The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The reaction when he snapped the ID was priceless. Heh, these kids. Not that he didn't remember a time when pretty much everyone in the mansion other than him had a fake ID. Hell, most of the X-Men where under age by the time he'd joined.
He held out his hand to receive her well kept permit, looking at it with a raised eyebrow. Yep. That made a lot more sense. She wasn't exactly a baby, but she wasn't old enough to drink.
As he reached to hand back the permit, she spoke, and he stared at her for a beat.
And then he burst out laughing. "Hehehehehe! Assassin of joy! That's the best thing I've ever heard!" He clutched his gut, chuckling heartily for a good moment before looking up at her. "Well, there we have it. You lied, you got caught, you have no fake ID." He stretched, dropped the snapped ID pieces on the floor, and sat back down to watch the game.
His head tilted in spite of himself. Something... Appeared... in her. It was a strange feeling. His sense usually tracked fast moving objects, but he definitely picked up... weird, spooky @#$% going on with this girl's body... It was sorta like with Ghost, how he sometimes saw her, but did not feel her.
Like she was lighter than air.
What was odd, though, was the sudden feeling of parts of her body come into existence, and blinking out again... And things on her sort of stood out at odd moments because of it... Like the Wallet that suddenly appeared in her bra.
Yup. This was fishy as @#$%.
He leaned back in the chair as she leaned down to pick up her freshly dropped wallet. Yup. Gotta make sure them pick pockets don't steal the wallet that you can pop in and out of existence. For sure.
She produced an ID, and he looked slightly surprised. Huh... She did have an ID. He grabbed it and looked it over for a moment. Juniper Brown... Date of birth... Yep... She was 23. Yep... Slowly a smile started to spread over his face.
"Wow... Allen still makes these, huh?" He spun it about in his fingers looking it over front to back, and holding it up to the light. "Wow... He's gotten even better." Saphirus looked over to her. "Always puts a little tiny signature where people usually put their thumbs, though. He's proud of his work. Thinks he's an artist." The experienced X-Man looked back to her, and slowly folded the ID's corners together.
It snapped right in half. "He still can't get the flexibility right, though. Dang. Same thing happened to mine when I was your age."
He picked up his beer again, looking over to her. "Got a real ID, kid?"
Oh my god. If he hadn't seen so, so many kids do that exact same thing while trying to bar hop under age he MIGHT have been convinced by her actions. I mean. Point for point, he'd done the EXACT same thing. Back pockets first, oh, check the hoodie, that'll f@#%in sell it.
Jesus. He blinked a few times, and then shrugged. "Hey, no problem. I know, I'll check the student records real quick. Boy am I glad we went electronic. One sec." He pulled out his phone and finger print unlocked it, pressing a little X icon, and waiting for the database to open, all while looking at her with a meek smile on his face.
"Don't you worry, I'll just confirm your age real quick and you can be on your way."

Why yes, he did have the maybe baby blues. Yes indeed. He hid it well enough, though. She hid well enough, too, as her general confidence settled him down quite a bit. Okay, so she was a bit young, but Sam hung out with all types. She was getting her GED, though... He couldn't judge; he didn't get his until he was 29... here, actually.
She quickly finished her beer, placing it down next to his half full one. Huh... She'd finished that quick. And... She was leaving?
No... She was retreating. "Hang on a sec. Mind if I take a look at your ID? I hate to be a bother, but I am now one of the few adults here... Gotta cover my bases, you know?" He held out a hand, waving it in as if to say 'hand it on over'.

"I mean, I woke up to a ten year old calling me a Pedo when I was made young." He shrugged. "It didn't help that she was my adopted daughter who is still missing." The X-Man suddenly seemed much older for a second as he let out a long sigh, and rubbed his eyes.
"I'm almost forty, kid." Was he... offended that she was calling her old self an old bat? Why? Why did that make him a little angry? He shook it off. "You had plenty of life ahead of you, and honestly, you'd just taken care of the last of the big things holding you down last I saw you." Then she'd disappered. Where she'd went after that he had no idea.
She took finding out she couldn't have kids well. When she'd joked about cannibalism he gave her the exact awkward monkey face. Yuuuup. there it was.
