The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Vanessa liked the unique ways Gina was different from the other women she dated, up to and including her mutations. They did have to be careful with her wings in some situations, but it was her tail that often added to the fun of a heated make-out session. The corners of Vanessa’s lips curled into a smile when she realized the tail was trying to lift her shirt off. Only the corners of her lips, though; the rest of her lips were too busy being engaged with Gina’s heated kiss.
They had been patient long enough, and they had earned every ounce of enjoyment and pleasure they were going to share.
Vanessa was spent in the best way. Glistening with sweat, her muscles were so loose and relaxed, she was sure she could have dissolved into a puddle of contentment and satisfaction. The only reason she even still wanted her solid, physical form was so she could remain entangled with Gina.
Relaxing on her back so Gina could keep her wings free, Vanessa had an arm looped around Gina’s bare lower back. Gina’s head was nestled against her shoulder, carefully accounting for her horns. She could feel Gina’s ample chest still against hers, moving gently with each breath. It was almost enough to warrant pouncing Gina again if she was not so exhausted from the first time. Well, times.
Glad she took the time to shave her legs, she brushed her calf against Gina’s leg and smiled. ”You’re so smoooooth. And soft,” she added, her voice feeling more like a purr than actual words. Gina’s skin was durable and resistant to tearing and biting (which Vanessa noticed,) but it was not tough like actual stone. ”And perfect. That was… really perfect, Gina.”
The moment they shared really was worth the wait. It was hot and passionate, but it was also something more tender and intimate than Vanessa was used to. She was attracted to Gina, but the connection she felt with her was more than something animal and shallow. Vanessa borrowed her face into Gina’s curly hair, kissing the top of her head. ”You’re way too easy to fall for, you know.” Her words were muffled by the hair she was pressing her lips into.

There was an argument to be made that the girls’ tonal shift corresponding to the intruder’s gender was hypocritical, but in their defense, it was the women’s changing room. ”Don’t get me wrong, sweetheart, you shouldn’t just be strolling in here, girl or guy, but at least things feel more appropriate this way. Plus, Skye might have a little bias,” she added cheerfully, taking a swig of the sweet apple pie moonshine. As she savored the mild burn, she poured a glass for their new friend. No sense in being rude hostesses, after all.
”I’m on tomorrow. The boss likes to have me around getting a buzz going on big nights,” she confirmed. Her powers were still going to last for a few hours, so the newcomer should have already started feeling the effect of having a drink or two under her belt.
Thinking of dancing and the new girl did make Paige curious. ”So do you like to dance? The mirror thing’s a nice angle and the club has guy nights and girl nights, so you could really make a killing. What’s your name, darling? I could be your reference,” she said playfully, winking as she grabbed a seat, finally getting comfortable with the situation.

Winnie did not get on Vanessa’s page right away. In fact, she seemed to be taking a long detour through a mental manual of secret lair planning. It was a tangent and totally off the mark, but it gave Vanessa the time to slowly move herself to a prime telepathy position. It was important to meet someone’s eyes directly to get a good read, and in an ideal world, that meant more uncomfortable eye-contact than a random person would be okay with.
Fortunately, Winnie was not some rando. She was Vanessa’s best friend and making her uncomfortable was a challenge. They had perfect, unbroken eye contact, which was drawing curiosity from the crowd around them, but Vanessa had to focus on picking up a clear message.
The memory Winnie found on command was not one Vanessa was exactly happy with. Between Winnie and Charlie, Vanessa was ready to call the fire escape a great weakness in the Bookman apartment defense. Vanessa cringed at the recreated sight of Booker’s… Little Book? Booklet? The thought of a potential name was officially too much and she flinched away from the eye contact. She got what she needed, but at what cost?
”Ugh! Bleh. Wow. Okay.” Vanessa was steering clear of Winnie’s eyes, choosing to keep her gaze lower, locking onto where she guessed Winnie’s belly button was. ”You came to my place a few months ago. You got the dates wrong for lesbian movie night—again. You snuck in through the fire escape like a crazy person, and as such, you saw… just way too much of my brother.” A delayed shudder ran up her body.
Hoping Winnie would be too occupied by the newer, more surprising news than old memories of Booker’s junk, Vanessa returned her eyes up to meet Winnie. She was only the second person Vanessa was willingly sharing her power with, so she wanted to know what kind of thoughts ran through someone’s mind when they realized their friend was a telepathic mutant.
