The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Agnes had touched down! And without stumbling! She was very excited for that. After all, the last few times she’s tried that maneuver she ended up falling square on her butt. And it definitely hurt. But thankfully she did not let that fully discourage her. She kept trying and tada! She managed to pull it off today in front of this pretty Irish girl without making a fool of herself. Though why that should matter she was not sure. Probably thoughts for a later time.
A glance to Rebecca and she saw that the girl was slightly gawking. It was quite the humorous look on the girl’s face but she did not laugh at her. Instead she only grinned a little.
>> "Yoo're absolutely amazin', Agnes! If Ah can learn tae lift mah weight, Ah'd loove tae fly wi' ye!"
“That would be awesome,” Agnes said cheerfully. “Then you can join Gina and me on flights. It’s good to having flying companions.”
It was true. Flying has always been the dream of mankind. To be able to do so of your own free will was something that simply could not be rivaled. Agnes, though she only got a few feet off the ground, simply loved it. Gina always raved about it and it truly was an exhilarating experience. She was glad to share such a sensation with anyone. Maybe one, day when she got stronger, she could take Jasmine with her.
Jasmine. She paused as she thought of the name after having caught herself watching the pretty Irish lass. Those thoughts definitely needed to stop.
Ahem.
>> "But yeah, Ah'm ready tae leave. Want tae go tae th' common room? Gina said folk hang out there, right?"
She twitched a little but she nodded nonetheless. She was getting better about being around her fellow mutant students but she still feared that someone would say something. After all, the students that knew of her, knew that at one point she didn’t have wings and now all of a sudden she did? It was hard to explain and she did not like going over the story again and again. But, she had to face that fear. Mutants were mutants and she did not judge anyone. She hoped that in response no one would judge her. And right now there was no better way to test that.
But Rebecca seemed to catch onto Agnes’ hesitation and quickly tried to deliver more options.
Rebecca, such a sweet girl. She nodded gratefully.
“Common room is fine. Besides, I’m sure that my room is a mess, clothes everywhere!” she said with a laugh. She than started to gather up the rest of her materials and hefted them up. “Just let me drop these off at the gardening shed, okay?”

>> “Then you can join Gina and me on flights. It’s good to having flying companions.”
Rebecca nodded, reveling in the idea of twirling through the air beside Gina and Agnes, the wind tossing her hair around. She contemplated the physics of her flying; whether an air current would matter with her levitating using a magnetic field, or whether she would have better control with anklets as well. The thoughts were brief, and she returned to the image of laughing high above the ground with Agnes.
And Gina, of course!
She had to get on practicing more often. "Ah look forward tae it."
>> “Common room is fine. Besides, I’m sure that my room is a mess, clothes everywhere!”
The reoccurring theme of the messy room seemed to carry from Gina to Agnes. Rebecca giggled, having a better idea of who was leaving clothes lying about. "Ah'm guessing Gina's th' messy one of ye two?" Comparing the two girls now, it was easier to see Agnes as the tidy one.
>> Just let me drop these off at the gardening shed, okay?
Rebecca followed obediently. "Ay coorse. An' if ye ever need help here, let me know. Ah loove bein' where it's green." She anticipated more pleasant days like this in the garden with Agnes. That would be nice, she thought with a smile.
There was another option to bring up, if not for this day, then for future hang-outs. "Well, if ye ever want tae gettae from th' clutter, mah room is tidy." She thought back to her neat, empty room, and her brow furrowed along a small frown. "Heck, until Ah decorate it, it's still a wee bit bare." She really did need to get posters or curtains or something.
Agnes gathered up her materials and started to make her way towards the gardening shed around the corner of the building. The bucket filled with her tools clanked and rattled against one another as she moved on while the water pail, now completely empty was much lighter now that it was void of all water. Agnes did not mind hauling her materials around. She was thankful for it, actually. It made her feel useful, like she was doing something that was worthwhile for the mansion. Paying the school back for all the good things it was able to provide for her.
