The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amber was used to surprised reactions when it came to discovering that she was both woman and dinosaur. Of course, the red mutant wasn't exactly easy to read and she wasn't the best at reading people in general. When it came to interpreting the actions of animals in the wild, that she was good at. Surviving as she had for years as a dinosaur outside the city and able tap into the basic instincts of her different forms, reading such ques in nature was almost second nature. Similarly, reading similar ques in ferals was also something she was uniquely in tune with. Any other emotional reaction was only one step above that of a guessing game.
"Um, you don't need to go," she looked nervously back and forth between the red mutant and the woman. "At least, not on my behalf." Of course, she couldn't speak on behalf of anyone but herself. "You knew Jupiter? Did you know Abyss as well?" She couldn't disguise the hope in her voice. She missed him so much.

Amber's ribs ached from the collision with the window and blood continued to seep from the side of her head. Had she been a natural boar crock, likely the wound to her head would be much more serious than it was; it was only her thick, viscous blood that prevented serious blood loss. Her ribs, although not fully broken, were quite likely fractured and the pain of her injuries made her see red.
Now inside the kitchen, not only was her enemy the bear still present, but so too were numerous others, screaming and panicking. Although mutants complete with powers of their own, they were still children confronted with a giant bear and a giant prehistoric crocodile tearing pieces out of one another. Had she been in her right mind, at attempt would have been made to avoid the young mutants. Had she been in her right mind, she wouldn't have been going after a bear at all. She roared at the by-standards and swished her tail back and forth, feeling it collide with someone behind her.
The bear took a second swipe at her face, its claws digging into almost the exact same place the first assault had hit home. She screeched in rage and pain as the trickle of blood turned into a stream. Before the bear could take its claw back to safety, Amber snapped at it, attempting to take a chunk out in revenge for the creature having landed another wound upon her.
The kitchen was in chaos, with broken glass and discarded food all over the floor. Numerous teenagers were scattered throughout, some screaming and running, others paralyzed with terror. A young with red web-patterns across his skin lay on the ground, prone, having been swiped off his feet by Amber's great tail. How could she have been responsible for such damage? Her mind screamed from underneath the instincts of the boar crock to regain control.

"Thank you." It wasn't surprising that Gemma hadn't originally remembered her. Not only did she suppose that there were probably quite a lot of students to come through her walls, but she looked a lot different than she once had as well. Where once she had been a pale, small girl with black eyes, now she was a walking corpse. Likely very few who had only known her at that time would recognize her now.
"I don't know, maybe?" What to do with her future wasn't really something she'd thought much about. In the woods, life was a day to day occurrence. Now? Mostly her planning for the future stopped at trying to reintegrate into human society and getting her GED because apparently that was important.
"My plans probably aren't what most would consider 'acceptable'." She laughed a little nervously. "Unless you count living as a dinosaur and hunting stray cats and dogs as acceptable." Yes, she was serious. Yes, she had subsisted on many a stray cat or dog. It wasn't like she was eating people, or anything.

The plants were nice and this was all ready an activity she could see herself doing more regularly. Maybe if she asked Gemma she might be able to get her own little corner of the garden to care for all on her own? What were the possibilities of growing something that resembled a Mesozoic garden? Something to consider.
"It is pretty amazing, isn't it?" His enthusiasm reminded her of her early days at the Mansion. "Its not always easy being a mutant and finding a place you feel like you can belong. This is one of those few places." She hadn't always looked like a walking corpse and even when she looked more human, the statement was true.
"Best of luck in becoming an X-Man. Do you mind if I ask what your power is?" Her sister, Aura, had taught her to be proud of what powers you were gifted with and that it was a question she should always feel comfortable asking and answering.

Ambrosia was good at reading people and could tell the woman in front of her didn't have much interest in the more conventional wares of the store. That was all right though, she had expected that almost the moment she saw her. It was her other insights and resources that would help in this situation.
"Too many," she agreed with a sad shake of her head. People could be such cruel bastards and that included humans and mutants alike. She listened to the sad story of what the other woman had gone through with sorrow in her heart. "That's such a horrible thing for someone to do to someone else. I'm glad to year someone came and rescued you. Do you need a place to stay? Food to eat? Anything at all?" If only she had the resources to challenge such a corrupt organization directly.
"You've got a beautiful ability." She wasn't much for weapons herself, but the confidence with which the other woman spoke of her abilities was evident. "I can create faerie fire and change into a tiny dragon. Did you want to see? By the way, my name's Ambrosia." She tried to be as friendly and welcoming as she knew how to be.

