The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

An ever so small grin twitched the side of Shogun's mouth. Ever so small. Like you'd hardly notice. "I own a warhorse. I fire arrows from the back of her almost as good as standing. I can also use a spear or a polearm to great effect. A charge from me mounted on her could annihilate an infantry regiment." He'd had many mock battles, where he'd made men out of straw, and charged. If it had been real men, it would have been no less effective. They would never had stood a chance.
He had run out of arrows, and went to retrieve them. When he got back, he began firing them again. "It's unusual for one to start so young. Why'd you take it up?"
"I own a warhorse. I fire arrows from the back of her almost as good as standing. I can also use a spear or a polearm to great effect. A charge from me mounted on her could annihilate an infantry regiment."
Kitra swore she saw a slight twitch of a grin on Shogun's face but was really not sure. "A warhouse? She must be a beauty then." She grinned, "That would be really cool to see." She had been firing her arrows and had it looked like she had finally managed to nick the bulleyes. She followed Shogun out to the targets and retrieved her arrows and noted that she had actually hit the bulleyes....barely.
"It's unusual for one to start so young. Why'd you take it up?"
She frowned unhappily but answered, "My parents only cared for success. Even then it was success from things other then their only daughter." Now annoyed at the thought of her parents, her arrows were hitting more sparadically on the target. She huffed and unstrung the short bow and set it down with disgust before going to retrieve her arrows. Yanking them out of the target she realized that her last arrow had actually made a perfect bulleyes. She brightned slightly and made her way back to the firing line.
Kitra reached for the longbow with a smile. She was the best at the longbow. She strung it and twanged the string. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise, this bow actually had a 50 pound draw and not a 35 pound. She shrugged and notched an arrow anyway. She sighted and loosed. The arrow flew straight and true. It hit the target with unnerring speed and hit the bulleyes in the exact center. "I happen to be rather good with a longbow in my hands. The speed is incredible." She wasn't boasting really, the longbow felt more natural for her then any other. She sighted, this time she was aiming to split the arrow already on the target, directly in the center of the bulleyes. She loosed the arrow and it flew true, splitting the arrow in half and the second arrow placed snuggly in between the two halfs. She grinned smuggly, her parents now forgotten.
Kitra decided to make a pattern out of the rest of her arrows. She sighted and loosed the rest of her arrows. On the target the pattern appeared to be.....

Shogun nodded. Parents can be harsh. He noticed that just talking about them caused her aim to be completely off. But after she claimed her arrows back, she switched to a long bow. He doubted that she'd have the strength to be able to pull it and still be accurate, but to his surprise she was much better. Then she managed the archer's gold; she split an arrow. "Impressive." Just to prove a point, each time one of her arrows hit the target, he then split it with one of his. He ordinarily wouldn't be able to make that shot so many times, but because he was aming for exactly what she was aiming for, and he could see all of her movements, he could copy them exactly. It was a talent that he rarely used, but that didn't mean he wasn't good at it. "Do you think Antonescu will be annoyed that I broke so many of his arrows?" Shogun had been so intent on splitting her arrows, that he only just realised the pattern that she had made.
"Thanks." She smirked and noticed that each time her arrow hit he split an arrow of his. She grinned and chuckled, "Very nice."
"Do you think Antonescu will be annoyed that I broke so many of his arrows?"
Kitra snorted, "I would hope not. As we are doing this to help perfect our skills..." She shook her head, "Nah, I don't think he'll be mad." She tilted her head and contemplated her pattern, it was a katana outline. "Hmm, not bad. Not bad at all." She strode out to her target and collected her arrows.
She came back to the firing line and spoke, "Shogun, what was your grandfather like? I know he was a great swordsman but I know nothing else. From the way you speak of him, you were both very close to each other." She sighted and loosed and arrow, this time she was going to go for a more complicated pattern.

