The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

If Katrina had learned anything about sneaking around invisible, she had learned that there was always someone around who could hear or smell a person even if they couldn't see them. She had also learned that grownups never told kids anything, and usually it was in a person's best interest to know things. Knowing things keeps people safe. For example, if she had known there was a vampire prowling around Mondragon Labs, she never would have gone wandering around there alone.
In fact, if she could help it, she was going to avoid being alone in the mansion, too. She didn't trust that the building was safe from intruders, or safe from collapsing, or safe from the mysterious “Xmen” that were rumored to be lurking around it. That was why, when grownups started becoming scarce and even Calley disappeared somewhere, Katrina decided to follow them.
Not sure that she was invited, she imagined herself invisible, not only to eyes, but to noses and ears too. It would take concentration to affect all three senses at once, as well as a lot of energy, but to avoid people hearing her heartbeat or smelling her scent, it could be necessary. She'd probably sleep for hours afterwards, but she hadn't been sleeping well, so it could be a mixed blessing to really tire herself out.
Once she was as imperceptible as she could make herself, Katrina followed the next grownup looking person she saw downstairs and into a big meeting room. The room was already filling up with people. She saw Calley right away, cross from the door. Even though she was invisible, she thought it would be nice to sit near her tiger-y friend. It felt comforting to have a big fuzzyfierce tiger nearby, just in case. Careful not to bump into anyone, she made her way carefully around the room, avoiding bumping into people and chairs. She caught snatches of little conversations as people chatted with each other, waiting for the meeting to start.
>"So, whats this rag tag team of super heroes next big assignment?" A wolf girl asked. Katrina continued to concentrate on being scentless and silent as she skirted around the people closest to the door.
>"I'm doing well Em, yourself?" Said a fair skinned young man. Katrina noted to herself as she slid past the wolf girl that her name was Em. She was very careful to avoid Em's tail, which was wagging.
>“Hey guys. What’s going on?” A cat girl. More tails to avoid.
>"Sorry I'm late everyone. I hope I didn't miss much." Ali she had met at the very beginning of the resistance. She had treated Katrina like a little kid, but she kind of had been a little kid back then. She'd learned a lot about the world since then, and probably still had a lot more left to learn.
Katrina settled herself on the floor near Calley, toward one of his stripy sides and hopefully out of twitching tail range. She found herself feeling a little jealous that she didn't have a tail like everyone else. They certainly seemed to be popular.
At the front of the room black lady who spoke with the authority of a teacher was reading off a list, >"Awesome, that just leaves Deathstar and Ted." She smiled as Raina pulled out a seat for the redhead. "Nope, you're not late. I was just about to say that this meeting is mainly about getting everyone reacquainted again. Plus, I know some of you don't know each other yet."
Katrina's ears caught the name Deathstar and she puzzled over it. Perhaps someone's parents liked Star Wars a little too much. Perhaps someone had chosen the rather morbid sounding name for his or herself. In either case, the meeting was about to start. Although it didn't sound like anything really important was going to be discussed, it would be nice to start putting more names to faces. So far, all the people she knew were from the resistance- and that was only Ali and Calley among the people currently in the room.
Hum-de-dum. Thinking about not being seen, smelled, or heard. Katrina twiddled invisible thumbs and waited for the rest of the meeting to get underway.