Then she got on his case again, and he rolled his eyes, turning around and placing his hands on the counter. Jr. was out. He would have to lay him down.
"I dunno. I didn't figure I was anything special to you. You sorta lost contact with everyone but me, I guess. It became your life, ruining his." He looked back to her as she drilled in deeper. "Well, I'm gonna ask that you don't talk about that to anyone. It was the right thing to do. It wasn't legal. That's that."
He stood up away from the counter, and looked over at the clock. "Done eating? I gotta lay Jr. down id you still want to talk." He then headed out toward his room.
Juniper. She casually gave her name. She was good at playing it cool, but it just felt too...
Practiced? Like, who just popped in and sat next to someone like him? He was 240lbs of muscle and mean looks. No one who didn't already know him ever just scooted on up. He eased a bit when she mentioned the GED program. Alright, so she could be any age...
Still, it almost felt like a counter measure to his heat seeking missile. He eyes her suspiciously for a moment.
The mention of Sam was expected, but which Sam did she know? He was willing to bet it was young Sam, which maybe put her in the same age range.
"Well, Juniper. You old enough to be drinking that?" He stated plainly as he set his beer down, and reached up to pat a nonexistent baby before shifting uncomfortably. No baby. Right. No baby.
Huh... He'd set her off on an existential crisis. He looked around for a second, and adjusted his position real quick. It looked like he couldn't talk to her like he talked to... her? That was going to be hard to get used to. Back in the day he was pretty direct with her. They said what needed to be said, and exactly what was on their mind at the moment.
You know, how you talk to someone when you could die at any moment. No beating around the bush. This was different. He was saying things that were clearly kicking her ass.
It was unsettling to see her so fragile. "I dunno, kid. Things just happen sometimes. Most of the time it has nothing to do with what you did." He almost shrugged, but instead placed a hand on Jr's chest. The little guy was falling asleep.
He did snerk when she mentioned she was beautiful. She wasn't wrong, but it was funny to hear her say it.
He shook his head through a chuckle as she freaked out more. "C'mon, you were what... 30? If that's half your life I'm bad at math..." He paused, and looked at her intently for a moment. Should he tell her?
Well, he wasn't pulling punches thus far. Band-aid off. "Eh... Megan... Look, You told me a lot. It was a rough time. We talked a lot to blow off steam... You told me... Eh... Well... You can't have kids, I guess. Something to do with your power." He shifted uncomfortably. Wow, that had been a rough one. Maybe he should have kept it to himself?
Jees. It all seemed to make sense now, too. The only time he'd ever seen her act nicely was around children. Who knew she'd always wanted them? Christ.
Was... A pair of feet walking to the bookshelf? What? Wait, what? He barely registered anything as the young woman walked through the wall, but the feeling of her movements stood out to him. He couldn't help but stare wide eyed as she walked through the book case wall and toward the fridge. Was she... not there? His sixth sense only felt part of her. Creepy.
Wait, she was grabbing a beer? Who the #$@^ was this broad? Wait, was it one of Sam's girlfriends? Did Sam have girlfriends? How did she even know about this room?! He had so many questions! He was still staring by the time she had a seat next to him, and asked about the game. When she nodded at him, his eyebrow just rose.
"Eh... The Mega Bowl. Who are you?"
It was strange. He could feel different parts of her popping in an out of existence. Visibly, they were there, but otherwise, they were not. The bottlecap did the same, and she imbibed. Wait. She looked young, didn't she?
"Yeah, What about you? Just done with class?" She was a student, right? If she was, she was probably under age. Bold of her to assume she wasn't about to get into trouble for that. He didn't recognize her, but she seemed to know who he was. Strange.

What a brutal week. Every day he'd been woken up at 3am by Jr. He'd have to wrestle him to sleep, just to wake up a few hours later to get up for his security shift and wrangle the little one to come along with him. From there, putting out every fire in the mansion with a kid in tow, all while changing diapers, feeding, and being attentive to a little human.
So, when Grandpa offered to watch Jr. for the day, he happily took him up on the offer. Bless that man. He was a @#$%in saint for this. Honestly, he didn't know how he'd have made it this far without Shelby's dad helping out. Colin's assistance left him with a security shift, still, but that was pretty much over already. He had the rest of the day to himself.