As she walked, Rebecca followed next to her. She glanced at her sidelong and her latest question rebounded around in her head.
>> "Ah'm guessing Gina's th' messy one of ye two?"
She laughed.
“It’s a little closer to 50/50, but sometimes she tends to leave things out a bit longer than I do,” Agnes said with a chuckle.
>> "Ay coorse. An' if ye ever need help here, let me know. Ah loove bein' where it's green."
“I would love that. Well, you can usually find me out here most days,” she said with a nod. “This is if you can get away from all your suitors.”
It was true what she had said earlier. She had every idea that Rebecca would be quick to gain admirers. The girl really was quite beautiful and the boys here loved to circle around newbies. She was the same way when she first came here. The guys all wanted to know who she was, what her favorite color was, would she go out with them? Because of that Agnes’ first week at the mansion was spent entirely within her room. It took a bit but she gradually grew more comfortable with going out and walking around the grounds.
Soon guys got the hint and left her alone.
But with someone who looked like Rebecca, she was sure she the girl would have a plethora of admirers. Good for her…
As they rounded the corner, Agnes spied her small gardening shed. It was neat, clean, and with a small locked door on the front of it. Agnes set her buckets down and fished around in her jean pockets for her keys. When she finally found them she unlocked the door. The smell of earth and greenery came from within and it caused Agnes to pause appreciatively. She did love the gardening shed.
Slipping in, she set her items within and was on her way out…
>> "Well, if ye ever want tae gettae from th' clutter, mah room is tidy…Heck, until Ah decorate it, it's still a wee bit bare."
"Hu--?"
BANG!!![/b]
“Ooph! Ow! Ow!" Agnes hissed as she removed her forehead from the side of the door. She groaned and reached up, rubbing her now sore forehead. She didn’t know why but Rebecca’s comment had caused Agnes to momentarily lapse in her movements and turn too hard and straight into the opening of the door. Leaning back she winced as she reached up and rubbed her forehead. “Oh, gawd, sorry…” she muttered as she rubbed the sore spot.

>> “I would love that. Well, you can usually find me out here most days. This is if you can get away from all your suitors.”
Rebecca chuckled at the thought. "Friends come before boys, right?" Agnes seemed committed to the idea that Rebecca would become the object of desire for boys in the school. Maybe it was because new girls had that allure of being something interesting and unlike what they have seen before.
Despite her modesty, she did realize that she had some attractive features, but she was not prepared for the attention she was being warned of. All the boys she knew back home had been her friends since she was a little girl, so it would have been like brothers flirting with her.
BANG!!!
Rebecca was startled by the sound of her new friend colliding with the door. Concerned, she rushed over and inspected Agnes's forehead. "Are ye alright? Ah'm sorry if Ah distracted ye!" At this rate, Agnes was going to start seeing Rebecca as a bad luck charm.
"Diz this hurt?" She pressed her hand very gently on Agnes's forehead. She did not want to press too hard if it was very sore.
She probably had not hit the door so hard to worry much, but as a footballer, she knew to at least check for a minor concussion just to be safe. She got close enough that she could see Agnes's eyes clearly. She seemed fine. "Ye seem braw. be careful; Ah'd feel bad if Ah got ye hurt."
Agnes could have sworn that she was seeing stars…or were they birds…maybe tiny cherubs? Whatever they were they blurred around her vision in a float carousel of speed and images. Agnes would have giggled and reached out to try and pluck them out of the very air if it were not for the fact that her forehead was now throbbing. She sighed, wanting to pull her hand away from her forehead but she feared that in doing so a massive lump would just suddenly begin to protrude from her skin.
So instead, she continued to stand there, attempting to wait out the glowing hot mixture of pain and embarrassment that flushed her cheeks. This really was beginning to become ridiculous.
>> "Are ye alright? Ah'm sorry if Ah distracted ye!”