Notlatenotlatenotlate. Ted skidded round the top of the stirs, and dashed down, avoiding the missing ones. Someone really ought to fix that... He ran up to the danger room door, and stopped to catch his breath. Once he'd calmed down, he stepped into the room as though he had planned this all along. "Hey guys; sorry I'm a little late." He smiled (something he'd been doing rather a lot of lately) and grabbed himself a seat next to... wait. How long had they had a tiger? Weird. It then occured to him that it was probably a really cool mutation, and not a random tiger. He sat down next to the big cat, and took a quick glance round the room. Neena was very in charge, and Raina seemed to be a second in command of sorts. Michael and Em were sat next to each other, and Em was being none too subtle. The tail wagging was just a bit of a giveaway. Do I do that in beast form? Something to watch out for.
ted noticed some new guy sat nice and far away, and carrying a pistol. And ninja stars. That was strangely weirder than finding a tiger sat at the table. Ted decided not to look at him for too long (he was kindascary. and a liiiiittle creepy) and made a note of the others there. It seemed to be a lot of people, and he struggled to think of any other X-men members who were missing.
Remaining quiet for now Nika watched as a few more people arrived. She had seen Ali before when Iris was having trouble with her power. The young girl didn't strike a bell in her memory however. it was very likely they just never crossed paths. The mansion is a big place after all. When Ted entered the room Nika gave him a smile. She remembered him from the tryouts. Poor wolfie-man had to lay out for part of the battle with the robot drones.
Deathstar was working on her room, when the announcement flooded her ears, she was currently with a guest at the time, but kindly excused for a moment to regroup with her ailing teammates.
Deathstar walked in the war room seeing alot of new faces, and old ones she wasn't to happy about reuniting. She wore a tight-fitted white tank-top with black and pick jogging pants. Deathstar walked in slowly catching everyone's eye nodding her head to everyone as if she's saying hello, trying to get a feel of her teammates. She pulled out a chair, and sat at the end of the table near Neena, "Sorry folks, better late than never, did I miss anything?" as she spoke out her eye caught a glimpse of Emerald which put her mind unease.
While the others chatted for a more minutes, Neena leaned back to watch and listen. She wanted to wait for Ted and Deathstar before starting introductions. At one point she paused, and looked around. Her smile revealed nothing, and her glasses hid her eyes. But the hairs on the back of her neck stood up slightly. She had that distinct feeling of being watched. But everyone seemed to be involved with their own conversations. Odd. Shaking her head slightly, she dismissed the feeling. It must be all of the computer screens. Lifeless, irritating eye-sores, that's all they were.
"Hey guys; sorry I'm a little late." A grinning Ted entered the room, and sat next to Calley.
Deathstar entered a bit more deliberately than most of the others had, pausing long enough to make eye contact, and then choosing a seat before speaking up. "Sorry folks, better late than never, did I miss anything?"
Neena shook her head. "Nope not a thing. In fact, now we can make a proper start."
She pushed her chair back and stood up, and sat on the edge of the table instead. "I'm glad all y'all could make it. This isn't a formal meeting or anything. I just wanted to get the whole team together in one place, so we can all see who each other are. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm just glad to be able to be seen." She smiled and help up her hands and out in a 'Here we are' gesture.. "So, officially, welcome back. Team Xmen!"
She paused a moment before continuing. "As you've noticed, Tricity isn't here today. Some of you know, but for those who don't, I just want to assure you all, she's just fine, and so is her son. She and Tristan are just taking a break for awhile. A vacation if you will. In the meantime...."
She sighed a bit, and shrugged, still smiling. ".... Looks like you're all stuck with me instead. My sincerest apologies." Naturally her expression didn't relay sorrow of any sort, but instead a bit of teenager-type impishness.
"So!" and she clapped her hands, then stretched them a bit, "How 'bout we start with the basics. Like introductions. I'll read off names and mutations, and when you hear yours, say hi and wave." She consulted her list, and began in matter-of-fact style with herself, adding side comments after each.
"First off, Ezekiel is our Professor of Psychology, and sulfur manipulator. No funny smell jokes, please."
"Let's see.... Emerald. She is a wolf-shifter and water manipulator. Don't cross her in a water fight."
"Layla, aka Deathstar. She both absorbs and reflects life energy. Don't bet against her in an arm wrestle."
"Now they've got the most experience of us all, so take the opportunities you can to learn from them. Now for everyone else....."
"....."Raina is our Music Teacher, and a water and ice chanter. Encourage her to sing sometime, her voice is awesome."
"Michael, or Shield, is Mr. Invulnerable. Please ask before attempting to test him out."
"Tigger over here is Calley. What you see is what you get."
"Dream is our reality warper. Her dreams may become reality, so no inducing nightmares please."
"Nika can have a supercharged adrenaline boost, so again, no scaring her to test the theory. Those claws are sharp, and she hits hard, trust me."
"Let's see, who else? Ummm..... Ah! Ali! Ali, or Raven Fire, is a pyrokinetic. She manipulates heat on various levels."
"Ted is the resident werewolf. Don't challenge him to a eating contest; remember we do have a monthly food budget."
And last but not least, I'm Neena, or Night Owl if you prefer. My mutations are enhanced sight, and lack of fear. Or some claim a lack of sanity. Whatever works."
She took a breath to allow everyone to take in the introductions. She looked around, curious to see the reactions to her silly comments; their reactions could give quite a bit of insight into their individual personalities.