Part of him wondered if he should pick up a shift for the NYPD, but he opted for another passtime instead. It had been a while, but he was acutely aware of a hidden stash of adult beverages in a certain now young Sam's office. Back in the day he used too pop in there all of the time to grab a drink, and it felt like now was as good a time as any to revisit old habits. Beside, all that beer had to be gathering dust with all of the people who knew about it being away from the mansion or too young to drink anymore. Wouldn't want it all to go to waste, right?
So, Saphirus wandered into Sam's office, casually moved the book that opened the bookcase entrance, keyed in the code, and rolled into the hang out, closing everything up behind him. He stood for a moment, taking a deep breath. Ah, the memories from back here. Good times. With a low hum he opened the fridge, pausing for a moment as he examined the contents.
Emptier than the last time he'd looked. Was young Sam drinking on the down low? He sighed deeply. Well, it was his beer, but he'd have to talk to him about it. Oh well! He grabbed two bottles, and cracked one open, walking to the couch to turn on the TV. The MegaBowl was on Auto Record, and he'd missed it, so yeah, it was a good chance to see how that went. Good stuff! He reached for a bottle to give to JR, and paused. Right, He wasn't here. Huh.

He had him. Dead to rights, he had him. Was the trigger backwards on this thing? Why was the trigger backwards? That was... Aw @#$%, maybe he wouldn't notice.
”Slow down friend. These guys were bad news. Had they not been armed t’ the teeth none of them would have been shot. Hell, ESU might’ve put more of ‘em down than I did.”
"Bull@#$^, you came here to put them down. ESU woulda just called me in anyway."The Emergency Service had their pride about them, but they still gave him a call where there was a nut they couldn't crack. Reason being? He could walk into a room full of armed combatants and walk out with all of them knocked out and none of them dead.
That hadn't happened here. It could have, if this man hadn't come here and slaughtered them.
"Who are you?" Saph Saw lights over the man's shoulder. Cavalry was here. The big guy suddenly lurched forward, showing off that insane speed he'd shown before. Saph's eyes widened as he squeezed the handle out of instinct, and fired a rocket off... behind him. Every action having an equal and opposite reaction, a ploom of smoke and fire came out the front end right at the man bolting into it.
To someone who could feel kinetic energy moving around him, this was a very, very strange and overwhelming experience. It was like there was a shroud of force in front of him. Was the guy fine in there? He would find out in half a second if he still got hit by a human freight train.
Well, She wasn't taking this well. He shrugged a bit as she asked about being an alcoholic. "Hey, don't be too hard on yourself. You couldn't even get drunk, so I think it was more of a... I dunno what it was. Social? Habit? I dunno."
He pulled his coffee pot as soon as it was good to go, pouring gently, with his arms outstretched so JR. wouldn't try to touch the pot.
"Uhhh, yeah, about that... I guess your ex he went insane and tracked you down. Tried to kill you. Roach saved you, only to get sorta killed. You killed your crazy Ex because he killed Roach, but I guess Roach came back?" He seemed as confused as she probably was about all of that. "I dunno. I was drinking when you told me most of this stuff. Now, all I drink is coffee." He shrugged again, took a sip, burnt his tongue a bit, and winced.
By the time he turned back she was all done with her meal.
"Honestly... I could tell you were a good person. Didn't know you were like this." He gestured to her. "Cause, you honestly seem nice, but a lot happened to you. You survived. I can't say I know a lot of people who had skin as thick as yours." He sipped his coffee again. "Cept me, maybe."
He caught another falling bottle, and placed it on the counter. "No idea why you changed your face. Maybe you were bored."
She lied about eating a few hours ago. Huh, he'd been getting very goodie two shoes vibes from her, but at least she was still able to crank out a white lie when she needed to. He knew he was saying a lot to her, but honestly, he was too tired to bullshit her, and he knew she needed answers. He'd needed them too when he'd become young.
The problem was... None of the answers were good ones. All he'd done was relive loss that hurt just as deep as the worst aches he'd felt in his life. She was going to get that too, so it was better to rip the band-aid off.
He stared at her as she protested the beef, talking about a doctor's list. That drew a bit of a chuckle from him. "Yeah? Lemme guess. You cooked it up? Seasoned it? I saw you almost every night for a year. It's ready for you how it is. Dig in. Couldn't hold anything else down.. Heh, cept liquor."
