The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She watched as he inspected the DOLL a bit more, and saw the hug coming in time to mentally prepare herself for being picked up and swung around like a DOLL herself.
"Haha! Your welcome! Putmedownyou'regonnasquishme"
It was adorable watching him putter about getting it ready and all, finding the perfect spot on his DOLL shelf, and looking so proud after he was done. She didn't understand a lick of it, but could appreciate it all the same. It's what she had fallen into doing with people, kinda!
"I don't know what mint means." She scratched a cheek, but left it at that. "Anyway! I'll let you get back to cleaning. I just wanted to give your gift to you!"
She turned with a wave, stepped back up barefoot into his couch and tried to walk back through the wall.
Keyword: Tried.
"Ouch!"
Juniper stbled back, windmilling her arms to not fall over, and then rubbed her sore nose and stared at the wall in confusion.
... She could had sworn she had just-
She tried again, snacked into the wall one more time, and hopped back onto the ground to stare at the wall in confusion.
"Well that's weird. Huh. Whatever, guess I'll use the door."
"There's a website where you can go and have your own wrapping paper printed! I just uploaded a picture of your suit and BAM! Xavier themed paper. I have a butt load of it leftover if you want it."
She watched him unwrap his gift, filled to the brim with excitement and anxiety, and just about died at the expression of sheer joy he shot her way.
Success! That online seller wasn't bamboozling her after all!
"I found it online, from a super shady feeling guy that I was sure was going to screw me over, but he didn't! Yay!" She threw her arms up in the air to help him celebrate.
"I had to stalk one of your nerd websites to figure out which one to buy, though. Some of them are super expensive, why is that?"
$15,000 on a doll was like... a lot. A lot a lot. So much dough!
"Nope!" He tried to peek so she moved it away, eventually bringing it out from behind her back but holding it off to the side as if he couldn't easily reach out and grab it.
"Not boxing gloves, either!"
Juniper cringed at the reminder about the pie. He'd been nice and had attempted to eat it anyway, but she'd spirited it away after more than a few bites. His girlfriend had hunted her down at the school later and tried to kick her butt for 'poisoning him'.
... She wasn't gonna attempt one again.
After his last wrong guess, she handed it out to him and plopped it in his hands. She hoped he liked the themed wrapping paper, and definitly hoped he liked the toy. She... wasn't well versed on which ones were special and was more than a little suspicious that she had gotten conned.
Once he had the box she waited in 100 proof, absolute anxiety for him to open it.
She poked her head through first to make sure it was safe. Yup! Just cleaning. No Devil insight.
"Hi!"
She stepped fully through, arms still behind her back, and glanced around. She liked to consider herself a clean person, but Xavier was clean to a whole different level. Like, spotless! It was crazy!
"I just heard you come back and wanted to see how your birthday thing went." That was a normal question, right? "And I got you something! I'm sorry it's late. It took longer than they said it would in the mail, or I would have left it on your couch while you were gone."
He noticed she was hiding something and purposefully shifted away to make sure he couldn't see it yet.
Juniper was new to the gift giving game. Her parents had never been the type to give gifts just for the fun of it. Her mom gifted her old clothes, hair cut, "a roof over your head" and books about plants. She'd never had a birthday, like an honest to goodness birthday with balloons and cake, and wrapped presents.
That had all been packed away with the likes of "frivolous consumerism", right up there with Valentines day, Christmas, Easter, and virtually all recognized celebrations that involved giving, gifting, or buying. The first time she could remember having turkey was a week after thanksgiving, and Bambi's house, and i had been cold and well past expired. She'd stuffed her face and was sick for four days after, but it had been worth it.
You can imagine the stress put on her now, in modern times, while she was fiddling with a package to give to Xavier for his birthday, and she was LATE. That was bad, right? A late gift meant you didn't care, right? It wasn't her fault the shipping had taken three extra days longer than she had been expecting!
Still, anxiety aside, she slapped a store bought bow on his present box, which she had decorated in colored themed paper to match his hero suit, and picked it up.
... Now or never, right?
She headed for their shared wall, fiddling with curling ribbon she didn't know what to do with, and paused to re-think his gift one more time.
It was an original, rare, 'Nude Jude!' Action figure. It... wasn't actually marketed like that by the company, but the online seller had called it that and now it was stuck in her head. The little doll was still in his box, and still had his clothes. According to the seller that was rare, since he was one of the only models with swappable outfits and everyone apparently had a heck of a time keeping clothes on him. She'd been blasted by facts about how, due to his ability to be nude, the company that made had implemented permanently attached undergarments on all future models, as well as the other X's.
