The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Mutations can bring complications and even danger. Their are many Mutants who require Special care due to their mutations. My Sister for example can not stand sunlight" She replied though she had no idea why Humans being less complicated mattered at all. Humans were human and would eventually die out on their own, weather they killed off mutant kind in the meantime was the danger in it.
"Well i can certainly help you learn to fight and all the intricate parts of the dance if you like, i think the mansion has a teacher for ir. Santuary really does not have teachers but a lot of mostly friendly people" she said not recalling who the defense teacher was but she thought she recalled hearing something of that. Sanctuary seemed to run itself as far as the people went and Aura had tought herself most things she knew since the woods or learned from small groups.
"Yes you have been given an amazing gift as well have. I can honestly say i hope no one has need to become like me" Aura said a bit sadly. She understood the toll could take on people. She had watched more then one give up and simply walk into a stream of bullets, had considered the route once or twice herself. "Defense is an important thing to learn and protecting others a noble thing. It is also very dangerous and a quick way to wind up hurt or even killed" she said not wanting to drive skydancer from the idea but feeling she needed to make sure she knew the truth of the matter. Protecting others was dangerous.

In a way, Skydancer was thankful that her own mutation didn't require too much special care. Sure, her diet was a little strange but she didn't have any serious restriction on her actions or interactions. In some ways she felt as if she got the short end of the stick with being one of the visible freaks, but in other ways she supposed she should consider herself fortunate that she was neither a risk to those around her nor to herself. "I think sometimes I forget that people have it worse than me and I feel a little too sorry for myself," she spoke her thoughts out loud.
"Do you really think you could help teach me to fight?" Skydancer asked, enthusiastic. "Koga's offered to teach me martial arts, but its good to have more than one coach and to approach things from multiple angles because each coach has their own strengths and weaknesses." If she was going to learn to fight she was going to learn the right way. If something was worth learning then it was worth mastering and she wasn't in the habit of doing anything half assed or limiting herself to being second best.
"I don't know what I think about some of the things I've heard and seen you do," Skydancer replied honestly. She was torn on the issue. "I know killing is wrong but I know the things that some humans have done is wrong too and if no one is willing to do something about them the legal way, then maybe its justified that someone do something about them. So I really don't know. I don't want to kill anyone, I know that for sure. But I do want to be useful, to use my powers to help other mutants. I think maybe its up to other people to decide what's right and wrong when it comes to how far their willing to go to justify their beliefs." It sounded good anyway, although she felt a little more unsure of it all than her voice suggested.
"Feeling sorry for one self can do terrible things to ones mind" Of course in Aura's experience as tattered as her memory was, it seemed to get people killed a lot. It was distracting and a distraction in battle could very easily prove fatal to one fighting. Of course Aura also felt the best opponent was a dead one, it meant they could not hurt you again or try to. Humans were fair game but Aura kept killing mutants to as minimum as she could.
"Of course, if their is one thing i understand it is the dance of combat. More goes into a fight then many may think. Power and skill and thinking are all major factors as is willingness to kill and to be killed. After all if your going to put yourself in harms way you must accept the fact that the very act may kill you. Even if you do not wish to kill the person your fighting may have no such reservations" She said easily and honestly. She was being serious and wanted her friend to understand the reality of the situation.
"i am guilty of a great many things over the years, It is very likely that if the human's caught me they would simply kill me. I was trained to follow any order, even if it was completely suicidal and tactically unsound. It has only been in the past year that i have become much more selective in the things i do. But i make no apolagies" Aura said simply. She felt bad occasionally when she killed a mutant but not humans or animals.
"You could be a great fighter however, with your powers you'l dance more beautfully then i one day maybe" she said having seen the strength behind the Tendrills in Skydancers body.

"Its been good for me to regain my passion," Skydancer agreed with a nod of her head. "It was touch and go for a while and I didn't really have any reason to keep on living. Then, when I least expected it, suddenly I had a reason again. Its done wonders." She couldn't say that she had been quite to the point of being suicidal but she hadn't been that far off either.