“No, no, I’m…I’m okay,” Agnes said as she still held her hand over her sore forehead. “Just…just me being silly.”
She really had to stop getting so distracted around this pretty young girl. She was cute, yes, but that was no reason to completely throw her life into a whirl, right? Taking a second, Agnes decided that she needed to compose herself. It simply had to be done.
But while she was in the process of gaining back some type of dignity she suddenly notice Rebecca coming in close. Agnes winced because she could feel the concerned girl reaching for her forehead. Agnes really did not want to reveal that embarrassment but she was not going to just shun the girl either. That would have been rude and they were trying to establish themselves as friends, correct? She sighed and decided to simply bite the bullet.
Gently she lowered her hand and let Rebecca inspect red blemish left by the frame of the doorway. She’d have her revenge against that doorframe. Oh yes, she will..
>> "Diz this hurt?"
Agnes returned her attention to Rebecca. She felt her soft hand on her forehead and Agnes winced, just a tiny bit. It was sore but definitely not as bad as it felt the when she had first hit her head against the frame. The pain was waning under the soft touch of the other girl.
>> "Ye seem braw. be careful; Ah'd feel bad if Ah got ye hurt."
The words reverberated in Agnes head. Rebecca really was sweet and very tender and her touch seemed to help. Agnes was quickly noticing that the throbbing pain had begun disappear and she sighed a bit in relief. At least she did not have a concussion or something serious from acting so silly. But even as the pain began to disappear, she lingered over Rebecca’s touch for a bit longer than she should have. It was only when she realized that she was doing such that another full blown blush overtook her skin. She doubted she was ever going to get back to her normal skin color today.
She slowly shied away from Rebecca’s touch, but she masked with a grateful smile and thank you.
“Um…t-thanks. I-I’ll be okay. Wouldn’t be the first time I ran into something I shouldn’t have,” she said jokingly.

>> “No, no, I’m…I’m okay. Just…just me being silly.”
With a deep sigh, Rebecca shook her head. Agnes handled a lot of tools and equipment that could hurt her if she was not careful. "What am Ah goin tae dae wi' ye?" Rebecca could daydream at times to, but there was a time and a place.
After all, what could be worth getting so distracted you leave yourself with a bruise?
>> “Um…t-thanks. I-I’ll be okay. Wouldn’t be the first time I ran into something I shouldn’t have.”
With the reassurance that Agnes was fine, minus some superficial pain, Rebecca was comfortable with joking about the situation. "Ah bet. S'okay, Ah'm nae stranger tae injurin' maself." It was, of course, a universal truth that athletics increased the chances of breaking something in life. Agnes had moved the last of her things into the shed, so they walked back toward the Mansion.
"Ah 'member a real bull of a lassie breakin' mah ankle goin' fer a header." The cast for that one was a pain. It was her first major injury and she remembered crying as it took her out for the rest of the season.
That was not, however, her most embarrassing injury. "'En there was th' time..." She could already feel the blood rushing to her cheeks. "Welll, they had me in goalie since our other lassie was sick. Ah was watchin' a baa soar toward me. Ah kept mah eyes on it an' backpedaled intae th' goalpost."
She chuckled at the conclusion of her embarrassing anecdote. "When Ah woke up, Ah was consoled by th' fact 'at mah body blocked th' goal." She had not thought about football since her arrival to the states, but the story left her curious. This was a special school which most likely did not have its own team, but maybe there was some league she could join? She would begin missing the sport terribly if she was forced to live without it. Pick-up games were fun, but she felt at home in the competition of a real team. "If Ah fin' a team 'round here tae join, ye better come root fer meh!"
Agnes winced again but she had to smirk a little at Rebecca’s comment. It was kind of like Rebecca was the responsible adult admonishing a child she cared for far too much. The runaway could only laugh at the notion but a snappy comment came to mind that she really could not help but share.
“Kiss it and make it better?” she said with a joking giggle.
Well…she…she didn’t REALLY want that. Right?
