The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Honestly, Kaz felt as akward as Nicki seemed about the situation. This wasn't something he was use to...not at all. His mouth opened and shut a few times, before he finally bought his hand up and pointed to his head. Two words escaped his mouth before he burst out laughing at his own stupidity, "Brain dead." He couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes. This was about when the gnomes finished the repairs, and pressed the start button. "I..don't understand this at all. Are you a witch? A siren? A goddess? I know next to nothing about you, we've only known eachother for an hour or so, but just admiting that one thing. Something that doesn't seem like it should be hard, made me have a total brain malfunction." He laughed again as he flopped into the chair behind him. "I'm sorry if I just made a fool of myself."

Nicki smiled as Kaz snapped back to life. Suddenly he was laughing and being the person she had spent all that time getting to know. Laughing as she kicked his leg playfully again, she noticably loosened up.
"I'm not a witch, I'm not a siren and I highly doubt I'm a goddess, though I of those three definitions I like that one the best" Nicki giggled, leaning back in her chair.

"....though of those three definitions I like that one the best" That giggle of hers, he deffinantly liked. He didn't move his leg at all as he kicked it playfully. He didn't respond to that comment, not becuase he didn't want to, but because he didn't know how to without sounding stupid or it being akward. Looking down he watched her leg move back and forth. A smirk came onto his face, and he hooked his foot under heel, his white baggy pants a total contrast to her form fitting black jeans. "Gotcha." Up to now, he hadn't payed too much attention to what she had been wearing, since he was more interesting in the girl herself than the clothes. Form fitting and tight, the jeans complimented her slender figure. Her long black shirt went past her waist, bunching up a bit due to sitting. It showed off her flat stomach and her chest, she wasn't large in that area, but not small either. For her build, she was well proportioned all around. He made no secret to what he was doing, but he didn't make it extremely obvious either. The smile never left his face. His eyes continued to roam on their way to her eyes, they lingered on the nape of her neck, his favorite spot on a girl's body. She had a gentle curve, made all the more sweet looking with how her hair fell about her shoulders. As he looked into her eyes, he stuck out his tounge playfully. "Well, since it's true we don't really know eachother, why don't we change that?" He put his other foot lightly on top of the one he had caught, effectively trapping it. "Simple question first. How old are you?"

Nicki turned red for about the billionth time in their conversation: though she wasn't sure if it was over Kaz playing footsie with her randomly or if it was over the fact that Kaz was very contently studying her body. In either case, Nicki struggled to stay in the moment and not spazz out.
"I um...I'm kinda jailbait" Nicki bit her lip. She figured Kaz was at least twenty-one since he was ordering (and receiveing) alcohol: that's why Nicki was happy this hadn't come up earlier in the conversation. "I'm sixteen...how bout you?"

"Hmm..jailbait huh. Ok, I'll bite." With that he opened his mouth slightly and chomped his teeth together playfully. "I'm 20, 21 in September." Smiling softly, "Honestly, you don't seem 16. At least not completely. Some mannerismn, but that's cute." Noticing that she was biting her lip, "Were you worried I would balk at you when I found out your age? That I might...stop liking you?" He put his hand on her cheek, "Age doesn't really matter, or factor in to anything, it's what's here," Moving his hand over her heart, "That matters."

Nicki smiled, relieved as she saw that her age meant nothing to Kaz.
"Well, I mean, I don't know if you've ever been to a little town let a lone lived in one, but I grew up in a little town just outside of Dayton and well...it was a little...let's put it this way...cute twenty-year old boys didn't talk to bookworm sixteen year olds" Nicki smiled. She wasn't be self-degredating in that statement, simply honest. "And hey, if you're only twenty how are you getting whiskey?" Nicki chuckled, leaning across the table and playfully hitting Kaz's arm.

Kaz listened to Nicki, he got two things out of what she said; one, she's a small town girl, two, she conciders herself a bookwork. "You're a bookworm?" He looked her over a bit, "You don't look like a worm at all. I assumed you liked to read, though mainly I just thought you were shy. I grew up in a suburb outside Phoenix. Whether that's 'small town' or not, I don't remember really. I lived there till I was 15, but I was extremely anti-social. Until very recently I was still that way." He looked around, "I get what you're saying, but, this is New York babe, anything and everything happens here."
"...how are you getting whiskey?" Following her question with a laugh and a hit. Kaz caught her hand, which luckly was the arm that had the strap on it, with his hand that also had the strap. "How is it a 16 year old can order drinks?" He pointed to her silver band. "I swiped a stack of silver bands and replaced our green ones."

