The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Skye found herself eye to eye with the woman who'd nearly knocked her on her well-dressed ass, and she had to say the other girl was dressed equally as nice. She wondered if the other girl had a job that required this, or if she was hitting the grind too. Skye set her snarky attitude aside; it was obviously an accident, and this girl looked seemed nice enough.
"Trust me, you're good," Skye said with a smile and a shrug. "You missed the color changing hair and the light show, but stress me out or startle me too much and...it's not pretty," her Maine accent bled through pretty strong as she spoke. "There's usually this bright flash of white light, and a loud bang. Really disorienting, really not good on a subway," she said quietly, grinning mischievously. It kind of reminded her of when her power first surfaced and she flash-banged an entire cafeteria after being bullied. While it sucked back then....honestly she realized they kind of deserved it.
"It's nice to meet you. And honestly, having a break from my mutation isn't necessarily a bad thing," she said in a much friendlier tone. She gave a snort at the question.
"I spend my days in a revealing, ugly yellow-green top and a pair of black shorts that cover less skin than most undergarments, then wait tables. Today...I'm trying to get out of that. The Missing Link isn't a bad place to eat, but I hate the uniforms. Feel free to drop by during the week though." She gave a small wink as she looked back.
"Right now I'm going around filling out applications and trying to get an interview someplace that doesn't smell like beer and barbecue sauce." She laughed again. "What about you?"
So I'm working on a project, making Pokemon cards of MRO characters!
If you want one, simply hit me up with the character's name, face claim, and a short but fitting flavor quote text, along with any other information you think would be relevant.
When finished, I will send you your finished card, as well as add it to this thread. So far, here are my finished works:

"Yeah...getting sick really isn't on my to-do list for the day," she said with a smirk. "Though, it would be interesting to see what color my hair turns for that..." she added, her face more deadpan, though her voice was only semi serious as she followed it up with a scoff.
Her hood was already up, so she was as protected from the rain as she could be without the cramped safety of the storefront. Taking one hand out of her pocket, she offered her bent arm to him as she prepared to venture out into the pouring rain. It was to have coffee and not be in the rain with a cute guy, so in her mind, that would be worth getting wet.
Besides, it's not like water did any real damage; not to her anyway. She just didn't like being cold afterwards. But again...this time would be worth it. And what better to counteract the cold than coffee?

Skye wasn't necessarily at a crossroads.
She was just looking for a side-street to get off of the road her life was currently on. She hated her job at The Missing Link, with their atrocious uniforms that showed off more of her body than she liked to when meeting someone. Even if they were a mutant friendly, mutant-employed establishment, it wasn't enjoyable, and it didn't pay enough to get her off of her uncle's couch. Sure she loved her Uncle Blaine and Aunt Lee, but living on a pull-out couch in a one-bedroom, one bathroom apartment wasn't exactly the eighteen year old girl's idea of living life to the fullest. She'd thought about going to college, but that would cost money too. But she could still afford to look into it.
She was spending the entire day looking for places to ask about jobs, and to try and better herself. Which was why she was on the subway, wearing black slacks, a navy blue blouse, and a pair of black heels. Her black purse was slung over her shoulder, and one hand was holding on to the handle while her other arm was resting across her stomach. Her blouse was unbuttoned just enough to show a little cleavage, but buttoned enough to be professional. Her bob-cut hair was black; she was tired, she was annoyed, and her day had only just begun. This mix of emotions made her hair jet black, which was the hardest of her emotional spectrum to read because black could mean anything.
She was quite uninterested, sort of plotting her next move. She'd stay on after the upcoming stop, then get off there. She'd learned to make full note of where she was, where she was going, and what she planned to do because quite frankly she was tired of getting lost. The subway slowed to a stop, and the doors opened. But as people started getting on, the black light flickering off of Skye's hands suddenly went out, like a flashlight whose batteries just died. Those around her would notice that her jet-black hair suddenly turned to its natural brunette.
Right as someone bumped right into her, but instinctively, her grip tightened on the hand-hold, and she managed to stagger back, wincing just a little. It hurt, but it wasn't serious, thankfully. When she regained her focus, she noticed that her lights were still out. Thankfully; having her powers stagger a subway car full of people wasn't exactly on her to-do list. She'd have to see how she felt when she did this again in a few days, if nothing came of today's search.