It was a very interesting fact.
And now she was gonna give it to Xavier, and hope it was a good gift!
Tucking the box behind her back, she knocked on the wall and waited for a response while rocking in the balls of her feet.
Carrick sang, but his heart clearly wasn't in it. Juniper pouted but relented. "You're welcome, salami."
"Again? Someone put you in a cage at some point before this?" That wasn't kosher. People didn't belong in cages. Heck, animals didn't even belong in cages. "Whose ass do I need to kick?" She would, too. So long as they weren't one of those freaky adapteds.
She fiddled with the light Zek had given her and strapped it on her head. Then took pity on Carrick's poor uncomfortable nude-ness at her own expense and pulled her large hoodie off. "Want me to stick this on you? A sorta-skirt is better than having the sausage and berries free, right?" If agreed, she'd help him get it on without like, invading his boundaries or whatever.
"What do you mean 'like last time'?" She was unaware of what shenanigans Zek got up to with other people.
They came to a fork in the dark, moist, and algae-filled road, and she looked both ways while options were weighed.
A book club sounded boring, even if they had a secret sign in an old sewer tunnel for some reason.
Without waiting for either of them to choose, she slipped on ahead and went in the direction of the 'Welldrinkers' club, or whatever. Maybe it was a group of hippies who were super into natural water sources and not relying on city pipes?
"Oh! right! ZEK!"
Her shout echoed in all three pipes as she whipped back around and speared him in the light of her headlamp. "I have a gift for you!"
Her pink backpack was wriggled around, and she phased her arm to reach inside. There was a metallic jingling, something vibrated for a moment, what sounded like a bag of chips crinkled, and then she ripped her arm back out with a bucket, no, a Bucket!hemlet! in her hand.
"I stole the murder bucket from you and made you a knight hat!" She had no idea what they were supposed to be called.
It was a metal bucket with crude holes carved in it for eyes, parts around the nose and mouth cut and bent away with sharp-looking edges. Nails had been driven into the top and sides for a crude imitation of hair, or spikes, and there were two twirly, spiral drinking straws that popped up at the top and curled around down to where his mouth would be. She tossed it to him via the totally-was-once-a-belt chin strap.
"I looked up a tutorial online and then ran it through google translate a few times until I thought it resembles something you'd like!" She was very proud of herself and it showed through the wide grin she sported as she kept walking, backwards, through the tunnel.

The word "strippers drew her attention and she swiveled around to see what he was talking about, after taking a selfie that had her and Zek, and a glimpse of GreenBoi, and a nice shot of Hotpink!hotpants mid-de-pants.
"...This gonna be like, an 'all at once kinda thing? Are we about to chicken fight in a pool?"
Apparently, they were not.
Smithers blasted her idea out of the water and she withered in her seat, then finally remembered the cup on her head and soothed her wounds with twice the drinkage. It wasn't nearly the same amount that Zek had, but hey, she also didn't have awesome zappy!balls. He droned on about equipment again and Juniper toned him out, tinkering with her phone so she could add funny stickers to the picture she had taken.
Then Elliott shouted and her attention drew back to the group. What was that? They were being hunted? Oh. Well. That sounded like a lot more work than she thought she was originally signed up for. Bummer!
And then the mystery figure un-coated themselves and turned out to be three mutant babies and... oh, well okay. This was gonna be a zany adventure then. Got it. Juniper snuck a suspicious glance at Zek. All of the craziest stuff happened when she ran into him.
She caught the eye of the male swinger, winked at him, watched a real like romance drama break up occur, and hurried to guzzle her hot chocolate and coffee as fast as possible.
Elliott made a swift exit, shouting something that was honestly very accurate, and Bella followed after him.
"...Well that was awkward." She set her empty cups off to the side, stood from her chair, and collected her cartoonishly large zebra floaty. "Guess I'll go then. So... when I win I still get to use the pool, right? Otherwise, it's pretty silly of me to have stolen these floaties from L." She gave it a squeeze and it honked.
She headed for the window, briefly paused to consider how she was gonna get the floaty out without popping it and decided to just phase it through as she stepped out.
"Oh, right," She turned back once outside, looked directly at Jacob, and grinned, "I'm totally gonna bang your ex-wife!" He deserved it, too. Who called their partner a witch like that? Especially one named after a vampire novel?
Juniper took off at an easy sprint, phasing most of her weight away so that she could catch up with Mr. green and Mrs. Swan.
