The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Stupid Alister.
He wouldn't even let her be the one to come up with the idea of leaving. He denied her that little plan of revenge, or, at least, her plan to symbolically express her disapproval with him. It was 'fortuitous' that she was going to leave now, because there were some news jerks who might visit their home soon to learn about the incident she was a part of, and it would be better if she didn't have to go through that.
A good night's sleep didn't help her feel much better about killing somebody. To be fair, it wasn't the first time she'd gotten anyone killed, but it was the first time she'd done it on purpose, with the intent of doing so. She'd told herself that it was entirely justified, but that didn't work. She told herself that she could tell other people that she'd killed someone, and that could mean all kinds of street cred. This, also, failed to make her feel better for the time being. Maybe it would work when she actually went about telling people.
When she walked through the golden doors that day, after months away from her beloved home, she wasn't nearly as happy as she expected. In fact, she was visibly depressed. Her head was hung so low that she didn't even notice the front desk at first. She was dwelling on the weight and unwieldiness of her backpack and sleeping bag, and the difficulties that carrying these things up several flights of stairs promised for her.
Lisa looked up from what she was doing. "Kaitlyn! Welcome home! ... Are you okay?"
Spending another day with Lisa, Syn and the human discussed topics regarding some of the other residents of Sanctuary. Several stuck out immediately based solely on their abilities while others stuck out from their views on humans and mutants. One had caught the dark princess’s eye in particular.
The first thing that stood out was that this mutant had made it into the Order and wasn’t even a teenager yet. It was a young girl by the name of Kaitlyn Faust, the second thing that stood out was her name. Syn remembered Lori's last name was Faust. Was this girl her little sister perhaps? With further inquiry Syn discovered the girl had done some major damage to Sanctuary. “Little firecracker this one.” Lisa grimaced and nodded.
No sooner had they begun talking about the young girl more in depth when both women noticed the golden doors open and Kaitlyn walked through. When the doors had finally closed shut was when Syn was able to see the girl better rather than backlit. She didn’t look very happy and Lisa was first to question poor Kaitlyn. Syn stepped around the front of Lisa’s desk and looked the girl over before kneeling down.
Trying to take the girl’s mind off whatever was making her look sad and to start talking Syn found a commonality. Pointing at Kaitlyn’s shoes and then at her own she spoke softly. “I see you like the same color I do. It looks very good on you.” She gave a little smile in hopes of getting something of a positive reaction

Lisa wasn't alone behind the front desk. She seemed to be going through some files along with... somebody else? Kaitlyn didn't recognize her. Must be somebody new; somebody who came in during the last few months. Why was Lisa looking through those files with this person, anyway? Kaitlyn herself wasn't even supposed to be looking through that stuff.
Soon, the newcomer was kneeling down next to her, giving her a compliment.
"... Thanks." Kaitlyn answered hesitantly, managing a smile. That was nice. She didn't often recieve compliments like that; in fact, she wasn't even sure if she ever had. If it had happened, it was a long time ago, or it wasn't particularly memorable for her.
Now would be a good time to reciprocate with the compliments, but Kaitlyn wasn't entirely sure how she felt about this lady's getup. She wasn't even sure how to go about complimenting it. This was a conversational world where the girl had almost never tread before; it was probably best if she didn't say anything, she decided. She changed the subject.
"So, are you friends with Lisa?"
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
An attempt at a smile appeared on the girls face following Syn’s compliment along with a simple reply. Her gesture had worked as she had hoped it would. The ice was now broken and perhaps they could talk a little more freely.
Little Kaitlyn wasted no time with a question of her own. Smiling back at the girl Syn nodded. “Yes, I’m very good friends with Miss Lisa. I’ve known her for some time now.” Keeping her eyes on the girl Syn didn’t think there was much more to say about that topic, and changed the subject herself back to concern for the little figure next to her.
“Why do you look so down dear? Was someone mean to you?” They were honest questions as the dark lady wanted to know what was truly upsetting Kaitlyn. If someone had been mean then they would soon regret it. Even though this small girl possessed the great power she did Syn guessed she still had feelings of that of a little girl. Feelings that could easily be thrown out of balance from an action or statement.

