The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Outside, there was a slight ruckus as the one robber was seized at gunpoint by waiting police. They hadn't the foggiest clue how he had gotten outside, and to be honest neither did he, but one down was one step in the right direction.
Juniper turned to escape back into one of the locked rooms, but froze like a deer in headlights when she spotted the x-man slowly lowering herself into the room.
Oh @#$%, caught red handed! And in a crappy mask, no less!
Good thing she wasn't the type to seek attention for her actions or this would be more than a little embarrassing. Still, she floundered for what to do as the woman drew closer. Wasn't it.. um... Valkyrie, or lodestone. Gah, the one Xavier liked! The accent wasn't terribly hard to pick though, but the word 'bampot' definitely bounced around a few times too many. Juniper could hazard a guess from the woman's tone it was an insult of some kind and didn't really have room to blame her.
"Um... uh..." She floundered. Oh lord have mercy on her soul for what she was about to do, and please never let Xavier heard a word of it. "I'm... Shadowcat." Her was red as a tomato under her mask, but it was better than tossing out her real name or struggling to think up a fake one.
"I was a hostage, yes." Thank jesus she had thrown her that one. "I escaped when they weren't looking and thought i'd try and get the rest of them out, if I could. There are two in the vault guarding the rest of the hostages."
She heard the sound of the two outside starting to shuffle around, voices raising slightly. Without thinking twice about it she reached out to try and grab the woman's arm, thinking to drag the both of them through the wall into a more private room where she could explain her plan some more. If the hero didn't want to be dragged, well.. she'd just have to try and make it quick while in the room they currently occupied.
"I was gonna try and snag the hostages out the back of the vault, one by one.... or push the bad guys out instead. I don't know what else I could do."
Turning so that she could face him while walking backwards, Juniper grinned at his comment. "Sounds like my kinda fun! Where do I sign up?"
She accepted the ball of ice easily, palming it for a second to look at it, before rolling it to the back of her hand. "You're power is pretty neat." A little flick of the wrist had it rolling down her forearm a bit, and then a jerk of the elbow sent it up into the air. She caught it in the other hand as she turned away from him and to the very expectant large dog who was waiting for the next treat.
"You want that ball?! Who wants the ball?!" She held it up over her head, which, mind you, wasn't very far seeing as she was pretty dang short, but when the massive hound danced around a bit and launched at her for it, he just went right through her. She skipped forward a bit with a laugh as the confused dog turned around for another go. The second time she was merciful and tossed it to him.
Her attention shifted back to Sam. "The danger what now?" She was honestly confused. She hadn't been able to peek around much at all while avoiding Xavier. She wasn't sure what a 'danger room' was. "That a euphemism? I'm down."
She flipped back around and re-locked her fingers behind her head. "I'm Juniper, by the way!"
@#$%, Xavier didn't pull his goddamn punches, did he?
He hit her with two very difficult things to explain to normal people and she fidgeted on the spot for a second. Where did she work? Well...
"I sell nudes online." It popped out like a well practiced line, because it was. "Cam girl stuff, ya know? Can't really do the typical 9-5 like everyone else." She left it at that. If he wanted to dig more, she had a plethora of pre-prepared things she could dig up on her phone.
Rounding the topic of her power being taken away from her was all together more difficult, and awkward. She didn't like the subject because she didn't like how weak it left her. "It was awful, obviously. Without my power i'm just a normal person. Nothing to hide behind." It didn't occur to her that she may have let slip a little too much with that comment, but she was still thoroughly distracted with the idea of the punk show.
She glanced at him slightly as he offered his elbow to her, slipping a hand into the crook of it as she turned and pointed at the window that led to his balcony.
"Lets go out that way, it's faster!" She was serious.
Without waiting for an answer, she phased the both of them and started tugging him with her straight through his own wall, and then straight into a leap off of the third floor fire escape and out into open air above the somewhat less busy street below.
"Don't close your eyes!"
She laughed like a lunatic on the way down, making sure she had a firm grip on his arm for the duration of it.