"I know the basics of combat but I need to know more. Its important to strive to be the best at anything you do. If its worth dedicating yourself to then its worth excelling at, otherwise what's the point? If someone is willing to kill me and I'm not willing to do the same, then so be it I'll fight at a handicap and simply have to be that much better than them." Another person might have been concerned about sounding smugor egotistical, but for Skydancer it was simply a fact. If she was actually better then where was the ego in that? It was simply truth. She knew she wasn't there yet, but nothing would stop her from being so eventually.
"You sound like a soldier," Skydancer answered, feeling somewhat disturbed by the answer. She had seen the good in Aura, how dedicated she was to helping mutants like herself and it was more than a little chilling to see the bad in her too. She was beginning to understand why Saph and the others had warned her about the girl and what she'd done.
"I intend to be a great fighter." It was stated frankly, neither bragging nor modest but simply as truth. "If you are willing to help me learn. Koga can teach me many things, I think, but to be the best I also need to understand the mind of someone willing to kill, whether or not I am willing to take a life myself." It was strange to think the direction her life had so recently taken that she should now have to consider the realities of the possibility of needing to take a life. Yet this was her life now and she was forcedto adapt to it as she may.
Skydancers word's were sad but not all that uncommon. The life Mutants had in this world often forced terrible things on them and some did not deal with such pressure as well as others. "I have seen many people fall do to pressure. Combat has a way of eroding the will of many fighters untill their is nothing left." she commented with a slight shrug. She had watched it happon to most people, why it did not seem to happon to her she was unsure but she had a good guess it had to do with the forest.
"You right, one must apply them selfs fully. I train everyday, constantly trying to improve to grow stronger. Still i can not agree with your methodology. A dead opponent can not harm you, those you care about oe anyone else again. Either way Knowing where people vital organs are located will be very useful, as well as other bits of anatomy. You can hit a man, dmaage no organs and he may still bleed to death, the humans will never forgive such acaidents" she said with honets belief.
"I was a soilder, Humans decided they wanted biological weapons. So they kidnapped Youg mutants whose powers were just emerging and trained us to kill. To earn breakfast we had to kill a human each day and often we were forced to hunt our own food. All the while the Humans would attack with automatic weapons and mortars. These hand's have killed more people then i can count or remember and these eyes have watched far more blown a apart or shredded by gunfire. After awhile you get used to the killing, watching friend's die beside you and knowing that if you had done something diffident that friend might still live. The dance can cost you greatly as well. I can only hope that you do not have to bury those you care about, as i had to do, as no one else lived through that last awful fight" she said her eyes seeming to glaze over a bit as she spoke, as she recalled long forgotten memories.
"I encountered Koga once, it was one of the more shameful times in my life. At the time i was having trouble distinguishing reality from the memories in my mind and would at times lapse back into my days in the forest. I thought i was hunting a traitor from my past but in reality i was in an orphanage, i killed several people including those to young to display their powers if they were destined to have them. " she said her voice expressing regret over her actions. She never liked killing the young if she could help it.
"I do not intentionally kill Mutants unless ordered to, nor i do i kill the young who may not have displayed their powers yet. However our people are in danger and i will save them.she went on. Aura had morals, Twisted morals by many standards but morals none the less. "In the city i tend to kill Gang members, homeless people and loose woman, the kind of people most people never notice missing or don't report" she said honestly.
"If you choose to protect humanity we may well come into conflict" she said simply as if it were a normal thing that might happen.

Aura was such an enigmatic individual, someone to both feel sorry for, to admire and, sometimes, to be revolted by. She was a confusing mix of everything, an example of extremes. Yet, despite the evils she had so blandly admitted to committing, Skydancer couldn't bring herself to hate her. Some of her actions were worth hating, certainly, and were worth keeping in mind so that she never became like that, but the girl was so passionate and did good in her own way as well and those facts could not be forgotten. Was it possible for good to make up for bad? She didn't know, but if it were she thought such would certainly apply to Aura.