Vanessa had a long day of work. No one ever believed her when she complained about her work days because everyone was aware of her job playing video games for a living. Admittedly, she would never compare herself to someone working in coal mines or retail; she was lucky enough to work her dream job. She was still allowed to have long, exhausting day, and a day of working in animation certainly qualified. There was a reprieve when she left for the last hour of the day to record the week’s podcast, but it did not lessen all the pressure to get artwork finished for a new show set to premier in a week.
It was still nice to end the work day with a light buzz, and the presence of cocktails on the podcast made that dream a reality. Vanessa was ready to go home, make some quick dinner, and play with her Gamestation. On days of heavy gaming in the office, Vanessa would often return home to draw or watch Binge, but after all the drawing of her own day, she wanted to stay far from her sketchpad.
Vanessa was stepping off the metro when she felt a buzz in her pocket. She read Booker’s attempt at a text, but found its original meeting difficult to translate.
Nessa. Fiend sitting on a corgi. Calmly.
Yes, at first glance, Vanessa could guess her brother hit a typo somewhere along the way. The question was: where? Fiend-sitting? One of those words was definitely wrong. She wondered if, perhaps, Booker was dog-sitting for a friend, hence the corgi. Why he was telling her to be calm was a mystery, making her believe that was wrong somehow, as well.
Booker, are we even allowed to have a puppy in the apartment?
Vanessa was already approaching the door to the apartment when she sent her reply, staring cautiously at the door. She wondered if she would be wrangling a tiny pupper making a break for it if she was not careful.
The door opened and no pets tried to escape, so Vanessa walked into the apartment, keeping an eye out for the new presence in the home. ”Booker, if you really brought a puppy, you have to at least try running things by me,” she called out, just in case Booker was somewhere in the apartment.
Rather than her brother or a puppy, Vanessa found another surprise in her living room: a young blonde woman on her couch. ”Okay, you’re not a puppy,” she said definitively, before adding in a louder voice directed toward the hallway, ”And if you’re cheating on Jules with a blonde teenager, I’m gonna kick your a**!” Her and Juliette got off on the wrong foot, but Vanessa actually liked the woman, and her distaste for cheating was well-documented. This was all without pointing out that the girl was likely a decade younger than Booker. Gross.
Vanessa kept her eyes focused on the girl in case she woke up. She was trying not to rely on her telepathy as much anymore, but if she could make eye contact with the girl and get a better idea of what was going on, it seemed like a justifiable time to use that ability.

Nothing felt like a bigger badge of honor than cheering up a best friend. It was basically the first job requirement for best friends to be emotional support whenever the other friend needed someone. Vanessa was not always great and being sensitive and sweet, but she did her best to be a good friend in her own way, so every time Winnie smiled, it warmed her heart almost as much as the alcohol in her system.
Winnie seemed keen on the idea of multiple significant others, which was not shocking, even if it was chuckle-worthy. It fit in line with Winnie’s “variety is the spice of life” attitude. After some work, she was willing to be turned on to the idea that she was worth love and worth the time and effort it would take someone to win her over. She expressed her approval of the idea by shouting it at nearby onlookers, and Vanessa was momentarily lost in a fit of husky laughter and snorting.
Once the excitement died down, (and a bartender warned them to keep things under control,) a sense of melancholy came over Vanessa. She had to come clean to Winnie, but she was terrified. Life was so easy when she was keeping her powers harmlessly to herself, but after talking to Booker, she knew that was not an option anymore.
As scared as she was, they did call alcohol “liquid courage” for a reason, so Vanessa was going to find a way to force herself into the admission. ”No, no, no, no. No.” She added one more delayed no for good measure as she slowly propped herself up to sit next to Winnie.
Vanessa sat with her legs crossed like a pretzel and put a hand on Winnie’s cheek to guide her face so they were eye-to-eye. ”I have a secret and I need to tell you. Or… you know, show you. Just think things. Thought things.” Vanessa kept her eyes vigilantly on Winnie, not looking to miss a single thought so she could prove her point.

The mirrorwalker was not looking like (s)he was living her best life. There was some preoccupation with Midnight and a warning. They got him/her a seat, and Paige and Skye got to watch as a handsome man shifted quickly into a very attractive woman.