Her landing wouldn't be the greatest, but she was sure he would probably make it look easy as pie.
She blinked at him like he was dumb. "Of course I've heard it before! Like, a few songs, specifically. 'Welcome to 1984' is completely acoustic!" She was being defensive slightly, maybe. Whatever!
She stuck her tongue out at him as he went to change. "Fine, no guitar!" He made a pretty good point that she wasn't going to validate with a further response.
And then he brought up the baseball game again. He wasn't gonna let that go, huh? Well poop. She certainly wasn't about to tell him she'd saved a kid and that's how she got the shiner. He'd probably get more insistent about calling her by that dumb hero name he'd thought up.
"There was some kinda tussle between fans and I got caught in the middle of it. I got elbowed by a Karen because one of those dudes who can stop powers was there."
Ew. Just thinking about it made her skin crawl again. The ability stolen right away from her. Being helpless like that.
She shook the thought off.
"I can't go outside until it heals up because people keep trying to give me hotline numbers for batters spouses and shit. I'm going stir crazy! I figured a concert where people probably won't bat an eye at a black eye would work fine?"
She didn't have any other reason. She was bored and it sounded like fun.
"Yep. Totally talking about the dog." She grinned, damn near purring at his jest.
He stopped to let her go first and she absently wondered if it was just so he could look at her butt, or if he had caught on that she was staring at his. Who knew? How exciting.
She hopped and skipped down the few remaining stairs once he said all was clear.
"I dunno. All the boring ones? I haven't looked over class catalog fully yet." She cringed every time she tried. It was going to seriously cut in on her one night stand time.
"I'm more of a bump and grind girl myself, but getting lost sounds pretty adventurous too."
She chuckled at the dogs antics, locking her fingers behind her head as she walked.
Juniper wasn't honestly afraid of much. Her power made it possible for her to avoid almost every physical threat she could thinks of, so... what was there to fear? She had inadvertently made it a habit of being out late at night, usually hopping from one bar to the next to give herself a breather in between. She was always careful not to go overboard with drinks; if you lost your head, it was awful hard to protect the body after all.
But being outside, in the dark and by herself wasn't anything she normally batted an eye at. She usually welcomed the solitude in fact, letting the old battery recharge before she subjected herself to more people while figuring out what she wanted in that particular moment.
This is where she was currently, while strolling down a dark sidewalk in between one bar and another with her hands clasped behind her neck and her elbows spread eagle, taking up as much room as her small figure could. What did she care if the occasional passerby shot her a dirty look? She could just phase through them. No problem.
Occasionally on adventures such as this she would attract the attention of some of the seedier people of the city. She often didn't mind if they were at least somewhat attractive, but not many who dallies in criminal adventures looked as dashing as the movies made them all out to be. She often ended up ignoring the attention, phasing out of attempted grabs and stabbings like it happened every Wednesday.
Sometimes it did.
Tonight she had one such straggler. A fellow had been strolling with her a few blocks by that point, a good distance back, chatting her up nicely at first... but it had gotten progressively more and more loud as the blocks went on and she continued to ignore her. He hadn't tried to close the distance yet though, so he was only mild annoyance at best.
"Whatever happened to polite girls who loved to have a chat with a nice stranger?"
Jesus he was persistent. She'd throw him a bone.
"How about hell-to-the no? Who'd want to talk with some smelly stranger anyway?"
She didn't have to turn and look at him to tell how angry that little comment had made him. He started cussing profusely at her, loudly, and very descriptively.
Speeding up a little bit, she darted down an alley hoping to lose him. There was a tall chain link fence set up, probably to keep cars from using it as a road. She smirked to her self, smug about her plan to ditch the guy, and prepared to phase through the metal.
She smashed into it with force, bounced back off the springy metal and stumbled. "WHATTHE@#$%!"
He wasn't the only one cussing now.
Funny thing about fear as it can snap into place quicker than lightning and it sticks around an annoyingly long time after.
Juniper's hand shot out and slapped into the metal fence. She'd expected it to go through, yet it hadn't.