Raina looked around the room as Neena went through each introduction. She knew just about everyone or at least seen them before aside from the tiger Calley and the other teacher Ezekiel. She wasn't sure if Calley would notice so she instead turned and smiled warmly to Ezekiel. "We're both teachers!" she beamed. He had been a teacher before she was so Raina knew she'd be able to learn a lot from him.
More people arrived and soon the room was bustling. A tall gangly boy with dark mangy hair came rushing in at what seemed like the last moment and sent Katrina scurrying invisibly and silently out of his way. Excuse me, but I as sitting next to Calley. Not that the newcomer would have been able to tell that there was an invisible girl sitting on the floor next to the tiger and behind the chair that seemed so empty and inviting. It wasn't like she could speak up and tell him that the seat was taken. Katrina shrugged her invisible shoulders and settled back on the floor on Calley's other side, only after carefully stepping gingerly over a tail that was threatening to twitch at any moment.
The last person to arrive was a blond girl with red highlights in her hair and eyes that flashed like rubies. Katrina would have been unnerved by their odd color, but she had already met several mutants with unusual eye colors. With her red striped hair and matching red eyes, she kind of looked like a cross between crimson-eyed-Kazelf and a whiter version of the goth-lady-Syn.
And then it seemed everyone had arrived. The tall African lady at the front of the room started the meeting, sounding very official.
>>>"I'm glad all y'all could make it. This isn't a formal meeting or anything. I just wanted to get the whole team together in one place, so we can all see who each other are. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm just glad to be able to be seen."
Katrina couldn't help but smile at that statement as the teach-like woman continued her introduction, >>>"So, officially, welcome back. Team Xmen!"
Katrina nearly swallowed her epiglottis. The Xmen?! Somehow she had managed not to gasp outloud. Katrina didn't know much about the Xmen, but what she did know wasn't adding up. Calley had told her the Xmen were a violent group that practiced fighting zealot-human-robots during training sessions. And Calley was sitting here quite contently at an Xmen meeting. Syn had told her the Xmen fought to protect humans and mutants, but also fought other mutants, again violence, but this time to help humans. And she had said they lived at the mansion. Oh yeah. Katrina remembered that now.
All the rumors she had heard about the notorious Xmen weren't making sense. The only thing to do now was to sit and listen. Perhaps she could find out herself what was true and what wasn't. Perhaps she would learn what the Xmen were really about. Perhaps she could start breathing again now.
By the time she had finished her near panic attack and refocused on maintaining her invisibility- by continuing to imagine that instead of her racing heartbeats, there was silence and instead of the scent of a slightly panicky tween, there was odorlessness- Katrina had missed something about a person being gone, >>>".... Looks like you're all stuck with me instead.”
The dark skinned teacher lady had a sense of humor, it seemed. That was always a good sign in teachers. And in non-murderous types of Xmen. Maybe. In either case, her side comments about each of the other members in the room were funny. Katrina found herself actually looking forward to having a class with the lady, whose name turned out to be Neena Nightowl.
Katrina also took note of the other teachers Ms. Nightowl mentioned as she read through her list as well as listened with interest to the other mutations of the people in the room. They didn't sound as dangerous as she thought they would, but perhaps it was the jokes that followed each of the descriptions that made them seem less threatening. Even shifting into wolves didn't seem so scary, especially since she already knew a perfectly nice person who could change into a tiger.
This was turing out to be a pretty good sized group of people attending this meeting. Nika felt rather comfortable with everyone that was there. She also liked knowing that her teacher was going to be sticking around. Neena made comments that some of the people gathered would be teachers of different things such as Raina being the music teacher. Nika knew Raina had a pretty singing voice so it was only fitting.
Then like a lightning bolt Neena's words 'Welcome back Team X-men!' registered in the catgirls mind. She tilted her head slightly to the left and made a confused face. The confusion quickly melted away and gave way to a very big smile.
"You mean all of us are X-Men now?!"
Nika couldn't contain her joy as she hopped up to get her feet on the chair underneath her. She then did a backwards flip and landed facing back towards the table. With a playful smile on her face Nika sat back down in her chair.

Streak walked through the hallway and towards the war room. He knew that he was really late and had probably missed most of the meeting. He stopped at the entrance to the war room, took a deep breath, pressed his hand up to the signature reader, and walked through as the door opened.
He saw many people that he knew sitting around a table. There was Raina, Ted, Neena and many others that Streak knew. There were also some people that he didn't know or had never seen before. It doesn't matter I know them or not. There not the ones who've probably missed the entire meeting. Streak berated himself for being so late, however, he didn't find out until later. He took some time off of fixing the mansion to see what was going on. He walked in just in time to hear Nika say that they were all X-Men.
Without saying a word to anyone, only catching a few peoples eyes and smiling when he did. Streak walked towards an open chair and sat down. He didn't look to out of place, looking like a normal person, and hoped he hadn't missed to much of the meeting. Streak noticed that many of the other mutants there had physical appearances that made them look mutant, it didn't bother Streak in the least but it did seem to be a trend here which was interesting. He stayed quiet and listened to what was going on.
"Layla, aka Deathstar. She both absorbs and reflects life energy. Don't bet against her in an arm wrestle."
Deathstar let a chuckle for first time in a long time, she nodded her head toward Neena with agreement when she mentions the arm wrestling joke. "Any takers?", she asks jokingly. Deathstar sat quiet as the meeting went on trying to absorb much information as possible.

