The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam looked down at his current apparel and shrugged slightly he had been outside in worse, pajama pants and a t-shirt with a few holes in it weren’t to bad but if Jenny wanted to change he figured he could toss on a pair of shorts instead of his pants. Bruno on the other hand would have been happy regardless of what he was wearing except for one of this head bands Haley made him wear once when they were dating that was anything but that was a one time thing there was no way Sam was going to let that continue.
”Sounds good, I’ll meet you out front in a few minutes?” Sam asked as he rolled one of his shoulders letting it stretch under the motion. Motioning Bruno to the hallway Bruno let out a loud bark and ran out into the hallway and down to the main entrance of the mansion where the front door was located. Sam waved to Jenny and exited the kitchen heading to the front only to stop in his office where he left a change of clothes for emergencies.
Two minutes passed and Bruno and Sam were sitting at the front of the mansion Sam sitting on the front step patting Bruno on the head while Bruno let out a few whines. A breeze brushed across Sam’s legs and he momentarily debated if shorts were the best for this kind of weather. Reminding himself that it didn’t really matter he looked over to the nearest trees and saw them sway in the wind as a few squirrels ran up and down the trees preparing for the upcoming fall and winter.
Noticing them as well Bruno let out a small bark and then stood up dancing a bit near Sam waiting for permission to go chase them down. ”Go ahead, Jenny will be here in a second anyways…” before he could finish he removed his hand from Bruno’s head and the large dog booked it over to the trees where the critters were gathering their food.
Being an invisible, phasing mutant had it's many advantages. When she was younger, she surveyed the building while invisible, just seeing what short cuts she could take to get places. For example, she knew what walls to walk through to get to the pool no matter from what floor and she knew exactly which window was her's, so if she ever wanted to climb the wall to get to her room, she wouldn't accidently end up in somebody else's room. She wanted to be speedy but she knew that the steps she would need to take to make it to her room would take longer than the actual changing process. So she decided to take a short cut, once she was not near Sam. Unfortunately, most people did not like her phasing through ceilings and walls, it set them on edge, like she would suddenly appear in their room without creaking the door open or stepping on any loose floorboards.
Sam agreed to change as well and gave her a meeting time and place before exiting the kitchen. When he was a good few steps away, Fade climbed up on the counter and turned invisible. No, it was not a good idea to stand on the kitchen counter, but who would know if they never saw her do it? Once on the counter, she reached up and jumped, grabbing a hold of the ceiling with her raptor talons. She then began to swing her legs back and forth until she had enough momentum to phase through the ceiling. It had been a while since she tried that move, so she landed with a slight discomfort on her back. Pulling herself to her feet, she walked down a few doors, did a bit more phasing and landed smack dab in the middle of her room.
Her clothes were ferociously stuffed in her dresser, but her favorites were always on top and she grabbed her black and white Beatles V-Neck and threw on some pants, socks and shoes. Although her raptor talons on her feet made it hard for her to wear shoes, she learned that wearing shoes that fit her feet and having her talons stick out of them was the best idea, especially when she needed to use them. Within a minute or so, she had dressed and decided to take the long way back downstairs, just in case she ran into him through all of her phasing. She walked down the stairs and arrived at the door, dressed and ready to go. A dog barked from the other side and she opened the door to find Sam sitting on one of the steps and Bruno chasing after a few squirrels.
"Ready?" she asked, certain Bruno probably did not need a leash since this entire yard belonged to the Mansion. With that, she walked down the stairs and turned to face Sam, slightly higher than him simply because she was standing on a lower step than he was sitting. Another small debated grew in her mind. Should she offer him a hand to get up? Didn't guys do that for girls? A girl doing it in return usually just meant they wanted to touch because there was no way Fade was strong enough to pull him up. Finally, she decided to just smile at him and wait for him to stand up on his own, still uncertain of how this whole 'flirting' game even worked.

Sam’s eye closed for a moment as he breathed in the chilled air briefly before letting exit his lungs through his nose. He loved the smell of fresh outdoors it always had a calming affect on him, not that he was wound up or anything it was just nice to have the opportunity to smell the cool breeze. Eye opening Sam let out a yawn and noticed that jenny made her way outside and down the steps.
