(OOC: Continued from Knock, Knock - Cyberstyle) Normally Crystal would have begun immediate exploration after gaining access to the lab computers. Partial access was better than none, and held potential for quite a bit of information gathering, especially considering the proverbial ‘melting pot’ the location had become. However, she’d been hoarding a bit more than usual lately, and her ‘space’ was overcluttered. Before she could gather more, a bit of housecleaning was in order.
Housecleaning....
Curious to test out an idea, she floated about a bit in the Lab computer system, until she found the unused space. There was less than she would have guessed for such a massive operation; she would have thought they would keep more available for back up use. Still, there was more than enough that she could steal some for herself without it being missed.
Once the space was defined, and as much security protocols installed as her boundaries allowed, Crystal materialized virtually in the middle. It resembled a plain white area, with no beginning or ending. The first thing she did was to call up a small screen and keyboard, and to alter the reality settings. With a satisfied smirk, she crossed her legs, floating like a genie.
”Excellent. Now for the decor.”
She began typing, altering the coding flitting across her screen. With every bit of new coding, the world around her changed, starting with the walls and ceiling. The area resembled an slow-frame anime, as various colors and textures flicked back and forth. Depth was added, then furniture, and other items. Sound, lighting, even scents were programmed in, until Crystal closed the screen with a satisfied nod, and took a moment to examine her handiwork.
The area now had three levels and a vaulted ceiling, with spiral staircases on the west and east walls leading from one story to another. Scattered across each level were couches, chairs, reading tables and accent tables, all styled after the fashion of Tudor England. The south walls were covered from floor to ceiling with shelves upon shelves of books. In the center of the main floor was a huge glass globe, easily ten feet across, with transparent bodies of water and frosted areas representing land, floating above its dock and revolving slowly. The globe also gave off a soft glow, not readily noticeable, but enough to light the entire area. Other ‘library-appropriate’ accessories accented the room; rolled up charts and maps, Egyptian-style scrolls, reading glasses on several tables, various table lamps, a computer/printer/copier setup on Level Two, and other various items.
In actuality, the space was not as huge as it appeared, rather Crystal had coded in a visual illusion of depth. However, the books did represent various links and bookmarks she’d filed away, as well as actual caches of information. She had them color-coded so she could tell at a glance which was which. It was still a work in progress, in her mind, but nonetheless, she was quite pleased with her progress.
She paused for a moment, her eyes closed. Besides her, an image appeared, identical to her own, representing another backup of herself. One of them remained within Iris’s phone, while the other remained inside the Lab computers. She programmed herself to link every twenty-four hours, in essence creating a network between the two programs. That way she would be free to explore as she wished, while Iris would still be able to call on her, yet be none the wiser.
Her ‘housecleaning’ now accomplished, she commenced her exploring.
