The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nicki was a little...embarrased when she noticed herself gasping as Kaz started to play with the sharp, pointy thing. Nicki laughed a little, calming down, but still shocked that he just randomly had a knife on him.
She watched him twirl the blade, catching it without a second thought or hesitation, and she was instantly impressed. These were things she could not do and to watch someone so deftly manuever it was amaazing. Nicki bit her lip.
"Well, not like that anyway. I mean...my ex-boyfriend used to ride bulls so I'm more familar with two ton creatures with long horns but I'm not super familar with knives and hatchettes and um...that other thing I had never heard of" Nicki smiled, taking the knife from his hands and examining it. "S'not as big as it looked flying from your foot" Nicki teased, letting her eyes shift back up to Kaz.

Kaz laughed, "It's not suppose to be big. They're ment to be hidden," Lifting his foot again, he set his boot on the table and pulled up his pant leg, revealing his boot completely. Around the entire thing were small holsters, each one holding a few blades. He put his foot down and looked at her, "Don't get the wrong idea. I'm probably the only one in this entire room that has these, especially in the ammount I have. Protective purposes. That and I like pretty much anything that has a sharp edge." He sat next to her, with only a few inches between them. "Shirikins are the japanese word for what we call 'throwing stars'. There are different designs, sizes, number of blades, for what they're designed to do, and preference of each user."
It hadn't really hit him until now when he leaned back a bit, putting his arms behind him on the table. "Your ex huh?" He'd only known this girl for an hour or so, why did that suddenly bug him. "I've never really been around a bull myself. Seen plenty of pictures and on tv of corse." He began to bite the inside of his lip, he wanted a smoke, but he didn't want to smoke in front of her. Another oddity to him, he cared who he smoked in front of. Reaching into his pocket, he opened a small container, and pulled out a toothpick and put it in his mouth and began to bit on the tip of it.

Nicki smiled as he showed her his arsenal. "Dude, that's so cool! It's a good thing they don't have metal detectors here huh?" Nicki smiled as Kaz sat next to her, taking the time to explain what Shirikins were (and she worked very hard to make sure she knew the word, how to say it, and the different styles).
Ug. She had mentioned her ex. It wasn't a big deal, even for a teenaged relationship and often times, since it didn't matter to her, she forgot that it might matter to other people...especially people who were showing an interest in her. She had just wanted to prove that she knew something about things that were dangerous too. She didn't want to sound like some inexpierence kid. And now she might have offended Kaz...which was the last thing she was hoping to accomplish.
Nicki moved her fingers to her earlobe, pulling on it once again. She laughed a little, trying to think of all the times she had done that this night. "You really think you could teach me how to throw knives? I mean...I'm not the most coordinated person. I'm okay at like, softball, but I'm a bit of a klutz..." Nicki smiled, trying to test the waters.

Kaz watched as she grabbed her earlobe again. Reaching out gently and slowly, he grabbed her hand lightly and pulled it away from her ear. He gave it a quick squeeze, not hard of corse. With this aciton he hoped she would understand his unsaid words 'Don't worry about it'. He looked at her, "Of corse I could teach ya. I'd even give you a set to practice with." After a moments pause, he sat up and looked her, her hand still in his. "You'd just have to promise me something. That you wouldn't do anything...bad, with them. You're too good of a person. Even if it was in your own defence. I'd rather not think of how you might feel if.." He stopped his sentence there. "You're not the strongest person, I can see that, and there's nothing wrong with that. That's a reason why I'd teach you. Light, quick, and concealable; perfect for your own safety." There was no hiding the concern in his eyes or tone when he spoke to her.
Realizing how serious he had just gotten, "Don't worry about the klutz thing. I can tell, if you did do something 'klutz-like', it'd just be really cute." He gave her a sweet, comforting, smile. Quite quietly, "Sorry."

Nicki smiled and bit her lip as Kaz took her hand, and then crinkled her forehead in light confusion as he started to explain about making sure never to do anything bad with the knives. Nicki was sure that this conversation had something to do with someone else Kaz had probably taught once but some of what he was talking about rang true. Nicki was not to likely to be able handling something as traumatizing as killing another person and she could understand that he didn't want her to put herself through that...
What was amazing to Nicki was that he was taking such an interest in her. Maybe this was more than just a bit of flirting...
"Don't worry about the klutz thing. I can tell, if you did do something 'klutz-like', it'd just be really cute...Sorry"
Nicki turned a little red, but less so now. She was kinda getting used to this, at least from Kaz.
"You don't have to be sorry about anything..." Nicki bit her lower lip before returning the kind smile. She then took her free hand, the other still holding on to Kaz's, and hit him slightly "And you are not going to buy me a set of practice knives"

"Ya know, I'll miss it if your blushing ever goes away." As she turned a few shades more red. "It's just I didn't mean to get so..." He was cut off by surprise as she hit him in the arm lightly. Looking at his arm then at her, he blinked a few times and laughed. "Okay, that's not normal. You're bad for my health." He winked at her, "Normally I would have moved or stopped that play punch out of reflex. Seems I'm quite relaxed with you." He couldn't help but to keep laughing. "Besides, I wouldn't BUY you a set. I'd GIVE you one." With that he leaned forward and put his forhead on hers and looked at her while he still chuckled a bit.