Shogun went to collect his arrows too. He made sure that none of them got damaged, but unfortunately a couple had to be put with the other damaged one. He was impressed that Kitra had managed to make the outline of a katana, though he rarely delved into such things. Shogun then went back to firing at the 100 yard target, but stpped back from the firing line in order to make it harder.
"My grandfather was the greatest samurai alive. He knew everything about the old samurai, and taught me most of what he knew. Even at his great age, he was skilled with any weapon that came to hand. I know of noone that could best him, except for Antonescu. But grandfather never talked about him." Shogun then realised what he said, and mentally slapped himself. Why did he have to bring that up??
Changing subject, he asked Kitra "Who taught you to shoot a bow and weild a blade? They seem to have done a fairly good job of it."
Kitra realized that she wouldn't have enough arrows to make the outline she wanted. Shaking her head, she strode over to the shed and grabbed another quiver of arrows. She noted that there were crossbows in the shed as well. She shrugged, crossbows were only good for short range really. Walking back to the firing line, she saw that Shogun had stepped back from it. Thus, making a longer distance from his target. She smirked and stepped back as well.
"My grandfather was the greatest samurai alive. He knew everything about the old samurai, and taught me most of what he knew. Even at his great age, he was skilled with any weapon that came to hand. I know of noone that could best him, except for Antonescu. But grandfather never talked about him."
Kitra frowned in thought. She notched an arrow, sighted and loosed. A second arrow soon followed. She could tell that Hunter was a sore subject.
"Who taught you to shoot a bow and weild a blade? They seem to have done a fairly good job of it."
She would have to choose her words carefully, as she didn't want to aggravate Shogun....or make Hunter angry. Her voice was thoughtfully as she spoke. "Shogun, was your grandfather like you? I mean, did he see things as you do." A third arrow thunked into her target. "Hunter is impressive, but he isn't a god. A deadly enemy and a formidable friend, yes." She chuckled, "We all have weakness as we all have strengths. As I said before, I'm positive he wasn't even trying during my training session with him." She paused, grinned and laughed, "I don't think he even broke a sweat." Her laughter died, "Of course that doesn't say anything good for my skills in swordsmanship." Another arrow made its way to her target. It soon was followed by three more arrows.
"As for who taught me archery and swordsmanship, I went to a class for archery and was soon skilled enough to enter competitions within half a year. Archery came naturally to me. In high school, I got bored and after a year and entered my school's Kendo Club. That was about four and a half years ago. I haven't been in a formal dojo for almost a year." She shrugged, "Since I've been employed by Hunter, I've learned more from him. Merely watching him teaches me." As another arrow thunked into her target, she looked at Shogun, "My match with you taught me a great deal as well." She looked back at her target, notched an arrow, sighted and loosed it.
Now all she had left to do was the tail. She wouldn't outline the tail, she was going to try something new. Crouching down, Kitra put one knee on the ground and then planted her opposite foot down. She tilted her longbow....just a bit. She aimed for the upper part of her target, where an extra arrow wouldn't matter. She sighted and loosed her arrow and it hit. The arrow had sunk into the target at an angle, so it hung down and still stayed in the target. Grinning, Kitra sighted and loosed two more arrows at the angle she was currently using. Nodding in satisfaction, she stood and looked out at her target. A horse was clearly outlined and the tail was shown by the two angled arrows.
Finally something clicked, "They seem to have done a fairly good job of it." .....In utter surprise and some shock, Kitra looked over at Shogun. "Were you complamenting me earlier?" If he had.....wow.

Shogun shook his head. "No, my grandfather was a normal person, just especially gifted with a sword." He fired an arrow before Kitra's had hit the target, and after her's hit his split it. Shogun knew how good Hunter was; Kitra didn't stand a chance. "I've fought Hunter, and he never came close to trying. I doubt that you could have done much better." He fired an arrow at his target, and scored a bullseye. He took a step back. A class in archery? Not as good as the one-to-one lessons that he had had, but it was something. And she knew Kendo. He was good Kendo, but preffered to fight with real weapons. Learning just from watching is a useful skill to have as well. He fired another arrow, scored centre, and took another step back.
"I'm glad to have taught you something." He was interested in what Kitra was trying to do for the tail of the horse. He could see where she was aiming for, and gessed that must be trying something. She managed to get the arrow so that it hung down from the target. Something he had always tried to avoid; an arrow that only goes a little bit in is less likely to kill someone. Another of his arrows hit the bullseye, another step back. It was an interesting effect she used to finish the picture, an it looked quite good. Another arrow, another step back.
It took Shogun a couple of seconds to work out what she was talking about. "I was commenting on your abilities. It was only the truth." Another arrow, another step back.
"No, my grandfather was a normal person, just especially gifted with a sword. I've fought Hunter, and he never came close to trying. I doubt that you could have done much better."
Kitra nodded, then noted with interest how Shogun stepped back with each arrow he fired. She tilted her head, he was still hitting the exact center each time, very cool.
"I'm glad to have taught you something."
She smiled, "As I was happy to learn." The outline of the horse was finished and she thought it looked quite good.
"I was commenting on your abilities. It was only the truth."
Kitra shook her head smiling, "Thank you Shogun." She frowned slightly, "Is Shogun your actual name?" She shrugged, "If you would like, you may call me Kit." Kitra grinned, "My friends call me that." She regarded her target then walked to it and removed the arrows. She walked back and looked over at Shogun, wondering what his reaction would be to the friends comment...