A soberer Paige might have questioned the display, but the delightfully buzzed Paige was more concerned with finally receiving an explanation for the “sometimes a girl” comment from earlier. ”Ooooooh, sometimes a girl. Gotcha,” she said dreamily. It was definitely a mutation gender-identity psychologists would have a field day with.
Skye immediately softened to the intruder, which left Paige grinning. It was no secret that Skye had a preference toward women, particularly when they were cute. The pretty, slightly butch brunette certainly fit the bill. The blue-haired dancer resolved to help their guest get comfortable, going so far as to grab her a water bottle.
While Skye was rummaging through the minifridge, Chloe arrived with something stronger. Handing over a bottle of apple pie moonshine to Paige with a smile, she looked around the room. “Are you two just looking to start your night early? Oh!” She spotted a new girl sitting in one of the chairs. “Sorry, three. Did we get a new girl?”
Paige grinned and kissed Chloe’s cheek. ”Just a pretty new friend dropping in for the night.”
“Pretty is right,’ she said, eyeing the new girl mischievously.”
”Easy there, you’re still on the clock” she joked. ”Good luck tonight, sweetie!”
“You’re no fun,” Chloe replied with a pout before leaving the three women to themselves.
Paige returned to the others, unscrewing the cap on the bottle of moonshine and passing it to Skye. ”Ladies, I return bearing gifts!”

Winnie’s face when Vanessa complimented her was enough to nearly make the telepath cry. From her angle, she was not going to get a read on the Brit’s thoughts, and that was for the best. Vanessa wanted her friend to know how important their friendship was to her, but checking her thoughts would just be a reminder of the secrets she was keeping that threatened the integrity of that friendship. Booker was her brother and the secret was still able to shake their relationship to its core. The thought of how it could hurt Winnie brought Vanessa to the point where tears were starting to form in the corners of her eyes.
It was nice to know Winnie thought Vanessa would find her happily ever after, but it hurt to realize she did not believe the same for herself. They were close friends, but that concern was a new one, at least to Vanessa. She never realized Winnie had aspirations to find someone and settle down. It was just an accepted fact that Winnie had sworn off love and attachment. Vanessa wondered if her secret was really so bad when she was so clearly the worst freaking telepath on the planet.
"Nooo, don't say that! YOU'RE YOUNG! You have so many adventures! ALL the adventures!” Vanessa held her hands up into the air, reaching for Winnie’s cheeks so she could squish them. ”You're so amazing and if you ever decide to settle down, THE GUY OR GIRL OR MULTIPLE PEOPLE WON'T DESERVE YOU! But I hope they make you happy anyway. Because you deserve it!" If Winnie really did want to find someone one day, Vanessa wanted to see it happen. Anything that would make her friend happy would make Vanessa happy as well.
Vanessa was ready to (attempt to) continue the fruit analogy before Winnie’s hiccup caught her by surprise. The hiccup carried the taste of their most recent drink, which broke Vanessa’s focus. Once she was done giggling, she calmed down and searched for the thought she almost lost. ”I was… we were talking about… I know this. Oh! Fruit basket! That was so not true. So, so not true! Plenty of people love kiwis! They’re tasty and rare. They just acquire more work, but some really awesome person will know it’s tooooootally worth it.” Winnie would not be an easy woman to win the heart of, but someone would put in the effort because they would see the amazing girl behind the sailor’s mouth and the feathers.
Winnie was sure Vanessa would have the perfect, happy life with a wife of her own, but Vanessa’s guilt came back to gnaw at her gut. She turned her face away from Winnie. ”Sides, a kiwi is way better than an awful, secrety liar.”
Maybe it was ironic considering her job, but Vanessa liked watching people play video games almost as much as she liked playing them herself. Winnie could play Genebolt and Vanessa’s brain could go on autopilot, watching as she tore through a dystopian society with lightning. Even though Winnie was not performing up to her typical standards, Vanessa kept comments to herself, not looking to convince the Brit that she should play her game with two hands.
The way Winnie was stroking her hair was nearly enough to put Vanessa to sleep. It was so relaxing, and she could do with relaxation after the week she had. It was a cute, innocent moment, and Vanessa had no reason to care if other patrons were watching them. The two friends were having a sweet, drunken evening, but they were still adhering to the “in a relationship” codes of conduct. As long as they behaved, their moment was no one’s business but their own.
