The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

All right, I'm figuring the town and the coalition need a thread to clarify where the town is, what it looks like and what are the current situations with our characters so we can start posting without improvising too much. Jorge and Gina should decide what goes and what stays, I figure? I'm a newbie, so apologies if I end up going on the wrong tangent, but this plot has got me inspired.
I think the town could be located in or near Central Park. According to the MRO map, it's close to where many people and locations used to be, there are lakes and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservoir (which I'm not so sure how good of a source of water would that be after a Kaytlin created explosion and 3 years of plot), it seems central enough for NPC New York survivors to converge and there are some big buildings nearby that could have survived in a ruined state to work as a main base or as defensive structures, like that church in the background.
The very border of the reservoir is pretty much trees and empty areas, so if the town is set right next to the shore, they'd have to build it from scratch and doesn't sound to me like it'd be very secure. Still, they could wall off a large portion of the park, fill it with shanties and tents, have patrols, guard posts and enough grass and earth to at least try to grow something from it. With access to water and food, they'd be prime candidates to attacks from other parties. Jorge would also always have water near him in this scenario. The reservoir doesn't have to be in pristine state, in fact, it'd be better for dramatic purposes if the water needs some serious treatment to get rid of all sorts of contamination and fresh, clean, drinkable water is scarce. After the explosion, all sorts of crap could have fallen in the reservoir.
If the town is set on nearby buildings and streets, getting to the water would mean a short trek that could be perilous. On a street based town, the beginning and end of the street could be walled off along with the alleys, and the ruined buildings nearby could give them shelter. They're not exactly rock solid and several parts of many buildings should be impassable or too dangerous to traverse. This could alctually make them less secure than anyone wants, since there would be a myriad of nooks and crannies for people to sneak in and out of, along with dark corners and dangerous areas.
Or it could be a combination of both. People living in the nearby ruined buildings with walled off streets, then trying to work the lands of the park. This set up would also make for the most open and easiest to infiltrate.
Since it's been three years since the apocalypse and we're not starting this plot from the foundation of the town, there's no need for intro threads among townies. Everyone should know everyone at least by name or looks. Townie characters should be free to roam the streets at their own peril, not just from other characters, but from the city itself. Dangling wires, falling rocks, uneven surfaces, flooded areas and the like should be all over the place. Here's a bunch of post apocalyptic links to images found on the web for inspiration purposes. Typing "post apocalyptic" on Google images will get you plenty of those and get you in the right mind frame.
Feel free to add, debate or destroy my suggestions, I won't mind. You can also post the basics of your character, what they'll be doing or what they've been through in the last three years and other townies should be aware off, or you can do that in proper RP threads if you prefer.
As for my character, he'll be 18, will be skinny and have a wimpy first time beard that he's never shaven. He actually respects Jorge, is friends with Gina and admires Markus' tactical mentality. I intend to give him a rifle with a very limited bullet supply and a shiv. He is not a skilled sniper or even adept in the use of the knife. He'll have much better control of his emotions (he's been through a lot, which has helped to numb him down to tragedy), giving him a bit of a handle on his dark mode and he will have used it on other creatures besides his dogs, though none of the newer thralls have survived (they've been killed or sent on suicidal missions).
Miles role on the town will be that of a forager, explorer, scout and even guard in a pinch. His dogs are self sustainable, so he sends them to do the actual hunting and bring it to town. He may help the coalition at times, depending on if what they're up to actually helps the town, but he's not a full blown member of it.
By the way, I'm decent at drawing stuff, though it's currently on the bottom of my hobbies to kill time with. If you guys need anything drawn regarding the town, let me know.
Thanks for doing all this research, Miles. I think your ideas sound great!
I'd like to add in something. If possible, I'd like to have Sebby's Church be part of the town. It wouldn't really make sense for them to be living off on their own, since their mission is to do service. Not much use if they only do it for their own members. They would be spending a lot of time helping to defend the town, helping to clean it up, helping to put it back into a nice orderly place that everyone could use. As an added bonus, the building they use is already really close to the park... you could even have it be the one in your photo if you wanted.
This would also give the town a little more fire power, and make things feel a little more fair if it comes to an all out battle with the Amazons. Having a healer nearby wouldn't hurt, either.

Hi Miles!
I just wanted to say that you did an excellent job! Kudos to you, sir! Excellent research and thank you for taking the time to do this. I love your ideas and actually agree that the Town would be best is located near the reservoir. Jorge would have tried to stick around there so that he would have plenty of water to manipulate in order to defend people.
As for leadership, I was never really thinking of Jorge as being a leader. I thought of the Town as more of a collective with everyone having a voice. So, Miles, Gina, and anyone else in the town, it you have an idea, go with it!