He started digging in the fridge again, this time to make a bottle. "Don't worry, I won't look. You seem a little more shy than... eh... you were."
He finished, and handed Jr a new bottle, turning to make himself a pot of coffee as well. "I don't know why you were friends with him... From what I could tell, he wasn't so bad when you met, but... I dunno... Sometimes people have a way of..." He turned to her a second. "Getting worse." He then pressed brew on his coffee, reaching into his pocket and producing a little action figure. He rinsed it under the sink before handing it to Jr. in the hand that wasn't holding the bottle.
"Honestly, I never saw you kill anyone who didn't sincerely want to kill you in that moment... And what you did to Roach... It needed to happen. If anything, you should be wearing a @#$^ing medal for public service. No one sacrificed as much as you did to save the world from that monster."
He pulled out one sugar from a packet jar, and poured it into an empty coffee cup, walking over to the coffee pot at staring at it as it poured.
His eyebrows definitely raised as her stomach made a sound his own used to make all of the time back in the day, when it was sucking on his spine. Now that he thought of it, she was looking a little... thin? Like... Maybe gaunt. "You, eh..." He paused for a second, a thought dawning on him. "When was the last time you ate?"
As they headed inside, she dug more, and he felt around with his sixth sense to be sure they were alone. "Yeah. Roach, he called himself. He was your friend, until he wasn't... He killed a lot a people, and you... Well... You did what you had to do." He closed the door behind them, and immediately started walking toward the kitchen, nodding to two students as they passed, careful not to speak while they were in earshot.
"You aren't part of the X-Men. It was personal for you. It was for me, too. He tried to kill me and my wife. And you... well, like I said, you had history." He opened the door to the kitchen, and opened up the fridge, digging around a little bit.
"As for how you helped. You're very good at what you do. Probably one of the best when it comes to surveillance, and you knew him well. His habits, his connections." He turned back to her, and tossed a package of raw hamburger on the table. "Hungry?"

The look on his face would be... somewhat hard to describe as she played with Jr, and coo'd about his cuteness. It was a sort of mix of absolute shock and maybe a bit of amusement. Megan... was nice. This person who was a younger version of the Megan he'd hunted a giant cockroach with... was a good person, seemingly.
"Yup. Woke up in an alley." He left it at that. He watched her closely as she described her story. He'd known that Maya/Gawain knew Megan, so it sort of made sense she ended up here. Still, there seemed to be something bothering her. He laughed a bit when she said she might not have been a good person older.
"Heh heh! I wouldn't say you were a bad person. An Asshole, for sure, but you did the right thing when it counted most." He didn't shy away from the truth as he knew it. He was talking to her, after all, and she deserved to know things about herself. Still, it might stray too close to Judge territory if he wasn't careful. He wasn't sure what to really say about that.
She asked how they worked together, and he thought about it for a second, letting JR. Tug at his finger tips. "Ehh... Well, we toppled a criminal empire together. Couldn't have done it without you. The, uh, other you." He grinned. "You also gave me a hair cut eight or so years ago."
He looked toward the front door, motioning that way. "It's a little chilly out here for Jr. You mind if we talk inside?"

The other guy was a busy boy. He'd recovered from the throw just like Saph thought he would, and was mostly through knocking out the three men with the SMG's when Saph was done with who he assumed was Lou.
He knew he had to act fast if he wanted to get the jump on this guy, but he'd spent all of his stored kinetic force throughout this fight. There wasn't enough time to make more right now. His eyes darted around for a solution, and found it.
By the time Ranger was raring to scan for more enemies, he would only find the plain clothed X-Man... aiming a Carl Gustav at him. "Move one @#$^in inch and I ruin your day real good, got it?" Police sirens were already slowly growing louder in the distance. Good, the gunshots must have gotten his partners attention... That, or the wall exploding.
"Bet you thought you were doin something great here... You made the wrong choice, pal, and you're goin to prison for a long time, just like these #@$holes." He didn't know what he was doing with this thing, but he wasn't about to admit it. He'd just locked the back into place and aimed it. The other guy had loaded it, he was pretty sure, so... Ideally the beast of a man before him would surrender and call it good.
