The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lenna smiled and nodded at Lee’s honest reply. “I’ve never really played hockey before, but from what I’ve seen in movies, gleaned from books… it sounds about as brutal as some of the football games kids play down the street from my hotel.”
Her attention shifted to the man as he spoke. Interesting. He grew up in a situation like hers? Inwardly, she smiled smugly. If he only knew. She shook her head and had to laugh. "My big sis was always shoving shoes on my feet too. Said I wouldn't be much use to anyone with stubbed toes." She liked his story. It brought back memories. Eliana, shoveling her off to school, breaking up little Poker games between her and the girls. That one week in gun training when she forgot to wear the ear mufflers and her ears rang for 3 whole days. She certainly learned from that. Always ignore big booms when at all possible. And spending the nights outside during the Summer? The view from the courtyard of the mansion always gave them the best sky of stars. Maybe there were connections that could be made between two very different childhoods. As he finished, Tarin looked to Lee and Lenna fell silent, politely waiting.
She nodded at Tarin's thanks, and pulled back her lunch package, setting it on her lap when they'd taken what they wanted. "My pleasure." It was always nice showing kindness to strangers. After all, some people depended on it.
She grinned at him. So he liked baseball too? Good. Someone she could talk sports with. "Baseball's the sport of my childhood. I don't pay much attention to the majors anymore, but I'm always popping off to spend time at the batting cages. A nice cold beer, time with friends, the crack of the bat? It's a good way to spend the night."
Apparently Tarin had spent most of his childhood out on the ranch. A year earlier, that would have been hard to believe, he seemed to be quite the city-goer now, but after seeing the change in her husband's demeanour when they'd gone to Texas for Christmas, Lee could understand it.
And then Tarin asked her if she and Robert had used to raise the same kind of hell as him and his brothers did when younger. For a moment, Lee was surprised by his question, things hadn't been anywhere close to that for years, Tarin had never seen her even near as close as she had once been with her older brother. But she had told him about it.
Lee simply shook her head as she swallowed. "Nah, we weren't that bad," Lee replied. "I think we were too busy, Bobby with hockey, me with music, most of the time. Probably about the closest we did was go see a lot of really terrible science fiction movies."
But then it was the baseball talk, and Lee simply rolled her eyes at Tarin's explanation for why she wasn't overly fond of the sport while he and Eliana were.
The baseball talk was continuing, though, so Lee just kind of tuned it out slightly while she continued eating. About the only sport she was really all that interested in was hockey, and that was because she had grown up with it in her life.
