The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?
MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
This is something I've been thinking about for a little while, loosely because of the future plot that occured on the site not too long ago. I thought that the idea was rather interesting and provided for some very cool potential directions for characters to go in. What I am currently contemplating, however, goes one step further than that going ahead maybe 20 or 25 years to give the opportunity for some plot involving the children of the current characters or, for those few of us with ageless characters, rp current characters with the children of current characters.
I think a plot like this would be interesting for just about everyone involved. Much like future plot, I would think of it more as a potential future rather than a set in stone future. Players gain the opportunity to really think about what the future of their characters would be like, possibly even after the age where they have "retired" from whatever quest they are currently undertaking. In addition, it would be interesting to envision the children of characters espcially those in character couples, mutant or not.
Is this something that would be possible to do, either on a small or a site wide level? I haven't really plotted in detail at this point, its just something that was floating around in my head that I thought would be interesting to consider.

Easiest way to run this plot: in the FanFic board, with interested players.
Modding-wise, the Future Plot was a bit of a (colossal) pain, since it involved approving the future versions of profiles. If we were going to play heavily with the children, as well, that would involve a lot of NPC profiles, as well (plus, we're trying to discourage the over-use of NPCs, now that MRO has so many active PCs for people to play with instead). The Future Plot was also rather difficult for new members to jump in on, and most ended up abstaining--that's why it became a wasteland of just a few older members RPing.
If it was done on the FanFic board, it could be run to your heart's content, minus newbs having to figure out what was going on, or Mods being bogged down in "future" profiles.
I personally wouldn't play much/at all in this plot--when we did the Future Plot originally, we considered moving far enough out in time for people to RP their children, as well, but the general consensus fell to the 10-year mark that we ended up picking. That was where my heart lay, as well, so I am future-content. I'd rather do something new for the next plotline.
I had heard such sentiments by the mods before, which is why I brought up the idea of it being a rather minor plot instead. Perhaps a fanfic type thing might be the way to go after all. I'll just have to wait and see if there is any interest by others to run such a thing. Personally I think it could be a lot of fun. I understand about the whole, way to much mod work thing though haha.