So everyone gathered was being called an X-Man? Did Neena just say that because it popped in her head or was some authority figure behind that statement? It sure sounded nice whatever the reason behind it.
Neena ran down the name's and a brief description of powers for everyone. There was quite a diverse group assembled. It almost sounded like they could handle nearly any situation thrown at them. Not to mention that some of them were going to be teachers too.
"Any takers?" Deathstar asked in replied to Neena's summary of her abilities. Neena smiled, glad to see the girl smiling once more.
"You mean all of us are X-Men now?!" Nika suddenly blurted out. Neena surpressed a chuckle as the catgirl executed a backflip in her excitement.
"Yes, actually I was going to announce that later, but now works too. Those of you who have been trainees, have officially been bumped up to full Xmen. And als-"
She paused as the door whooshed open again, and a new body appeared. She smiled and motioned for him to enter.
"Sorry all, I forgot to mention. For those who don't know, this is Silver Streak. He's our newest trainee, and member of the team." She went through and introduced everyone again to Streak, just by name this time. She'd go over their mutations with him later in private.
"What I was about to mention is that we're likely going to be busy soon. There's already been some backlash because of the Registration Law, and there's bound to be more." Her teasing tone took on a more serious quality. "There are a lot of angry mutants out there right now. And while they have plenty of reason to be so, taking it out on humans isn't going to justify anything. Humans will never be able to view us as equals, if they have to constantly worry that they'll be attacked. So...." She sighed, and held up her hands, before letting them plop back onto the table. "We're going to have to be on alert for any rampaging mutants, while trying to watch our backs against anti-mutants humans at the same time. Ain't gonna be easy, ya know?"
She paused to let the others absorb and react to what she'd just announced.

Streak said, "Hi." To everyone in general and waved his hand around. He then put it back down and listened to what Neena was saying about backlash from the Registration Law. He nodded in agreement knowing that there would be backlash from humans and mutants alike. Streak himself was still a little sore about the way humans treated himself and fellow mutants, but he was willing to put that all aside to try and get society to accept mutants.
What Neena said was the truth and Streak was glad that she wasn't beating around the bush with it. His mind started to wander a little and play scenarios of the X-Men protecting humans against mutants, and the humans decide to attack the X-Men as well as the mutants. It was a different type of daydream than some that he normally had, but somehow this daydream seemed more realistic and more likely to happen.
Emerald listened in on the various conversations that were taking place, catching the scent of everyone in the room, a slight foriegn one making her arch her brow. She didn't pay to much mind to it because it wasn't one she immediately recognized as dangerous. The Female had noticed that Deathstar was in the room and had said something or another but the wolf girl had ignored it, her mind was elsewere at the moment. So when her name was called she gave a slight wave and a "Hi Everyone" Before returning to her thoughts.
She did however listen when Neena started Speaking about the mutants that may be a little miffed since they were locked up in the camps. The womans words sparked a few more thoughts in Emerald's mind, thoughts that she believed needed to be spoken aloud.
"So what if the mutant is attacking a human directly linked to the camps?" Emerald asked, "If that human in particular was responsible for this mutants suffering shouldn't we allow them to settle it amongst themselves?"
Emerald's words, as they were spoken seemed to be an inquiry but with a certain challenge to them. Almost a second Implication as if she was asking why should we stop people from getting revenge on those who hurt them?

Raina thought about what Neena said and then listened to Emerald's retort. "Em's got a point..." she said out loud thinking. "it would be very hard for any of us to step in on that sort of situation but..."
She looked down on the table not feeling brave enough to really say what she was going to say but she was going to say it anyway. "We are x-men. What sets us apart is that we fight for humans too. We reach for the good. In all situations. Even members of our own team and school have dark pasts..." that wasn't a jab at Emmy, Em knew as much as Raina knew that some other members on the team had made bad decisions before coming to the school. Raina knew that Em knew more than most as well how hard these things coould be.
"This is what bothers the other mutant groups the most about us. We believe we can peacfully co-exist..." she thought instantly of something "I don't know how religious everyone is here but Pope John Paul ..." she started. "Was shot by a man intending to kill him. After the man was incarcerated for a while JP started communicating with him. Eventually the would-be-killer actually apologised to the Pope and asked for forgiveness- which the Pope granted. We may not be a religious group but it's a strong example of what it means to be the bigger person. He knew that man was out for his life but he feared for the man's soul. He also represented a group of people like we do. He took that first really hard step and in his mind he believes the man is forgiven and will still go to heaven- and it taught all of his followers that there should always be forgiveness... that forgiveness can change people...." she trailed off a moment realizing how in depth she was getting with this and not wanting to make anyone feel uncomfortable.
"I'm not saying that we 'forgive and forget..." she stammered. "Nobody should forget. But the humans acted out of fear and ignorance. I think Emmy raises a really strong point that we need to consider. Are we prepared to defend even the 'bad' humans? I personally think that religious or not... we have a lot of young mutants looking up to us and we should take a page from JP's book... or at least make an effort...."
