The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hello, I couldn’t see a suggestion like this so I thought i would throw it out there. How about we start a player base used list, meaning a list with names and/or a photo of the actors, singers, models etc that have been used for our oc’s, so that newcomers will know who to use or not use when making an oc, kind of like the Taken Mutations list. Just an idea.
Well, I think a guide like that would be useful. For new members (because I believe that new members don't like checking every existing member's profile in order to determine which face is taken and which is not) and for the others too. In my case, when making a signature or a skin, I hate going trough my pm's or the Avatars and Signatures board to find the name of the celebrity they are using. Another use would be for the MOTM banners. Of course, I am not suggesting a Claiming list. I've seen those too and they are annoying. I find Casey's suggestion - something like the Taken Mutations list - very practical. That way everything can be kept nicely in one post. And like I mentioned a couple of months ago in a discussion about this subject, I offer myself to make the list and update it so this wouldn't be another task added to the many the mods already have.

I also think this would be a good idea, I've suggested it in the past, but it didn't get off the ground (I think because I then had a whole bunch of exams and couldn't focus on it). I think with the fan-videos cropping up around the place having a 'face-list' of sorts would help with that as well for the noobs (I think another section in the noob guide would be a bit much, but for it to be available would be a good thing:))
I really agree with this. It can be hard to find a face when you don't know who is already taken. And having to look through all the active profiles can take a while.
I know we had one like this on another site and it was a great resource for character creation.

People have suggested this a number of times and in the past it's always fizzled out and died. For whatever reason, people just really aren't that vehement about the whole world knowing who their play-by is.
The play-by's are just supposed to put a picture in your head...it's not supposed to be EXACTLY what your character looks like...so I think a lot of people just kind of let it go. Mostly, someone would have to put it together...and keep it updated, and with the natural amount of turn-around that a site like this has....that's kind of a massive undertaking.
Not knocking the idea, because I could definitely see the uses of something like this, but, just my two cents on why it's not working out.

I'm going to take a crack at this, but I will need some help.
The taken mutations list is updated frequently enough that I should be able to cross reference it with the approved characters. Getting this list started is going to be the hardest part, but once it gets some momentum hopefully it should be easier to maintain.
I'll admit that I don't know a lot of the faces that I see in sets, and I know it can be hard to find out the name of a cartoon character, but TinEye will help out a little. What I'm going to need help with is those whose characters play bys' I cannot find.
Just an idea, if I have not already suggested it: How about you make US do the work? What I’m thinking is we start a player used thread (give it what name you like) and we each post ONE picture of our own player used along with their name (if we know their name).
If we don’t bother posting ourselves, then we can’t be that bothered if someone else uses the same player base, right? No harm in that right?
Then all that would need doing is deleting posts from the list when people leave the rpg permanently. You could start a thread then pm everyone instructions to post themselves.
I don’t know if that idea is any good or not, it’s just a suggestion to try and save a lot of hard work .
Well, a post for each play-by can become quite messy and crowded, I think. Everything in one post would look better and be easier to find what you're looking for.
As for those who disappear from MRO - my idea would be to have them remove their play-by when their powers are removed from the taken mutations list.
And all we ask from the mods is permission to start a thread that serves this purpose. I already have a list started on my computer - it's not very hard for me to either post it and update it from time to time or pass it on to someone else to do it since I'm not the only one willing to do this.
We listen! I swears it to you preciouses! One of the things in development is a MRO wiki where YOU the player can help us keep up to date on things like playbys, NPCs and descriptions of widely used settings like the Mansion. Just trying to get things presentable and organized enough for publuc usage.