Ahem.
>> "Ah bet. S'okay, Ah'm nae stranger tae injurin' maself…Ah 'member a real bull of a lassie breakin' mah ankle goin' fer a header."
Agnes had to grimace at that revelation. She had seen Jasmine play soccer and she knew exactly how rough that it could be. The way those girl’s played, sometimes it just outright scared her. She always feared for Jasmine’s safety because of just how dangerous it could be. Jasmine told her similar tales, or bruises, scars, even a fractured bone or two. But Jasmine loved the game so. Apparently the same applied to Rebecca here because she seemed to be just as fierce a player.
Maybe she really did have a spot soft for athletes.
>> "'En there was th' time...Welll, they had me in goalie since our other lassie was sick. Ah was watchin' a baa soar toward me. Ah kept mah eyes on it an' backpedaled intae th' goalpost…When Ah woke up, Ah was consoled by th' fact 'at mah body blocked th' goal."
She listened, then, despite her best intentions, she really could not hold the laughter in anymore. Before she knew it she was giggling at the idea. Though a concussion was no laughing matter, the simple fact that Rebecca would put her own health into that much danger by blocking the goal and getting a knock on the head only made the situation seem all that much more funnier. She really could not help also, because, she had been in the very same situation. Only instead of guarding a goal, she was simply reading a book when suddenly a stray soccer ball knocked her on her head. Therefore, in comparing these instances, she could only giggle as someone who knew exactly how that felt.
Hoping she didn’t hurt Rebecca’s feelings, Agnes finally eased her laughing just long enough to catch her breath as she looked sincerely at her new friend.
“I-I’m sorry. I-I-I’m not making fun of you,” she said in mid-laugh. She finally began to calm and sighed. A silly smile still playing on her lips. “I just…I know exactly how that feels. That’s…you know, actually how Jasmine and I met. I took a stray soccer ball to the head…”
A sigh fell from her lips as the memory began to rebound in her head. That really was an extremely funny and memorably part of her life.
>> "If Ah fin' a team 'round here tae join, ye better come root fer meh!"
Another shy smile fall across her face as she looked at Rebecca. Momentarily she imaged Rebecca running around on the field in a soccer uniform and for some reason she imagined Jasmine also joining her on the field. Her heart skipped a beat fearfully before she quickly shooed the image away.
“Well, you will definitely have me rooting for you. But, Jasmine plays for her school too. So, if you two ever face other, I’m going to be in a bit of a position,” she laughed, trying to not compare that situation to anything else. Not. At. All.

>> “Kiss it and make it better?”
The idea made Rebecca giggle nervously. Why were here ears and cheeks feeling so warm? The joke had been made to her in the past by her teammates, (and admittedly she got a tad bit embarrassed then too,) but maybe it was what she now knew about Agnes that was making her blush? She did not want to treat Agnes any differently because she liked girls, but the idea of kissing a lesbian left her... what was the phrase?
Hot and bothered? No, that could not be it. Most assuredly not.
>> “I-I’m sorry. I-I-I’m not making fun of you, I just…I know exactly how that feels. That’s…you know, actually how Jasmine and I met. I took a stray soccer ball to the head…”
As far as "how we met" stories went, there was something movie-like about the oblivious girl getting struck with a soccer ball and the player rushes to her side. In this case, the player just happened to be another, less oblivious girl. "Ye really hae a knack fer attractin' trooble, dornt ye?"
>> “Well, you will definitely have me rooting for you. But, Jasmine plays for her school too. So, if you two ever face other, I’m going to be in a bit of a position.”
Now knowing Jasmine was a footballer, Rebecca was even more interested in meeting this girlfriend of Agnes's. "Ah understand. Ah'm sure this lassie a' yoors is a great footballer, but Ah bet Ah can tak' 'er," Rebecca assured with a wink.
"Ah'm pretty darn good at what Ah dae." She might be the most polite girl in the world off the pitch, but put some cleats on her and Rebecca was a competitive, scrappy forward with a strong kick.