"Even magicians get bored with their own tricks sometimes." She grinned and held the bottle away from him, trying to instigate a playful scuffle.
Card tricks sounded fun, and she had no idea what flash power was. Like... ninja smoke grenade? She made a mental note to ask later, maybe.
They hit the door and he stated the obvious. She gave him a half lidden look and tilted her head. Was he... was he oblivious to everything?
"Closed for normal folk maybe, but not for me~" Pulling her hands out of her pockets, she shook them out and then wiggled her fingers dramatically at the locked door while mumbling gibberish under her breath. After a moment she stopped and tucked her hands back into her pockets.
"There we go. I've opened a portal just for us."
And then she stepped forward through the door and turned to face him on the other side.
After a beat of grinning and waiting to see what he would do, she reached through the door to grab him, phase him, and pull him into the building with her.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist."
The lobby behind them was empty. She headed for the desk in order to grab herself a map of the place and folded it open.
"So where do you wanna go first? I wanna see sharks, but... like, there's a lot in here." Oooh, they had a cafe?!
"Oh, wow, there's like seals and stuff. Heh... last time I saw a seal it shared the @#$% out of my cat." Poor Clyde. Thought he was brave enough to investigate a wild seal at a harbor.
Carrick didn't want the underwear, which were perfectly good and clean, but whatever. She shrugged haplessly.
She turned to follow Zek, taking a middle position between both men (there was a dirty joke there and it was entirely ruined with the both of them involved), and started humming 'Love Sandwich' under her breath as Zek led the charge.
"Cook-off dance party got it." She didn't. Not even slightly. "Think there will be a really angry British chef there?" She hoped not, she cried easily in kitchen environments.
Carrick said something about cages and she whirled around to walk backwards and face him, regardless of his presumed nudity.
"Don't worry. I'll just break us all out if anyone tries to cook you." She offered a big grin, which was probably lost in the darkness, "Do you know the one I'm humming? Sing with me!"
She picked back up with her song but was now gesticulating with her hands at him.
"This ain't the kinda snack you get from your mommy, your mommy ain't never seen such a whole salami~!"
"Open late enough." She responded back, "Do they have dolphins? I've never seen one close up."
She kept walking but turned to grin at him as he joined her. Maybe she'd have company for the night anyway, even if it wasn't what she had been looking for.
That grin widened nefariously when he asked about admission. "Free."
She wondered if that would stop him short, or if he'd still be game.
"I've never been to an aquarium before and since I'm drunk and bored, what better a time than now, right?"
She stole the bottle back from him, phased it right out of his hand, and tipped it back.
"I've read about sharks but never seen one of them up close either."
A face and name immediately came to Keith's mind, though that didn't translate to his mouth. "Oh, I've got contacts all over the place, but a man's gotta keep his secrets close guarded, am I right?"
She did as instructed, keeping her eyes and chin forward as they walked. "Yeah..." She did look at him out of the corners of her eyes, "Eli.... Don't know what he had planned but he's super excited about whatever it is."
She was mildly surprised with the information he gave her. "You talked him into it? How?" She... she'd never considered that Keith was susceptible to being tricked into things. In her experience, it has always come across like he was one step ahead.
He caught her before she even started shifting to look back, warning her not to do so, "Sorry."
And then he asked her if she knew him and her mind was a whirl of confusion and trying to bring up ever face she had ever seen before.
The sweater, the glasses, the... power. The way he was wording the things he said.
....Oh@#$%.
Suddenly she knew and now she wanted to drop herself through a floor to escape.
".... sorry." Of course. Simon. The young man she had taken home and kissed, who had been flustered and nervous and had poured out his heart about the wife he lost and how much he loved her. It had made her uncomfortable for so many reasons, some she couldn't even understand yet, and the whole interaction had ended with her freaking out and yeeting him from her living room.
It wasn't lost on her how utterly pointless the yeeting had been considering he'd found out everything presumably anyway. "I shouldn't have panicked like that..."
More importantly, "Why are you old now, and how do you know my Uncle?"
Juniper stopped before entering, hovering over the gross looking water tricking out of the tunnel with her legs splayed on either side. Mid waddle.
And then Zek, of all people, appeared and... aww, @#$%, this wasn't actually an orgy, was it?
"Oh hi, Zek." He stepped away to barf out his guts and she just stood there awkwardly, half turned and wanting to throw her prepared backpack in frustration.
Ooh, but cookies. Nothing Zek had ever given her was a disappointment! She snagged a cookie herself and nibbled on it while ek juggled his balls again and then suddenly, oh, hey, was that Carrick? Good god what a small world.