Amber was well aware of the great size of the crustacean and how many might consider her more than a little intimidating, but she found her to be social and almost comforting to be around. Maybe it was as simple as not being the most physically discomforting person in the room, but she was glad she'd pushed through her anxiety and sat down to chat.
"I don't know too much about adapteds and Gemma's pretty much the only one I know. If you get close tot them, your powers disappear. I think its an aura, or something. For mutants like us, it makes us look normal for a bit." Unlike many physically mutated mutants, Amber wasn't really ashamed of what she was nor did she really have a desire to look normal. Aura had taught her to be proud of everything she was and every gift she had been born with and she tried her best to live by that. Even so, it was sometimes hard to come to terms with being something half dead.
"Maybe you should talk to her. Its quite a shock the first time, but its pretty cool too."

Amber felt oddly helpless and that was not a usual situation for her. Having spent months in the woods alone and, before that, having worked with Aura on numerous missions, she'd never realized her profound lack of knowledge in some arenas. At was an awakening, of sorts, that perhaps she had far too much reliance upon her powers and should, perhaps, begin to learn survival skills in case she didn't have access to her non-human forms. It was an unexpected realization that, for all her proficients hunting, gathering and otherwise thriving in the wild, without access to her powers she would have been dead.
"You're welcome. My name is Amber." How long would it take for words be begin feeling natural on her tongue again? A long time, as she recalled from the last time she'd been lost in the woods. Of course, that time was different. That time she had lost herself completely to the dinosaur she had become, forgetting all shreds of her human self and becoming the prehistoric hunter in mind as well as body. It was one of the most traumatic experiences she had ever been through and not one she cared to repeat. This time, at least, to leave had been her own choice and throughout it all she remembered herself.
She wondered at the stranger's story, how he had come to be here and how he had come to be so injured. She wondered at his relative comfort with her, a walking corpse in the middle of frigid Alaska. Even in present circumstances, she was all too aware that most would not react so kindly towards her. Those were his stories to tell if he chose too, however, and she didn't ask.
As Hades worked, Amber watched his actions carefully and if asked, was prepared to silently assist in any way that was needed. Now aware of where she lacked certain skills, she wasn't about to allow those skills to remain lacking for long. Always a quick learner, she vowed to acquire such skills as might one day be needed.

The first few chords sent a thrill of excitement through her. There was something special about working out a rhythm with a new partner, as your melody and their melody twirled and combined around one another seeking that perfect balance between them. Sometimes it was a little clumsy at first, but that was all a part of the magic. This time it went smoother than most and she smiled at Cait as the music began to take hold of her. It never got old!
"There she is! Playing her stupid music like always!."
Oh no. That sounded like a familiar voice. It couldn't be though, could it? It wasn't like she had her protest circle with her, or anything. It wasn't like she was that well known...was she? Her music became faster and heavier to match the notes of her partner.
"The traitors playing with humans again eh?"
This time she did lift her head and a quick count indicated at least 5 or 6 people in a very angry looking group. The man with the unusually coloured skin who had spoken last was familiar, as were a couple of the others. Great. This was exactly what she needed right now. And by exactly what she needed, what she really meant was exactly what she didn't need. Not now or ever.
"I don't suppose there's any way you'd just let us leave in peace?," she asked, meeting the gaze of a bumblebee girl she'd seen in the past and who had always seemed a little less into the whole violence and intimidation than the others. She didn't really expect a positive answer and the nasty snickers she received from the group only served to reinforce that expectation. Crap.