"Oh, it happens," she said with a shrug. She'd been having quite a rough day too, so she understood, but Skye wasn't exactly one to fake niceness. "Luckily someone around here seems to be nullifying my mutation," she said flatly before explaining. "It's not particularly harmful, but I hadn't planned on accidentally stunning an entire subway," she gave a dry laugh to show that she was making a joke in her usual cynical fashion.
"I'm Skye," she said, her Maine accent bleeding through her words; she'd only been in New York for two months, so her accent was still quite prominent, and stuck out like a sore thumb in the city. But she didn't really care.
To her, everything that made her different was special; hey, she was the sort of girl who liked to go against the grain, after all .
Skye sighed contentedly as Jack nuzzled into her indigo hair, the room illuminated by a soft, indigo light. She moved and re-positioned herself for a few minutes. It wasn't very comfortable at first, but she snuggled up close, resting her head on Jack's chest as she snuggled in.
"It's really not so bad," she murmured, her eyes closing as she nestled into the other mutant. Her breathing steadied as her muscles relaxed.
She hadn't anticipated meeting anyone in the bookstore this late, and she really wasn't expecting this, but she was by no means complaining. Pretty soon, the younger girl had drifted off into a gentle slumber.
Skye closed her eyes, still aware of the green light that was illuminating her immediate surroundings. The girl remembered what her uncle had been teaching her about better control and focus. Steady breathing, focus on the objective, don't panic. her fists clenched, the light slightly calming as she opened her eyes to survey the pandemonium.
And that damn buzzing wouldn't stop. Even in the noise, in the chaos, she could faintly hear it right behind her, always in her ears. She thought a moment, trying to figure out what needed to be done, but for now...she only had one idea. Her wings still flapping, the girl jumped, but she didn't stay in the air for more than half a second. So much for her wings being functional. She could feel them trying, but no dice.
If she'd known they were going to become real, she would have made a little more effort to get the dimensions and the science right. Granted, at least she was still human sized. It would have sucked if she was turned into a size-appropriate fairy...
Her brown eyes looked around again, seeing a canine person and a gargoyle; she was sure she'd seen both of them before the chaos, and they looked pretty much like they do now. She walked over, the green light on her hands now just a flicker as she made it to the pair. If she was going to do something about this, she was going to need help. And these two looked like they'd be decent.
"So how bad were you two affected by this?" she casually asked. "These were coat-hangers and plastic when I got here, and now..." she jerked her thumb back to the constantly buzzing wings on her back.
She chuckled at his mockery. "Well, at first I would have argued that it promotes us, and gives us a purpose. But after working there awhile, I'd say it's really just a reason to put mutant women in ugly-ass shirts and ungodly-short shorts," she said dryly. But it paid the bills. Well, it paid her grocery bill, and what little bit Blaine had her pay a month, though she was sure it didn't help him out much.
Chuckling at his next comment, she really had to wonder about this shop. After all, he wasn't nearly as 'scaaaary' as the guys he'd described. But it was no matter. And then he was ordering for them, and her hair turned briefly pink as he referred to her as 'the lady.' But just as quick as it'd happened, her hair was a happy shade of orange again.
"Black hair. Yeah...it's weird. I have no idea what it does or means, but I think it's like...a cocktail of emotions, I guess? It's never...gone nova before, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it can't," she said, biting her lip as she thought a moment. Yeah, they were likely going to have to break out the post-it notes and the graph paper for sure.
She giggled a little. "New York thing. Got it. Where I'm from there's one bar, one store, one restaurant that doesn't serve exclusively seafood. Anything fancy is at least a fifteen minute drive away, and if you want a city, that's probably an hour at least." But truth be told, she was liking it here.
Bar? That sounded fun. And like the perfect excuse to use her fake ID. It really didn't get a lot of love in Maine; small port town, one bar...it didn't take long for them to know her. But here? Perfect. She stood to her feet, stretching a little. "Yeah, it's just a little more fast paced than what I'm used to. Should get better with time." She shrugged, prepared to follow the other woman. Though since her hideous top was the only thing she had under the hoodie....
She noticed the grin as she handed Allyssa a controller. A fellow gamer; this was proving to be quite the catch. She blushed at the beautiful comment. Her face was crimson, and had her....date?...not been an adapted, the room would have been bathed in a pink light. But alas, it wasn't.
"Honestly? I don't bring many people over here. For...obvious reasons," she jerked her head toward the bedroom door, "I normally end up going to the other person's place," she said with a shrug, insinuating that she did this quite often. And...well, she did, but that wasn't important.