With a smile and a nod Sam fixed his one eye on Jenny for a second the sunlight behind her lighting up her red hair giving it a look like it was glowing. Sam’s smile turned into a smirk and he decided not to give her any sass for not offering to help him up, instead he’d figure he would compliment her. After all you catch more bees with honey. ”Must be the luckiest guy in the world, here I have the hottest redhead in the mansion making me bacon and now joining me for a walk with my dog.”
Pushing himself up and moving passed Jenny on the stairs by jumping down the last few Sam turned slightly and smirked to Jenny, ”Thanks again by the way, might be some of the best Bacon I have ever had!” Offering a hand up to Jenny he continued to smirk ”Shall we?” Sam asked leaving his hand up extended towards Jenny in hopes that she’d take it.
Sam passed her another compliment and Fade tried her best to keep it from blushing through her cheeks, but yet again, she was prey to his charms. She watched him stand up, still debating on whether to at least offer and hand to help him up, but she decided he was pretty much up on his feet already, what good would one hand do? Then her question was answered rather quickly. He offered his hand to her, to guide her down the last step. Smiling softly, she accepted his hand and lightly put her own on top of it, claws and all. Though it had taken her many years to get used to allowing her claws to be visible, the sight of her holding an unclawed hand made her feel slightly self-conscious and she considered turning her claws invisible again. If she were to do that, however, it would hide who she truly was, and it seemed like Sam was the only person she could truly be herself around.
"Or maybe I'm just taking you out for a walk," she replied teasingly. The moment the words settled in her mind though, she mentally scolded herself for being so corny, hopefully he would take it as the playful flirt instead of the random reply to something that was not a question. He complimented her bacon again and she smiled...again. "Thank you, I had to read the instructions a few times, I'm usually the worst cook," she sort of lied. It was true, she was probably one of the worst cooks in the Mansion, but she didn't exactly read the instructions, how could she if she hadn't fully learned how to read? Rather, she looked up a cooking video on youtube to help her out some. "We shall," she said, unsure whether they would be continuing this walk hand in hand or if it was just a 'last step' sort of support.

Her hand took his and he wasn’t really sure how to react to the giant raptor talon on her hand, his first reaction would have been along the lines of ‘That’s Cool!’ but instead he decided to play it cool and not pay it much mind she could after all be sensitive about it seeing as she did keep it phased and invisible most of the time, now however it was visible so he decided to continue the smile and hold her hand even when she was down the last step.
A few steps from the mansion and he thought about letting go of her hand instead however he held onto it and even offered her a little squeeze for a moment before releasing his grip. He was attracted to her, she was nice and pretty and she had the laid back personality he enjoyed to be around, what he didn’t like was how things ended with Alex and if things went sour between him and Jenny he didn’t want her leaving because of him even if she wouldn’t admit he was the reason.
”Woof!” Sam said quickly when she said she was taking him for a walk. He looked forward and then whistled to a Bruno who was busy circling a tree hoping that a squirrel would make it’s way back down the tree. No luck, which meant Bruno, was already on his way back over to Sam and Jenny. ”So… nice weather?” Sam said trying to get a conversation going.
He did not release her hand immediately, nor did he release it subtly. Instead, he continued to hold her hand for a few more steps and he squeezed it lightly before letting go, as if to say 'we'll continue this later'. She smiled lightly as to not give away entirely how she was feeling. Sure, she had done this whole flirting this before...about three years ago when Raphael was still around. She'd allowed herself to get tangled up enough that when he disappeared, she spent much too long on the street looking for him. He left her on a cliffhanger, she never did learn what happened to him, hardly even heard his name mentioned by his old comrades. One thing was for sure, she was not going to react like that again, she was too good at straying from the path.
Her currently purple eyes darted to Sam for a moment, telling herself that he would not up and disappear. No, he was different, right? Who said anything had to come of this? She didn't mind if something did follow, but she wasn't going to push the buttons. No, she had learned just to move with the flow of things. The more you squeeze, the more it slips away, right? Her grip on the situation was as gentle as when she held his hand. He mocked a light bark and she laughed, debating on whether she should rustle his hair. Maybe that was just for dogs, most people either got scared from her talons running through their hair or they freaked out even more when she phased them through and the understanding that phased talons were moving back and forth through someone's brain settled in. No, a taloned woman had limited options when rustling through another's hair.
