The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Devyn opened her eyes to find herself in a dark room. Everything was pitch black and she was unable to see so much as her hand in front of her face. Feeling around her with her hands, she realized that she was on a soft pillowee surface. She felt no hint of fear, although she could not remember where she was nor how she had gotten there.
Devyn carefully got to her feet and set her hand down onto the surface she had been lying on. It was approximately waist height and, after carefully walking around its edges, she came to the conclusion that it seemed to fit the rough dimensions of a bed. There didn't appear to be anything in the way of blankets or pillows upon the bed, however.
Taking a step away from the bed, Devyn did another careful walk around, trying to discover, by feel alone, what was in her immediate area. Her first lap around the bed resulted in nothing but smooth, flat floor underneath her feet. She wasn't wearing any shoes and the floor was slightly rough and could to the touch. A second, wider lap around the bed resulted in bumping into a small table. Feeling around on top of the table, she found a match box and a candle and proceeded to light the candle with one of the matches from within the box.

Once lit, the candle illuminated the room Devyn found herself in. The room was sparse, with only the bed and the table inside. The floor was smooth stone, as were the walls. If she were asked, she would say she was in a cave, though the walls and floor were far too smooth for the cave to be naturally made. The walls went up higher than the light of the candle illuminated and she couldn't make out how high up the roof went.
Looking down at her own body, Devyn found herself wearing a pale white dress. It reminded her, in a rather disturbing fashion, of the dress she had been forced to wear the night she had been kidnapped and almost sacrificed and the thought was not a good one at all. Her feet were bare and feeling cold. The moment she thought of her cold feet, she noticed a pair of white slippers at the edge of the room and walked over to put them on.
Once the slippers were on, Devyn walked around the edge of the room. While in the center, the candle light wasn't sufficient to see the boundaries of the room, but it didn't take her long to discover them. The room was no more than 20 ft by 20 ft and was square with curved corners making up the walls. There was only a single pathway out, a much thinner stone tunnel that faded into blackness in the distance.

It was with a sense of anticipation that Devyn began walking down the tunnel. The tunnel was thin, barely wider than her body and not wide enough to stretch out her arms. The roof was a mere foot above her head and every surface was smooth, carved stone. It was with a sense of anticipation and just an inkling of dread that she began making her way down the mysterious tunnel. No sounds outside of her footsteps could be heard.
Devyn lost track of the amount of time she spent walking down the tunnel and of the numerous twists and turns she made. There were no side tunnels and only one way to go that didn't involve turning back the way she had come. Feeling a prickling on the back of her neck, Devyn turned around only to find that the tunnel she had been walking down for what seemed like hours had disappeared, to be replaced by a solid rock wall. That wasn't good.
Upon turning back around after realizing that her retreat had been blocked off, Devyn noticed that the tunnel had finally ended and opened up into a great cavern. The cavern, unlike the rest of the dull grey tunnel, was filled with sparkling crystal. Bright, jagged crystal could be seen on every surface. A light shone from above, although she couldn't see the specific source of said light. She blew out the candle, since it was no longer needed to light her way.

The cavernous room Devyn found herself in was nothing short of stunning. She could not recall ever having seen anything half so beautiful as the room she was currently within. Rainbows danced upon the glittering crystal walls and ceiling, literally taking her breath away. Yet, she couldn't escape the prickling of fear that still existed on the back of her neck. Something wasn't right here, despite all appearances to the contrary.
Feeling compelled to enter the room, Devyn took a step forward and then another. Nothing changed or jumped out of the shadows to attack her. Yet, with every step she took the feeling of unease increased. Passing the threshold separating the grey tunnel from the gleaming cavern, the light touched her skin causing it to glow faintly. Aside from the faint purple light now emanating from her flesh, her skin didn't feel any different.
In the center of the room was a calm pool filled with water. It was that pool, Devyn knew, that she had to approach and it was within that pool that whatever evil was in here, would come from. From the very core of her being, she didn't want to approach the pool nor did she want to look into it because she knew, whatever she found staring back at her would be more horrible than anything she could possibly imagine. She could not halt her steps, however, and every grudging step brought her closer to that which she feared the most.
