The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Skydancer, yes Emily can be knocked unconscience. In the future I see her looking for survivors in remote parts of the United States, but since we are keeping this local, I shall stick to New York. I don't know is this question has been asked, but will the nuclear radiation have any effect on different species. Example: Little turtles become human-turtle creatures that fight crime like ninjas and can speak!
How about a Colosseum? Post apocalyptic death matches run by some kind of group of raiders/settlers. Just to add to Roaches former idea but in a larger sense and also have the people who run it capture outsiders and force them to fight in it.

Idea for the unexploded nuke: It would be awesome if Celeste had built her bunker around it. That would explain why the more combat-oriented mutants haven't just stolen her stash: you do not want to start fights around the nuke. Plus, Celeste's got the attitude to pull off keeping a nuke around with confidence.
Perhaps, there should be a coalition, in case any other large force may be assembled and put to a possible bad use. Some kind of safety net for mutants who just wanna survive in the post apocalyptic world, but in the face of an impending evil, they assemble (Not like some kind of super hero squad just some flares maybe) like minutemen to address the problem and deal with it diplomatically or forcefully. That's of course if the coalition can decide on what to do.

Do you mean something to the effect of trying to place order back into the world? Kind of like a group of mutants trying to enforce justice and ensure survival and cooperation is possible for all?
Some what like that, but more of a centralized authority, they only group together when a lot is at stake and there's a lot at risk. Like peace keepers. Other then that they don't care about anything or anyone else in the Grim Future.

I like the general idea but I would think a centralized authority in a post apocalyptic future like the one being planned for would be a little less central than they might like. I could see something to the effect of them trying to act as a centralized athority and having a large group of mutants and/or other survivors accepting them as such, but still have vast groups of people that wanted nothing to do with the so-called authority figures. For example, I doubt the Amazons would have anything to do with any authority beyond their own.
Still, I really do like the idea and I think it could definately add some intrigue and another level of conflict to an all ready chaotic and volatile situation.
The coalition could always be Jorge's secret weapon, or someone he calls when things look like they are going to tip out of his control. *glances at amazons*

Ooh, I would absolutely love to have an epic Amazon vs. Coalition confrontation. Who's with me for the supreme awesomeness that would be certain to be?