A cold sweat broke out on her neck and she turned to see the guy blocking her exit from the alleyway. There was a visible gun in one hand.
A quick peek told her many important things. There were two men in the vault guarding the hostages with guns, while also trying to get an employee to unlock all of the lockboxes. If there were six targets in total, and she had two here, and there were two out front... where was the last one?
She popped back out of the vault and fully into the hall, looking down at the small row of offices. One of the doors at the end was open, the rest were closed. Maybe in there?
She slunk back into the first empty office, silently counting rooms as she walked through one to another until she was at the dividing wall of the last. Sinking down low, she crawled through a bit to peek into the room.
One man. He was wearing the most ridiculous mask. He was also looking out a window, and not paying attention to what was behind him in the least.
She snuck a glance at the open doorway for a second. She was closer to the two other men now, as well. Any noise would probably draw their attention. Slowly she crawled into room on all fours, dividing her attention between the man and the open door. She decided trying to close the door was too risky, so she opted to just go for the man instead. With most of her weight gone, she tiptoes on silent steps behind him, trying to avoid casting a reflection as much as she could by staying low.
The dude was big, too. She hoped maybe his muscles were to make up for a lack of a brain in that meaty head.
Reaching out tentatively, like she was trying to pull off a priceless relic from a rigged pedestal, and snagged the weapon and it's strap from right off of him. He didn't seem to notice it was gone right away, enough time for her to phase it straight into the floor and out of reach. Then the lack of weight seemed to register to him and he reached to pat himself down for it.
"..What?"
She shoved him as hard as she could, phasing him straight through the window in font of him. She managed to reach out in a panic and snag his mask before he flopped out into the bushes out from.
Finally! A friggen mask! Why did it have an eyepatch?
Damnit, now she was blushing. Juniper shifted awkwardly. Compliments were weird. She deflected by laughing at the tease Addy threw her way. "Hey, I will grovel as I see fit!" She chuckled.
Juniper caught on pretty quick when people were uncomfortable, though sometimes it was a little hard to figure out why. This time wasn't one of those. It was pretty damn easy to connect the power and the handshake, and the sudden uneasiness.
"Hey now, it's okay. Really! Here, look!"
She lifted her guitar back up and phased it, plopping down right over her head. Her head and neck popped right through the middle of the body of the instrument. "Ta-da~!"
She pulled it off quickly, shooting a discreet glance toward the shop keep. He didn't seem to be reacting at all, too busy flipping through a magazine to pay attention to two teenagers rattle one about supposed teenager stuff.
She tossed a beaming smile back at the girl. "See? No need to be shy around me." She paused for a moment, "Sure wish I didn't need as much sleep as I do. More time to party!"
"I don't tend to beat around the bush much." She purred back. So far she was enjoying this much more than she usually did. The talking part, that it. Maybe it was because April was fast on her toes and had a silver tongue? Juniper usually tended to get to the point and see where things went without wasting any time. This was... fun? She wondered how many innuendos she could spit out before it became to cheesy. "I'm more of a jump right in kinda girl."
"I'm open to pretty much anything, if i'm being honest. Different flavors spice up meals in different ways, right?" One more drink and her cup was empty. She set the glass aside carefully and politely turned down a refill.
She pressed a few more kissed to that hot skin, before pulling back with a devious grin. "You're irresistible. I can't help myself?" She was a shameless flirt and had a libido larger than the empire state building. "I figure why suppress myself if there are other people out there just as thirsty as me~"
She tried not to get to handsy, she didn't want to be off putting after all and consent was one of her only morals, but she did settle one hand gently on April's knee and give it a playful squeeze.
"I can rip them off faster than anyone you've ever been with, guaranteed." She was dead sure of that. The little peck left some to be desired, but the nibble helped a tiny bit. "Though to might want to tell me where you want them ripped off of you, first~"
She laughed at getting caught in a cheesy line. "Hey, we can't be smooth all the time! Sometimes it's a little rough, ya know?"