Rebecca looked at the red spot on Agnes's head and rethought the little joke from earlier. As new as she was to having a lesbian friend, when it came down to it, she felt comfortable with Agnes, and wanted the girl to realize that. She planted a kiss on her index and middle fingers and very lightly pressed them on Agnes's forehead. "There. Hoo was 'at fer a kiss better?" she asked with a grin.
>> "Ye really hae a knack fer attractin' trooble, dornt ye?"
A smirk and the runaway nodded her head with a slightly exasperated look.
“You’ve really no idea,” she said with a laugh. Though that laugh was tinged with honesty.
"Ah understand. Ah'm sure this lassie a' yoors is a great footballer, but Ah bet Ah can tak' 'er…Ah'm pretty darn good at what Ah dae."
Another laugh fell from her lips as she tried to imagine that. She had never seen Rebecca play (obviously, having just met her today) and she did look a little tiny to be playing the game. Then again, Jasmine was very tiny but she was fiercely competitive. She dominated the field when she played the game and there was little if anyone who could stand in her way. Jasmine was like a fierce little demon and boy did she have a sailor’s mouth when she really got going.
Seeing her and Rebecca go at each other on the playing field would probably be a sight to see. Though she would obviously fear for both of their safety. Both Rebecca and Jasmine had revealed that their respective teammates and opposing teams could be rather brutal while playing. She would hope that both of them would return without broken bones.
But as she thought about this, she glanced over and saw that Rebecca was inspecting her wound again. She was about to just smile and tell her, honestly, that she was fine. She never got that chance as she watched Rebecca press her own index and middle fingers to her own lips and then, with the gentleness of a bird’s feather, she touched the red mark on her forehead.
Almost instantly Agnes felt that blush run its course throughout her face, almost matching the redness of the mark. But once that initial touch had been placed, Agnes began to calm. Rebecca really was just too sweet for words…
>> "There. Hoo was 'at fer a kiss better?"
She smiled a little sheepishly. Then she nodded her head.
“Feel’s a bit better,” she beamed. She took a breath though as she nodded to the mansion. “Come on, what’s say I make you a ice cream sundae?”

>> “Feel’s a bit better. Come on, what’s say I make you a ice cream sundae?”
Rebecca smiled gratefully. "'At woulds be fantastic. Ye know, Jasmine's pretty lucky." After all, is it not the goal to find someone sweet and caring to be in love with? Rebecca was new to the world of romance, but guy or girl, it seemed like anyone would be lucky to have a companion like Agnes.
With a birthday in a few weeks, Rebecca was thankful for the opportunity to meet a few seemingly friendly girls at Xavier's. Maybe the day would not just be a sad chance to miss home. Maybe it could be a small party, or even a sleepover! That would be fun, right?
>> "'At woulds be fantastic. Ye know, Jasmine's pretty lucky."
“Thanks,” she smiled.
Agnes downcast her eyes as she felt another blush want to take over her features. But she managed to downplay it and keep it under control. Rebecca really was a sweet girl but because of her reactions right now she was not 100% sure that what the girl was saying was true. She did care about Jasmine, deeply, but if that were true why did she blush whenever Rebecca so much as looked at her? That was not something she should be being if Jasmine is the lucky one, right?
Her head started to hurt but Agnes gave no outward appearance of that. She simply glanced to Rebecca and gave another soft smile. Maybe she was just getting too far ahead of herself. After all, it was not like Rebecca was into girls too. She remembered her reaction back when Agnes admitted that she was a lesbian and it was that of pure shock. Definitely not the reaction of someone who would be interested in dating girls too.
No, she was getting worked up over nothing. A small attraction, that’s all it was, right? At least that is what she would be telling herself.
In silence Agnes continued to lead Rebecca to the mansion. It was definitely time for ice cream to chill the warm she felt coursing just under the surface…
