The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Back this train up. Held by humans or mutants? Tell me about the place, was it in the city? The country? How tall? How'd you get there?" "Number 10, Apple Street." the witch shrugged "They said it was haunted, and there were a few mysterious deaths, and since I don't believe in ghosts, although I find the concept of them truly fascinating, I decided to go and see for myself. By seeing, I mean sense." she smirked "If anyone can pick up on supernatural phenomena, it is probably me." It was not pride. Susan was just stating facts. Mostly. "Turns out there were no ghosts in the house whatsoever, only a pair of mutants twins, one male and one female. They were telepaths, and could create sound and visual illusions together. They used their abilities to pull out words fears from our heads, and make them real." The with shuddered at the memory, and frowned. "Somehow they figured I was afraid of being burnt at the stake, and so they made that real. Fortunately, I was not there alone."

"Do you feel the need to dress up?" "No." Susan underestimated the power of her feminine instincts (something she wasn't even sure she possessed at all). Right after she slammed, locked and bolted the door of her room following the Toad and Princess incident, she had to face the fact that she was shamefully unprepared for her non-date with Slate. Not to mention royally pissed. Three hours later a clean and dressed Susan sat in her room, staring down the clock on the wall and trying to make up her mind about wandering outside the comfort zone of her room. And trying to come up with a way of telling Slate and... fake Slate apart. Also, trying to get her hair into pigtails. Another half an hour later the young witch, dressed in a black blouse, red skirt, and boots that didn't possess heels, ventured down the hallway and to the foyer, just to find Slate there in the company of three daisies. Daisy. Innocence and simplicity. Who the hell put him up to that?... Susan marched across the room and stopped before him, flowers ignored, to poke him square in the chest with her index finger. "You." she stated, eyes narrowed as she looked up at him ... have never been a toad... "... have a twin in the Mansion." There.

"For you? Probably anything I say." Susan smirked at Noel; she was not really mocking her, it was more like a Susan-kind of an attempt at friendly teasing. "But, since we last met..." she sipped her drink, trying to remember "... well, I'm attending Xavier's Sister School, although there's not much studying going on there, from what I see... Also, I spent some really unpleasant hours in a haunted house, held hostage by a pair of psycopaths with telepathic skills who almost burnt me as a witch." she shuddered at the memory and wondered what the heck happened that made her agree to a meeting with a man who had the same skills... "... what else? Oh. I'm learning to skate. It's, um. Fun." She looked at Noel, satisfied with her conversational skills. Almost satisfied. "... and what about you?"

The illusion was gone, and Susan's senses snapped back to normal. The kitchen looked familiar; Emerald got off the table without her help but she didn't seem so sure on her feet. Susan moved closer and put an arm around her somewhat awkwardly, to support her. The man who entered looked menacing and, well, downright insane... but his voice didn't fit. Susan's eyes narrowed and turned pitch black. There was no doubt. Same dark tone of voice, same sick fluorescent color of a mutant gene gone horribly wrong. "No, he is not real." she agreed with the wolf girl. Or, rather, the figure as they could see it was not real. The person behind it... Susan focused on the sounds around the room. They looked normal. They smelled real. They tasted as they should, in a non-illusion environment. Th wolf girl kept trembling. It was close enough to mess with Susan's senses. She also observed the fact that the illusion faded with the female knocked unconscious. If they were siblings, and their powers were synchrnized, it only made sense the male alone would be weaker... The boy seemed to pick up on that chance, and he turned the situation to their advantage. Probably. Maybe. "Now ya open us an exit and let us go. And it'd better be a real one." The witch nodded. "I will know if it is not real. I can tell." her eyes swam black "You are not that good on your own."

Susan shuddered. "Not all the time" she answered "Some telepaths can be really annoying." Like, murder-you-in-your-nightmare annyoing. "... but it is one of the most fascinating mutant skills, yes." "Did you... need anything else?" The witch thought about it for a moment before she shook her head. "No, thank you. The definition was very clear." People skills. Empathy. Social interaction. "Um... do you want me to leave now?"

