The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The creature before her truly was fantastic, reminding her very much of a black, winged dinosaur. It dwarfed her small human form, although she had other shapes of comparable size. She was a predator at heart and could see from the forward facing eyes and the mouth full of jagged teeth that this creature was no prey animal. It put her a little on edge, knowing how inept her human body was at defending itself. For the moment, however, it didn't seem aggressive and she resisted the urge to change shape into something more its equal. Lack of communication was always a challenge.
"I spent the past two years living in solitude in the woods." She knew all about finding oneself in solitude. It was a struggle, sometimes, to balance her human self with her dino self. Perhaps this dragon was the same. Of course, he must be a mutant and the most probably explanation that he was a shapeshifter, like herself.
"Amber Thirsis," she introduced herself, sitting and positioning the umbrella to best block the harmful sun from her body. "I thank you for the invitation. I haven't been back at the Mansion long and I don't have much news of the outside world. At least, not of the human world. I can tell you where to find a tasty family of deer though." She smiled, only being half serious. Deer made up some of her favourite food when she was living as a dinosaur.

"Well, thanks for the vote of confidence," she said with a cheery smile. It wasn't that she lacked confidence in her own abilities, she had that in droves. Mostly she just lacked the money needed for a proper education. One day, somehow, she'd make that happen although the hows and whens were a mystery..
As she talked she began wandering around the store, making sure that everything was tidy. Fortunately, her replacement would be there soon and she'd be able to go home along with, possibly, her new and unexpected roommate. "Fortunately not too often but often enough that learning to defend would be a plus. Sometimes its mutants too, all insulted and put out because I dare talk to 'mere' humans." Sarcasm in droves in the last statement.
"Humans aren't so different than mutants, really, just without the powers. Some are great while others deserve something really horrible to happen to them. You reap what you sow, you know? Do good and good should come back to you. Do bad and bad should happen to you in turn." Human or mutant didn't matter, it was actions that made the difference.

She knew her sister viewed humans as animals and so referring to them as such didn't cause any reaction in Amber. Her own philosophy of hunting was different: Since she usually hunted for food it was usually better to have as little challenge as possible. Challenge meant the possibility of being wounded and being wounded in the wild meant things could, in turn, hunt you. Still, she was back in the human world now so perhaps the rules were different.
"That makes a lot of sense," she nodded, considering. She'd never quite understood her sister's attraction to killing gang members, anyway. Sure, most of them were pretty terrible and didn't deserve to live, but it didn't do any good because there were always more to fill their place. "Not only killing them, but what about infiltrating important places too? Like, spies and maybe even taking over places of power?" She could be a good spy, probably.
"Of course we can talk on the way," she agreed. It was just so good to have her sister back again.

At a loss, she turned to make her own departure. It was time she seek she indoors and the safety it offered from the sun, anyway. "Well, if you change your mind or if you ever need someone to talk to, I rarely leave the Mansion during the daylight hours." For now, it didn't seem like there was anything she could do to help, but if he ever wanted help, it felt right to offer it. Words said, she continued on her way.

Seeing the dejected look on the man's face, Amber felt a sharp pang of guilt shoot through her. She hadn't meant to make him feel worse about himself, quite the opposite. By showing him that others struggled as well, she hoped to open her eyes that he wasn't as bad as he thought. Mutants like them, they were in this together and should show solitary and support to one another. Of course, she had royally botched that one, now hadn't she? Why was she so bad at people skills and basic human interaction? Or right, probably because she had spent half her adult live living as a dinosaur in the woods. One skill dinosaurs definitely did not need was diplomacy. It was her turn to feel some degree of self-loathing.
"Hey, I'm sorry I got mad at you," she glanced towards the other woman who was now departing but did not follow. "I just didn't want you to think so badly of yourself. I'm really not good at the whole people thing." She spoke with her eyes averted, hoping the apology got through.

The red cat-like mutant was seriously starting to annoy her with his more-dangerous-than-though self deprivation. Did he seriously think he was the only dangerous mutant to have ever accidentally hurt or even killed someone. She set her black eyes upon him, mustering every bit of intimidation she knew she possessed.
"Do you really think you're the only one to have accidentally hurt someone because you're a mutant? Newsflash: You're not. So what if you don't have a choice about how your power works, you learn how to be careful and protect the people around you and you stop moping." The anger in her words surprised even herself. What made him so special anyway? She'd killed before herself, accidentally and only because she was a mutant. She had dealt with it, moved on and continued to live her life.
The other woman seemed to share much the same views as she. She didn't ask about who or how she'd hurt someone important to her, but she did not her agreement. It seemed to be a common experience among mutants.
So, work has all of a sudden decided to get crazy busy. I'm not going anywhere, but my rate of posting is likely to be significantly less than it has been. Hopefully this is a very short term thing and things will go back to normal soon. In the morning, please have patience.