Nicki smiled, feeling better about the whole "age" thing now. She had a feeling that Kaz wasn't blowing smoke; that her age didn't really bother him at all. Nicki was going to have to get used to that indeed, this was New York, and it was different from her home town.
Besides, she was getting information of her own here. He was shy too (boys are never shy, they're antisocial) and he grew up in Arizona.
Laughing as Kaz grabbed her wrist, she noticed for the first time that night that somehow her wristband had switched colors on her. Laughing harder now, Nicki smiled, leaning back in her chair, though leaving her hand in Kaz's possession.
"Alright, so simple questions first huh? You got family you still speak to or not really?"

<I guess she didn't notice it before.> He liked it when she laughed it fitted her. "Family?" He paused. "Not really. I'm an only child. My mom died when I was 17, my dad, works as the head of some big company. Honestly, I don't know if he even realizes I'm not home anymore. So I guess a simple answer is, no." When he spoke about his mother's death, it didn't bother him at all. He had never been close to his parents. "What about you? You're a bit of a ways from home." He shifted the position of his hand, and held Nicki's in a more relaxed way, rubbing his thumb lightly agianst her skin.
Getting up from the table, Nail led the way to the Air hockey table. He pulled a couple quarters out, poped them into the table, and the table begn to hum as the air was being pushed out through the hundreds of holes.
He took the puck from the nich where it had appeared when he started up the machine, and slide it slowely across the table for Nika to catch.
"I'll let you serve first."
He held the circular stump in an awkward way. Most people held it on top to avoid getting their fingers hit by the puck. Nail held his by the lip on one side. He got into a ready possition, all low and hunched over. He look really hyped up. He was mostly just trying to look silly for Nika.

Nicki shifted a little, letting her hand stay in Kaz's.
"Yeah, I got family. My mom and I are pretty close, she's the only one of my family who knows what I am. My dad is um...nice...but kinda, I guess old-fashioned in the right word to describe Dad. I have a brother too, roughly your age. We used to be best friends." Nicki smiled, only a light sadness in her voice. Smiling, she shifted a little. "So come on, what else? Tell me something about you"

"The only one who knows what you are huh. I'm currious, what are your powers?" He listened as she finished telling him about her family. "I take it your dad and bro wouldn't really....welcome you anymore if they knew. Sorry." He notted the sadness in her voice and gave her hand a bit of a squeeze.
"Tell me something about you."
"Hmm...what to tell what to tell..." He was drawing a blank in his head. The only things coming to him were smartarse comments, 'I have red eyes' and others like that. Suddenly he remembered something that might be interesting to her. "I'm a gymnast."

Nicki smiled, shrugging a little and focring a little laugh. "It's okay Kaz. It's really not much of an issue. They love me...as long as I'm quiet about that kind of stuff..."
Nicki smiled, leaning back and crossing her legs, looking over at Kaz. "So you're a gymnast huh? That's really cool! Did you compete or something?"

<They should love you no matter what.> Inwardly, he sneered at her family. He hated the way most human's treated and thought about mutants. "Did you compete or something?" "I did when I was younger. I started when I was around four...give or take a year. I continued until I was about ten I think. When I was eight I went to DC for the national competition, not in a jouniors devision, but against highly skilled gymnasts, some who were even olimpian contenders. I don't mean to brag....I guess it's a bit too late for that." Laughing, "But I won...fairly easily." He took a sip of his drink before speaking again. "After quitting, I picked up martial arts to take it's place. Though every so often I'll go to the gym and see if I've still got it." <Which of corse, I do, and always will.> Taking a moment as a thought came to his head, "I thought girls didn't like it when guys talked about themselves?"

Nicki smiled as Kaz explained all of this stuff to her. She always thought gymnastics was cool (she could never do it, what with her being a total klutz) and it was great to hear Kaz explain the whole thing to her. Nicki smiled, shrugging a little at Kaz's comment about talking about himself.
"I like hearing about you..." Nicki smiled and ran her thumb over Kaz's hand. She smiled a little as a lightbulb went off in her head. "Oh! You asked me my power! I totally forgot! I absorb knowledge. I can drink in information...like flip through a book and know every word...I could basically recite it back to you. I'm working on doing that with computers and people too" Nicki smiled. "What about you? What do you do?"