"I can't fault you for practicality," Skydancer agreed with a slight smile. It wasn't something she should be able to smile about, yet somehow she could. It was strange how life changed. "Yet I just don't think I could be that person. I don't think I could be the cold killer you are. You mentioned yourself that you didn't want other mutants to have to become like you. Well, I think I can do good without going too far and that can't be a bad thing, can it?"
"I think it would sadden me if we were to come into conflict," Skydancer replied honestly. The sentiment surprised her a little. "I don't know what I think about protecting humanity, at least not the ones who do terrible things to others and especially our kind. I don't think I could kill them, but I don't know if I could justify protecting them either. Someone has to punish those who do bad things and while I don't know if that someone should be me, I don't know that I could live with protecting them either. Especially not those who harm or kill other mutants. So maybe we won't be the enemies you think we will be." Skydancer shrugged, feeling just as confused and unsure as she sounded. Maybe one day she'd work out all those complicated moral choices in her head, but she hadn't quite managed to do so yet.
"yes their are many who could not endure such blood being on their hand's. If i continue to do my work, their will be fewer of out kind, forced into such horrors. Fate gifted me with the strength to endure it and with my mutation designed me to fight. she said. Aura could not imagine her aura having legal uses that would be of much use. No she was a fighter meant for the dangers of close in combat on the front lines of battile.
"Fate however has different plans for us all and we all must do what we can to aide our people. Let your eyes and ears guide you down your path wherever it may lead. Humans and Mutants are very much alike and we are simply the next stage of their evaluation." she said easily. It was a fact Aura did not like to admit but Humans and mutants were almost identical, their powers alone separating them from the mongrels.
"Well even if we do end up on opposing sides of conflict it is no reason we can not be friends outside of such times. I believe however that Humanity and Mutant kind are heading for a great war that will consume the land and sea, and choke the very skies them selfs. It may not happon in your life time or even my shorter one but it will happon" she said convinced it was the only way fate could flow.

"You have very strong convictions," Skydancer stated. They weren't necessarily her convictions but they were convictions none the less. Whether that was a good thing or bad, she still wasn't entirely certain.
"I'll do what I believe to be right." The problem was that Skydancer was more of a doer than a thinker. Honor among competitors she believed in, but beyond that what use had she of deep moral contemplation in her earlier life? "Being a mutant certainly makes things more complicated. How do you figure out what's right and what's wrong when everything is made of shades of grey?" That seemed to be the question of the decade.
"I'm glad I can count you as a friend, Aura," Skydancer replied authentically. "I admit, I don't have too many of those in this city. Hell, I've never had too many of those even before. I was always too concerned with personal excellence and Olympic dreams and that didn't leave much time for socializing." She shrugged as if it was of no concern. Which, mostly, it wasn't. Except when she was feeling lonely and then it was and loneliness was something she had to deal with more often now than ever before.
"Being what we are makes things very complicated and their are many hard choices out there . My choice was made for me and by the time i considered questioning them it was far to late, i am glad however you will have the time to figure it out" she said knowing Skydancers path was likely different then her own.
"I lack many friends as well, many of those i did have are dead and those since i have come to this city dissapear all to easily. I have no idea why that seems to occur perhaps people are content to just dissapear and live in peace" she said with a shrug not really knowing the reasons things seemed to work as they did. Most friends she had made in the city were no longer arround for various reasons.
Thinking of these people, Aura found herself worrying of Meld and Ambers locations. One had been her best friend the other her sister. She knew nether's location despite putting what many would have considered, considerable funding. Others had also faded away, like geo multiple times and even Aura herself sometimes left for months at a time. Maybe it was just something inherent to their people or maybe it was just who she met.