She felt ashamed of her actions, ashamed of losing control so completely. This had never happened before, even at the very beginning when she was just learning what it was to be a mutant with powers. She was supposed to be better than this, not just some feral ruled by the instincts of the forms she inhabited. Usually, she was better than this.
The bear also seemed to be regaining control of itself and had found something to eat. Was that what this whole thing had been about? It being hungry and her being in its way? How had things spiraled so quickly and so completely? And to have her new friend Jack there to stop the madness only served to make things worse. What would she think of her now? Her actions were unforgivable.
Despite her growing despair and guilt, she was much more in control of herself and, deciding it was best to listen to the prawn lady, triggered a shift back. Pain momentarily ripped through her body as bones contorted and scales and feathers retreated back into pale, smooth flesh. The crocodile was no more and in its place stood a small, ashamed mutant girl.
"I'm so sorry," she whispered, looking around at the carnage. The gash on her face was deep and continued to leek blood, even in this form although due to her unique physiology it was all ready starting to stop. Her ribs hurt abominably and a quick glance down revealed extensive bruising.
Amber glanced in the direction of the bear to see an Asian girl in its place. Another mutant. Of course. "I'm so sorry." She apologized to the girl directly. She turned to Jack next. "Did I hurt anyone?" She made no attempt to cover her body in shame or otherwise acknowledge the fact that she was standing in the middle of the ruined kitchen, naked.

Ambrosia was looking forward to her meeting that afternoon. The previous evening she'd gotten a call from a woman named Lexi. Apparently the woman had an opportunity she might appreciate. Not many details were dropped over the phone, but it was made clear that her work with mutants was known about, it was related to that and it might just involve an actual paycheck. There was just enough spoken about the pique her interest while remaining ambiguous enough to drive her just a a little bit crazy in the waiting.
She had suggested the meeting place herself, a little park not far from home with plenty of places to talk with some degree of privacy, some lovely trees and a coffee shop for all life's caffeinated needs. Some people, at least, required that boost in the morning. She was one such person.
Arriving shortly before noon, she parked her smart car and went straight for the coffee shop. For years all she'd wanted was to become a social worker and counselor specializing in mutants and mutant problems. She hadn't quite gotten there yet, mainly due to the high cost of school, but she did what she could to help mutants regularly. Mostly, she helped direct them to helpful resources like shelters and food banks. Maybe this meeting would prove to be the opportunity she needed to take that next step. One could hope, anyway.
Once coffee had been successfully acquired, she walked up to a nearby bench, long skirt swishing gently in the breeze, to meet her mystery contact.

I'm looking to pickup another thread with a couple of threads having recently ended. Ambrosia is a visible mutant elf and faerie dragon shifter involved in mutant rights mostly through offering resources to mutants to find the resources they need to survive and thrive. Her name is somewhat known to SUPER as she makes no effort to hide her actions.
I'm up for almost any kind of thread. If SUPER wants to tag her or even possibly try to recruit or otherwise forge a working relationship with her, that could prove interesting. She likely wouldn't make much of a SUPER agent, but there might be some use of her as a friendly contact with works with them rather than for them. She's a visible mutant, but mostly pacifist and mostly known for doing actual good work to help mutants. If that doesn't work, I'd be open to suggestions.

The whole little mob took a collective stunned breath and step back when Ambrosia released her torrent of fire and that was very satisfying. Unfortunately, that moment of stunned silence only lasted a moment until they re-collected themselves and realized they still outnumbered the pair of them significantly. Nasty (although possibly slightly nervous if she was interpreting correctly) laughter followed.
"I don't suppose you're secretly a shapeshifter and can just fly away, are you?" she asked her friend, keeping her voice as quiet as possible. Boy, it sure would be nice if the two of them could just fly away to safety. Assuming, of course, that none of the gang could also fly. Or shoot bolts of energy at their retreating forms. Or, now that she was really thinking about it, any number of other powers that could potentially do bad things to tiny, flying dragons. Why did she dwell on these sorts of horrible things, anyway?!
She nodded her acknowledgement at the instructions given. Just because her fire made her look bad ass and dangerous didn't mean she was bad ass and dangerous in truth. Alas, it was quite the opposite.
As if to give form to the horrible thoughts she'd been having, a green bolt of glowing energy shot out of the hands of a young man with a biker jacket. It shot between Ambrosia and Cait, barely missing them both and she let out a nervous 'eep' as it went whooshing past.