Vanessa’s cheeks heated up when Winnie started singing her praises. Vanessa liked the way she looked after a long time of wanting to reach that point, but hearing Winnie remind her so emphatically that she was “the prettiest jalapeno popper” was the best thing she had heard all night. She was willing to ignore Winnie’s need to talk about sex with her brother. Was he the prettiest jalapeno popper? No. No he was not.
But in her eyes, neither was she. Vanessa firmly believed Gina was far more beautiful than her, but Winnie was also the kind of gorgeous that needed praising. "No, You! YOU'RE THE HOTTEST FRIENDLEPENO POPPLER. Like... stuuuupid hot. Like, all the people in all the everywhere see you when you walk in a room. And I totally never made any moves cuz you'rejustmymostimportantfriendandthebestthingever!" Alcohol was making Vanessa sappy and emotional, which had its own impact in diction. She always thought Winnie was beautiful, and she would have been lying if she claimed she never thought about the road not taken. In the end, she understood how important Winnie was to her as a friend, and as she learned in her other relationships, a bad breakup could damage a once-stable friendship. She was just happy to have someone that amazing and pretty in her life, and she knew it was important to make that clear sometimes.

Their guest was willing to step out of the mirror on the condition that Skye did not throw a punch. It was… well, a valid concern, Paige had to admit. Skye was frustrated and Paige’s aura was not helping matters. Extended time spent near her increased the sensation of drunkenness at a quick rate, and while Skye was usually an affectionate drunk, she could easily flip the coin and become a raging drunk. With the newcomer corporeal, Paige’s aura would be giving them a buzz quickly, so she hoped things would end up staying civil in spite of her powers.
Paige was inspecting the (wo)man closely now that he was out of the mirror. (S)he was definitely a cutie, not that good looks dismissed the peeping, but there was something else. Suddenly, (s)he was… was it concerned? Worried? Something occurred to her and it had to do with the time.
Skye checked the clock on the wall, but Paige shook her head, remembering the one constant of the changing room through her buzzed haze. ”Skye, don’t be silly. That clock’s been slow since I started here. It should honestly be midnight now, more or less.” She turned back to the intruder, furrowing her brow. ”Is there something wrong, hun?” Just because they were suspicious of the brunette’s intentions did not invalidate that they seemed generally nice up to that point.
Alcohol could only blind Vanessa so much to her friend’s obvious ploy. When two very good gamers were getting trounced by computer-controlled characters, foul play was afoot. For whatever reason, Winnie was losing on purpose—a fact that became clearer when Vanessa watched out of the corner of her eye as her friend ruined her cart.
It was harder to piece together motive through the haze of liquor. Winnie had proposed the drinking game rules, but she made the winner the one to drink more. She had some reason Vanessa could barely remember, but it sounded like a ruse based on how the night was going. Was Winnie really trying to get her drunk?
Of course, that was a game two could play. Vanessa already did her part by ordering new shots, but she was going to have to try harder to get them both across the finish line of inebriation. She was riling up Winnie, and thanks to alcohol, her taunts seemed to be landing like headshots. What she somehow forgot was Winnie’s ability to retaliate, and her utter shamelessness in invoking Booker’s sex life. Vanessa gagged and tossed a throw pillow. ”Gross! I’m going to have to burn that out of my head!”
It took a moment for her brain to connect her complaint with the goal she so recently committed to, but she figured out a path to make things work. ”Okay! None of this nonsense now. Rule change. Winner drinks two,” she said slowly, holding up two fingers, ”and the looooooser drinks… four!” Of course, that was also accompanied by fingers aggressively representing the number.
Win or lose, they were both going to be drunk by nights end.
How did they get to night’s end again?
They managed to drink… well, honestly, Vanessa lost track of what they managed to drink. They played video games. So many video games. Thanks to the rules of their drinking game, they drank so many alcohol.
Vanessa was giggling over something Winnie said. Or it could have been because she remembered a joke from a ViewTube video. The only clear thing was Vanessa laughing, draped across the length of the couch with her head in her friend’s lap. ”You know, I don’t know why we don’t do more nights like this. We should do way more girls’ nights. Like… all the time.”
Their couch was catching curious glances from some of the nearby patrons, but Vanessa was oblivious to them. She was on a comfy couch, she had the best friend a girl could ask for, and there were still a few jalapeno poppers left. She grabbed one and tossed it in her mouth, careful to chew so she did not choke on it. ”You’re like… the jalapeno popper of friends. Because you’re… you’re just so good.”