The woman seemed nervous and uncertain. Certainly she wouldn't be the first mutant to have come through the shop doors to have such a reaction. Unfortunately, more often than not the life of a mutant was a hard one. Between day to day bigotry, powers that were sometimes difficult to get a handle on and occasional violence, there were many challenges. Her own history had been more kind than many, which was one of the reasons she had dedicated herself to helping other mutants.
"Hey, don't worry about it. As far as what I do here, that depends. Of course, I sell various items and objects appropriate for witches across the Pagan spectrum. As you can see, we have all sorts of things that might be of interest." She waved her hand to encompass the shop where there was everything from books on magic to divination tools to incense and crystals.
"I think, however, you might be asking about what I do for mutants, right?" She paused a moment, waiting for some kind of response. "Mostly I help match mutants to the resources they need. Things like food, shelter, mutant-friendly establishments, that sort of thing. I also provide a friendly and non-judgmental ear for those who need one so, if you need to talk, I'm here for you." She spoke softly and kept her expression open and honest. Experience had taught her that some mutants were easily spooked and she was concerned the woman might be one of them.

I'm wondering if anyone might have an interest in an underground mutant fight club. What I'm thinking is battle to unconsciousness or submission with a mutant healer in employ in case things get too far out of hand. Instead of weight classes, there could be power categories in order to help match suitable opponents to one another. For example, there could be an elemental category, psychic category, ect, as well as the possibility of a free for all category in which anyone could be made to face anyone.

The bear was clearly angry but so was the boar crock. First blood had been drawn and she was the one bleeding. Unacceptable! How dare this furry white creature hurt it? How dare it think to challenge her? Amber's own mind was nearly consumed under the rage of the creature who's form she had taken and it was all she could do to not lose herself in it completely.
Despite her rage and despite her belief that she was the superior predator, suddenly she found the bear's arms wrapped around her and then suddenly she found herself lifted clear off the ground and hurled hurled into the side of the building. She felt the window-frame fracture around her body and heard the glass window shatter at the impact. Only the thick scales covering her entire body prevented the shards of glass from penetrating her skin and making her bleed, but the pain of the impact was still sharp.
Letting out another roaring scream of rage, she righted herself, lowered her head and charged her enemy. At least one scream could be heard in the background, coming from the kitchen, but she was barely aware of it. The only thing that mattered was that this unholy creature pay with its life for hurting her and woe to anyone who tried to stand in her way.

Amber waited patiently for Derek to come back feeling vaguely...excited maybe? Ya, apparently that was the right word for it. How long had it been since she'd been excited about anything? A very long time. Maybe learning to garden really was the right choice. A predator by nature, there was an allure to the tranquility of tending a garden that drew her.
"Thanks," she accepted the watering can. Of course, maybe in the future her gardening might have to be done mostly at night since it wasn't exactly convenient to have one hand occupied with holding an umbrella. Well, that was nothing new. She preferred the night, anyway.
"I was here a long time ago but then I left. I've been back a few weeks now." She followed his example and choose a different patch of flowers to water. "How do you like it here so far?"

Half way through her shift, Ambrosia hummed softly to herself as she worked on tidying her shop. It had been a slow day today and those were always the hardest to get through. In truth, there wasn't much that needed to be tidied but when there was nothing else to do, busy work was the best she could come up with. In truth, it had been slow a lot recently and she was worried that her activist activities were starting to have a negative effect on their clientele. Sure, she brought in a healthy number of mutants but, unfortunately, it sometimes seemed that for every mutant she brought in, she lost 2 humans who just couldn't get past their own bigotry. Dear Gods, she sometimes hated the bigotry in the world! It was just one more sign that her time there was coming to an end and she really needed to get herself into school to follow her true dream of becoming a counselor and social worker specializing in mutant patients.
The bell on the door jangled a someone entered and she walked to the front of the store to greet the newest guest. She found a somewhat nervous young woman with large, innocent eyes. That, in itself, wasn't unusual but the flashes of blue were. Likely she was a mutant and likely she was a mutant looking for help.
"Hello, I'm Ambrosia. Is there anything I can help you out with?" She smiled, trying to be welcoming an unassuming. Fortunately, she was good at both. Her naturally friendly and easy going personality combined with her even features usually worked to her advantage. Elves were cute and kind of mysterious rather than scary or intimidating. In some ways, it made her a good middle point in interacting with humans and visible mutants: She was just visible enough to stand out while still feeling safe and non-dangerous.
