged to certain criminal outfits like the scarlet-skinned man did, you were always keeping your eyes open for... well, busienss ventures. New blood. A connection.
Or perhaps he was just looking to have fun, and was stoking Primal's ego in an attempt to get the embers of his interest to flicker to life.
The waitress returned with drinks.
"Here we are, boys," she said in that nasaly, brassy voice of hers. Coasters were set-out near the fire, and drinks were deposited. Khalil was delighted to see that his drink looked appropriately fruity, "Give me a holla if ya need anything else."
Khalil leaned forward, lifting his drink. He proffered the glass to Primal, silently requesting a toast.
The gargoyle was putty in her girlfriend's hands, grey clay ready to be cast into a kiln or... something like that. She was so lost in the kiss and, God, Nessa's hands, that it was hard to really think about... much of anything. Nessa's hands found her waist, and the gargoyle's fingers tugged lightly-- encouragingly-- at the the brunette's hair. She barely contained the shiver that ran through her when Nessa's hand brushed against her stomach.
>> ”So this homework… how important is it?”
"Homework?" Gina echoed, unraveling her fingers momentarily. Her tone was that of someone unfamilmiar with the term. Homework, it seemed to ask? What homework? She wanted to say something enticing, something witty, but her brain had so quickly settled into this comfortable fog, that it was really difficult to find... much of anything to say. Her hand slid to the back of Nessa's neck, and Gina leaned forward, her breath teasing Nessa's ear.
"Well... it is for Human Behavior and the Social Environment..." Gina murmured. Yes, that was literally the class for which she was studying... or at least, that she was supposed to be studying for. She burrowed her face in Vanessa's neck, unable to fight the urge to kiss her, before concluding, "I could argue that... this... is studying?"
That was the best that she could do. Honestly, she liked where this was going and... well, it wasn't like there were weekly quizzes on the reading. She could catch-up later. There was a moment of lucidity where Gina chuckled at her own rationale, peppering her girlfriend in more kisses.

Khalil nodded skyward at June's inquiry, towards the roof that his companion was so concerned about reaching.
"We should find somewhere flat to land," the cat-eyed man crooned, "A rooftop or a patio." some of these glass-walled buildings had uneven sides with picnic benches placed on fenced outcroppings. Either that, or it'd be a roof.
"Otherwise, we're clinging to spires like the little devils that we are," Khalil concluded. His eyes swept the surface of the building, looking for some blemish in the facade, something that would suggest a place to land. There was no such outcropping.
"The roof," Khalil decided, "Bank upwards."
Nearly every building had rooftop access. And with such... incendiary... talents as his, he could make fast work of any lock they had. Though he instructed June to bank upwards, he waited for her to make the first move-- if there were any flukes, he would catch her.

Gina, blissfully obvlivious, watched as Vanessa readjusted herself, leaning against the wall.
"Mm, good point," the gargoyle agreed. Sweet potato fries weren't as good cold. They needed to put a dent in these bad boys. Gina grabbed a pair of fries-- dipping one in ketchup, eating it, then dipping the other in aioli. There had to be some balance.
She resumed reading as she munched on the aioli-dipped fry, a small smile on her face. This had to be the best part about being in a relationship-- all the cute little mundane things that were suddenly way more interesting. A study session turned into a somewhat-cuddle session with fries! A chance to be in the company of one of your favorite people! How novel was that?
Nessa proffered a fry, which earned a bigger smile from the gargoyle, as well as her attention.
"Thanks, babe," Gina said, taking an appreciative bite of fry. She felt some aioli dribble and, in embarassment, began to raise her hand, "Can't take me anywh-"
That was when Nessa licked her. Just. Outright licked her. Gina froze, a flush creeping into her cheeks. It didn't take long for the gargoyle to catch-on to Vanessa's antics, a grin trying to fight its way through all the licks. Her cheeks were luminously flushed.
"Shameless-" she chastised, in a voice that wasn't even remotely admonishing. Any further teasing reprimands were quickly swallowed, however, when Nessa bit her lip. A surprised shiver ran down the gargoyle's tail. Gina couldn't very-well leave that unanswered. She combed a hand through the fellow brunette's hair, gently pulling her closer, and Gina met Vanessa's feathery touches with her own, soft response. Their lips met. Nessa was irresistible, and Gina was powerless to her pull.
The book was set aside, pen still tucked where the pages met, and another taloned hand found its way into Nessa's hair. Gosh, her hair was soft. An inquiring tongue licked Nessa back.

A chuckle escaped Khalil, and he looked at Primal through his lashes, allowing the man to dote upon him and shower him with kisses. The narcissist loved to have affection and attention lavished upon him, and Primal seemed to be a willing contributor.
"Isn't that what we're doing?" Khalil teased, "Getting to know each other?"
And also, in Khalil's case, extorting unsuspecting young men for drinks. But that was besides the point. A coy, spade-tipped tail flicked and curled, and the firelight flickered in the demon's honey-gold eyes.
"So, they came from the zoo," Khalil reiterated, "Did you train them? Or do you have a gift?"
The word "gift" rolled pregnantly off his tongue, laden with all the necessary implications. "Gifted". As in, a mutation-bearing individual. The scarlet-skinned man would be decidedly more interested if he was in the company of the fellow mutant.

Gina's tail flicked idly, smacking against the surface of the bed with a muffled fwish... fwish... fwish... Though the subject of the text was interesting to her, the practice of actually reading about it was kind-of dry. Gina would get three paragraphs in before her mind would start to wander. Hadn't she already read that line? What were they even talking about. Fwish... fwish... fwish...
"I just didn't want to drip aioli on your sheets," the gargoyle assured her girlfriend, smiling apologetically, "I'm kind-of a slob sometimes..."
But here was Nessa, offering her an aioli-dipped fry, which was carefully clenched in her teeth. The gargoyle's cheeks flushed. Well, what kind of person would be able to say no to that? Gina closed her pen in her book, marking her page. She leaned over, steadying herself with one hand. The other hand cupped Nessa's cheek, and the gargoyle carefully stole a bite of the aioli-dipped fry.
She leaned back, chewing contemplatively. Some of the sauce had dribbled onto her chin, so she wiped it up with her thumb.
"An absolute slob," Gina reiterated, licking her thumb, "Babe, that sauce is delicious."
Gina eyed the plate of fries-- as always, her stomach was bigger than her will to study. Another garlic-dipped fry wouldn't hurt.