She smiled at the kiss on the cheek as the game started up. It was a fantasy/steampunk shooter/RPG, and it was one of Skye's favorites. Selecting "New Game," she was taken to the character screen, where she was given a choice of a few base characters that could be customized later. She picked a woman with a top hat and a trench coat, hands coated in a purple energy.
"You ever play Outerlands 2 before?" she asked, wondering exactly what kind of games the other girl was into.
"Just being honest," she said softly, snuggling into Jack a little as she nuzzled her. She smiled softly, a light shudder going up her spine as Jack's hand trailed her side. The prawn was big and strong, but at the same time...surprisingly gentle, and Skye really loved that.
"I really wouldn't mine sleeping here," Skye murmured, sliding even closer. "I honestly like cuddling," she said, her hair going from the happy orange to a more content, peaceful indigo. "I mean, snuggling is nice. Comfortable. A little more personal," she said, looking up at her, still smiling softly.
"Though, I hope the light show doesn't bother you too much. I mean, it's not nearly as bad when I'm asleep, or just relaxing, but it's still a possibility," she said, really hoping it wasn't much of a problem.
The lights suddenly went out, followed by a panic, and it was at that moment that Skye was more thankful for her mutation than she'd ever been. Her hair was green from the shock, but in the panic, the area around her was illuminated in a green light, making it easier for her to see. People were suddenly tugging at their clothes, at their bodies, at various props they were holding. It was weird. She tried her best to navigate through the mess.
However, as she did, the girl couldn't shake this weird....buzzing in her ears. It was faint, but it was constant. And it seemed to be right behind her. Turning her head, she saw where the noise had been coming from.
"What the!?!" she gasped, the green light becoming more and more prominent, pulsing madly as her mutation edged closer and closer to becoming critical. The wings that were supposed to be stationary, just strapped to her back, were actually flapping, and quite steadily at that. In fact, looking down, she saw that the straps used to fasten them to her back...were gone. She could even little sensations of the air hitting them as they flapped.
Skye smirked behind the kiss, shuddering at every touch. "You're not the only one," she murmured before diving back into the kiss. Awkward moment notwithstanding, she was enjoying every bit of this...
**fade to black**
Skye lay in bed, smirking as she looked over at Allyssa. But the TV....well, it was playing those weird infomercials, and that was a total buzzkill. So, after a few moments, she walked over to the TV, not bothering to get dressed as she bent over to unhook a few cables and connect some more.
After a few moments of fiddling, she had it all together, and walked back to the bed with two wireless controllers after firing up the Gamestation. "You fancy yourself a gamer? Figure it'd give us something else to do. And I'm not comfortable with you being out this late. As they don't want me out this late. So...this can keep us occupied and we can get to know each other," she said with a small smile as the game started.
The rain showed no signs of letting up. On the bright side, it meant that this cute guy couldn't really go anywhere. But there was only so much to talk about. Eventually it would get boring. "Well...I'm not sure about super speed. From what I saw with the spinning, I don't know if my stomach can take it..." she admitted, taking a breath.
"Orchestra? Now that is interesting. I'm not really sure what I want to do with myself, to be honest. I thought about going to school for journalism or something." She bit her lip as she thought a moment, looking out into the rain.
"Well, we're already damp. There's a coffee shop maybe two blocks down. We could always suck it up, briskly walk the two blocks, and I can take you up on that coffee? At least then we'd have somewhere adequate to wait out the rain."
She smiled over at him, shoving her hands in her hoodie pockets.
Skye felt a shudder go up her spine as Jack's hand rested under her chin, raising her head a little. "Oh, I hope so..." she whispered. The next thing she knew, she was in the other mutant's very strong, very capable arms. Being carried to the bedroom. God this was hot.
She shuddered at every touch, looking up at Jack with a soft, wanting smile. "No, no...I want this," she said, her voice still almost a whisper as the pulsing pink light was now a very steady, constant glow. Any other time, she would have wondered if her flashing bright lights could cause seizures or have any other medical side effects. But...right now that wasn't nearly what was on the other girl's mind as her hands slid down to the hem of her own shirt, which very quickly hit the floor.
**Fade to Black**
Skye lay on the bed, her pink lights had died down completely, and her hair was now orange. A smile was plastered on the younger woman's face as she propped her hands behind her head, breathing softly. She had to smile, thinking about how this all had started: an awkward meeting in a closet full of adult books, which ended with...well....this.
"I have to say...." she breathed softly. "Those novels don't have anything on you."