The way Gina said, “Homework,” like it was a word in a language she forgot was a positive sign that both women were on the same page. Vanessa sincerely never intended to be a distraction to her girlfriend, but she was hoping Gina would have stopped her if the need to study was pressing. It was fortunate for both of them that other needs were more pressing.
Vanessa liked the way Gina defending making out as a form of studying, but she loved even more how Gina’s voice was tickling at the delicate skin of her neck, where Gina had buried her face. She could have let her set up shop there forever, claiming all the territory from her jaw to her shoulder, but Vanessa had plans of her own.
To figure out a better position, Vanessa straddled Gina’s lap so they were properly face to face. Vanessa took her own turn at the dappled grey skin of Gina’s neck, but her hands had their own agenda, pulling the hem of Gina’s top slowly up her body until everything it hid was let free, and Vanessa pulled away from her girlfriend’s neck just long enough to pull the shirt off and throw it in the corner of the room.
Vanessa had much more area to explore with her kisses, but between each kiss, she murmured, ”Okay then… we’re going… to do… so much… studying… tonight.” Vanessa was not one for school and it had been years since her last “class” of any kind, but she was pretty sure she was discovering what her favorite subject was.
Vanessa made a wise decision when it was her turn to pick a game, even if her plan was to lose more games than she one. With all the chaos of Average Giuseppe Mobiles, it was easy to subtly swerve into a stray shell or catch a banana peel on a turn. A sober Vanessa would never let those little obstacles get in the way of her success, but Vanessa could sell the alcohol hindering her because, well, she was getting drunk.
When games went in her favor, Vanessa was still celebrating like all she wanted to do was leave Winnie under the tires of her cart. She pouted and huffed when she lost, even though she was glad to see Winnie knocking her drink back.
What was weird to Vanessa was how even things still seemed to be. She was putting a concerted effort into performing at a mediocre level and Winnie was not taking advantage of that to pummel her into the ground and declare herself supreme video game overlord. Even after all her effort, Vanessa still felt like the one who was on track to be drunk and stumbling in the near future. Something seemed out of place, but the alcohol in Vanessa’s system was not helping her connect the dots.
Vanessa did have another idea in mind since her plan A was showing limited success. If she could not tip the scales on both sides, she would just break them. The waitress was passing by and Vanessa hailed her attention, smiling sweetly. ”Excuse me, hun! I’m sorry to bother you, but my lovely friend here isn’t bringing her best to the games today. I was hoping you could help me out with something to get her in the mood for more fun.” The waitress seemed eager to assist, to the surprise of nobody.
After a quick order and equally quick retrieval of drinks, the girls had new shots in front of them. Vanessa was not sure why exactly, but over the summer it had become her favorite shot. In an effort to move the night along, she also ordered them both as doubles.
Vanessa raised the shot and downed it, enjoying the sweet and tart tastes that masked the prevalent amount of alcohol. ”You know, I know I’m not exactly speedrunning these things, but aren’t you a tiny bit worried about your pride, here? Maybe you’d be doing better hitting the buttons with ittle tiny birdy feet,” she teased, still wondering why Winnie’s gaming skills were suddenly so non-existent.

Vanessa may have gotten kisses when Gina arrived at the apartment and while they were in the kitchen, but there were different levels of kissing. There was nothing wrong with cute, tender kisses. Vanessa loved the gentle, innocent moments she could have with Gina, who brought out in her the kind of sweet romance she would normally associate with young, high school puppy love.
The soft kisses were always going to be wonderful, but Vanessa and Gina were also adults. Sitting on Vanessa’s bed, nibbling at her girlfriend’s plump lips, Vanessa had decidedly less innocent thoughts running through her mind. When Gina accused her of being shameless, she did not even break the kiss as she grinned.
Her efforts were rewarded when taloned fingers carefully ran through her hair, sending a ripple of excitement through her from head to toe. Gina guided her closer and Vanessa made no attempt to resist. She felt a tongue that was not her own licking her lips, and Vanessa took that as a sign, letting the kisses grow deeper and more passionate as the heat in her body started to rise.
Vanessa’s hands were so excited to have Gina at their fingertips, they could not help but wander. Her neck, her shoulders, her waist, her hips. They wanted more Gina, and the rest of Vanessa echoed that desire. She positioned herself as close as she could get while they were both still in a sitting position, pressing her body against her girlfriend to achieve maximum available contact.