"Well..." Kaitlyn sighed, shrugging to adjust the weight of the backpack on her shoulders. After a few seconds of silent consideration and staring at the wall in front of her, she directed her attention back to the darkly-clad woman and spoke up.
"I guess a couple people were mean to me. I... I had to... kill someone." her voice cracked. "But that was just so he wouldn't kill any of my friends." She added quickly. "And... I guess none of it was really his fault." She lowered her eyes again. "It's kinda complicated."
It was nice to have somebody to talk with about it, though, even if this somebody was a total stranger. If she was a good friend of Lisa's she was probably alright.
Syn listened carefully to the little girl’s explanation for her current disposition. Her answer sounded reasonable enough as she was in fact a child so killing someone might’ve traumatized the poor thing. Perhaps it was the first time she had seen someone killed or it was just her first time being the killer.
“I see. From the sound of it you did the right thing to protect your friends.” Reaching out and gently rubbing the girls left shoulder Syn tried to help console her. “Sometimes things like that happen. It might not always be an easy thing, but if you truly care for your friends or your family then you have to stand up for them.”

It was nice to hear that from somebody else.
Even so, the part about caring for friends and family made Kaitlyn shift uncomfortably. If she was going to fish for sympathy from this lady, she figured she might as well tell the whole story. She put her sleeping bag down against a wall.
"That wasn't the worst part," the girl continued. "The whole reason he wanted to shoot anyone in the first place was because two of my other friends tricked him into doing it. And they didn't even warn me."
She paused for a moment, staring not so much at the lady's face as through it. "I guess I can only call one of them my friend, actually."
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
“What did they do to trick the man, and what sort of man was he anyway?” More of the girl’s story starting coming forth now. In her mind Syn started piecing the event together as information became available from Kaitlyn’s lips. She listened intently so that the girl knew she had Syn’s full attention.

"Well..."
This would be hard to explain. Kaitlyn decided to set her backpack down, too. And why not take a seat on her sleeping bag while she was at it? There was a lot of walking to be done between the Sanctuary and Manhattan, even with the help of public transportation.
"I don't know for sure how, but... one of them can communicate telepathically with rats, and when the guy was waving a gun at everyone, he was saying stuff about how God turned into a swarm of rats and told him to save our souls by killing us or something.So... yeah." She paused to consider the second half of that question. "He was probably crazy already, really. My friends probably just made him worse. Well, friend." Letitia was her friend. Alister was not. This hasty correction was both necessary and important.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
“So one of them taunted a man who was already talking crazy and waving a gun around? Then it was probably best that you did what you did in order to stop him from hurting you or your friends.” So far it sounded like kids playing a joke. Only catch was the joke was played on someone with a gun and who was already in an unstable condition mentally.
“I can see how that could shake you up, but deep down you’re strong. You showed that when you saved your friends and yourself.” Syn gave a reassuring smile. Her hope was to empower the girl as she’d done with others in the past.

The compliments were nice, but all the same... Kaitlyn had a feeling that she was doing a very bad job of telling her story.
"She didn't taunt him, though. And neither of my friends were ever in trouble. What happened was, I think she actually... tricked him into thinking the rats she talks to were God... somehow." How on earth Letitia managed to pull that off would forever remain a mystery to her. "Then she used her rats to tell him to run into the youth group at Sebastian's church cult thing and wave a gun at everyone. And there was another guy who made her do that whole thing, and he was planning on making me kill the other guy the whole time. He just never told me."
For a moment while she was explaining this, Kaitlyn realized just how bizarre her life had become.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
A look of confusion washed over Syn’s face. “Did you say someone else was making your friend use the rats the way she did? And that possibly that same person wanted you to kill that guy? Did you hear someone speaking to you or something?” Syn wondered if possibly a mutant with mental abilities had done the whole thing.

Kaitlyn gave her a confused stare for a few moments. "I... uh... oh!" The meaning of that last question finally clicked. "He's not a telepath or anything. He just sees the future. And I guess he also spends a lot of time bossing some of my friends and I around, so that's why the girl with the rats did that"
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
“Who is this person that bosses you and your friends around? How long has this been going on?” Syn’s protective instinct had kicked in. She didn’t want someone outside of the Order to be bossing Kaitlyn around. Not only that but she wanted to know who this mysterious person was period.

The growing outrage in this stranger's voice was music to Kaitlyn's ears. She felt vindicated. Finally, somebody who seemed to understand how much of a jerk Alister was! But that didn't mean she should spill the beans and tell this woman all about who the Oracle was or why it was okay for him to be bossing people around.
And... crap! Spilling the beans was all that she had been doing ever since she walked into the Sanctuary again!
"Um... I don't know if I should be telling you so much about all of this stuff, actually." Her face became flushed. Some of that stuff was kind of a secret, and she was ready to tell everyone all about it just because she felt bad. Could she be any more of an idiot right now?
Well, maybe it wasn't so bad. Maybe she was talking to somebody she really could trust. So, maybe she should establish whether this strange woman was entirely trustworthy. "And... uh... who are you, exactly?"
From behind her desk, Lisa shook her head and allowed herself to grin, as if amused by something that only she seemed to find funny.