Twyla fainted. Susan moved out of the way so she had enough space on the couch to faint on. “Croak!" Blink. "I’m Calley. Thanks for asking.” Calley. His name was Calley. So they kept saying. Susan's mind did the math on her own. He... was not Slate. Apart from the name, she could teel that now that she could see him in his human form (actually she could see a lot more than she preferred). He was definitely not Slate. He even tasted different. Which, in turn, meant a lot of things. One: she just spent three days sharing her room with a complete stranger. Two: said stranger spent most of his time naked. Three: ... The wich squealed in a very un-witch-like manner, sprang up from the counch and left the scene. The loud bang of a bedroom dor shut echoed down the hall. Then another one, that followed the soft sound of male clothing items being tossed out into the hallway.
Three: she still had a, um, meeting with Slate in three hours and forty-six minutes.

“A mutant in denial who will forever be alone because of her harshness towards others.” Susan scoffed. Was that really the best they could do? Threating her that she would live alone? As if that would matter, for a witch. The others seemed shocked or hurt by what they were told, although not as much as befor. You can get used to everything. Even nighmares. Sleep. The command tasted like medicie. Waking up in a hospital was worse than the witch hunt. There were smells, and noises, and colors, and tastes that were all spinning around her head and making a mess of everything she sensed. Susan tried to blink the confusion away, and shook her head. The wolf girl, Emerald, was being tortured. Susan tried to stand, her senses still switching randomly. There was more noise, as the guy from their team attacked a nurse and some doctors. In the moment of confusion, the witch took a deep breath of the medinice-colored air, and cleared her head. With that done, she hurried over to the operating table to help Emerald the best she could.

"Reversion to a former template of your body, stored within your memory, through instigation of a psychic trigger, I think." Susan nodded. That was something she could understand. It also made a lot of sense, linking one ability to the other. The witch liked that. She tended to get annoyed with abilities that were possessed by the same person and didn't link up neatly like that. Like, for example, Noel's didn't. "Psychic healing" she grinned "Very unique." Slate pointed out she had blood on her face, and looking down she observed that she still had blood on her hand too. It was getting dry, so she would need water to clean it off. "Right." she agreed, following his look towards the gate. Mansion students were gathering there, glancing around. "I should probably go anyway." she turned back to Slate, wiping her face with her hand again in order for her goodbye-.grin to look less like that of a well-fed vampire. "I'll meet you on Friday, then."

"You practice partner, is he older? Younger? Mutant? Is he nice?" Susan's eyes narrowed. Something was telling her Noel did not believe in the none-dateness of her future meeting. "He is... about the same age as me." she answered "Yes, he is a mutant. Healer an telepath." she paused before the last question "Well. I am not sure what qualifies as 'nice'. But he understands the way I talk, which is more than most people are capable of." she smirked "No offense. Last time you were doing quite well too." Susan sipped her hot chocolate, musing about the meeting. "He has little to no people skills though, just like me - and you were the one who said it, too - so we decided to practice together. It's less awkward than practicing with, ummm, ordinary people."

"Susan, I'm gonna say you owe me for this." "Of course." Susan nodded, aknowledging her debt, and held her breath, waiting for the kiss to happen. She was tury, deeply curious about what woud happen - if anything happens at all. Then, suddenly, a lot of things happened at once. Number one: Slate turned back into human. That was noted by the witch with a proud grin, the charm did work after all. A split moment later eyes were covered with a yelp, as the fact sunk in that Slate was, well, not really dressed at all. Susan blushed deep red as she pressed her palms over her eyes. Unfortunately, that is of little use to a person who can see with all of her senses. The blush got worse. Number two: someone (a girl?) yelled 'Calley', and the next time Susan dared to look up Slate (Calley?!) was getting punched in the face by a very pissed off girl who smelled familiar. Susan's mind struggled with finding out who she was as well as why she called Slate Calley, among other foggy details like why he was getting punched. Did she know him? Was it about the kiss? Susan blinked in various colors. Very foggy. Number three: Said girl was getting attacked by someone who just joined the scene; he didn't look familiar, but he was obviously intent on protecting Slate. Susan backed out of the way in such a hurry that she ended up sitting down onto the couch. One hand was still pressed against her face, but she was watching between her fingers. "How do you always end up naked?" Blink blink blink. Always?!...