As the kissing sped up, Vanessa’s fingers found the hem of Gina’s top. They tugged at it, slipping fingertips just underneath to touch the warm skin of her stomach. She smiled and pulled away from the kiss just long enough to ask, ”So this homework… how important is it?” Her voice was low and smoky and laced with desire. They made a noble attempt at a study session, but it had just been too long since they had an intimate moment to enjoy one another and nothing else, and the need for that was too apparent to deny.
Beating Winnie at video games was always enjoyable, but everything was extra enjoyable when the happy mist of inebriation started setting in. Vanessa was having a great night, and she was about to pop in a video game she was known for dominating. She had the skill and timing down, she knew all the techniques, and everyone was convinced the game loved her and gave her good item rolls. Victory was going to be swift and glorious!
Winnie found Vanessa’s joke about her pursuit of the waitress as funny as she did, which was good, because the joke was hilarious and deserved all the laughter it earned. Vanessa could not stop from calling Winnie out on her “kiss and tell” line. ”Oh, bull****. You act like we haven’t literally spent nights drinking and recanting your exploits.” After all, everyone needed a friend to share in the joy of their conquests, and Winnie was quite the conqueror. ”Though I think Gina would frown on me lending my friend and her waitress that much of a helping hand.”
After another bout of laughter, Vanessa settled on Princess Violet and they jumped into the race. As expected, Vanessa led with a convincing trouncing of her friend in the first race. She took her two sips but looked at Winnie’s glass, which seemed disappointingly full. If she remembered correctly, Winnie made their wager with the hope that she could get herself drunk. Vanessa liked winning, but if Winnie was really having a long week, maybe she could help things along. She was not planning on throwing every match, but what would be the harm in letting things even up drink-wise?
So, under the guise of her increasingly intoxicated state, Emperor Ghast was starting to claim more victories over the Moonlight Princess. Vanessa pitched the same fit she always did when she lost, but she had to fight the urge to smirk whenever Winnie took the sips she was apparently so eager to get. No one was supposed to escape the night sober, and Vanessa was going to ensure the plan went as expected.

Vanessa was not looking into Gina’s eyes while the two girls were occupying themselves with their readings. The position she took up on Gina’s lap and the focus of their eyes elsewhere made mind-peaking impossible. It was likely for the best; Vanessa was trying to avoid an over-reliance on telepathy in handling her relationship. As a result, Vanessa had no clue how well Gina was doing focusing on her homework. All she knew was her own reading was not helping to keep her mind off Gina.
There was no ulterior motive for offering an aioli-dipped fry hanging from her mouth, or at least that was what Vanessa was telling herself. Feeling Gina’s taloned hand carefully cupping her cheek sent a flare of warm blood to the offending cheek. Gina leaned in and took her bite and…
Pulled away. For someone without an ulterior motive, Vanessa was quite disappointed in the lack of kissing her action resulted in. Still, she was able to catch a glimpse of Gina’s mind and realized homework was not as high on the priority list as initially thought.
Vanessa grabbed the plate of fries and placed it on her lap, sitting next to Gina with her own back pressed against the wall. ”Well you’ve done a solid few… minutes of studying. I think that calls for a fry break before the fries get cold and not nearly as good.” Study breaks were important!
The two women picked at the plate of snacks, alternating between ketchup and the aioli Gina was kind enough to praise. It was an idyllic late-afternoon, and Vanessa decided she was just content being with Gina, regardless of what happened.
In hopes of being obnoxiously cute, Vanessa dipped a fry in the aioli and offered to feed it to Gina. The end result was an eaten fry and a small smudge of the sauce at the corner of those pillowy grey lips. ”Oh hey, sorry. Let me get that.”
Vanessa moved to brush away the aioli with her thumb, but stopped when a better idea occurred to her. She took Gina’s chin between her thumb and index finger so she could more carefully lean in and delicately lick away the sauce. ”There. That’s… better. Or wait,” she amended as a mischievous twinkle formed in her eye. ”I think I might see some here…”
Slowly, Vanessa licked Gina’s upper lip before barely whispering, ”Here, too…” She took Gina’s bottom lip between her own, nibbling gently. She could not help herself; she had something in her bed far more delicious than sweet potato fries.