"Don't you think you could consider making new choices and having a new direction in life now, if you wanted to?" Skydancer had dedicated her entire youth to becoming an Olympic athlete only to have that dream torn from her so she understood how difficult it could to be radically change one's direction in life. Still, she was proof that it was possible.
"I'm sorry you're friends are dead," Skydancer spoke truthfully. She had her own experience with death, even if it was only a single person she had lost. Still, she knew what it was like. "If you want, I can offer to be a friend. Even if, as you suspect, we may one day end up on opposite sides of the conflict." She was certain there were those who would disagree with her decision, marking Aura a murderer and a psychopath, but it felt like the right thing to do and she wasn't about to take it back. "I'm not so easy to kill." She smiled, trying to keep the comment light.
"Did you want to leave now? To head towards Sanctuary?" Despite everything, Skydancer still felt in important to see the place for herself and actually speak to those who lived there. She was starting to feel like she belonged at The Mansion, but how could she make any sort of sure decision without first understanding and experiencing all angles?
"No, i have killed enough humans to fill this shop at least and i am responsible for several very public Massacres, as the humans called them. besides theirs not much else i can do with my gift but fight" she said simply. Aura knew she would never be accepted by humanity or at leasts he believed it. Aura also had no idea her powers were good for anything other then close combat. She could hide but any use of her powers would likely make her suspect.
"Well having to fight over idealogical reasons is certainly no reason we can not be friends. People beliefs tend to differ slightly from person to person anyway" Aura said having never fully grasped that trying to kill somone on the field of combat was usually taken rather personally. Aura figured what happoned in the dance should stay there and what happoned other places should stay there.
"probably a good idea" she said with a nod, getting up. Aura made her way to the door and looked back with a smile. "it's not to far at all from here she said though after she said it she was pretty sure thats why they met here in the first place. Aura sweapt some of her black hair behind her when it came back in front of her eyes however she tried once more, meeting with no more cucess and simply gave up on it.

Skydancer knew a little something about the sort of violent person Aura was, but even so it was rather chilling to hear her discuss her deeds with such blandness. What must have happened in her past to give her such a callous view of life and death? She certainly couldn't be much older than Skydancer her self was, and yet it was clear that her mind had been scarred in ways she could only imagine. It was never easy being a mutant, but she had a feeling Aura's experiences were even more tryng than most.
"Its a good feeling to have friends." Skydancer's voice was a bit said when she spoke. While she didn't regret her childhood, sometimes she felt as if she had missed out on some important thing, that innocence and carefree attitude that so many children seemed to have. Perhaps her childhood had been somewhat innocent, but it had certainly never been carefree. A proper childhood was something she never really got to experience, at least not in the way most people did.
Skydancer nodded her agreement and got up out of her seat. She adjusted her wig slightly before she was ready to follow. "I'm afraid hair is one of those things I can't offer much advice on," she commented with an easy smile, seeing Aura struggle with hers. "I guess I've never had time to learn the more feminine skills."
"Me nether, when it gets to annoying i just form a dagger and cut it. I know how to fight but not much else. Back in the wood's all they did was have us fight, the weak died, those of us who survived did so because we learned to Love combat and to revel in it. When i came to Sanctuary, i had no idea what simple thing's were, like a toilet" she said honestly. The forest had little use for such thing's and life had been highly regimented back then as well.
"What was growing up like for you?' she asked trying to make small talk. SHe lead the way, Sanctuary was pretty close to this place and Aura knew the route very well. Their was littile traffic at the hour and the neighborhood seemed to have more then it's share of Mutants. Aura chose not to mention the reason for this, as she did not think Sky would appreciate it and it was Order Business.
Within ten minutes walk Aura pointed to a large building in the distance. The glint of the golden doors was evident even from the distence. "That is sanctuary" she said with a smile. As they got closer they could see people entering and leaving Sanctuary every so often. "Some stay for a few days and others like me for years, their is no contract or requirements to live there" she said honestly.