Another arrow. Another bullseye. Another step back. "No, I decided to call myself Shogun. It's easier to fear that which has no identity." This was only part of the reason why he changed his name. He also didn't want his parents to know about him, as he didn't think they deserved to have a son as sucessful as him, nor did they deserve to know that the greatest samurai was actually the small boy they had tried to kill.
"Kit? Sounds childish." Shogun went to collect his arrows, and the returned to the point he had been firing from. "Kit, how did you end up working for a man like Antonescu?"
"No, I decided to call myself Shogun. It's easier to fear that which has no identity."
"Ah, I think I understand that." Kitra frowned slightly, "I have thought about changing my name, but I would prefer to make my name my own....not just a name from two people that never cared for their child." Her tone had darkened considerably at her words. She brought her longbow up and fired six arrows in rapid concession. That lightened her mood slightly. Even more so when she realized that her arrows had all split each other one after the other. Her eyebrows raised but was cut short from commenting by Shogun.
"Kit? Sounds childish."
Kitra opened her mouth and closed it in confusion as he returned from collecting his arrows and spoke again.
"Kit, how did you end up working for a man like Antonescu?"
She shook her head grinning. "First you tell me its childish then you use it?" She laughed, then became serious. She sighed, "Hunter is or was a business partner of my parents. I had gotten home after an archery competition when I was six. Upon me bursting in their meeting in my parent's study, he was the only one who treated me like an actual person." She frowned, "I just recently had my x-genes become active and I had run from my home. Hunter had one of the Kabal members find me and brought me to him. At the time, I was too tired to realize what was really going on. When I woke, it was to find Hunter sitting in a chair next to me and with the proposition of working for him and still pursueing my own goals." She paused and then growled, "Apparently my parents found out about me being a mutant...either that or they were just sick of having a daughter, but they put a bounty on my head. I was attacked later that night. I got slashed along my right shoulder....the same place you slashed me just yesterday." She smiled, "No hard feelings. And I'm sorry if I bored you with those details." Speaking of her shoulder...she rotated it around a couple times. It still was stiff, but the wound hadn't opened up, nor did it really hurt.
Kitra sighed, she was now tired from that little rant. She looked at Shogun, "Have you ever gone by something other then Shogun?" Kitra looked at her watch and realized that it was late...really late..as like almost midnight late. "Um..." she trailed off, uncertain of what to say...

Just because it was childish didn't mean he was too proud to use it. He listened to Kitra rant about her life, and how hard it was. He felt little sympathy, his parents were far less forgiving. They wanted him dead the moment they knew he was blind. At lesat Kitra could defend herself against bounty hunters; Shogun survived through chance alone. When she mentioned him hitting her old wound, he thought back to fight. She did seem a little more affected by the wound than she should have been, but he ad passed it off as weakness. Maybe Kit had more to her than what appears.
"I did have a name, but after my grandfather died I vowed to never use it. I didn't want my parents to know that I'm their child, they don't deserve it."He noticed her looking at her watch, and then fail to make words. Shogun checked his watch. His was analogue, and there wasn't glass covering the face, so he could tell where the hands were. "It's a little late, isn't it?" Shogun went to retrieve his arrows, and then started to put them in his quiver. He kept the damaged ones seperate, hoping that when Antonescu brought his things from his house in the mountains that his tools came with them. "I'm going back to my room. I hope they've got what i asked for." He had specifically asked for straw matting to be laid on the ground, except for a foot from the wall with the door. He also asked for a straw mat to be laid atop to serve as a bed, and for there to be enough racks on the walls to hold all his weapons and armour.
"I did have a name, but after my grandfather died I vowed to never use it. I didn't want my parents to know that I'm their child, they don't deserve it. It's a little late, isn't it? I'm going back to my room. I hope they've got what i asked for."
Kitra nodded, "Alright Shogun. I'm going to go to bed as well." She fell silent as she walked out to her target, she wasn't going to comment on his parents 'cause she understood in a sense, and retrieved her arrows. She then unstrung her longbow and put the arrows in their respective quivers. Leaning down, she swung the two quivers over her shoulder, unstrung the long bowand picked up the short bow and compound bow. She walked over to the shed and put the archery equipement back where it had been.
She walked back to the firing line and stopped a few feet from Shogun. "Thank you. It was fun practicing." She grinned, "I hope we can spar again soon. I will look forward to learning more from you." If Shogun would have been able to see, he would have saw that her eyes seemed to be twinkling with fun and happiness. "I'll see you around." Kitra waved and strode over to the door inside.
She thought about the directions to get to her room and amazingly enough....She found her room and shook her head in bewilderment. 'I guess there are reasons for everything.' Smiling, she entered her room, spotted the bed, kicked of her shoes and hopped into bed and was soon asleep.

Shogun had his bow unstrung and his undamaged arrows in his quiver by the time Kit got back from collecting her arrows. As Kitra thanked Shogun for the practise, Shogun could sense her happiness. Why was she so happy? All they did was practise. Americans were far too complicated. He waved as she walked off, and headed for his room. Once there, he found that there was indeed straw mats set out how he wanted, and his weapons were already on the racks. Tired, he changed into a pair of lightweight trousers, and lay on the mat. He was soon asleep, his nightmares making their regular visit.