"Yep, definitely not an orgy now."
She heaved a heavy sigh and chewed on delicious chocolate and dough, while Carrick tried to compose himself. "Who, Zek? 'Course I do. He's one of my besties." Whether or not Zek agreed with that, she didn't care.
Slinging her pack around, she dug through it to try and be helpful for what the current situation entailed. Carrick had no clothes? She had clothes! And they would probably stretch to fit just fine.
After stretching them like a rubber band, she shot a pair of hot pink and black lacey undies at her winged friend.
"There you go!"
So helpful.
"So what are y'all doing here? And since my plans were just ruined, can I join you?"
She blushed a little, a tiny bit of pink seeping into her cheeks, and decided she was just gonna... ignore that. Yeah. This was a tough situation with scary topics, she didn't need to go getting bashful because she didn't get complimented like that a lot.
She shrugged lamely. "I don't get to be honest a whole lot of the time, so when I do get to, why not?"
And that whole thing about her principals or whatever...
She slapped her hands on the tabletop. "Aaaaanyway." Too close to touchy stuff. Feelings and complications and stuff she had buried. Juniper didn't wanna think about what her principals were or where she'd gotten them, or why being honest was nice.
"What's next then? We've swapped contacts, so... now what." The phaser grinned widely.
She was tempted to swing her 'jo around and start playing, but there was already nice music floating around so... that left her hands without anything to do.
"I don't wanna go home yet. I was supposed to play a set for a few hours. Maybe I'll hit up a different bar and find someone fun for a while."
She pointedly looked over at Jack, "Unless you wanna be my fun person."
Uh oh. That 'Love' bit reminded her a lot of Blue. She licked her lips.
There was an invite to a party, which she looked over to. Attractive girls plus a fire and booze was always a fun time... but she had just left something similar. Too many people could make you lose focus.
She still had his guitar in her lap, and as she straightened from a slight hunch so that she could better look up at him, she knew what she wanted to do. Well, what one of the things she wanted to do was.
"Sounds fun... but," Juni smirked up at him with a slight tilt to her head, "If I come over there I really doubt I'll be able to keep my hands to myself."
She stood in one motion, held the guitar out to him, and leaned down to grab the bottle of booze in the sand.
"You have fun over there if you want, I think I'm gonna go take a stroll in the Aquarium." Which was closed, because it was definitely after hours. "Look at some sharks while the crowds are gone. Maybe swim with a few."
The bottle was mostly still full, she didn't wanna blackout after all, and after one more swig she held that out for him t take if he wanted as well.
"Nice meetin' ya, Carrick!"
She gave a little wave and headed off in the direction of the fish-zoo.
Keith started rubbing at the side of his nose as what he thought was an uncontrollable itch popped up.
"Yeah, Pepper. Go ahead and give him his things."
Juniper shifted the purse around her shoulders into her lap and withdrew a zippered cloth envelope. Inside it was Simon's fake ID as well as the largish sum of cash they would be deposited, as well as a 'family heirloom' for safekeeping. The expensive vintage watch sitting in the bag looked the part, thanks to a friend of a friend Keith had who was very easy to get favors out of.
"Pepper here knows her part in the plan up, down, and sideways. Always been a fan of tall tales." His hand fell on her shoulder, slid to the crook of her neck, and gave a gentle squeeze. She tunnel-visioned on the envelope in her hands before stiffly handing it to Simon.
"Did you have time to get comfortable with your new name, Stephon?"
Stephon Cargill, a wealthy widower with a few kids to his name and a spattering of grandchildren. Beside him would be Mia Cargill, daughter of his youngest son and his doting, favorite grandchild.
She was there exclusively to open the door, help him count money if needed, hold the bag for him, and answer a few questions in case he forgot or stumbled in character.
Juniper had her fake ID in her purse, along with her fake phone, a few phony bank cards, and some assorted 'normal' things like gum, a pen, and some receipts.
"Alright, if you think you two are ready, I'll be waiting here for when you're done."
Juniper stood, thankful for an excuse to get out from under her Uncle's hand, and stepped toward Simon to help him stand. Dutiful granddaughter mode already activated.
"Juniper." Keith calling her by her actual name instead of one of the pet names he loved making her uncomfortable with, cause her to freeze.
"I'll be watching, Darlin'. Don't let me down." He was all smiles and cheer, but his blue-blue eyes were empty and calculating.
She didn't have the guts to turn and look at him. "Wouldn't dream of it."
Tucking an arm gently through Simons, she let him lead the pace on the way to the bank.