Bruno trotted back over, giving up his chase of the squirrel and Sam mentioned something about the weather. Fade pursed her lips together, but she couldn't help it. A laugh escaped her tightly sealed mouth and soon she burst out laughing. It was not to embarass him, but she was shocked he mentioned the weather. "Oh com'on, Sam, I would have expected an interesting, attractive, ice sculptor like yourself would have something else to mention," she expelled the last bits of her laughter out before recomposing herself. Now that she thought about it, it was a little rude to laugh like that about his mention of the weather. "Sorry, that was rude. I just meant...uh..." she struggled to think of something better to say, but the only thing that came to mind now was the weather. Time for Plan B. "Do you wanna go out to the city tonight?"

Bruno soon approached Sam and Jenny as they continued their walk, at this time however Sam wasn’t sure how to respond, he was used to the round about flirting and the off hand ‘you look nice’ comments he had been giving her however when she busted out laughing at his question with a slurr of comments of her own he to started to laugh. ”The weather was something interesting…” he said trying to hold back the laughter as Jenny was apologizing, ”No, it’s alright, it was meant as an ice breaker…” oh yes pun intended!
”City huh?” Sam asked as he looked up and put his thumb to his chin pretending he was thinking long and hard about the question making it seem like he possibly had plans that night. ”Let me check my schedule… I think I can pencil you in…” Sam said teasingly as he removed his hand and offered her a wink having to over play the facial expression letting her know it was indeed a wink.
”Yeah I think I’m up for a trip to the city… only if I can have a beautiful woman such as yourself accompany me.” he said knowing that seeing as she asked him that was the plan but he just wanted to point out that he thought she was beautiful, ”Where and when and I’m there!” Sam said with a smile.
He commented on how the weather was interesting. Sure, the weather was interesting on some days. Take for example, when it suddenly starts hailing and raining out of no where, Fade noticed the weather. Or what about when it was extremely pretty outside and the sun just seemed to dance on people's eyes like that cute little sparkle? That was when the weather was interesting to Fade. Never-the-less, she appreciated the ice breaker. "Right, I gotcha," she smiled, recomposing herself.
"Oh don't use a pencil, you can erase lead. Use a pen, in fact, you can go ahead and sharpie me into your schedule," she joked, looking to see what his reaction to her joke would be. He complimented her again, she was getting better at hiding her blushes, if only just a little better each time. Where would they go? Was he 21 yet? She sort of always assumed he was, she was sure he was of legal drinking age. There were a few bars around they could try, but she did not like the noisy bars, not when she was with someone. "There's this jazz bar I think is pretty fun, it's not like noisy or anything, just sort of jazz music and a cool setting," she suggested. She did not mean cool like 'awesome' she meant it like blue, like light blue lights and just a feeling of cool as in not entirely cold.

A small smirk at her writing utensil joke and Sam made note to comment on it later, more of a teasing matter than anything else. ”Cool I can do…” Sam said as he activated his powers slightly making it a little bit closer around them, something he did when he was a bit younger in an attempt to close the distance between him and a girl.
”Never really been that into Jazz, but I am open to try new things, it keeps things interesting right?” Sam asked rhetorically as he looked from Jenny with his good eye back to Bruno who was busy running about again enjoying his surroundings as Sam and Jenny walked and talked.
”How about we meet out front about eight or nine?” Sam asked curiously figuring it was a good time to meet for a date, even if it wasn’t an official date. Seeing as it was her idea Sam was ready and willing to let Jenny call the shots.
Sam commented on the temperature pun she had made and something odd happened. She felt the air around her cool down just slightly, simply enough to tingle at her skin. She smiled, appreciating the cooler air instead. He mentioned he was not that much into jazz, to which Fade shook her head in a sort of agreement. "Yeah, I don't listen to Jazz as a primary music choice, but it's a nice place to go to, it just sets a cooler mood," she said, ignoring that she mentioned the temperature pun again. "Then again, I'm not much into the whole lots of dancing ladies and everyone pushing through each other to get to the bar. I used to do that when I was younger, but I think I'm slowly growing out of it."
He set a time, eight or nine. The Jazz place had dinner options, but arriving that late usually just meant some sort of appetizer and cocktails, which was perfectly fine with Fade. "That sounds great!" she said, her mind trailing to transportation. They could go with a taxi, but if they were going to drive there, well, it should be Sam who drives, not just because Fade did not have a car but because she never learned how to drive either. Yes, taxi or Sam driving was best, unless they wanted to walk or ride bikes, which was a loud, resounding no.