Juniper leaned in, taking the little peck as possible permission to place an exploratory kiss on April's neck. If allowed, she would do much more than that. She had a fondness for necks after all.
She blinked at him. "Oh, yeah. That. I went to a baseball game." She nodded. That was totally enough explanation, right?
"Yes, like now! There's supposed to be a big concert over at Isham park like right now! I've never been to a punk show. I wanna go see what it's like."
She turned in a circle, hand hand on her chin with the other tucked behind her back. "I wonder if I should bring my guitar. Jamming out with old punk rockers would be so freakin' cool."
She turned to cast a look back at him, pouting dramatically.
"I can go alone if you don't wanna go. I just figured you'd, ya know, wanna tag along since i'm so small and there are probably lots of douches there."
"Waitwhat?!" He was sprinting into her kitchen. It was like, three steps for him. @##$%!!
She lurched to her feet to stop him and dropped the rest of her muffin in the process. "NOWAIT."
Too late. He was already rummaging through all her cupboards. She blushed a decent shade of red and promptly turned to try and flee from the apartment via the fire escape.
He turned and caught her literally half phased trying to sneak through her window. She looked like a guilty cat who'd been caught with her nose somewhere it didn't belong. He offered a hand at her, and dramatically demanded she leave with him.
Face fully red, she pointed at her door. "Out!"
--
A few days later around 8pm in the evening, Juniper hopped through their dividing wall excitedly. "Adonis!"
She landed awkwardly on his couch but recovered quickly. "You're coming with me to a punk show!" She looked excited for the first time in.. ever? Yeah, she hadn't really looked this excited before. Also, she had quite the shiner around one eye. She was already prepared in jeans, sneakers, and an Alabama state hornets hoodie that was a little too big.
Jesuschrist, he'd been like this his whole life? What did that kind of pressure do to a human brain after 17 years?
Maybe he really was a serial killer. Everyone needed an outlet somehow.
She audibly snorted with a mouthful of muffin as he told her to let him know if he ever made her uncomfortable. "Xavier, I think you are the only person on the planet incapable of making me uncomfortable." She known him for like, a month now? and he was the least threatening giant she had ever met. She'd actually been able to relax her constant habit of phasing in and out while around him.
She made no comment on the panicking thing, because she didn't want to let on at all that she spent like 75% of her time panicking about pretty much everything anyway. Instead she glanced at her bare little kitchen nervously.
"I dunno. I don't even have any baking supplies or whatever. Like, I hardly cook at all." She was starting to feel like she was admitting too much. He was probably just going to drop another embarrassing comment about her lack of things.
"Yep." She responded without missing a beat. "He said 'Woof woof' and I think it was a Cajun accent." She winked to show that she was kidding.
The guy brought up whether or not she was hiding from a boyfriend and she wrinkled her nose. "Oh, no. Noooo, no,no. He's just a buddy. Helped me get settled in the city." How the hell did she explain her reasoning for joining the school? It wasn't normal to just... hop into an education, was it? Was this a club now?
"Anyway.. Yeah, I'd sure appreciate another set of eyes. He's a comically tall blond with beady eyes and the overwhelming ability to be too nice." It was painful sometimes, seriously.
"I'd rather be lost with someone, than by myself." She followed him as a casual pace, with one hand on the banister. "Especially with a cutie like you."

"I'll do anything for some good marks~"
It had been a while since she had met someone so accepting of all her little direct flirts. Heck, she was throwing them back at the same speed, even! Exciting! Her eyes twinkled as she skooched herself even closer without falling off her stool. Newly named April was already reaching out to touch her, which sent a thrill of excitement shooting through her.
"Oh, i'm more than sweet. I'm like a couple shots of gin. I'll get the job done and you'll be wondering where your pants are after." She winked, and took a sip from her cup. She may have tossed in a little lip lick afterwards with a smirk.
"Do you come here often, or was I just lucky to run into a spring shower like yourself?"
She snagged that hand and drew it up slowly, over her thigh, over the hip, until it was settled over her slim waist.