"Bad time to introduce myself as the competent music teacher?" "Yes" Susan nodded, sarcasm completely lost on her as she turned to look for a way out. The house seemed awfully quiet, but from this room, there was only one way out, so it was only logical to follow it until they came to a decision. Susan's eyes kept changing colors, looking for threatening signs or any sign of the girl and the boy who disappeared. And she found one. They were walking down a hallway when she first saw the sounds. They were weak, just a faint coloring in the air, but she recognized them none the less. Susan walked faster, tracing the color back to its origin, which, rather unfortunately, was hidden behind a massive looking door. Putting her palm against the door, she looked again; there they were, she could sense their body heat, and the voices were stronger now too. And mixed with another sound that felt dark and slimy. "They are here" she said, looking at the wolf and the teacher "The boy and the girl, they are behind this door. I can hear them. There is, um, something else in there too. I don't like the sound of it." She pushed on the door experimentally, but she didn't really think it would open. It didn't. "Emerald, can you get to them?" she asked as she, very wisely, stepped out of the way.

"A date is when two people agree ahead of time to spend a minimum of one hour together to see if their hormones start oozing out. If neither participant of the maybe-date feels amiable toward the other in a romantic way, it is likely a meeting of friends." Susan sighed and relaxed. Noel gave a very good, clear explanation, one she could work with. Now she was assured she was not going on a date, since there had been no talk of hormones whatsoever. What a relief. She also observed that Noel was not thrilled about the concept of 'romantic' relationships. She could taste it. Or maybe it was just coffee. "Is there going to be a meal? A form of entertainment before or after? Do you feel teh urge to dress up?" "Meal, yes. Entertainment, I am not sure. Depends on waht qualaifies as entertainment. And no" she shuddered "I do not feel the urge to dress up." She never did. "We agreed to practice our social skills together."

"Um...I thought that in the uh, story that the 'princess' kissed a frog...You just said that um, your friend is a toad..." "That distinction has no taxonomic basis" Susan shrugged "It is purely based on looks. They are both amphibians." She plopped the wiggling amphibian into Twyla's hands, and wiped her hands on her skirt before folding her arms across her chest. The princess didn't seem thrilled by the idea of kissing the prince, toad or not. Which called for desperate measures, since Susan was intent on changing Slate back into human. She was sick and tired of making sure he was covered by a towen every time she was getting dressed. So the witch did what was most logical: she lied. "He is a very clean t... frog." she pointed out "Indoors frog." she added, for good measure "Hand fed." Twyla didn't need to know the actual menu. White lies are better than... flies. And mice. "His name is Slate" she ventured "He is a, um, healer and telepath. Most of the time. The shift is, umm, blocking his powers. That, or he just doesn't want to talk to me." Susan was not sure how convincing it all sounded to the princess. The witch herself never thought about kissing an amphibian. "Um. Please?"

Susan blinked. The pain was gone. So was the touch, and with that Slate's powers, however they worked. The witch stuck out her tongue curiously, curling it up to see if there was any visible change; she was oblivious to how she looked like in the process. It took her a few moments to realize she had better senses to do the trick. Eyes went blank white for a while as she examined the inside of her mouth, moving ther tongue around; there was no taste of blood, or pain, or any sign of the wound that was there a minute before. Blinking her eyes back to normal, she looked up at Slate and grinned. "Fascinating. How does it work?"