Nicki was surprised at the sudden affection being shown to her. Kaz had been friendly up til now but suddenly he was damned near cutesy.
"Okay, that's not normal. You're bad for my health." Nicki laughed, kicking him a little playfully. Things seemed to have changed radically in a matter of moments. They had gone from a little odd and slightly flirting to acting like a...well...
"Besides, I wouldn't BUY you a set. I'd GIVE you one."
And with that Kaz brought his forehead to hers, keeping it there. Nicki smiled, blushing just a touch and squeezing his hand. "You're not gonna do that either Kaz..." Nicki shook her head a little, smiling, keeping contact with Kaz.

Kaz stood and stepped back from Nicki, folding his arms across his chest. He had a slightly serious look on his face, "Are you telling me I can't do something special for my first student?" After a moment he turned his back on her, "Fine, whatever, I won't then." His body language was serious, but his voice held a bit of sad dissapointment, but also a small hint of playfullness. Signaling the waitress accross the room for another double.

Nicki looked over to Kaz as he signaled for another drink. Had she made him mad again? Nicki looked over to Kaz, and tried to think of something that could break the ice and not sound completely and totally awkward. She couldn't. Instead she kicked her leg into Kaz's playfully, pulling on her ear lobe again.
"I'm just not good at accepting gifts...it's sweet though. Thanks" Nicki mumbled as she kept her eyes focused on the floor.

"I'm just not good at accepting gifts...it's sweet though. Thanks." <That didn't go like I thought it would...She's pretty honest.> Kaz visibly sighed and turned to the girl, who had just playfully kicked him. "You're deffinantly different from most people I've met. Normally people would have just accepted what I offered when I do something like, this." Taking the toothpick out of his mouth, he set it on the table. He reached out and lifted the girl's chin up, so he could look at her eyes. "I guess I'm just use to getting what I want. Whether its money, cars, drinks, or getting someone I like to accept what I offer." Leaning in once more, he gave her a quick kiss on the forehead. "So don't worry bout anything, you didn't do anything wrong. You react differently than most I've met..And I like that." Suddenly he got a dumbstuck look on his face. "I think I just started rambling...That's not normal." He laughed.

Nicki was pretty much turning red from the moment he lifted her head and she was only getting more so as their conversation progressed. By the time Kaz's lips touched her forhead she was practically on another plane of exsistence. So much so that she almost missed something very important. As Kaz pulled away and quieted, Nicki smiled and bit her lip, looking over to him.

"So you like me huh?" Kaz's mind reeled to a hard stop and froze. He hadn't even realized he said it. For once in a very long time, his cheeks turned slightly red, as he blushed a bit from embarassment and, he didn't even know what the other emotions were. He was speachless, and it showed clear as day on his face. Almost in reflex, his hair seemed to drop down in front of his face to cover it. Taking no action to move it from his face, he opened his mouth a small bit and shut it again. He had made most moves up till now, and he suddenly felt the urge to not be in the lead. Thankfully, his drinks came and were set down. His hand reached over to grab one. Though he didn't pull it off the table, wondering if he wanted to drink it now or not.

Nicki smiled, taking his silence as a very clear answer. She reached over, picking up the Coke she had neglected for so long and played with the sipping straw, stirring it slightly before looking up to try and catch Kaz's eye.

Kaz watched Nicki grab her coke and play with the straw. He lifted his own drink up, and set it down again. Repeating this twice more before finally leaving it on the table and dropping his hand into his pocket. The gnomes in his head had yet to fully repair the gears of his broken and frozen mind. When she looked up into his eyes, he couldn't look away from her bright blue eyes. He almost felt like he was being sucked in, the only barrier keeping that from happening was her glasses. To him, they seemed like the only saving grace for his mental health. "You know I like you too right?" Her sweet, innocent voice asked a question he could only answer in one way: he nodded slightly, not taking his eyes off of hers.

Nicki smiled and nodded her head in reaction to his nod, smiling as she looked down at her drink and then back up to him. She did this a couple of times, looked around the dance floor (Spotted Nika dancing with that big guy who apparently bought drinks for everyone in the bar) before finally turning back and looking to Kaz again.
"You uh...got anything to say beyond that?" Nicki asked, only slightly awkwardly. It was better now that they had both fessed up to what they both already knew, but Nicki was still a little nervous about the whole circumstance.
